Peasants - 120d Peasants are reluctant warriors, at best. Going to war is just one more burden of a hard life. Attack: 3 Defence: 3 Charge: 1 Town Militia - 150d Town militia are trained bands of citizens dragged from their homes and shops, given a spear each and some rudimentary training. Attack: 3 Defence: 7 Charge: 1 Iberian Infantry - 240d These infantry are the steady backbone of the armies of Carthage and Spain. Reliable, well armed and tough, they are armed with falcatas to cut a path into an enemy line. Attack: 7 Defence: 8 Charge: 2 Libyan Spearmen - 400d Libyan spearmen are best when defending against cavalry, but can hold a battle line when required. Attack: 5 Defence: 16 Charge: 2 Poeni Infantry - 540d These heavy Poeni infantry are drawn from the self-relient Carthagian citizenry, and make superior all round soldiers. They may also form a phalanx with their spears. Attack: 9 Defence: 18 Charge: 4 Sacred Band - 710d The Sacred Band is the elite infantry of any Carthagian army and can be relied upon to do their duty to the end. Attack: 12 Defence: 23 Charge: 4 Slingers - 150d Slingers are highly skilled missile troops, but are at a huge disadvantage in hand to hand combat, especially against cavalry. Attack: 3 Defence: 4 Charge: 1 Skirmishers - 180d Skirmishers rush forward to pepper an enemy with javelins, and then withdraw in good order before a counter attack can be organised. Attack: 3 Defence: 4 Charge: 1 Round Shield Cavalry - 330d Round shield cavalry are best used to ride down skirmishers and pursue fleeing enemies. Attack: 7 Defence: 10 Charge: 4 Long Shield Cavalry - 510d Long shield cavalry are spear armed light cavalry, who can be used to break enemy formations, drive off skirmishers and pursue fleeing foes. Attack: 8 Defence: 13 Charge: 6 Sacred Band Cavalry - 780d The Sacred Band fight as heavy cavalry, armed with spears and swords and well armoured to boot. They are an elite in Carthagian warfare and society. Attack: 11 Defence: 18 Charge: 6 General's Bodyguard - 790d This general has a bodyguard of spear armed cavalry to accompany him onto the field. Attack: 11 Defence: 14 Charge: 6 General's Armoured Bodyguard - 1040d This general has a bodyguard of loyal spear armed cavalry to accompany him onto the field. Attack: 11 Defence: 18 Charge: 6 Onagers - 720d The onager is a versatile catapult that can launch boulders or incendiary firepots at enemy troops and fortifications. Attack: 53 Defence: 5 Elephants - 1300d Elephants are a terrifying spectacle to opposing troops, well able to toss men aside like ratting dogs and smash battle lines. Attack: 5 Defence: 12 Charge: 8 War Elephants - 2520d War elephants are fierce and terrible beasts, able to trample men and horses into the dirt. Attack: 6 Defence: 16 Charge: 8 Armoured Elephants - 2780d Armoured elephants are the most fearsome creatures to be found on a battlefield. Little can stand before these armoured giants. Attack: 6 Defence: 19 Charge: 8 |
