Well this is a bush to take a nap in, which is probably why you chose it. It's covered in heavy smelling flowers, which cover your scent quite nicely. It's a lively time in Esprit forest right now, sadly you aren't seeing any of it as you're asleep. That was destined to change, however; as an enormous crash echoes around the area. The noise is surely enough to wake you, rather abruptly. As you blink open your eyes you can make out the starry night sky through the branches of the bush above you. Though the sun has set, it seems as though Esprit is still full of activity.

In fact, that crash you heard wasn't too far off. If you cared to look out the front of the bush you would be able to make out an ever growing crowd was gathering around... something. Nocturnal pokemon were there in abundance, from noctowls and venomoths to spinaracks and murkcrow. A heated debate started up, but sadly you're too far away to hear what is being said. Something has obviously happened, something big for all these pokemon to be debating about it.

At that moment a hush falls over the crowd as all heads turn to look to the left. A branch is blocking your view to that direction, so for a few moments you're left waiting to know who is approaching. A particularly large hypno wanders into view with a sneer on it's face. Behind it trail yet more pokemon, although these seem to be diurnal pokemon who like you were awakened by the commotion. The crowd parts for the hypno, as though whatever had occurred was up to his digression.

At that moment, you hear a crack directly over your head and an ekans crash lands on your head. Apparently it had been asleep in some of the upper branches of the bush. It's tail falls directly between your eyes as the sharp noise causes the entire configuration of assembled pokemon to turn in your direction. The bush offers concealment if you choose to try and hide, but your chances aren't looking good in that regard.

The chilly night air ruffles your fur as the hypno raises it's voice in an authoritative manner, <Who is there?>

Scout woke with a start, blinking the sleep from her eyes and looking around with shock. Had she heard someone? Peering out of the nice-smelling bush, the Zigzagoon caught sight of a large band of pokemon. Curious, she considered going over there to meet them and see what the commotion was. After all, they wouldn't be mean to a small pup, would they?

Around that time, Scout heard a crack from above and tried to scurry out of the way as an Ekans fell on top of her. Yelping, she shot out of the bush, most likely carrying the Ekans with her as she haphazardly zig-zagged towards the group of pokemon. Stopping in front of the Hypno and panting, Scout looked up with wide eyes. "I-I'm Scout! I'm sorry if I intruded, but I was sleeping under a bush wh-when that Ekans fell on top of me!" She said frantically, twitching her ears and looking around for said Ekans. "P-please don't hurt me..."

The hypno looked down at the small zigzagoon, contempt on it's face. <I ain't gonna hurt you long as you don't cause no trouble. Say you were in that bush?> the pokemon pointed at the bush Scout had been under. <You see what went down?> the hypno demanded. The pokemon stepped to the side and allowed Scout her first glimpse of what had made all the commotion. In a small crater in the center of the ring of pokemon was a curled up ball.

The ball was covered in soot, under which a green brick pattern could be seen. As everyone watched, the ball slowly uncurled, revealing a shiny sandshrew. The mouse pokemon blinked weakly up at the gathering and opened it's mouth. In a horse voice that held no more strength, it spoke <It comes. Colors of bruise, it flies in the night, anything that moves, the brutal one will fight.> With that the shiny pokemon collapsed from exhaustion.

Panic erupted from the surrounding pokemon. <Our children are in danger!>

<What did it mean!? Who's coming?!>

<Why is that sandshrew green? What's wrong with it?!>

<QUIET THE LOT O' YA!> the hypno roared. The group settled down, although some muttering persisted. The hypno took a deep breath and turned to scowl at Scout. <You knew 'bout this?> the hypnosis pokemon searched the zigzagoon's face. <Don't matter, yur gonna take care o' this little problem that we got. And make it snappy,> the hypno turned and began heading back the way it had come, <Because no one wakes Yurd and get's away with it!> Yurd, despite being a nocturnal pokemon, stumbled away sleepily. The rest of the pokemon quickly dispersed, leaving you and the unconscious shiny sandshrew alone at the crash site.

