I'm going to be honest--

I read it all that you have so far,

I made a CV VB and I.. did it all mechanically? I mean, I recorded all the Hiragana sounds (according to here) and configured the oto for every sound separately.

So I basically understand how oto's work, how to record a CV bank and the general idea. I know a VCV is "vowel consonant vowel" (something you might want to add? A lot of people don't even know what they mean!) so the general idea is

instead of recording "ka" I would record "a-ka" "i-ka" "u-ka" "o-ka" and "e-ka"? (It's also easier if you use English to explain... I can't actually read Japanese!)

Also, you mentioned Lite banks and Standalone banks, but you never explained the difference of them. Please do! I don't automatically know everything about UTAU because me and my friend decided one day to mess around with it! :) What is a "LITE" bank and what does it mean? Also be sure to give plenty of example of each, I also never downloaded any other VB's, so all I have is the ones I made and the default one. But otherwise I am very excited about learning how to do this and await your next posts!
I will push my ships on you, always.

Ah VCV... We meet again.. I'm confused with it a bit I know this is probably not the topic to post in and I should make a separate one but here goes..

So say we have a CV Ust (Which I'm assuming is the ka ki ko blah blah) Will A VCV bank work easily or do we have to go through each note and choose the proper note. Let's pretend the ust calls for kanashi (idk if that's an actual word forgive me) would you have to have in the ust:
[ka][a n][a][shi] (I'm looking at a 8 syllable list I think that has the translations next to it)?

At any rate I'm looking forward to the recording section to this tutorial since that seems to be my main concern that no one touches on.. Also I've seen a tutorial or so where while otoing they somehow manage to preview the sound before setting the configuration.. I can't seem to do that in my Utau program or I haven't figured it out yet

The syllables would be [- ka][a n][n a][a shi]. You take the vowel from the previous note and put it in front of the next.

As for the note previews, you double click the file name.

Pha, that's simple. There's a CV to VCV converter, so as long as the UST is in Hiragana, you can convert the whole UST to VCV naming. (If the UST is in romaji, there's a romaji to hiragana converter, too)

I should update this thread sometime soon. Maybe I can get the Recording tutorial done, it's pretty simple though.

You just have to say the sounds as you would normally; no extra emphasis on anything, and is a row with no real gap between them.

Although, some things sound better with emphasized gaps in them... For me, my hard consonants slur a little is I don't stress them.

I have a slight problem and I was wondering if you could help (I tried digging around a couple tutorials). I tried naming my files out of audacity with hiragana, but it wouldn't let me. So I tried hard renaming in windows explorer and my Japanese input bar. That worked. However if I try to open up the voicebank using these files I get "Bad File Name/Number" even after resetting default voice away from Defoko. Any suggestions?

I have no clue, sorry D: You may want to just name the files in romaji OTL It'll take longer to oto, but it's more likely to work. You'll just have to do the aliasing by hand (in hiragana).
EDIT: VIDEO TUT UPLOADED.

Haha, it's alright...I tried aliasing by hand and it still didn't recognize them. I'm not so worried about it though. I'll try clearing out the aliases later and running it through the alias converter. Thanks for your response by the way.
