Warning and Banning [doHTML]

A. Forum Etiquette
[/doHTML] A1. No spamming Each forum and subforum has a purpose; don’t just post randomly all over the place unless you’re 1) a spambot (congratulations, you’ve somehow managed to hack one of the Admin accounts and get yourself approved, you unintelligent bit of malicious coding!), 2) inebriated/intoxicated (we’ll deal with you when you’re sober… or just laugh at your incoherent ramblings), or 3) illiterate. If you don’t know where to post something, save it in a text document so you don’t lose it and ask someone! A2. Out-of-character (OOC) problems We’re all like a family, we don't always agree on everything. If you have a personal issue or problem with another player, please deal with it off of the forum; we’re not naïve enough to think that everyone gets along all of the time, but we don’t want the drama slathered all over the front page. Additionally, keep OOC issues where they belong – OOC. This is a forum for role-playing (RPing); when you’re in-character (IC), your personality, your thoughts, your values, your life is separate from your character’s. That means that you should not automatically transfer your OOC issues with a particular player to your characters so they can take out your frustrations on the other player’s characters. You also should not hold a character’s actions or personality against their players; as stated above, a character’s personality, thoughts, values, etc. may very well not reflect the player’s own. If you cannot get along with other players and don’t want to resolve your issues with them, avoid them altogether. A3. Religion and politics As these subjects are hotly contested and have been the motive behind the vast majority of wars, we ask that you restrain yourself in these matters. If you get pissed off because of a religious or political joke posted somewhere, get the over it – it’s a joke. If you wish to debate religion and politics, take it to their respective off-topic forums – do not retaliate unless it is in those forums! A4. Consent No player is allowed to demand or order that another player do something they don’t want to do (not even the Mods or Admins). Nobody is going to force you to play with someone you don’t want to play with or RP a situation you don’t want to RP. A5. Bob and Twizzler’s Lair Out-of-character playful arguments and fights may result in punishment at the hands of Bob, the blow-up alien doll, or Twizzler, the hairy, rabid dwarf with a +4 licorice whip. If your name pops up in this forum, relax – chances are we’re just bringing attention to a small goof-up. [doHTML]

B. Role-playing
[/doHTML] B1. Writing and post format RPing is done in prose form and written in the past tense – this means that you should write like you’re writing a story, with proper punctuation and grammar, and use “He stared out into the darkness” rather than “He stares out into the darkness.” Use quotation marks, commas, periods, etc, rather than hyphens and asterisks to separate your words from your actions. Note that telepathy or any other form of purely mental communication is denoted by italics and dialogue spoken in a foreign language is denoted by hyphens at the beginning and end of a line of dialogue, inside the quotation marks. B2. Time 1 month OOC = 3 months IC. Time can and will be ‘fudged’ in the event of massive battles and pregnancies – no one wants their poor character pregnant for 3 OOC months. There are some exceptions to this, such as when it makes more sense for a particular IC event to take place over the course of an hour but the players aren’t available and thus take a month or so OOC to actually finish the scene. B3. Character accounts Each player must have their own OOC account; each major personal character must have an account separate from their player’s. Minor personal characters (e.g. ones who serve a small, specific purpose for a few lines, ones that are created for the purpose of killing them off fairly quickly, etc.) do not need their own accounts; you may use the generic NPC account for their posts. If your character has a first and last name, please include both just in case someone else has a character with the same first or last name. Additionally, please include the line “Played by [name of player]” in their signature (anyone who decides to be a smartass and use that exact phrase is getting their signature changed to “Played by the king/queen of n00bs! BOW DOWN TO ME!” before Amy smacks them). B4. Auto-connecting, auto-killing, and power-playing You must have a player’s explicit permission in order to auto-connect (AC, i.e. have an offensive action affect the opponent as intended) or auto-kill (AK, i.e. have an offensive action kill the opponent as intended) in an RP. Additionally, power-playing (PPing, i.e. imposing traits on another player’s character that they do not have and without that player’s permission in order to make your own character appear superior in some manner) is expressly forbidden and a quick way to get yourself banned. This does not mean that your character can’t demean another character behind their back or to their face; it means that you can’t RP someone else’s character without their express permission. B5. OOC absence v. IC absence If a character’s player is offline due to unavoidable circumstances (e.g. work, school, illness, moving, vacation, computer issues, ISP issues, etc.), you may not show their absence IC unless they give you explicit permission to do so. The only exception would be if their character plays a major role (in which case a placeholder character will be created until the player is able to return) or if the player has been absent for more than a year without contacting anyone and doesn’t have a reasonable explanation for their absence when they return (since it’s generally easier to undo things or work out a plausible reason for an IC absence than it is to just freeze the game). B6. Profanity, drugs, and sex We’re all adults here – there are no rules against profanity, drug use, or sex in the RP. Please note, however, that InvisionFree has a policy against excessive profanity, so restrain yourselves and don’t say anything that your grandparents and/or significant other might disown you for. Additionally, while it’s perfectly fine for characters to have whatever sexual orientation, attitude, or fetish they want, explicit descriptions and sex scenes themselves aren’t allowed; this isn’t an erotica or pornography site, after all. A line stating that the characters have gone off to ‘play’ is sufficient. B7. Cross-posting Characters must be created within a certain RP universe – they may not be used in other RPs without a very good reason. You’re allowed to create as many characters as you wish; please take advantage of this. Additionally, only use your OOC account to post in the OOC forums and IC accounts to post in IC forums so as not to confuse anyone. B8. Large plots Due to players living in different time zones and following varied schedules, not everyone can check the forum at the same time as everyone else, let alone post. If you want to start a major plot that affects a large number of players, please post an announcement to this effect in the relevant RP Ideas forum. This way not only will you get input (either via the forum, chat, or IM) that could make your idea better, but nobody gets left behind or has to put aside what they’re doing with other characters and you don’t end up sitting around and sulking because nobody seems to be joining in. Additionally, if you plan to start a large plot, please make sure that you will be online at least once a day so you can keep it going and finish it within a reasonable amount of time. [doHTML]

