Member Posts: 17 Group: Members Member #583 Joined: April 1, 2009	The reason that anything over a 540 will be illegal is that there is a width limit of 2.3 metres for towing with an ordinary vehicle. This is in the UK only - continental restrictions are different! If you intend towing anything in excess of this then the towing vehicle must be at least 3.5 tonnes and then you are starting to get into the large van range or the Hummer The other thing to consider is the weights and the recommended 85% towing limit (and the 100% legal limit!!)
