HISTORY IN THE MAKING 2008-2016

Good luck!

We've spent a good many years discussing politics, life, society and history. Most of all, the makers of history. The great events that changed the world - people, places, actions. Small acts have changed its hard-worn course, and effort and circumstance can make of its small actors immortal greats. In line with that sentiment, it seems pertinent now to recognize the potential of those who've made up this community for years, obvious through their contributions to the spirited debate and discussion that has proceeded here. HITM has sadly gone silent, though perhaps not lacking for things to say about making history, but rather for the realization that it is time we all commenced to do so, and make our mark.

Good luck to you all, see you in the history books!

Whoa. Lotta nostalgia there. I've been combing my internet servers and blogs for different works. Thus far I've only found these, as my main internet host's password doesn't seem to be working, so I can't get in.

Lord of the Flies: Innate Evil in Man

Some notes:
-I KNOW THE FIRST SENTENCE HAS AN ERROR. I copied the final-unedited draft from my Facebook notes :P)
- Spent about an hour and a half
- Yes, I know I bombed on the greed section
- May be a couple grammar errors. I was tired when I wrote this
- I had to include that good section in there as part of the criteria
- There are a couple formatting errors. I'm aware of this, I don't write essays all that well.
- This is worse than previous writing I've done. I haven't really applied myself at all this year.

She said I was being too wordy. Does it come off that way?

Boyle's Law and the Properties of Gases - Lab

Some notes:
- I just thought you guys might be curious to see what a lab report here looks like. They're simple.
- Oh, and I know those graphs are bad...... we had bad data, and excel was my graph utility :P

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Vimy Ridge - A Canadian Story

Notes:
- Website I made using notepad and Serif Photoplus 6.03 for Computers and Information Processing in grade 9.
- Not updated
- I know there is a bug with certain pages. I noticed I put too many nbsp; characters.
- Also threw in a <br> for some unknown reason, hence the gap on the first page.
- Just checked it, and the CSS went straight to hell...
"There are strange things done in the midnight sun,
by the men who moil for gold; the arctic trails have their secret tales that'd make your blood run cold...
the Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see...
was that night on the marge of Lake LeBarge, that I cremated Sam McGee."

Right from the beginning, an attack on religion. Way to go, Rommel. :point:

I have talents, what can I say?
By the way, I took that quote as saying the people whom end up in a living hell go mad first.
Not really a religious quote..

I meant not capitalizing "God."

Oh. I make an effort to capitalize it, but to be honest, I could care less if I don't.
There are some definite grammar issues there. Lol, first sentence.

Funny story actually: I had this exam on Roman gods last year, and a super-Christian girl in my class put all the gods in quotations, since my teacher just had us pass our tests one back and have each other mark them.

Haha. Reminds me of how some Arabs/Muslims always put "Israel" in quotation marks, because, you know, it doesn't exist. ;)

But seriously, why do you not capitalize God? It's a name. No different than capitalizing James or Lucas.

As I said before, I make an effort.
I don't mind slip-ups though.

And since Bill 44, my teachers had better not either.

I don't capitalize god either.
It's not my fault you Christians are too lazy to give your god a name.
Isn't he supposed to be called Yahweh?
That's what I call him if I need to specify.

Also, I say this as the pledge of allegiance:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

While the others say "under God", I briefly remove my hand from over my heart and I put it down to the side.

You pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America?

What happened to all the "This country has done nothing for me", "I hate it here", "I wanna leave the country", "This country sucks"?

All talk and no walk? Typical lefty.

I've never really cared in the anthem if I do the whole "god keep this land, glorious and free" thing, as it was written by a Christian, so it's understandable.

I just think of "God" as the Canadian people. Anthem goes the same, and the principle is much realer.

Really? Not even the "this country's done nothing for me" and "I'm moving to Canada" parts?

I never said this country has done nothing for me.

I am moving to Canada though.

I refuse to pay a cent to BlueCross BlueShield or any other of those vultures.
