[align=center]Montana. Wide expanses with few people. There are still treasures yet to be discovered.

In the late 1800's while many left the territory for the California Gold Rush, miner-adventurer Charlton Faust took advantage of the competition leaving and sought out Montana's own harder to find gold.

Over a century later young Stanford Jones has found Faust's journal which tells not just of gold, but the legendary gold horde of the Blackpaw tribe. Could it be real? The imaginings of a liar?

As Stanford follows Faust's footsteps into the Montana wilderness he'll seek out the adventure he's always dreamed of.

[align=center]...this goes on my shortlist for Best Cinematography.

Jeffery Dean Morgan plays dual roles; both the father and legendary treasure hunter Charlton Faust. Morgan has the chops to make both roles distinct and he goes on my Best Actor shortlist.

Stylistically there's a lot to like here. Whether its depictions of a child's imagination or cutting effortlessly from past to present and back without ever being jarring. And the text feels alive. It conveys imagery very well. So, back to that Yoda Shortlist, I think director Brad Bird and the screenplay itself could still be on my mind when the next awards nominations roll around.

79.4/100
