The franchise doesn't exist...yet; This may need to be moved elsewhere...?

Obviously I'm new here, and am obligated to ask/say noobish stuff.
So, here's the deal:
I have a movie idea to pitch. It is a sequel to a 2001 movie whose rights are not owned or available for sale here. I would like to own the franchise since,
A: I already have further sequel ideas in mind.
B: I'm the one introducing it here.
I realize things may not work that way. But the idea that I might need to raise millions of dollars to buy the rights to a movie that I'm proposing doesn't sound right. That's why I have carefully danced around giving the title of the original movie. If needed, I will make a few re-writes, and end up with an original movie that is similar to "that other one".
I'm sure everything will make more sense as I gain experience. But as a new player, I find this game extremely complicated.
Any advice?

I think you can make A. Sequel to a Film like that. If not you should just make a couple of back up scripts or review films then make a thread in the "Franchise" sub forum Lucian will give you a price and that should leave you a goal to how much money you need to make. So to make money review a couple of films pitch a couple of shows/movies. You'll get there.

Hey, Filminator

I'm Quantum and I run Lake Hope Features. This forum is for asking the price for franchises not owned by other player or listed on the available franchise list on the main site. What you need to do is post a new topic with the title of the movie and then the franchise admin (Lucian) will price it for you. Once the price is released you can contact one of the studio heads (since you're new) and you and them can work out a deal for who'll pick up the franchise costs (likely them).

Anyways, hope that helps, and welcome to the game.
