Anything you really hate (or just dislike) in fakemon, fangames, etc. Here are pretty much my top two: Psychic/Dark/Fighting type triangles. Yes, I get everyone likes Dark-types, but really guys? There are a TON of other more viable triangles than this. ._. Grass-type snake starters that evolves into BIGGER GRASS TYPE SNAKES. I have seen so goddamn many of these, and I've even made one myself for the lulz (it evolved into a Grass/Ghost hydra though). To add insult to injury most of them are just green snakes with a leaf on their head. |

Grass snakes are pretty obsolete now thanks to Smugleaf, aren't they? I haven't seen any in a while. I despise the light type. To be specific, the Acanthian light type. There's a lot to do with light (lightbulbs, natural satellites, glowworms, bioluminescence, etc., etc.) but people fall into the trap of making everything overly effeminite and angelic. |

That reminds me, I designed a new look for my deep sea fish-dragon a while back. Which, if I could call it a light type, would be a massive middle finger to the effeminate and angelic ones. |

Why would a blind Pokemon be a light type. That just doesn't make sense |

Because of the bioluminescence. This is the line's to-be-redone designs: http://aviculor.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d1xgy19 . I might redesign the first two stages altogether.

Light type just overall doesn't fit in with the type chart, nor is it needed. Dark type in pokemon does mean FOR MY DARK LOLORD I USE TEH EBIL MAGICKS. In the Japanese games, The word they use for dark type just means something along the lines of dirty fighter. I mean, not all dark types are teh douche, but still. Not enough to warrant a light type. Furthermore, dark was added into the game to balance Psychic, which was overpowered in gen 1. Edited by CardiacHero, Nov 14 2010, 10:53 PM.

iirc, Bug wasn't strong against Psychic either, leaving Psychic's only check as the Gastly line. Light is one of the 'miscellaneous' pseudo-categories that get lumped into Normal type, along with Sound. Healing/Medicine too if you don't consider that Light too. |

And the gastly line wasn't even an effective check because a) the only move that dealt proper damage (i.e. not night shade) was lick of all things, and b) the programmers screwed up and made psychic immune to ghost instead of weak to it. Being part poison actually made the gastly line terrible counters to psychics. New types in general tend to irritate me a little, because most people just think "oh hey this particular word sounds cool and doesn't mean /exactly/ what an existing type means brand new type yay!" and you end up with ridiculous redundancies (heat, wood, air, etc.), or at the very least new things slapped on with no concern as to how they interact with the current types balance-wise. People do it more because it's cool than because they're actually trying to correct balance issues, which is most of why dark and steel were even added. I would kind of like to do some experimenting with the type chart (including a non-idiotic implementation of light just to see if I can make it work), but that'd probably be a separate project in and of itself and would start by tweaking existing types just to be sure none of them could fill any of the necessary holes. Maybe make bug weak to poison again, for example, because poison could really stand to be less godawful offensively, or give poor ice one extra resistance (hm, dragon needs a check, wonder how well I could swing that). I don't know, I'm not really focusing on that now, but that seems like a better way to approach changes to the type chart. Or at least pull a Game Freak and introduce a new type that is intended almost solely to fix imbalance. (We shall not speak of the slew of horribad new types I added to my own earliest projects. oh dear sweet god the nightmares) A friend of mine was also wondering aloud about a hypothetical project that attempted reducing the number of types so that Pokémon ran a little closer to other games with simpler elemental systems, and seeing what cutting or combining types would do to the chart and the game. That sounded pretty cool, actually, and I might try it one day when I have my current dexes out of the way. |

I made a fake type, but you can't really argue that "mutant" isn't original. Genetic themes are basically untouched apart from Eevee, Ditto and Deoxys and I can't even think of anything based around radioactivity. I don't remember all the balances I made, but I remember that it's 2x on fighting and takes 2x from normal (lulz). |

Most Light types are lolLiteralLight or lolHolyStuff, but I'd say if it ever were to be made (which it wouldn't) it'd be more of the Holy part, as well as some associated with the Sun, Moon, and Stars. To use some of Kam's examples: lightbulbs would be more electric or steel, natural satellites would be rock, as I'd only associate Earth's moon under a Light type, and glowworms and bioluminescence wouldn't really need any type associated with them. As discussed in many episodes of Pocket Spriter, Fire types that are just animals with Fire on them. I mean, even if you're going to do that, at least have it be somewhat creative in how it's used. |

I hate it when people make hybrids and market them as fakes. I don't care if you invented some magical item or method that makes BEING A SPECIES a codominant trait, it's an abomination.

Or when people us a Pokemon as a base for its evolution. For example, someone made a "Dunsparce evolution," which was just a Dunsparce that was edited. |

There are too many Firefighters in the actual games. We don't need more of them. |

I don't like Fakedexes where it's mostly made up of "normal" animals, especially mammals, and ESPECIALLY cats and dogs. And they have these doe eyes and barely look like their element. |

This is true. I think it's the product of the younger, "I only like canine and feline pokemon" demographic which makes sparkledogs and fursonas. And, I mean, who can blame them for making what they like? It sure as hell isn't creative though. You know what I don't like? Floating balls with faces. Sure, Pokemon did it a fair few times, but then you get stuff like this and holy heck man, someone needs to take away your circle tool before your hurt yourself. |
