HISTORY IN THE MAKING 2008-2016

Good luck!

We've spent a good many years discussing politics, life, society and history. Most of all, the makers of history. The great events that changed the world - people, places, actions. Small acts have changed its hard-worn course, and effort and circumstance can make of its small actors immortal greats. In line with that sentiment, it seems pertinent now to recognize the potential of those who've made up this community for years, obvious through their contributions to the spirited debate and discussion that has proceeded here. HITM has sadly gone silent, though perhaps not lacking for things to say about making history, but rather for the realization that it is time we all commenced to do so, and make our mark.

Good luck to you all, see you in the history books!

Iran. A word that conjures nuclear holocaust and Muslim militancy, but why?

Why do people hate Iran so much?

PLEASE DO NOT START ARGUING SIMPLY EXPRESS YOUR OPINION.

IF YOU ARGUE EVEN FOR A SENTENCE I WILL DELETE YOUR POST.

I have no freaking idea. What I don't understand is that no-one cared about Iran, but all of a sudden now that our troops are in the Middle East we consider them a thread :\

Some countries(I will not tell them by name) think that they need some bad country to invade so that they dont have to solve their own problems.

Sadly...... people take unkindly to revolts, in any country. It didn't, but it wouldn't have been unlikely to have another Russian Civil war in Iran.

I think it's because, at the time, the islamic fundamentalist movement was popular in those countries, while the shah was not.

Any rate, back on topic.
Iran is disliked because it is easy to point fingers at a power that revolted in an ISLAMIC revolution. Few people want to say that certain other parties are guilty of the situation. That, and Iran is very.... undiplomatic, much like Israel or other countries in the region. Too violent.

Nobody hates Iran. I hate the Iranian leadership. The extremists who imposed Sharia Law on their own people. Now the people are oppressed and really hate their government. Relations between the West and Iran were relatively good during Khatami's time, but ever since Ac-I'm-in-a-Jihad won, things have been going down hill.

Just thought I'd point out:
Ahdeminejad = Guy
The rule person you'd want to blame is the Supreme Islamic Leader.......
What's his face?

I'll share my opinion.

Iran is a decent place. The people are not the pure anti-American people the media tries to portray. The problem is Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, but I feel he will soon be cut out becuase KHATAMI (YAY!) is going to be running again. The Ayatollah I don't feel is a problem, I actually think he might be for peace. He held candle light vigils for the Americans lost during 9/11 and publicly condemned Al-Quaeda for there actions.

Ali Khamenei supports Ahmadinejad. They're both for the same thing, it's just Ali ain't so vocal about it.

That's true. The big majority of Iranians are pro-Western.

Iran was never the same after the Islamic conquest.

Those dumb fucking Persians! If they hadn't sapped their resources against the Byzantines in protracted warfare, they might have retained their identity as badass pagan Persia.
