Welcome to the UTAforum!

UTAU is a Japanese voice-synthesis program used to create singing vocals for music. It is much like the more popular, commercially sold Vocaloid products, but UTAU is freeware!

Hey all, (sorry if this is in the wrong section) I am doing an UTAU tutorial for my anime club at school, and I was wondering what you guys think are the most important things that I should put inside of it. I'm already covering the basics like.

-recording
-locale
-where to download/ how to install
-where to put samples and how to get them into UTAU
-the importance of otoing
-ust
-a little history and comparison of UTAU and Vocaloid

anything else you guys can think of. :uhm:

You could show them how CV and VCV are different like use the same song to show them how they both sound different ~

and you could tell them about overseas UTAU users how there are people from various parts of the world that also have UTAUloids~

edit~ and show them examples of how UTAU allows for a greater diversity of voices~ unlike Vocaloid which is restricted to the ones that are released~

first thing: You have an ANIME CLUB AT SCHOOL? I wish I had this T.T Then I'd say the importance of the right pronunciation, no matter how good the quality of an utau is, if it has an strong accent my head hurts a little when I hear it. I know that many people say that accents aren't that bad, but in my opinion, the voice provider should at least TRY to get the pronunciation right. For this purpose you could use the links that annamaeblythe put in her learn hiragana thread. Umm...do you plan to explain the different voicebank types, too?

Don't forget CV-VC!

oh, maybe you could also talk about how to publish and advertise the songs and utaus. like putting them on yt, soundcloud, forums,dA...
And the art is important, too. That was already discussed on the UTAU discussion forum...

Don't forget importing VSQs/MIDIs; that's always important. ^_^

lol...
Many of those items are already answered on UTAU user Manual: http://utau.wikia.com/wiki/UTAU_User_Manual
And there are loads of tutorials out there, in this forum, and on YT.

@tady True...but I think the point is to introduce UTAU to people in person without handing them a website and telling them to go there. People may just understand it better if they hear it from an actual person rather then read it on a website or watching a video.

@omegaflash Everyone basically beat me...but you could try snagging some songs done by both Overseas and Japanese users as just examples of what you can do with UTAU.

Why is it that, then, when I often ask people for help they say "LOL GO WATCH A TUTORIAL NUMPNUTS."

-- That aside, I think the importance of character design and naming is also something to touch upon. I would LOVE to see more American/Romanticized names. I am getting sick of seeing Jap names everywhere. Even if it is a Jap bank. Also make sure to tell them not to do a Miku look-alike plzkthx.
I will push my ships on you, always.

^ Actually, (to branch from this), you can also tell them what's NOT recommended for an UTAU (design-wise, voice-wise, etc.); however, that'd require a few questions to older users and some browsing.

Hey all sorry for not replying (I posted it before I had to go to school :sick: )

@kirrin_kitsune

Got it, I'll tell them,

@Beri-chan

Response to first: YES I DO, and you should try to get one besides getting the members to pay attention for more than three minutes it's really fun.

Response to second: that is a must I get on them about it every time I hear them try to pronounce japanese (not that I'm like an expert, but I am a bit picky about it as well.) :sick:

@TrainerConchita

Got it I'm sure that they would've ask me once they found out about them. :sing:

@tady159

True, but it's kinda more to be something fun that the club could do, as well as giving them a chance to ask questions if they don't understand something fully.

@IrisFlower

Alright :smile:

@Aleksandr

I'm sorry that happens :'( I would be glad to help out I don't have much experience at a lot of things but I do know some stuff.

Character design and names, alright and I'm sure (hopefully) the design thing is not a problem I traumatized them a bit with Miku's american design so I'm sure they'll wanna try to out do it.

@TrainerConchita

Okay I'll make sure to tell them :smile:

Thank you everyone for the advice, since I'm making a powerpoint I might upload it.