Mayday!

A mysterious shiny sandshrew has crashed in Esprit forest, waking everyone up! As the one closest to the scene, and one that is unknown in these parts, you have been tasked with deciphering the cryptic message and resolving the seeming doom. Work quickly though, Yurd, the hypno in charge of this small part of the forest, isn't too happy about the balance being upset. The clock is ticking!

Scout blinked, looking with interest at the Sandshrew. She could have sworn her mama told her they were yellow. Oh well, that wasn't the only problem. "Well, sir. To be honest I was asleep, so I have absolutely no idea what is going on. If you need help, I can try, but I'm only a small pup." She answered, shifting from foot to foot and twitching her ears. What was going on? Upon hearing the Sandshrew's ominous message, then hearing the scattered mutters of concern, Scout began to ponder. "What kind of pokemon could he be talking about?" She muttered. "It sounds like a big, mean bird poke-"

She was cut off as the Hypno roared, silencing her and everyone else's mutterings. When he turned to Scout, she shook her head. "Like I said, sir, I have no idea what's going on. I was asleep, and I didn't cause it! I'm a pup!" She said quickly, looking around at the panicking pokemon. She then sighed and nodded her head as Yurd left. "I'll try my best!" She called after him, wagging her tail and twitching her ears. Though it was night, and most young pups would be scared, she was determined to help these people out.

Slowly, glancing around for anything suspicious, Scout made her way up to the crater. Peering down, she saw the unconscious Sandshrew surrounded by rocks and dirt. How had the pokemon made such a large crater? What had caused it to happen? Was it the pokemon that the Sandshrew was warning them of? Scout decided to search the area and see what she could find. She explored around the crater and searched for anything suspicious or interesting. Is there anything, or anyone, hiding here?

Lacy decided to find a trainer to mess with as it was so dark out now. She was starting to feel a bit hungry, so a little food theft would be fun! As she glided through the air she noticed what seemed to be. Clearing of a gathering. Perhaps they left some food behind!

She let herself decend to the ground where she found only one small Zigzagoon and a sort of crater. Whats going on here? she asked, subtly disappointed that there was no food to be found. Still, there seemed to be something happening.

She approached the crater in the ground looking at the sandshrew. Oh, hey, look at him! He's green! the vibrant Emolga exclaimed in surprise. She turned back and looked at the Zigzagoon, realizing it was only a pup. This struck her with a bit of confusion.

Why was a pup awake so late? Shouldn't the pup be sleeping? Well, no need to dwell on that. Well? she asked, referring to her first coment upon landing

(Just your friendly neighborhood mod here to post rolls! Oh, and before I forget, remember that on Ilyria each post needs to be at least 300 words. I know you two can do it!)

As Scout searches the area around the crater, she needs over a 12 to find something. Let's see if it happened...

Wonder if you found something? Why don't we take a look...

Moon Stone

Scout's searching has paid off. Beside the collapsed sandshrew is a dark stone. The mouse pokemon had fallen half on top of it as it had collapsed. Dark smudges littered the stone, as though it and the sandshrew had both been expelled into the ground together. If Scout goes up to it she will then feel powerful change radiating from the stone. As for her exploration, she needs a 12 or higher to uncover something. Good thing she's got some practice...

Scout is so distracted by the powerful stone that she isn't able to discern any secrets or clues from the surrounding area.

(Sadness about the Explore, YAY for the Moonstone 8D)

Scout looked over with surprise as she saw a vibrantly colored Emolga land beside her and speak to her. Her eyes immediately lit up and her tail wagged. Could this pokemon help her, and be her knew friend? Oh, she hoped so! Her tail wagged even more when she glanced into the crater and became transfixed upon the sight of a Moonstone under the Sandshrew.

