@Scarfu Really? That's interesting... for some reason I was under the impression that most .ust makers worked directly in the program xD I guess it makes sense, though, that most people would have to use other resources before going to the UTAU platform. I don't feel like #1 and #2 really apply to me (but that's just my gimmick, I guess) but I agree with #3. When dealing with acoustic songs it's a little difficult sometimes to get the tempo since it's usually not a whole number, but luckily in our fandom most songs are synth-based so they're easier to get if you've got good rhythm ./and a tap-tempo metronome coughcough :D |

i'm really lazy but i like to do things myself, so i used mmv once or twice for making a ust. i mean, for me, i used a logitech usb microphone and removed all noise and compressed the vocals and it came out alright. i like using that way, btu i'm not going to use it often because more times than not, the notes come out wrong... i have reaper but i don't know how to make midis in there...i'm so bad with music programs. i seriously need help with reaper and midi making in there orz |

I really don't think anything is "cheating" unless you stole someone's UST or converted a VSQ into UST without crediting or permission. If it's all your hard work, how is that cheating? Personally, I think MIDIs are the way to go. I haven't used MMV before and I'm not entirely sure how it works, but from what I've read, I think it seems a lot more complicated and harder to do than making a MIDI and just importing that into UTAU. |

Making vsqs from scratch using a combination of FLStudio and Poca (I'm getting Vocaloid at some point so that may change. Until then it's the best option I've got for decent VSQ export) for the win IMO. I've always had a screwy experience importing the raw midi. Especially from online ones. the timing is usually very off and they aren't made for Utau or for the vocals to be used alongside an off-vocal. The quality varies drastically. I tried making "Grenade" from a midi, failed. Now I'm giving up doing that altogether now. Hell, I'm even making my own versions of tracks that already have good quality USTs because I love doing it!
