HISTORY IN THE MAKING 2008-2016

Good luck!

We've spent a good many years discussing politics, life, society and history. Most of all, the makers of history. The great events that changed the world - people, places, actions. Small acts have changed its hard-worn course, and effort and circumstance can make of its small actors immortal greats. In line with that sentiment, it seems pertinent now to recognize the potential of those who've made up this community for years, obvious through their contributions to the spirited debate and discussion that has proceeded here. HITM has sadly gone silent, though perhaps not lacking for things to say about making history, but rather for the realization that it is time we all commenced to do so, and make our mark.

Good luck to you all, see you in the history books!

You might've read it, but you sure as hell didn't understand it. :P

It's not that hard to understand. As long as you get the basic plot, it's fine.

I don't get why people hate the EU :\

I never saw it as a military or security organisation, rather a political and economical. Like I said on SoL, its one-currency system (except for the stupid Nostaligic Brits <_<) is designed to increase the flow of capital and inter-European travel throughout Europe.

Plus since WW2 and the Red Scare they've basically realised that blowing up half the flucking world isn't going to solve anything.

Why I hate the EU? I wouldn't know where to start...

Well, let's list a few things (these don't apply to each and every single EU member):

1- Anti-Americanism.
2- Anti-Israelism.
3- Socialism.
4- Not suporting America when they should.
5- Being complete pussies.

You don't want to have one Universal currency, because if that currency were to weaken, then all currency weakens.

When one currency is strong, people prefer to use it, but when it weakens they can switch to a different one. That's why I think the Pound should remain as a currency, and while the Euro isn't too widespread yet, they don't need to kill off a valuable currency that has historically done well.

Lol, K. I could argue this, but you would just argue it again and again and again and it'll turn into a flame-debate about like Venezuala vs. Capitalism or something stupid. I must respect your beliefs, no matter how much I wish to convince you otherwise.

However, let me just say on thing:

4- Not suporting America when they should.

So now America is the Supreme learder of the world that everyone must support?

No, but their disapproval of the Iraq war didn't really do the world any good. Who knows, maybe with their help, the war would've ended sooner.

Ungrateful pricks, I say. After all the US did for them in WW2 (and after)...

I thought it was a British-American invasion in Iraq? Britain is part of the EU so why are they not helping? :o

Lol, the EU was made in 1992 -.-
And to say that they should help America because they helped them, I could say that Russia should help Europe because they helped them :P We all know THAT'S never gonna happen.

You complain about Anti-Americanism when you're anti-everything? The EU is hardly anti-Israeli, they sent a police type force to guard the Gaza border at one point. We don't need to support America at all, socialism is great, and we're not pussies. Well done for insulting 500 million people in one post.

Uh-huh, I was actually talking about the governments of the EU, not the people. And, like I said, those 5 things don't apply to every single EU member. I like Czech, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, and the UK. I have no problem with those countries, so don't call me anti-European. I'm more of an anti-Western Europe Governments.

Btw, saying you support Israel doesn't mean you are. Actions speak louder than words.

BUT, you're free to have your opinion, just like how I'm free to disagree wiith you.

They paid for it tenfold. And it wasn't just America in ww2 you know. And the Iraq war was condemned by the Un, so I fully support them not being ok with it.
"There are strange things done in the midnight sun,
by the men who moil for gold; the arctic trails have their secret tales that'd make your blood run cold...
the Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see...
was that night on the marge of Lake LeBarge, that I cremated Sam McGee."
