Esprit Forest was a rather nice area for a Pokemon to live, assuming it could keep itself warm. Currently, there was snow drifting lightly from the sky, the large white flakes coating the ground in a soft layer. This wasn't quite the blessing it may seem like at first, however, as every footstep, no matter how skilled the Pokemon is at hiding it, could be heard, crunching as it was compacted. The sky was a light grey color as the clouds were illuminated by the sun shining brightly behind them. Judging by the sun's position, it was some time in the afternoon. Most of the light, however, was filtered out by the branches of the evergreens that made up the forest. The thick, pine-green needles trapped bunches of snow, which built up and left the majority of the forest floor in the cool shade. Of course, that coolness was probably the last thing the majority of the Pokemon living there wanted. All around, Pokemon could be heard chattering among each other. Various avian Pokemon chirped and cawed in the trees. Closest to Krypt were a pair of Pidgey, who were bickering about who would get the last berry they had found. Besides them, Pachirisu and Emolga played in the trees, moving as much as they could to keep their tiny bodies warm in the cold temperature. Beyond that, it seemed to be a pretty quiet, average day in Esprit Forest. A Zigzagoon could be seen pawing through the snow, searching for something to eat. Its head popped up, however, frightened by something. The Pokemon looked around for a moment before darting away in a zigzagging line, leaving quite the odd trail of footsteps behind it. All of a sudden, a hushed silence took over the forest. The Pokemon all had stopped chatting and moving, turning their attention to an odd sight in their forest. A large, green, quadrupedal Pokemon walked through the snow on thin, dainty legs that ended in boot-like hooves. The Pokemon's blue eyes looked about, glowing with mischievous amusement that was so uncharacteristic for the normally majestic Virizion. Odd-- Didn't Virizion have red eyes? The Pokemon didn't seem to notice this fact, however, and were all awed at the sight. While the majority of them were clueless as to what Virizion was, or why they should care, they all felt as if they should instinctively respect the Pokemon's presence. After a moment, the Virizion's gaze fell onto Krypt, smirking playfully, eyes shining in amusement. |

Krypt trudged along the path he'd been following, head held high and tail held higher to keep his flame safe. Excitement shined in the charmander's eyes as he walked. There was so much to explore! He didn't know where to start! The way was also absolutely littered with pokemon. Krypt chuckled happily at the pidgey squabbling about the berry and the two squirrely-ish pokemon playing. As the hush descended, Krypt looked around puzzled. Why was everyone being quiet? As the virizion appeared through the trees, Krypt paused. Something about this pokemon demanded respect. Krypt felt his curiosity building as he inspected the newcomer. He'd never seen a pokemon like this. Did it live here usually? Was it new? Was it just that rare? The questions raced around his head faster than the zigzagoon who had taken off earlier. The virizion's gaze landed on him, and Krypt felt his blue eyes fizzle with excitement. Any of the pokemon who could see his tail might be able to make out a small blue flame that had appeared in the center of the fire on his tail. Without thinking of the consequences, Krypt bounded forward towards the strange pokemon. His curiosity was no longer containable, <Who're you? What kind of pokemon are you? Do you live here? Why is everyone else being so quiet? Why'd you look at me? Wanna do something? We could have an adventure. Do you want to have an adventure?> the charmander's mouth rapid-fired at the legendary. The entire time the fire-type was running around and under the grass/fighting-type, trying to satisfy his curiosity. He reemerged from his erratic racing and stood in front of the mysterious pokemon, panting ever so slightly. He looked at the virizion, head tilted a bit to the side. Something about the pokemon before him seemed... off. It was different from a normal pokemon. Krypt took another look at the pokemon in the area. None of them were making a sound, and they all seemed to be trying to keep as still as possible. It was almost as if everyone in the area were holding their breath. The young charmander's brow furrowed. What is going on here? he wondered. As though on cue, he felt a warm sensation in his chest and his mother faded into view behind the virizion. Mom! he cried inwardly with joy. He made to rush over to her, but she held up a claw to stop him. He gave her a puzzled look, Mom, who is this pokemon? His mother opened her mouth and spoke to him, <One who has protected from humans for many times, and will do so for many more,> she informed him. The message didn't seem to make any sense, but before he could ask for clarification she smiled at him and faded away again. Krypt was left staring at the place where she'd been more confused than he'd been a moment ago. He looked back at the virizion, questions and excitement dancing in his large, blue eyes. |

The Virizion laughed as Krypt assaulted it with questions and ran about and underneath it. The Pokemon lifted up one booted hoof from the ground at one point, as the Charmander was in danger of running into it head first if it didn't. The Pokemon's chuckle came once more when Krypt stopped running around. Its laugh was definitely mischievous, as if the Pokemon were searching for trouble somehow. Rather than answering any questions Krypt may have had, the Virizion remained silent. It tilted its head, blue eyes tracking Krypt as the young Charmander moved. Every movement almost seemed unnatural when the Virizion moved. It was as if the Pokemon were unaccustomed to its own body, causing it to appear awkward more so than smooth and majestic. As much as it seemed to demand attention and respect, its gawky movements seemed to say otherwise. The Pokemon in the forest hesitated a moment before going back to their lives, uninterested in what Virizion was doing. In that moment, the forest seemed to come back to life suddenly, and the silence faded away. As Pokemon went back to whatever they had been doing previously, the forest filled with chatter. Avian Pokemon chirped in the trees while small mammalian Pokemon trudged through the snow and foraged for food. As Pokemon lost interest, Virizion seemed to sadden suddenly. It looked to Krypt with hope shining in its eyes, only to see the Charmander focusing on something beyond it. When it turned to look behind itself, there was nothing but thin air, but the Kanto native seemed to be intently focusing on that spot, as if something was there. With a disappointed and defeated sigh, the legendary Pokemon lowered its head, eyes closing for a moment. When Krypt looked back to the Virizion, he would find himself peering at it just in time to see the air shimmer around it, seeming to grow distorted. Green turned into pink and the Pokemon shrank in size, becoming significantly smaller, although a long, lithe tail began to form as well. When the air stopped shimmering, a Mew was left in its place, blinking with baby blue eyes at Krypt. The Pokemon stood a good eight or so inches shorter than Krypt, peering up with hopeful enthusiasm at him. The Pokemon of the forest seemed to pay no attention to the newly formed Mew, ignoring its presence completely. This seemed to damper the Mew's spirits, but it was banking on Krypt playing along for a while to keep it company. With its tail swishing back and forth a few times, it hovered up into the air before floating west, as if it were weightless. The Pokemon seemed to defy gravity, and with a high pitched 'mew,' it flicked its tail, beckoning for Krypt to follow. The Pokemon would move forward a few feet before turning to peer at the Charmander with wide blue eyes to make sure he was following. What kind of Pokemon could this be, shapeshifting between legendaries? And why did the Pokemon in the forest seem to lose interest in it? It was up to Krypt to find out. |
