I noticed the uncanny similarity during social, as we were watching a documentary on the French Revolution. ^ Tennis Court Oath, French Revolution ![]() ^ Party Congress, Nazi Germany |

"There are strange things done in the midnight sun, by the men who moil for gold; the arctic trails have their secret tales that'd make your blood run cold... the Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see... was that night on the marge of Lake LeBarge, that I cremated Sam McGee." - Robert W. There was nothing wrong with that gesture before the Nazis. The Romans did it first, when yelling "Ave Cæsar" which meant Hail Caesar. The fascists in Italy adopted it, alluding to their Roman heritage. The Nazis liked it, so they adopted it too. |

The Swastika has also been around for thousands of years, but after the Nazis used it it got a bad connotation (well "bad" is putting it mildly, but you know what I mean.) |

If you look closely, my avatar has a swastika. Look closely at the star thing in the corner... the shape in the center, in black, is a swastika. |

If we are commenting on the fact that they both have an people in them raising hand then sure, they look alike. But I mean I think that's not an important observation. Raising hands has always been a universal expression of agreeing with something. |
