HISTORY IN THE MAKING 2008-2016

Good luck!

We've spent a good many years discussing politics, life, society and history. Most of all, the makers of history. The great events that changed the world - people, places, actions. Small acts have changed its hard-worn course, and effort and circumstance can make of its small actors immortal greats. In line with that sentiment, it seems pertinent now to recognize the potential of those who've made up this community for years, obvious through their contributions to the spirited debate and discussion that has proceeded here. HITM has sadly gone silent, though perhaps not lacking for things to say about making history, but rather for the realization that it is time we all commenced to do so, and make our mark.

Good luck to you all, see you in the history books!

True, Islamic terrorism is more organized than Christian terrorism, but I still say they're equally relevant. As I said, terrorism is terrorism, regardless of it's scale.

Not if you consider the Islamic terrorist attack an isolated incident. However, as we all well know, Islamic terrorist attacks are no isolated incidents.
This is the point he's making. A Christian terrorist group might stage on bombing in 10 years. An Islamic terrorist organisation might state 10 bombings in one year. Whilst it it obvious that the Islamist terrorists pose a bigger threat, the acts that they carry out are really just the same.

The attacks' results are the same, but I don't see how that means anything here. A Russian soldier killing an American soldier is the same as a rogue American soldier killing a fellow American soldier, yet it's not the same thing.

We're not arguing whether Islamic terrorist attacks are different from Christian ones; we're arguing whether Islamic terrorism is different from Christian terrorism. They don't have the same goals, and they're not as dangerous to the [free] world.

All terrorism has the same goal; to cause terror. That's why it's called "terror"ism.

Terrorism is a tactic that causes terror; that's not its goal. The goal of causing terror is to bring about a political change.

Yes, and that's the tactic, not the goal.

Perhaps it causes terrifying political change?

This is one case where I feel a little bad for the terrorists. I mean, the official position of the Russian government is literally "we will hunt them down and destroy them." Yes, they said destroy; not capture, not defeat, but destroy. And if Russia wants to destroy something, they'll do it.
They should have thought about that before they bombed the rail system. We will destroy them and will not rest until they are rotting in hell.

Has anyone ever wondered why in western countries it is incorrect to call terrorists terrorists? WHy call them "Islamic Extremists" when they are clearly terrorists? Similarly, Illegal aliens are "Undocumented Immigrants". Why is thr truth sugarcoated like that? That is like calling kidnappers "Unpaid Babysitters" or Somali Pirates "Merchant Marine Organizers"

It's called political correctness. Don't worry, though, more and more people are getting sick of it every day.

I wish Putin would just blow up Chechnya and, if possible, the whole caucasus...
Except maybe for Armenia.

Isn't that genocide and a war crime?

Or is it only bad if Americans or Jews do it? :hmm:

Nah, not like anyone would care about Georgia and Azerbaijan anyways. Also it would save a lot of Putin's time as all the anti-Putin reporters in Chechenya would die too. So it's win-win ;))
