Ever wonder "What can I do to improve my UTAU?" Well, you can ask me and I can be honest about it and then I can show you some stuff to help you out and then you can overachieve :'D But it's not just voicebanks O: I can explain things about pitchbending, enveloping, OTOing, mixing, original-songing, Japanese, and other fun stuff. So, in comical fashion, I am pretending that I am displaying a sign which reads "The Doctor is In" |

Well, tbh I have no desire to learn Japanese. If the English basis of this community was larger and more accessible (more english banks/usts/reclists) it would make things much more easier. I am trying to promote english users doing more english songs, but.... it's hard. CV English is pretty terrible, and CV VC is still like, in the early beta stages. =w=; But all of my UTAU are Jap speaking.. for now... Edit: I don't want to sign up for an account I will only use once. :( I'll try google docs EditEdit: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B5VlXs2XIsb2ZDBhMGVjNGUtZWYxOC00ZDI0LTk5OGItM2EzZWMwZjc4YmRj&hl=en_US <-- Aleksandr Yekchekov ver 2.0 using bkh01 (still buggy, though. I know this already.) https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B5VlXs2XIsb2ZTI0NTA0ODktMjEyZi00ZjQzLWExYTMtOGI1MzU4MGQzNGFk&hl=en_US <---- Aleks 2.0 using Fresamp (I think, it might actually be resampler.. I don't remember) https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B5VlXs2XIsb2NmQ1OTc3ODktZjBjMi00NTcwLThmMzktYjBjZDI5ZGZkMzUz&hl=en_US <----- Zhenya Yekchekov ver 1.1 and Kosmos Chernikova BETA using TIPS For Aleks, I want feedback. REAL feedback. HONEST feedback. I can take it. What can I do better, how can I record better next time, what sounds need improvement? How is the oto, are any sounds too long/short, what needs changing? And mixing, how does the background fuzz sound? Is there any at all? Are my USTs on timed, with realistic sounding vibratos and pitches? (I NEVER use a straight ust.. I always edit them.) For Zhenya and Kosmos' song, I just want to know the mixing. I made my own talkloid in it, edited the ust to the right tempo and changed it to sound "autotune"-y. How well does it sound? Do they go together? Is my intro ok? What about the outro? Is the pitching too much? Thanks~ Edited by Aleksandr, Oct 4 2011, 04:44 PM.

4Shared is awesome. The only reason I use mediafire is because I can just drag stuff on there and it's unlimited. You can up files right onto your posts here, can't you o_O ? Either way. English in UTAU is dumb 8D But you actually have that backwards. I would link you to one of Matt9Five's fandubs and then an Aido English video and ask you to tell me which was the human (seriously, he autotuned his fandubs that bad/his English CV was that good.) but Matt9Five quit youtube and deleted that stuff. Here's the thing: using a death list to record thousands of CV samples will give you an UTAU that will sound more fluent and more human than CV VC. The only real posted example I can think of is NYAL, but dear lord that Engrish. But, here's the thing. someone needs to make a good list for CV English. That's what I'm planning on doing. But want to know why no one will use it? Well, I hate the "Big Al" accent a lot of English UTAUs have. How will I fix that? By having around 20 vowels. The number of samples will be really, really goofy. But it won't have that stupid accent forced on it. And I'm procrastinating because I'm not looking forward to writing that list. |

o.o Can you upload stuff to posts? I don't see it anywhere.. D: but uh, you're telling me [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgJnhDAVp0E&list=PLB0408C6B2AABBC45&index=66[/utube] and [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYpNmptgvmM&list=PLB0408C6B2AABBC45&index=64[/utube] Are bad English? Both are CV VC and I think they are even better than some Vocaloid English (well... Sonika, maybe. And Luka >_> Not that I don't love her but.. eeh...) |

i would like some help on better understanding envelopes i know that envelopes adjust the way sound is played?( not entirely sure how it works though ) ( ~like ka the consonant can be made to be sharper by adjusting the envelopes for it) but by messing around i was able to pick up basics on how they work ~ but im still confused as to how they actually work or what the lines really do >~< |

Sorry, internet died XD; @Aleks Cz puts her soul into her projects. But still, it doesn't sound human by a long shot. Aiko just doesn't even sound remotely human there, and I have a hard time understanding her. Some people don't care about things sounding human, but I refuse to use a VCV bank if I can't edit it into sounding smooth and human. I mean, I don't need something that sounds like a real person sang it- Just something that sounds /like/ a real person could have easily sang it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrWuM9X1AWM That's an example of what I mean. You can hear the synthing going on in her voice, and you can tell it's not human, but at the same point, you could easily hear a human using that intonation and lacking slurs like that. I spend hours editing envelopes just for it to sound human, so CV VC just... no. I'm downloading one of the files you posted up. Sorry, but I refuse to accept WAV files unless I'm just about to shove them into UTAU. My internet limit is under a gigabyte, so I need to always be very conscious about what I download. I'll tell you what's up with the one I'm getting (love is war club mix) once it's downloaded. (it will take a while) @Kirrin Envelopes adjust volumes. If you have a steep envelope, the sound will quickly get softer. If you have a gently sloping envelope, the sound will slowly get softer. If you have a big hump on top of the consonant, the consonant will be loud. Anyway, the thing that really made envelopes click for me was actually in this article: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=12609.0 It just has envelopes in there as a side note, but they explained it so that it clicked. Did that help any? |

Ah, I'd maybe like an honest opinion on Kaisho's VCVs. I mean, it makes me overjoyed to hear that most people really like her despite her really akward voice (I will always regret how, even at a lower pitch, my voice still can't sound mature), but I dunno...some constructive criticism would be nice? Spoiler: click to toggle I'm horribly lazy with finishing covers since I like to go overboard with envelope and pitchbend edits (Except on this, which I just left the UST as is since I wanted to get her out), so this is pretty much the only video example I have. Oh! And: Spoiler: click to toggle On the Rin part. Shows her a bit lower and with more personalized pitchbends. Now, I know there's a LOT I need to fix. Some of her "u" sounds are so atrociously wrong and quiet and yuck and ooooo and english choir ugh and then some other have that uewww dipthong and... ; A ; I've had a hard time training myself out of it. And some "o" sounds got a little bit of the usual english dipthong - I tried to edit those out with otos best I could. My "r"s are very D-ish in my opinion, some of my "t"s are a little too English...yeah, it's beta, that's my only excuse. I just wanted to release her after a summer of slowly recording. XD And if you dare venture into her voicebank and listen to the english R and Ls.... *shudders* They MAJORLY ALL need to be redone. Also I discovered I need to use a higher Consonant Velocity on stuff. And my "h"s sound overly breathy and long because, well, honesly I had a million pounds of trouble with it. That's seriously the best I could do. But still, aside from those things, anything really jump at you, particularly pronunciation-wise? There other vowels I'm too choral on? I butcher some other consonants? HIT ME. Not too hard though. ; v ; Edited by Shinami, Oct 4 2011, 06:21 PM.
