Victoire hit the ground running as soon as she entered Shell Cottage. Bandages... where were the bandages? She'd need those. And alcohol. And her mother's book on healing.

Her mother. Pausing, Victoire yelled, "Is anyone 'ome?" Silence. Good, she thought to herself. This would be easier without her mother breathing down her neck. Now... where was that book? Victoire ran into the kitchen, and began to pass her hands over the spines of all the books, reading their titles closely.

A Guide to Healing, read one thick, red book in particular. Perfect. She grabbed the book, then stopped as she heard a familiar sound of someone apparating into Shell Cottage.

Not a second too soon, Teddy appeared in the living room next to the couch clutching his arm and trying to stop the bleeding. At least he didn't Splinch. That would be majorly painful...as if the throbbing in his arm wasn't enough, he staggered into the kitchen and collapsed into a chair.

Only then did he raise his head, which was spinning, to see Victoire busying herself trying to look through a shelf of books. He tried to grin. It came out more as a pained kind of scowl, so he decided to keep his face emotionless for the time being. "Do you need any help? I can't really see, but if you do..."

Teddy felt dangerously sick again so he stopped talking. Taking a breath to clear his head his mind finally processed the situation. One, he was in Victoire's house. Two, he had no idea if her mother was home or not. Three, he was bleeding profusely and near falling asleep. Four, they were alone. Wow. Not the best mix of circumstances, really.

Victoire slid to a stop to watch Teddy pale, and this time she knew it was no joke. She bolted over to the kitchen cabinets, wrenching open various drawers before finally pulling out a cooking pan. "Zis will 'ave to do," she grumbled, more to herself than to Teddy. If there was one thing Victoire couldn't stand, it was the sight of vomit; but she would have to deal with it.

Pulling open a random drawer, she found a few old rags that would have to serve for bandage, and in the cabinet under the sink she found the alcohol. Grasping her wand, Victoire maneuvered a chair from the kitchen table so when she sat she was beside Teddy's injured arm. "Are you ready?" she asked, biting her lip anxiously. "On ze count of zree, I will take out ze glass. Okay?"

"What does she need the cooking pan for?" Teddy mumbled to himself, eyes closed, women were so strange! Then he realized that in this state it was best to hear and obey. Okay. He was fine with that.

Victoire walked over to him. He heard something about the count of three and glass. He couldn't really hear anything else at the moment, or see anything either. "Just...hurry up...p...lease." He said, opening his eyes again to see a temporary shade of crimson before his vision cleared.

Victoire's eyes grew even wider as Teddy seemed to faze in and out of consciousness. Screw it, she thought quickly, grabbing her wand and pointing at the glass, forgetting all about what she had previously said about the count of three.

"Accio glass!" announced Victoire, watching as the glass dislodged itself and hovered in the air briefly. In that moment, she grabbed the cooking pot and let the rather long shard drop into the pan with a loud clang and clatter. As expected, fresh blood began to gush from the wound, filling the kitchen with an unpleasantly metallic odor. Victoire held the pot under Teddy's wound to collect the blood while she rifled through the pages of the book at her side. Leisions... cuts... glass... anything!

Judging by Teddy's state, though, she didn't have time to search the index for assistance. Her eyes fell on Teddy, and then alcohol on the table beside her. She snatched up a towel, and poured some of the foul smelling liquid on the rag. A chill began to radiate from the fabric. "Teddy, I'm really sorry about zis..." grumbled Victoire, hesitating before she took the wet rag and pressed it against Teddy's arm.

Something akin to a knife seemed to pass through Teddy's arm cleanly, drawing out lots and lots of blood. His vision, which had cleared 30 seconds previously, suddenly swam again, he heard Victoire apologizing for something before a curtain of red descended and he smelled something upleasant.

Two seconds later extreme pain shot up his arm, with a feral sort of cry he finally slumped into his chair and lost conscious thought.

((Fleur should totally come home right now...lol...))

Victoire winced as Teddy cried out, but remained where she was. That was to be expected. With a wound like this, and alcohol, the sting must have been...

And then he seemed to drift in and out. Victoire couldn't tell from the angle she was sitting at if Teddy was fainting or not; but the fluttering of his eyelids must not have been good. She hesitated before pulling the damp rag off of his wound. It was pink with irritation; but at least now she knew it was clean. There was an awful lot of blood on the towel as well.

And Teddy still wasn't reacting. "Oh, my God," murmured Victoire. She thought of shaking Teddy, telling him to stay with her.

No. That would be a waste of time. Grasping the book once more, Victoire calmed herself enough to find the section on healing wounds. Clutching her wand in her hand, Victoire pointed at the wound on Teddy's arm and murmured the correct spell.

