I have been wanting to re-record my utaus for a few months now, but I REALLY have no idea what mic or headset to get to give them the smoother sounds and whatnot. My old headset was decent but it broke a year ago and I got a new headset..... but it gives me the scratchiest and most robotic sounds I have ever heard... I don't want to continue to waste money on picking and choosing so I need to know... What mic or headset has good quality for a decent price?... and which is better... the mic or the headset? Thank kyu |

I'm actually looking into buying a new microphone myself. If you check out the voice acting alliance forums, there are some pretty decent reviews on microphones. I think a lot of the users there use Blue Snowball Microphones for voice acting. ( The price tag isn't bad, too~ ) I also saw good things about the Samson C01U USB Studio Condenser Microphone and the Shure SM57 USB microphone. But they're a little more expensive than Snowball--but if it's just for UTAU, I'm leaning towards Snowball. |

Headsets are conveniently hands-free, but in terms of sound quality, go for a normal mic+stand or handheld mic. I'd suggest taking a look at the Snowball or Snowflake, they're pretty nice mics. Both from Blue microphones c: Overall they seem reliable and they have good quality sound. They also have the Yeti which is crazy pro... but also around $150 xD; Pricing lowest to highest: Snowflake -> Snowball -> Yeti Edited by mystsaphyr, Feb 20 2011, 03:21 AM.
