Just to add more than a witty comment to the argument (yeah I know, I wasn't that witty), we had a few options that we could have moved foward with in the first weeks of release. In the end we went with what we believed was the most fair and constant method to the box office. None of the Script Contest Scripts had "ad budgets" in the traditional sence, instead all films started with an exact average of scores (not no scores, but what mid level films would do score wise) and than they all had voting scores. This ensured that unless one of the new openers was a big time flop, that they would open ahead of the crowd.

Was there other things we could do instead of sharing the pie with 8 films? Yeah. One option could have been to fill all theater spots and let the opener share the pie with 18 films (as an averge week will be fileld with). Anothe roption could have been to give the films huge sums of extra money and just have the two openers share ALL the cash. Just like option one, that did not fully seem fair. Another option could have been what Josh did back at the start of FM... Cut the amount of RL $ by more than half in the formula and just have two openers share the lowered amount. Another option yet would have been to cut down the number of theathers along with counting less rl box office. All in all, I think we took the most fair route.

As for the films sharing the pie being secret... it wasn't. Multiple people knew and I thought everyone knew.

This is where you are not used to being seperated from FM. Our formula that Marlowe made is different than the FM formula. Films are likely to make less. With the old formula their was distinct ways to take advantage of it and over ad budget films into automatically making 300 Million every time. Now, we have a little competetion and boy will it feel good when your film opens too huge numbers and goes on to break the bank.

Also, by grossing most out of all the short films, does that mean Todd Cricket won the Short Script Contest?

Nope, we are still waiting on full judge scores. Winning short film will be getting an extra prize.

Ooh, let me consult my crystal ball.

WINNING ENTRIES:
Will be added into theaters for all to see!
Will get a one time lump sum of 20 million in cold hard HTG Cash.
Will NOT get any box office returns (sorry).
Will get bragging rights.

What part of the short script contest rules above, would make us think all the films were sharing the pie?

Instead of posting witty comments and cheap digs on the quality of the movies(which btw were both very well recieved by critics), a simple apology for misleading us would have done.

That was directly refering to the player. And the player will not be gettign any box office returns. We kept sayingtime and again that these films were going into theaters. "Will be added into theaters for all to see!" Than they were voted on in theaters.

There was no implyed misleading going on, but I am very sorry if you got the wrong impression. That was not intended at all. And to note, my witty comment was not a dig at all, I have no reason to put down any of the films (I would have even liked more released week 1), nor would I put down any of the films.

RS, I wasn't accusing you of saying anything about any of the films quality, and if it's such a big deal that the early films don't have an unfair advantage, pull ours. We'll release when the box office system suggests it's fair to release. That's all I have to say on this issue. Not a good start to the game.

We'll release when the box office system suggests it's fair to release.

That is exactly the point here. As we have done things is fair. Just about any other way would not have been fair. What else do you want me to say?

Ritchie, Sure's right. The films shouldn't make TWICE the money that they would have normally. That's just not right. (And twice is conservative, with the low release numbers on the calendar and the holidays coming.)

Ba da BING!

I think we're off to a fine start.
