Welcome to the UTAforum!

UTAU is a Japanese voice-synthesis program used to create singing vocals for music. It is much like the more popular, commercially sold Vocaloid products, but UTAU is freeware!

I am your protector of cookies.
Because I was thinking of making a lot of appends then releasing them altogether. And since my UTAUloid is named after a fruit, I thought it would be nice calling them after different types of watermelons. But would people get confused, because they would normally see, SOFT or CUTE etc.

Is it a good idea to name your appends different to the usual? I'm a bit iffy on it, so I want to hear some opinions

Note: Didn't know where to put this ;_;

If I were the ever give Iris appends I'd obviously name them after flowers >w< But at the same time I'd also describe what kind of voice each append was when releaseing. Like...hmm...a Lily Append would probably give Iris a sweet voice while a Rose append would most likely be harsher.

Naming appends is up to you but if you're gunna go crazy with it, just describe what each append is.

As long as the name can tell you what it is, it's all good. I want to name mine with big words, candy or perhaps tea.

If you named an append as "honeydew append", I would think it's a sweet one, because of how the melon tastes. See?

lol...
Umm... well, I already have seen some quite different "append" names to say so. Like, Aizo has a Vanilla, and a Cola appends.

In my case, they wouldn't be caleld "appends" literally, I have something else planned instead. And I have planned six: Adult, strong, Lively, Cold, Weak and Breathy. this is going to be very tricky to me, since I have already voiced two different UTAUloids, one with a very sweet voice, and one with a very strong voice. but they sound very different from my main UTAUloid (the one that is going to get the six extensions). But some of those, like Strong, and Weak, would show similarities to the other ones, and I want to avoid this...

Anyways, talked too much about me. XD the names are up to you, but if they aren't very intuitive name, you should at least describe the type of voice used on them.

I was planning (not sure if I still would, but mayyyyybe) on a few appends for Waizu: Library (soft/mature), Bounce (childish/light, name would probably change), Rare (an obvious falsetto), and an append with an obvious Southern drawl (since I'm Texan and I can totally do that if I wanted to); however, I'm not sure if I'd even get around to them.

All I've got right now is DESU, an attempt at a highly weebish voice.
Your watermelons are probably a better idea.

I think that, with Appends, the sky is the limit. I suppose it's best to go with something that either describes the voice type (as done with the Vocaloid extensions) or relates to your UTAU (such as your watermelon idea). Heck, you don't even have to call them Appends if you want to call them something different! (For example, Ritsu's Strong Voice Material) As I say, it really is all down to you!

Different is good, just don't make it too weird
At first I was going to name my appends with the seasons [Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Rainy]

... The names are obvious, no?
And ah, I ish agree with Savy
Just name it related with the append, so people won't be confused :'D
