Oh, and for the love of all things holy- ALWAYS BE CONSISTENT. It doesn't matter if half of your samples were recorded in a studio if half were recorded on your laptop's built in mic. If there's a difference in quality, tone, pitch, it will nearly ruin your bank x_o |

pitch doesn't ruin the bank so much. just when you change pitch in your samples. |

Pitch alone doesn't hurt much- But the things you use to change the pitch of your samples can, ie intonation, force- Also, if you magically can record half your samples and C2 and half at G5, half will sound pretty different from the other half and cause inconsistencies. |

@Mayo: Pretty much what miss Blythe said. I also suggest recording under a blanket, if you can, 'cause it'll cut out a lot of background noise. If the samples ate too loud, just turn them down in Audacity (Effect > Amplify > -0.04, just keep hitting ctrl+R after the first time to redo the effect until they're all the same volume), it'll also turn down background static and noise until it's all or nearly gone.

Actually, I wouldn't suggest doing anything to the samples. A bit of fluctuation in volume won't hurt, and if you're smart and record in OREMO, it would be a real bother to do that. It's better to just work to keep your voice consistent. |

to the audacity thing. record in oremo, and make the effects then. import all sound files. do the same thing to them at a time. then export all files at a time and choose "name by textmarks" keep the metadata the same and just hit ok until it has done all samples. wait a minute or two. done. |

Wooo then, bad news on these last few otos >< My laptop has this really bad overheating-lock-up problem. It's finally gotten cold enough that the heater's been switched on, and it's making my laptop lock up every few minutes, even with a set of external fans under it. I'm still trying to do the otos, but I can't say they'll be done soon .____. |
