Environment

This is how “clean” your nation is. A cleaner environment will mean happier people, more money and more people. Try to keep it fairly clean, but don't go to extreme measures. For most nations, increasing the environment by +1 (a half star) means approximately +0.4 happiness and +40 citizens so its not worth major changes.

The government options: revolutionary, transitional, dictatorship, communism and totalitarian will harm your environment. If that government is what your people want, changing it to a monarchy would be the most economically efficient move.

Resources coal, oil and uranium bring your environment down, this does not apply if these are your default resources. If these resources are part of a trade set or bonus resource do not sacrifice them for a minor environment improvement.

Other minor factor that affect your environment, the nation's tech level, infrastructure to land ratio, military to population ratio, not having access to water, your responses to the drug and immigration government policy questions and the Global Radiation Level (GRL).

In general improving environment at the expense of other positive factors is not a good idea