C. Characters
[/doHTML] C1. No God-modding You are not allowed to create a character who is infinitely powerful, infinitely knowledgeable, an unrealistically fast learner, has no weakness, is capable of outmaneuvering any attack of any nature, can retaliate instantly and with 100% success, etc. – basically, you can’t make your character invincible. This inevitably leads to ACing, AKing, and PPing without permission, as well as pissing off everyone else involved; please set a limit on your character’s abilities and power level. This rule obviously does not apply to characters who actually are Gods; do note, however, that Gods are restricted in how active they can be as personal characters (e.g. how much information they can give to mortals, how often and in what context they use their powers, their range of influence, etc.). You must have Amy’s express permission before you can create a God. C2. No Mary Sues You are not allowed to create a Mary Sue without consulting one of the Admins first. In general, Mary Sues are characters (not necessarily female, whatever the term itself implies) who are extremely loved… by their creator and very rarely anyone else. They tend to sap the color and realism out of any situation they walk into and un-inspire characters, bending the rules of the world around them for their own, generally self-serving purposes. Additionally, Mary Sues are usually guilty of one or more of the following:
C3. Character and RP universe histories You are not allowed to write your own version of a character’s history if that character belongs to another player unless you have that player’s explicit permission and oversight. You are also not allowed to rewrite an RP universe’s history or major events that affected other characters from your point of view or how you think they should have happened; most of the time, these have already been written and their effects on everyone involved thought out beforehand, with the input of other players. You must consult the creator of that RP and allow them to have oversight of your work if you wish to do so. C4. Player-created races and species You are allowed to create as many races and species as you want, so long as they don’t violate any of the rules outlined above (yes, it is possible to have a race of Mary Sues or a species of God-mods). Please note that there is a limit to our credulity, however; a species that has an abnormally high body mass to body volume ratio without good reason will get you laughed at in the manner of a mock-French knight atop a parapet. If you wish to create a character that is a member of a race or species that was created by another player, please ask that player for permission first. C5. Pregnancies Unless your character is sterile, sleeps with someone whose reproductive system is completely incompatible with their own, sleeps with or is someone who can control their own reproductive cycles, and/or uses contraceptives (in situations where they’re available), there is next to no way they can be sexually active and not end up pregnant/get their partner pregnant at some point in their life (and even with those caveats, you never really know what chance or player sadism will allow). As a general rule – unless your character or their partner is already pregnant – you must do the following:
C6. Stalled storylines In the event that your character gets stuck in a storyline that has not progressed for over one week, you are allowed to place that character in one thread in another storyline that is not set in the same time frame so that you may still play said character. This gets around the issue of players not being able to get online and move a storyline forward. [doHTML]

D. Warning and Banning
[/doHTML] If you proceed to violate any of these rules, you will be warned; if you don’t get the hint, you will be banned. Don’t think we won’t go through the player list and find every ISP, email and player name you have to make sure you are completely banned… because we will. Amy reserves the right to change and or add any of these rules when the need applies, so NO COMPLAINING! Any questions? Email, IM, or PM Amy, since she rules. XD (And, well… this is her forum.) |

~*Seven Deadly Sins ~ Flogging Molly*~ So the years rolled by and several died and left us somewhat reelin’. Johnny strummed his tommy gun, left blastin’ through the ceiling. So what became of the rebels, who sang for you and me? Grapplin’ with their demons in the search of liberty. Suffers who suffer all can swim upon the desert, where Avarice have ravaged all, in spite of good intentions. Don’t fill your mouth with Gluttony, for Pride will surely swell, but nothing’s unforgiven in the four corners of Hell. Envy and its evil twin, it crept in bed with slander. Idiots, they gave advice, but Sloth it gave no answer. Anger kills the human soul with bitter tales of Lust, while Pavlov’s Dogs keep chewin’ on the legs they never trust. But it’s the only life we know, blagards to the bone. So don’t wreck yourself, take an honest grip, for there’s more tales beyond the shore. Sail away where no ball and chain can keep us from the roarin’ waves, together undivided but forever we’ll be free. So sail away aboard our rig, the moon is full and so are we, we’re Seven Drunken Pirates, we’re the Seven Deadly Sins. ~*~*~ ~*Pink Punk Pirate*~ Proud Satanist, an Artist A Writer, a Nutcase Your Head Nurse This is Captain Pinkeh, he’s my First Mate
