"What do you mean two people isn't enough? Come on!" The registrar shook his head. "Rules are rules. And if you want us to give you missions, you'll play by ours. Go find another person or two, shouldn't be hard around here." Judi sighed and turned to Danzai. "Well... That's that I suppose. Why on earth do we have to do this anyways..." Danzai grinned. "To get you some real life experience of course. It's one thing to cast a spell in a classroom, another to do it with a monster staring you in the face. Besides, it'll do you good to get away from your books once in a while" Judi scowled. "For the last time, they're tomes! They let me cast quicker, so I'd appreciate it if you'd shut up about it!" Danzai laughed, and started walking back into the guild's main entrance. Judi adjusted her glasses and followed suit. |

"Need a third man, huh?" Someone called to Judi and Danzai as they were leaving the guild. "Perhaps, I could be of help." "And who are you?" Judi asked the young man. He certainly didn't look strong enough for the guild, he had few visible muscles and no tomes or a stave or anything that hinted to him being a mage. The only thing that set him apart from an average person was the fact that he had two cases, one attached to his right arm and the other to his left ankle, which were commonly used to hold decks of trading cards. "I'm the best, and you'd do well to have me on your team." "You trying to join the guild to?" Danzai asked him, "But you need partners, am I right." The young man shook his head. "Nah, they offered to let me go alone but it's just to much work, you know?" "They would let you go alone but we couldn't go in a pair?" Judi asked annoyed again. "Bring me along and I'll be able to show you just why that is." Judi created a fireball in her palm and held it up to his face. The young man didn't flinch. Danzai pulled Judi's arm back down. "Sure, may as well. We need to pick someone out of this group of strangers and your as good a bet as any. I have a favor though, let a few monsters through, she needs the experience." "Can do, names Yuen." He said as he extended his arm. "I'm Danzai, she's Judi." Yuen shook Danzai's hand, ignored Judi and turned to go back and speak to the registrar again. |

Judi fumed silently. She was not used to this sort of treatment from anyone other than Danzai. Danzai on the other hand was quite pleased to find such a competent ally so quickly. He turned to Judi. "Alright, we'll go over the mission once Yuen gets back. Shouldn't be too difficult with the three of us I think." Judi rolled her eyes. "Just so long as he doesn't slow us down. Danzai sighed. Judi was extremely knowledgeable, but a little lacking in social grace and common sense... Which wasn't uncommon for a magus. |

Yuen returned shortly with three sheets of paper in his hands. "Here's our registration," He said as he handed them the pages. "Fill 'em out, and then they'll accept them but only if we bring them proof that we accomplished a quest posted on the test board over there." He pointed to a row of boards on the far wall. Each board had a letter over it from F to A. On the far left there was a board with the word Test over it. There were far fewer jobs posted on the test board when compared to the others. "Apparently there's also S rank missions but they're kept in a seperate place that you need the guildmaster's permission to enter." Judi had finished filling out her registration before Yuen was finished speaking, he stared at the piece of paper in her hand for a moment before he began filling out his own. "So what's our first mission going to be?" Danzai asked Yuen. "Don't know, never checked the board." He answered as he finished his registration. "Doesn't really matter." Judi said as she pointed at the test board. Danzai and Yuen looked back to the board to see a young man taking one of the two remaining quests on the board. "Well that simplifies things." The three walked to the board and Danzai grabbed the sheet. "So what's our first mission?" Yuen asked |

Danzai read over the sheet and groaned. "Killing goblins? Come on, they cover half the globe at this point. And it's not like this mission is to acomplish anything, they just want us to bring back five goblin fangs. Well... I guess I can't complain too much at this point. We're not even F rank yet." "So we just need to find golbins anywhere," Judi asked "Well we probably don't need to go far..." Yuen simply shruged. "Well, we can start by heading out of the town for starters." Danzai nodded, and the group marched towards the front gate. On the way, Danzai turned to Yuen. "So what makes you want to be an adventurer? I know Judi is doing is as a requirement from the Magic Acadamy, and I'm helping her out mostly." |

Yuen pushed the hair out of his eyes and sighed. "I need money to live, I broke the rules and got disowned by my family." "And just what rules were those?" "Ever heard of the Seireiten family." "You broke the guardian rules, didn't you?" "Hey, hey don't judge me like that, there's always a grey area." "And what was yours." Judi asked. "I thought those rules were stupid." "That's no grey area even if grey areas existed!" Danzai said suddenly becoming very passionate. "There is only black and white, you broke the rules that were clearly set out to you. You were therefore in the black and you received just punishment." "Your a jerk." "Can I interject?" Judi asked. "What exactly is the Seireiten family?" "What they didn't teach you that yet?" Danzai asked, surprised. "The Seireiten family uses cards to cast magic. They infuse the magic into the cards beforehand so they can cast without delay and without wasting there own energy. The Seireiten family can even cast very high level runic spells without issue. They can also create cards by putting physical items into the cards and summoning them at a later time." "That's not fair." "Yes it is. Danzai doesn't know the full story of our power. Infusing cards takes a long long time and requires a special machine, which I no longer have access to. I've only got my three guardians and the forty card deck I had prepared before they disowned me. I got a couple of those really high level cards to but I was sitting there gathering energy for over a month before they were completed so I won't be using them until I'm in the direst situation." "So what were the rules you broke, then?" Yuen scratched the back of his head. "Rule number one of creating guardians, no member of the Seireiten family is allowed more than two guardians. I have three, currently. Rule number two of creating guardians, The guardians that any member of the Seireiten family can create must be of the same gender as the master, as our family has proven in the past that falling in love with your own guardians is deadly. All of my guardians are female. Now for my question, Why the hell are you so interested in this stuff!?" Edited by Kyliea, Jul 26 2011, 09:32 PM.

