HISTORY IN THE MAKING 2008-2016

Good luck!

We've spent a good many years discussing politics, life, society and history. Most of all, the makers of history. The great events that changed the world - people, places, actions. Small acts have changed its hard-worn course, and effort and circumstance can make of its small actors immortal greats. In line with that sentiment, it seems pertinent now to recognize the potential of those who've made up this community for years, obvious through their contributions to the spirited debate and discussion that has proceeded here. HITM has sadly gone silent, though perhaps not lacking for things to say about making history, but rather for the realization that it is time we all commenced to do so, and make our mark.

Good luck to you all, see you in the history books!

The winters are bad. True, but they are abnormal. They come much later, and the summers are much hotter. Otherwise legend, I would totally believe it was false.

Oh..... and, just wondering: But aren't they?

Polar Bears are classified as "threatened" or "vulnerable" depending on which ecological organization's terminology you use. They were on the decline, but that was due to over-hunting. Strict hunting regulations were imposed, and now the population is rebounding.

The good ole USA Environmental Protection Agency now classifies "global warming" as the biggest threat to polar bear populations. I suspect that is politically motivated, however, as the population contiues to increase.

Besides being fans of Coca Cola products, polar bears are also the best metal smiths among the different species of bear. They create their armor from the adamantine steel from metorites, and custom build each suit of armor for the bear in question.

I'm a Golden Compass fan. :D

And they always leave the damn things round my apartment!
They also make wonderful mounts for the exploits of the 22nd Canadian Bear Cavalry regiment, made famous for its successul last stand against the French during the battle of the plains of Abraham.

the Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see...
was that night on the marge of Lake LeBarge, that I cremated Sam McGee."

Hooray for the Canadian Bear Cavalry! Everyone should hate the French. Am I to understand that since it was a last stand, the French whacked them? If the French were able to overcome the storied 22nd CBC, they must have outnumbered the Canadians by about 100 to 1. Or have been lead by a foreign Commander. :P

It was close, but the french were beaten back from the colours, and the 22nd lived to fight another day.
