First of all, the 560 is 2.5 mtrs wide externally, therefore needs a vehiclewith a GVW of 3501kg or more to tow it legally in the UK. Are Police / VOSA strict, well, police may not notice but with your car the van will appear vey wide in relation to it, so may draw more interest from them. VOSA, if stopped by them, WILL impound your van until you find a suitable recovery vehicle to move it, and will prosecute as well. Towing illegally will invalidate your insurance, then you end up with a prosecution for having no insurance and get a hefty fine and minimum of 9 points, and very very expensive insurance renewal for the next 5 or 6 years. If you have an accident which is your fault, expect to suddenly find the insurance company hav ewithdrawn your cover as you knowingly were illegal. Then find the compenastion to whoever else is involved. What will others tell you,,,do it and take a chance,,,after all accidents only happen to others,,,,,,,,,,,dont they? If you do decide to risk it, please post where and when you will be on the road so that those of us who do abide by the law can avoid you. |

We had the same problem with our 560UF and solved it by storing the van in France and only using it on the continent. David |

This problem has been around for years and is well known to experienced Hobby owners..Sadly those who are new to Hobby's often come unstuck...Dealers will tell you it's OK to tow a large Hobby with a normal car..they are hardly likely to do themselves out of a sale by telling the truth..Ebay is one of the worst places where people are trying to sell large Hobby's and claiming it's OK to tow them with a big car or a 4X4..there are Hobby's on Ebay and all over the place that are being mis advertised in relation to how old they are..a few months back someone was selling a 2003 Hobby 710 which is really odd as Hobby stopped making that model in 2000..it's a minefield unless you look at this site BEFORE you buy Cheers Hobbynut |