"Well," started Judi, "I'd like to know more about other forms of magic. The Academy currently offers courses for 16 different types of magic... Though a few of those have no students. I only have the ability for Runic myself. Magic is a fascinating subject is it not?" Danzai put his arms behind his head and grinned. "What she neglects to mention is that she so happens to have a rival, who happens to have a much faster casting style than her own." Judi puffed out her cheeks. "That's ridiculous! And besides, Runic is the best form of magic! Though our spells take time to cast, they're powerful. And another thing, Runic can cast nearly any time of magic given enough mastery over the spell forms. Furthermore-" "I love to interupt," Danzai pointed at the gate they had reached, "but we've got to decide where to go next." Judi sulked for a few seconds before pulling a book out. She flipped through the pages, until she had reached a map. She studied it for a bit, and came to a decision. "Remember the news about the farms being attacked recently? Well if we're wasting our time on this, we might as well help someone while we're at it. It's a short walk too. I'm sure someone is already down there helping, but goblins aren't exactly scarce. We'll find some no problem." Yuen and Danzai nodded, and the group started their journey. Flipping to another page in the book Judi soon busied herself with reading, not slowing he pace one bit. Danzai checked the strap on his hammer, and turned to Yuen. "Hey, sorry about my little outburst there. I just hold the ideals of law very dearly. Sucks about the exile thing." Yuen shrugged. "Not the worst thing in the world." Danzai fidgeted awkwardly with his coat. |

"I was sick of them anyways, they're so by the book and always trying to get me to work. I was ready to run away anyways, so it's no big deal." "You hate work but you were planning on running away? Sorry, but that makes no sense." "Hey as soon as I finish this job I'll be golden. All my guardians are a part of me so if I'm registered then they're registered and I can send them on missions. The guild considers each guardian her own person, why do you think they offered to let me take the test alone?" "Never thought of that. So what kind of guardians do you have." Yuen knelt down and pulled three cards out of the holder on his ankle. "This was my first guardian, Alice." Yuen said as he showed him a picture with a young blonde girl on it. "I saw the girl in the city one day and the first thing I thought of was back when my older brother would read me Alice in Wonderland and explain the way he saw the world behind the story. So she's based off of those memories, although I added the rabbit ears and tail and the pocket watch to her personally so she's kind of a combination of Alice and the white rabbit." Yuen switched cards. "This is Witch, my second guardian." The card had a portrait of a young girl dressed like a witch, holding a broom. "I don't know why but the family was trying to get me to create my second guardian and the only thing on my mind at the time were witches, so I went and found someone with the right look and she was created. It was only later that the family found out I had made two female guardians." Yuen switched to his last card. "This is Miko, my third guardian." The picture was of a girl with long black hair, tied in three places, and wearing traditional miko clothing. "This one was actually really simple. I saw this girl working at a shrine one day, took a picture and then I had Miko." "Wow that's quite a line-up of guardians." "Just be thankful you haven't met any of them yet. Alice is a great girl but Miko has no sense of humour and I wouldn't be surprised if I woke up one day and Witch had you licking her boots." Danzai stared at Yuen questioningly. "I wish I was kidding." Yuen ran up ahead of Danzai. "Hey Judi? how long until we get there?" Edited by Kyliea, Jul 26 2011, 09:28 PM.

Judi didn't notice the call, and kept reading, her full attention devoted to the book. Danzai rolled his eyes, and hoisted Judi up by the back of her cloak. Judi dropped the book and thrashed about. "Hey, what's the big idea!" Danzai put her down. "You have no awareness of your suroundings do you? You were asked how far off we were." Judi leaned down and picked up the book, dusting it off. She put it away. "Oh, we're just around the corner from it actually. See, there's the wheat fields. And that forest to the right is where the Goblins are coming from." Yuen blinked. "Isn't that one over there?" Danzai looked over, and drew out his hammer. "Yeah. Looks like it. Probably two or three more just behind it. Let's go!" Danzai rushed towards the goblin, but the path was too open for a surprise strike. The goblin readied a small spear. However, Danzai's charge was not to be easily stopped, and the hammer crashed into the goblin's face, sending it flying. While Danzai dealt with the first one, 2 more rushed in from the side, and Yuen and Judi ran forward to engage them, Judi's palm lighting up with a fireball. |