Completely ignoring Lacy, Scout skidded down into the crater and stumbled haphazardly over to the green Sandshrew, nosing it and then dragging out the Moonstone with her teeth. She then examined its dark color and stared in awe as she felt power radiate from it. What on earth was it, and what did it do? She turned and woofed at the Emolga, beckoning her down to see what Scout had found. She then turned and shook the Sandshrew with her paw, then licked its face in an attempt to wake it up, then she placed the Oran Berry her mother had given her a while back beside the Sandshrew, which she'd urge it to eat, given that it woke up. She needed some answers, and fast, or her curiosity would burst!

The Sandshrew blinked its eyes open, weakly glaring at the young Zigzagoon as it eyed the Oran Berry, then the Moonstone. "Do...you really think...that I would...trade the Moonstone for a simple....Oran Berry?" He said with very raspy, breathless words.

Scout blinked, slightly taken aback. "I...I didn't know it was yours, sir. Do you want it back?" She asked, pushing the Moonstone towards the Sandshrew. "Also, what is it? And what is going on? What's this bruise-colored flying monster you keep talking about?"

The green Sandshrew shivered, snatching up the Oran Berry and biting into it without so much as a nod of thanks. It sighed in contentment as energy spread back through it, and its eyes began to shine again in the light of the waning moon. He then finished off the fruit and stood up shakily, resting on his backside in a semi-upright position. He shook his head. "He's too big and scary to describe. You will have to see yourself....when he returns." the shew-like pokemon replied. "As for the stone, it is an Evolutionary stone with strong powers that can transform some pokemon into stronger, more evolved versions of themself. It is quite amazing, really, and the stone is quite rare. To be quite honest, I had no use for it anyway. The only think I have use for is you and possibly that Emolga. I need that monster dead, or it will ravage the forest. That is all." He finished, standing up the rest of the way and turning. "I must leave now. I cannot be caught out in the dark again, so weak, while that thing is still alive. I wish you the best of luck, my fellow pokemon." He bowed, then began to walk away, and eventually disappeared.

Blinking and quite confused, Scout picked up the Moonstone and turned to the Emolga, whether she was beside her or not. "Hey, you! Will you help me?" She called, sitting on her hind legs as she pondered what to do. She just hoped no dangerous pokemon were lurking around anymore. Goodness, she needed some sleep....

Lacy didn't like being ignored, especially by some pup. She looked as the other Pokemon approached the sandshrew. Little brat, I was talking to you! she thought to herself, though not spoken out loud. She didn't want to lose any chance of getting something out of this, and as she watched the Zigzagoon make her way down to the sandshrew.

She then noticed something really attractive to her, she had never seen anything like it! She wanted the pretty dark stone, and she was going to get it! One way, or the other. Still she had to find a way to obtain it without using a charm, because it was obvious the Zigzagoon was a girl.

She glided down and landed next to the Zigzagoon as the Sandshrew spoke. All she heard was 'powerful, rare, and valuable.' She knew that she had to get the stone, it was just to cool! She watched the sandshrew leave, and the Zigzagoon take possession of the stone.

As the pup turned back to her he smiled. This would be easy! Yeah I'll help! Although, what am I helping with? she responded happily. She hoped her "helping" would land her the pretty stone. The valuable stone.. She only had to hope the pup would be gullible enough to fall for some of her tricks.

Scout smiled, wagging her tail and giving a small 'woof'. "Really? You'll help me figure out what the green Sandshrew was saying, and defeat a big monster? If you help me, maybe we can share this um...Moonstone, and then we can figure out what it does! I really have no idea, and I like having people around! Friends are awesome!" She yipped, spinning around in a quick circle before glancing around and losing a bit of her energy. "But...it is kind of dark. We should probably get out of this crater after searching around just once more. Then we can go look around up there, and possibly get a bit of sleep before searching for the flying monster tomorrow!"

Scout looked at Lacy and tilted her head, her eyes shining despite the puppy being tired. Carrying the stone with her, she walked closer to the flying electric squirrel and pushed the stone towards her. "Why don't you hold onto the stone? It would be more easy to carry for you, plus I..." She started, then stretched her mouth in a large yawn. "I might drop it." She finished, blinking and then leaping over to the edge of the small crater, sniffing around and then looking closely at the rocks. She turned and examined the whole crater before stopping.