Skin began to stretch and fold over skin, lacing back together slowly, an intricate process. Standing, Victoire kneeled down beside Teddy, trying to see if he would react this--

"Victoire! Qu'est-ce que c'est?!" yelped a sharp voice behind her. Flinching as if the sound of her mother's voice caused her bodily harm, Victoire looked over her shoulder. "Bonjour, mum," she grumbled, standing rather anxiously.

"What is zis?!" declared Fleur once more, this time in English.

"This probably looks really bad," said Victoire, reverting away from her French accent without noticing; things were like they were when she was younger, in trouble. Before she had left for France. Her tone evoked the same guilt. "But Teddy... he tripped. And, and he fell. And there was this... this glass and he cut himself and..." This story sounded ridiculous, Victoire realized, so she bit her lip and went from a different angle. "Anyway, I invited him over... to be healed. See?" Turning to face Teddy once more, Victoire pointed at his arm, only to find there wasn't a blemish upon said arm. "...Oh, crap," murmured Victoire under her breath. At least my healing worked?

((ack! long post! but I had to squeeze Fleur coming in >< at least the plot shall be more interesting now?))

[say this happened about 90 minutes later...]

Teddy's eyes opened and stared straight into the white ceiling. The throbbing in his arm had gone. He was still in the chair, and the clattering of pans in the kitchen and the rapid conversation told him that he was definitely not alone with Victoire anymore.

He straightened. Immediately rolling up his sleeve he peered at where the cut used to be. Not so much as a slightly red area. Whatever Victoire did must've helped a lot, but now there were more pressing matters at hand...

As in, Fleur was home, and had turned around, and was staring at him with her bright blue eyes. He smiled tentavely. "Uh...hi...Mrs. Weasley...long time no see?"

((why're you complaining about long posts? that's really odd...))

Fleur plunged into a very long, very boring lecture about how Victoire didn't have to make excuses to invite a boy over while Victoire gathered up the dirtied kitchen supplies and began to clean. "It isn't as if it is ze fact zat 'e is 'ere zat bozers me," continued Fleur, oblivious to the queasy look on Victoire's face. She hated confrontations. "It is ze fact zat 'e is passed out! Where did you two go? If I didn't know any better, I would say zat you had had too much to drink at a pub! But I know you wouldn't do that, Victoire..."

"Yes, mum," murmured Victoire, flicking her wand at the sink so the pots began to wash themselves. Fleur, however, was not done.

"And why didn't you tell me ze truth? Ze fact zat you lied makes me vairy suspicious, and I wonder if I do have somezing to worry--"

Victoire jumped as she realized Teddy was awake. She breathed a sigh of relief, primarily because maybe now her mother might relax some.

"'Ello, Teddy," said Fleur rather stiffly, as it appeared she was taken off guard. "It 'as been a vairy long time, indeed. Alzough I must admit, the situation zat I 'ave caught you in is not suited for a 'appy reunion."

"Mum--" started Victoire, feeling her stomach sink to the floor.

"Do not interrupt, Victoire. Now, Teddy. If you 'ave a problem wiz firewhiskey, you should not feel forced to hide it. Why don't you join one of zose muggle clubs for alcoholics?"

((meh, I guess just because if I see a post that's really long, I always end up skimming over it, not really reading it, myself. So I just try not to make them too long, you know? now that I look at my last one, though it wasn't ridiculously lengthy, like what I may write when I get carried away ><))

"Eh...no, no, it's not that..." Teddy began, staring up at nothing in particular while Fleur was rambling on about something weird. Must've been a girl thing. Oh well. "I was just, well, I saw her at Honeydukes, and uh we were walking but I kinda fell...so, yeah."

He paused. That must've sounded really stupid, but hey, the truth is stupid sometimes anyways. Fleur raised an eyebrow at him, "You...fell." She stated skeptically. Teddy nodded in what he hoped was a very convincing way.

((oh...well, there's this other rpg I'm trying to apply for that wants monster posts like an essay long...))

Victoire nodded enthusiastically as Teddy spoke, hoping Fleur might appreciate his opinion more, though those chances were slim. As she skeptically stared at Teddy, though, Victoire picked up she was washing and pulled out the shard of glass, which glinted maliciously back at her.

Duh. Instead of trying to explain things, Victoire should have just shown her mother this from the start. "He fell on this," explained Victoire, handing it to Fleur with care.

The older woman inspected it carefully, running a finger down the sharp edge gingerly. Her eyes flicked up to stare at Teddy. "Zis was in your arm?" she exclaimed, eyes widening slightly. "Maybe it was poisoned..."

Victoire grumbled an indecipherable reply, embarassed at the thought that she had the same thinking as her mother. The last person she wanted to be like was Fleur. She turned back to cleaning.

