VCV Oto...and Romaji; Should I translate the VB into romaji before Oto'ing?

Man, I am really sorry about all the topics. I am really new to UTAU, so I don't understand any of it, and when I try things on my own I usually cause the problem, not fix it. I wonder which is worse, double-posting or new topics...

Anyways, I recorded samples for a VCV voicebank. Now, I don't have a clue how to oto, so I was watching another tutorial, and it occured to me, do the actual samples have to be in romaji before you oto, or is it ok to translate them after?

Also, I read somewhere that if you use a reclist, you can use that oto as well if you tweak it. Is that worth looking into? Or setParam, for that matter?

There a nice little lesson here if you haven't seen it: http://utaforum.co.cc/topic/8181272/1/

Um, you can do the aliases when ever you want.

But I've never seen VCV that had romanji aliases? Usually it's a letter then the hiragana. (You could look at other VB's for example.)

O: Hope that was helpful~

It generally was. I have looked over that VCV tutorial before, and it was very helpful with understanding what VCV is and how to record it.

However, what I'm asking is, does setParam work with romaji?
Also, do I have to change my locale to use a VCV? I mean, hiragana samples don't work in non-Japanese locales, so should I put them in romaji?

You can use VCVs on a romanji computer. Just get an empty oto with the aliases, and add romanji aliases besides the hiragana.

Ok...so how to get an empty oto...do you mean ripping an oto from another UTAU and tweaking it, or what?

I don't mean that thing. I found a pre-aliased oto on the old forum.

Ok, so I've poked around the old forums a bit. Do you mean the NAL oto.ini?

I don't see any others...
Maybe I just need to look around some more.
