History
OOC: This section shall only contain the history of the Philippine Islands which is different from the history of the RL Philippines

The Philippine Islands began a revolution against colonial rule in 1794 and proclaimed their independence in 1797 under the leadership of Diosdado Estrada. In the Philippine War for Independence (1794-1806), the Philippine capture of the Western mainland including Manila encouraged several nations such as Britain and Portugal to aid the Philippines in its fight against Spain.

On Jume 14, 1797, the Makapaba or Mataas na Katipunan Para sa Bayan (High Order for the Nation) declared the independence of "The Philippine Islands" in General Diosdado Estrada's house in Calamba, Laguna. The nation was founded on the ideals of liberalism as was the wish of the majority of the Makapaba under the efforts of Jose Malvar.

Diosdado Estrada, General of the Makapaba and President of the Constitutional Convention, went on to become the very first President of the Philippine Islands under the Freedom Constitution (1807).

The major achievement of the Estrada administration was the creation of a centralized government recognized by all Filipinos. Estrada and his Vice President, Luna, set up a taxing system for imports in order to pay for the various infrastructure projects they have developed.

Juan Casanova defeated Malvar in the 1813 elections. This administration was known for Spain's continuing hostility against the Islands despite its defeat seven years earlier. The Spanish foreigners armed the Muslims in the Southern part of the nation and filled their minds with ideas of secession and a separate Islam state.

In response to this, the Casanova administration declared war on the Spaniards in 1815. The War of the Philippine-Spanish Forces ended in a bitter draw in 1818. Neither the Filipinos nor the Spaniards gained territory but the Islamic separatists were silenced after siding with Spain during the war.