Because her curiosity was getting the better of her, she did one more quick sweep of the crater before placing her paws on the side in preparation to clamber up the side. She turned back to Lacy. "You coming?"

Oh great, she's gonna talk my ear off! Lacy thought to herself as Scout just kept talking. The Zigzagoon seemed a bit energized for it being so late! Well what ever, Lacy wanted the stone and she would get it, no matter how much she had to put up with for it!

She figured that as the Zigzagoon mentioned sleep, she knew the perfect time to get the stone. She didn't expect, however, that the poor thing would be stupid enough to let her hold the stone! She hesitated for a moment then took the stone with a smile. Sure, I'll hold it. she said, and she meant it.

She would hold it, and not return it! At least, that was the intention. She did, however, plan to stick around for a while longer. Perhaps until they went to sleep or more so. Certainly she needed the best possible way to get out with all the valuables.

She figured to either leave after the went to sleep, or perhaps recommend hiding any valuables. This way she could move them and claim them stolen. After all, who would suspect the one that reports the missing items? That was the plan..

Actually, we should hide it. That way if someone decides to mess with us we don't lose it! she exclaimed to the small pup. She gave a fake, yet valid reason. She didn't think she would lose it, but hey. It gave her an excuse to put it somewhere to go back for it later!

She looked at the pup as it climbed out of the crater and then followed behind it, carrying the stone. So, do you have any good hiding spots for things? She asked this for two reasons. One, she had not clue where to hide it. Two, knowing the hiding spot of Scout could provide even more valuables!

Scout smiled, wagging her tail and beginning to clamber up the side of the crater, pulling herself up once at the top. She then turned and barked energetically down at Lacy. "Ok! And sure!" She exclaimed as the Emolga climbed up after her. She glanced around, thinking deeply. "I don't personally have a hiding place, for I don't have anything right now, but maybe we can find a tree or something to hide it in!" She said.

The small Zigzagoon figured she'd trust the Emolga. After all, she'd given her no reason not to! She seemed pretty nice, and might make a good companion, if only for the time being. She seemed pretty smart as well. Why not have someone around to help? This was going to be a fun adventure!

Then, looking around with squinted eyes at the dark trees, Scout hopped over to a rather low-lying tree and looked around for a hole in said tree, or a place to hide something, and if there was anything, or anyone, there.

Spoiler: click to toggle

While searching, Scout thought back to the Ekans who had been hiding in the bush earlier, sleeping over her. After she searched the tree and found somewhere to hide the Moonstone, Scout figured she'd go search the bush for the Ekans or any other helpful pokemon that may have been awake when the crater was made, or knew something about local flying monsters. She'd have to wait and ask Lacy first, however.

((D= I'm so sorry I kept you waiting Liz!))

Lacy felt a small smirk grace her lips as the Zigzagoon agreed to hide the items. This pup was so easy to fool! To bad the Pokemon didn't have anything else worth taking. The Emolga glided over to the Zigzagoon pup and smiled.

Find something? Lacy asked as she looked at the pup. She was truly interested. If it was anything like the moonstone she would be happy to hide that as well! She then looked through the bushes and saw nothing more than a sleeping pineco.

Ag, let's go somewhere else. Lacy said this because she didn't want to wake pineco up. She was worried it may have been the one she had charmed earlier. Waking it up wasn't an option. She didn't want to be thought of as a thief by the pup! It would make getting off with the moonstone much harder!

With a quick look around Lacy then smirked looking at the pup. Hey what do you say I go hide the stone and you look for more clues? It would speed things up don't you think? She really was only interested in making off with the stone, but she might come back. After all, there was definitely more to be found!

(I'm so sorry Vap D: -snuggles- please forgive me for taking so long! Also, there's no need to leave ^^ unless you want to. I'm going to give the opportunity for Lacy to run off with the stone, which she can do, given she doesn't let Scout realize it.)