((o.O ew. about the essay posts, I mean))

Teddy shook his head vigorously. "Even if it was poisoned the poison probably left with the blood, or else I'd probably be tied down to a bed in St. Mungo's and force fed some nasty potion."

His eyes roved over Fleur's face, then back to Victoire's, and back to her mother's again and he decided that they looked very much alike. Victoire seemed to have lost the accent, however. Intersting. He remebered how she did that in school, the whole of Slytherin house would burst out laughing before he hexed them.

Victoire paused in the flicking of her wand as there was silence, and she looked over her shoulder to see Teddy's eyes flickering between herself and her mother. Her own eyes returned back to the pot, which she now realized had been clean for quite a while now. Lifting her wand for the last time, she mumbled a spell that returned the pot to its original cabinet.

Plucking the glass from Fleur's hands, Victoire proceeded to throw it in a trash bin rather unceremoniously. "Zat is what should have been done in ze first place," said Fleur with a resolute nod. "Why would someone just leave ze glass lying out? People should--"

Victoire looked up with wide eyes as she realized she had said the exact same thing earlier. "Mum!" she declared, whirling around. Fleur looked up in alarm. Truth be told, Victoire was a bit surprised by her behaviour herself. She thought of telling Fleur off, perhaps ordering her to leave. But no. That would be cruel, Victoire decided. Clearing her throat, she turned back to Teddy. "Would you like something to drink, Teddy?" asked Victoire, feeling her face redden slightly.

He had to feel slightly sorry for the pot, as it was being scrubbed visciously by an invisible sponge. After Victoire asked him about the drink Teddy proceeded to stare at her face for a while before answering. Certainly he couldn't say anything weird in front of Fleur, of course, having just cleared up the alcoholic matter...

"Umm...I'll have water...or juice, your choice." He said. No need to bring up the matter again, he was thankful enough for the whole glass thing to be over. "Do you know what time it is?" Judging by the sky, it was slightly past sunset...

Fleur watched Teddy closely as he asked for his beverage, and Victoire bit her lips nervously as she opened a cabinet and picked up a glass. Opening the freezer, Victoire winced at the loud clatter that was made as she dropped several clumps of ice into the water glass.

As she walked to the sink, Victoire looked at the clock on the wall. "It's seven thirty," she said, filling the glass with water before placing it before Teddy simply. She rather hoped he had some where to be; this entire situation was becoming relatively awkward, and she could meet Teddy somewhere else later.

Somewhere without her mother.

Before he could stop himself a string of curses streamed from his mouth. Fleur's eyebrows rose up elegantly into her hair, shaking her head slightly. Teddy down the water in less than three seconds. An icy sensation filled his stomache. He was late!

"Oh...Merlin, sorry, I have to go, I was supposed to be buying candy for James since Ginny's sick and Harry's working. Yeah...I'll, uh, explain later, see you!" He brushed his lips across Victoire's cheek, "Next Saturday at Hogsmeade sound good to you?" He whispered in her ear, so that Fleur wouldn't hear.

Victoire's heart jumped as his face came very close to hers, and his lips neared her cheek. She listened to his words, ignoring the looks that Fleur was giving the pair. "In front of the Three Broomsticks," confirmed Victoire, barely moving her lips. She glanced over at her mother nervously, who was watching them closely. Clearing her throat, Victoire took a step back from Teddy and smiled at her friend, glancing at Fleur rather conspiratorally.

Victoire wished her mother wasn't here so she could kiss him. Next saturday. Wait until next saturday, she told herself. Next saturday! Why, that felt like ages--

"It was nice to see you again, Teddy," said Fleur, picking up Teddy's empty glass and pulling her wand out of her pocket to begin to clean. "You shall 'ave to come back again some time. Do not wait so long, zough."

"Alright, I'll be...back." Teddy replied to Fleur, winking at Victoire. "Now, if you will excuse me...I need to go before Ginny practices her hexes on me..."

Just two hours previously he'd been kissing Victoire at Hogsmeade, nearly killed himself over a piece of glass. Time did fly. He straightened his robes slightly and disapparated with a bang. A very loud bang, at that. Next Saturday...he'd have to mark off the days on his calendar.

Victoire smiled wider. "See you, Teddy," she said, leaning against a countertop as he apparated away. Fleur, however, blinked twice in reply before turning around and beginning to wash the glass. "'E is a nice boy," said her mother. "But what he does to 'is hair... It is a shame. Why blue?"

"I donno, I think it's sorta dashing," said Victoire, crossing her legs and looking down to the floor. Fleur shot a curious glance at her daughter over her shoulder, and Victoire instantly felt very uncomfortable. "I'll be in my room," she announced, tucking her hair behind her ear before exiting the kitchen and marching up the stairs. She closed her door softly behind her, and then sat on the bed she had slept in since she was ten.

Being home was weird, Victoire decided.
