| Welcome to the UTAforum! UTAU is a Japanese voice-synthesis program used to create singing vocals for music. It is much like the more popular, commercially sold Vocaloid products, but UTAU is freeware! To learn more about UTAU and various UTAU voices/characters, you can click here. I've tried to load Usts and all of the other files that I've worked with before. It either doesn't show up on the list or, when I load it, it says "Bad File Name or Number". ^o) I just got utau about a week ago, but this is basically the only problem I have. Thanks! |

Oooh~ I suggest getting Japanese locale on your PC. Won't fix the USTs, or any hiragana encoded voice-banks you have. But it'll fix it for any future downloads. |

They aren't in hiragana, they're in romaji, like the voices are. |

If you don't want to change the locale to Japanese (it's not hard as there are a lot of tutorials in youtube and you can undo the change anytime) and re-downloading anything again the problem could be the default voicebank being a bugged Uta Utane. After you are sure you have at least one valid full coded romaji voicebank in the "voice" folder of your UTAU program use the directions given here: http://utaforum.co.cc/topic/8152234/1/?x=90 Also when you open the UST, be sure to change the voicebank used in the window that automatically displays to one of those correct voicebanks. Also even if the voicebank can seem to be romaji coded, some special signs (like ↑) can still bug UTAU. Another measure is to rename your unzipped ust always through the Window interface (something like aaa.ust is absolutely good enough). |