Scout's fur bristled and her eyes widened upon seeing the big, scary, sleeping Pineco. She turned tail and ran back to Lacy, holding the Moonstone in her hands. "There's a creepy pokemon sleeping over there! It looks grumpy! Let's find someplace else to hide this." She said, taking short, fast breaths and nodding to the Moonstone. After hearing what Lacy said, she smiled sadly and nodded. "I'd say the bush I was sleeping under is a better place than any, but if you want we can go together, or you can take the Moonstone." She quipped, pointing a paw to her earlier bush. "Maybe there's another pokemon that may know something over there. That, or we can just rest for now, and keep the stone with us. Maybe the big scary pokemon will come in the morning, and we'll figure out the mystery when we beat it, or gain its respect!" She piped, tail wagging eagerly now. Oh, what wonderful things they might discover!

She turned to stare with wide, excited eyes at Lacy, then she yawned, her small, zigged mouth opening to reveal a small pink tongue. She blinked sleepily and picked up the stone, handing it to Lacy. "You seem to like it better than me." She said, smiling at the Emolga. "After this is over, you can keep it. Are you getting sleepy?"

After handing the Moonstone to Lacy, Scout rushed over to her earlier bush and searched it for any pokemon or clues.. Hopefully the Ekans from before was there, or some other wise pokemon. Hopefully, however, that pokemon wouldn't be too hostile that she'd woken it up. She had yet to practice battling, and she was getting rather sleepy, for she was only a pup.

When the pup told Lacy she could have the moonstone the Emolga felt a bit of energy run through her. Now she didn't even have to steal it! This also gave her a bit of a liking to the gullible zigzagoon. Really? Thanks! she responded delighted. She decided she would stay now that she had no real reason to pull out yet. With a smile she watched the pup. It was rather energetic for so late at night.

When Lacy noticed the root she was subtly put off. For but a moment she thought it was a snake or something, though she realized when it made no movement it wasn't. So she moved forward to where the Zigzagoon was at and examined the root. Looks interesting.. You should keep it. she said to scout. Truth be told she wasn't being nice, she just had no interest in a root.

The pokemon then looked around as the younger pokemon asked about her getting sleepy. Indeed she was, and so she nodded as she climbed up a tree that the bush was beneath. Let's get some rest. she said as she rested on one of the branches. The Emolga was rather tired, and happy. Perhaps she didn't find any trainers to annoy, but she did find a nice little pup and moon stone. The pokemon also looked at the stone as she leaned upon the tree.

It was a pretty cool stone, and seemed it had good value to it. As she began to fall asleep she found herself hugging the stone in a rather protective way. Nothing would take her new found treasure away from her, and as soon as she could she would take it to her own hiding spot.

Scout's eyes lit up when she found the root. She grabbed it up, after tugging a bit, and kept it. She grinned widely. "That was an Energy Root! My momma fed one to my siblings when they were sick. It didn't taste good, but it sure did come in handy!" She said, a hint of sadness lighting her eyes as she thought of home. After putting away the root, Scout went over to the bush and curled up, exhaustion slamming into her like a wall. She yawned, blinking up at Lacy. "You're welcome. And I think rest is a..." She paused to yawn again, her jaw opening wide. "a great idea."

Right as she said it, with one more smile to Lacy, Scout fell into a peaceful, much needed, sleep.

((Just to give an idea of what to do next. You have three encounters, but in that entire night, not one has been completed. So, here be a first encounter to attend.))

It's late in the morning, with the sun nearing its peak, and there seems to be panic nearby the pair. Bird Pokemon are chirping, but no sweet, inviting song. Rather, they sing of warnings, for trouble has come, and everyone is listening. But what is the trouble? There are Pokemon nearby, the Pineco that had been sleeping, the Ekans that fell upon Scout, and that Sandshrew from before. Perhaps talking to one of them will provide clues?
