hello from the Moray Firth; mishaps with our new caravan

We live in Scotland on the Moray coast, hence my user name of Firth. We bought a brand new Hobby 495UL excellent from Annan on Red Nose Day. Thrilled about it.
We were staying in our old caravan. It was a mad rush to gather things together for the transfer. Everything got thrown into collapsable baskets on the beds.
Problem 1 - Hubby says, "Your duvet is wet" I looked & saw brown wet marks on it. "That's 'cos you dragged it through the mud." "No I didn't." "You wouldn't notice, anyway." "It's coffee," says he. I sniffed. he was right. Guess who hadn't emptied the coffee pot when he washed up?

Problem 2 - back at CL, plug in fan heater. PHUT! Electrics gone. Lasted about 30 secs every time we reset the trip switch.

Problem 3 - Evening by now. off to Tesco in Lockerbie for a duvet. They had double & king size, but NO singles. Bought a duvet cover & hubby slept with that & the dog's bed over him. We were fine with the gas, 2 wind-up lanterns, a solar wind-up radio, a wee LED light & charged batteries in the solar charger.
Next morning, back to Annan where they couldn't find anything wrong with electrics. All fine back at CL. I noticed a post-it note with a number on the caravan window. 13! Red Nose Day was - Friday March 13th! I'm not superstitious.

Problem 4 - went away for Easter weekend, Sunday evening hubby feels unwell. Lands in bed with tummy bug on Easter Monday, April 13th! The CL has no hook-up so the battery died. No running water. I was filling bottles with water to pour down the loo to flush it. Our other caravans gave us hot running water from the gas & we fully expected this one to do so. Battery got charged, CL was lovely & picturesque, easy for me to walk to village for provisions & paths for doggie walks. Have now added another wind-up lantern, a head light & a remote LED light to collection.

We go away next month, holiday starts 9th May so we're over 13th yet again! Ought I to become superstitious?

Hi Firth

I too stay on the Moray coast not far from Inverness

I have a 2007 495ufe bought new from European Trading, I would be interested to hear more about your dealer and how you found them

I would also be interested to know if you propose to service your Hobby and how...?

It is just that I have an approved mobile service engineer reccommended by Annan who is willing to come and carry out servicing at home if he can get 3 vans to make it worth his trip (regardless of make of van) just in case you might be interested.

Warranty book stamped..!

Tomm
