Welcome to the UTAforum!

UTAU is a Japanese voice-synthesis program used to create singing vocals for music. It is much like the more popular, commercially sold Vocaloid products, but UTAU is freeware!

I noticed that a lot of people call a voicebank either UTAU and UTAUloid.
How do you prefer to call a voicebank? Why?

I personally prefer to refer to the program as UTAU and a voicebank UTAUloid to avoid confusion.

I mostly refer to it and voice banks as UTAU, but perhaps around a Vocaloid crowd or when specifically talking about the character representing the bank I'll say UTAUloid.

My question is what on earth is the plural form of UTAU. UTAU, UTAUs, UTAUloids...meh.

For me it would be UTAUloid, but as I'm too lazy to type the whole word, I just say UTAU

And for me the plural is UTAUs ._.

I generally use:

UTAU - for reference to the program or a general reference to a voicebank
UTAUloid - for specific reference to a certain voicebank

I just call a voicebank a voicebank. Utau is the program and Utauloid is just the designation of a character the voicebank is used for.

UTAUloid when referencing a voice bank... or, occasionally, UTAU vocal library. Usually only in environments where I need to be more formal, I'm speaking in JP or explaining what UTAU is.

UTAU is the program. Always XD

Hmm...I often use UTAU to refer to a voicebank if the program itself isn't being mentioned. However if both are being mentioned in conversation then I try and refer to the program as UTAU and the voicebank as an UTAUloid.

More often than not though I use them interchangeably though.
