FOR THOSE WHO NO LONGER VISIT THE FT FORUMS: So, what do we have here? We have Low Calorie FT which, at the moment anyway, is essentially just a forum (a fine-ran forum though). We have Hollywood The Game which, in my opinion, is a little too far on the overly-complex side (maybe I'm just dumb). We've got Fantasy Film Maker which looks alright but I'm not too sure about it. Movie Tycoon 3, as I see it, is the best looking game out there so far and the closest to playing like FT. However, it's ran by Averex which I've heard some interesting things about. GUINNESS BOY is complete! I finished it tonight! I want to release it so all the peeps in fake movie world can check it out and appreciate as I think it's my best work to date (I know, I say this all the time). So here's my real question. Where are all of you, the majority of players, going to go? I want to share my movie on the site where most people will go. I want to wait for DD and PP's 'mini-FT' because I respect those guys but I'm quite anxious to release my film and I have no idea when their site is going to be complete (any rough estimates guys?). At the moment I think I'm going to take GUINNESS BOY to Movie Tycoon 3 but I want to know what all of you think first. GUINNESS BOY needs a home! Thanks. KEN |

If you're looking for the biggest "fake movie word" audience, it's definitely here at HtG at the moment. If you're looking for the most ex-FTers, I have no idea. However, if you've got a finished script, I have no doubt that it'll be picked up and released, if you do decied to picth it here. |

Yea, well he certainly is an interesting one... and don't exactly count on it running long... Movie Tycoon 2 lasted approximately 2 weeks. I've had the 'honor' of working with him on Hollywood Tycoon, which only lasted a week, before he hacked the MB and the game sort of dissolved. But it was restarted between me and Daniel Thomas (The original co-owner), and had a good run of a few months, before we called it quits, due to lack of interest. He also claims to decide the Box Office numbers on a largely complicated 'formula', which seems more or less like some numbers randomly thrown out, depending on his mood towards you, and he refuses to explain what he factors into it... Sorry, seems I have gotten on a wee bit of a rant. Just don't get on his bad side, or endure weeks of filthy IMs... |

Yeah, Rick Arnold, that's exactly what I heard about the Movie Tycoon games which is why I'm incredibly skeptical to join. mc48, I'd like to bring it here where the largest audience is but, and I may sound like a whiny baby here, these are the reasons why I'm not entirely sure I'd like this game: -I liked being in charge of all my own stuff at FT and here you have to go through studios. -The whole housing idea, even though original, seems a little overboard for me personally. -GUINNESS BOY clocks in at 7785 words which, in the FT days, would've been considered a massive summary. Here it'd be considered tiny. I have it the way I like it for now and I wouldn't want to make it any larger. Then again, like I said before, I'm probably just dumb.

You don't have to buy a house or apartment it just means you can't own things like cars or any other extra things (to be announced). I didn't have a house in FM and it didn't effect me too much. |

I can only speak for my own studio and the studios i've worked with in the past, but we only act on an advisory basis. We don't try to force anyone to do anything. If there areas of the production process you don't want to handle then we'll take sole responsibility. Mc48, the producer on U.F.I's first release 'Shades Of God asked for 100% control. He did everything himself. Wrote, edited, did the website, posters and designed the trailers. It's up to you how much control you have. Just state this when you make a deal with a studio.
It's a work in progress at the moment. It'll make much more sense and bring more fun to the game once everything is in place. Btw, it's not compulsory you take part in this side of the game.
This has been answered quite a few times lately. Summary's are welcome in the game. Many of our players write short scripts. Sure the majority of successes in our predecessor F-M we're longer works, but there were some trully memorable summary's amongst them. All said and done if your work is of a good quality it will do well here, regardless of the format. Sureshot |

Thanks for that breakdown, Sureshot. When you say trailers, are you talking about an actual flash trailer like the banners that appear above or written trailers? So, if I throw my idea up in the proper area and state that I'd like to write, edit, make the posters and do the Web site (if the trailers have to be in the flash format then someone else would have to take that on) they'd be cool with it? Also, I like to do choose the director and the casting. Would I be allowed to do this also? Thanks! |

I can only speak for my studio, but I think the others are the same: yeah, if you wanna handle all the stuff for your film, you are more than welcome to. The only thing is, with director and cast, we let our producers choose who they want, but some times producers want a cast that is a little too big in terms of budget and we talk to them and decide on a few options.

By trailers i mean the ad's that are posted on these boards for each film. Posters and text. Films had to be greenlit in FT to go into production. It's no different here. Except there's five studios doing the greenlighting rather than the whole community. if you throw your film up chances are it may not get picked up. If you present a well planned, interesting idea on the boards chances are one of the studios will approach you. Sureshot |

Or alternatively, you could get it ridiculed for not being good enough. (Sorry, but I just feel that way) |

Fortunately Marcotte and others did not choose to come along on the new ride or it would have been inifitely worse. But we're all mature here, and we know the occassional idiot is going to find a way into every game. So just ignore people whose criticism is only meant to hurt not help. |
