Thought I'd start a thread about this movie (even though we won't get to see it before two years! ) William Fichtner Also Joins Neill Blomkamp's Sci-Fi Flick 'Elysium' April 6, 2011 Source: Variety by Ethan Anderton The cast already includes Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley and Wagner Moura already set to star in Neill Blomkamp's next sci-fi film Elysium, it's hard to believe the cast could get any better. But Variety reports William Fichtner (The Dark Knight, Drive Angry 3D) has now joined the cast of the secretive project. Once again, plot details are scarce, but we know the film takes place 100 years in the future and deals with a social allegory that District 9 similarly touched upon, but on a much bigger scale. Interestingly enough, if you don't recall, Fichtner also starred with Jodie Foster in the sci-fi movie Contact back in 1997. As far as any other information, we know Wagner is supposed to play some sort of villain who has a crazy sense of humor, but the problems he creates for our protagonist remain to be seen. As for the sets that will take us to the distant future, Syd Mead, responsible for work on such iconic futuristic films as Blade Runner, will be responsible for those. However, sit back and relax, because we have almost two years before we'll see Elysium on the big screen as it won't hit theaters until March 8th, 2013, so stay tuned! Excited? http://www.firstshowing.net/2011/william-fichtner-now-joining-neill-blomkamps-sci-fi-flick-elysium/ |

She could be on from the minute the movie starts until the minute the movie ends, and it still wouldn't be enough screen time.

Video at link: http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/04/26/jodie-foster-elysium/ Jodie Foster Says Her Alien 'Elysium' Head Of State Is 'Evil-ish' Neil Blomkamp's much buzzed-about upcoming film "Elysium" had many of us sold even before its stellar cast was announced. Mostly because his first film, "District 9," was SO great! But now with all the star power of Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley, Jodie Foster, Wagner Moura and my favorite, William Fichtner, the movie is pretty much a must-see. Even if we have to wait until March 8, 2013, to see it. Although details are scarce, I managed to get Jodie Foster to talk briefly about her role as an alien head of state during the press day for "The Beaver" on Tuesday. When asked whether her character will be a good or bad alien ruler, Foster said she'll be a little bit of both. "I'm kind of evil-ish, yes, I'm kind of evil-ish, which you know I love," she said. "I'm just excited to work with Neil Blomkamp, the director of "District 9," which I think is pretty much as close to a perfect film that I can think of, and Matt Damon, who I'm a big fan of, and Sharlto Copley." What about her character's look in the film? Has she received any details on that? "Not quite yet, I guess I'll have to wait and see," Foster said. "But I look fabulous, I'm just going to tell you that right now," she joked. And what of the aliens in the film? Green martian stuff or realistic, human-like extra terrestrials? "No I think he's exploring similar themes [as depicted in "District 9"] about social injustice, and a future that excludes people, where the have-nots and the haves are becoming more and more distinct." Works for me! 2013, hurry up! |

I'm guessing that if she's evil-ish, he might have had her in mind because of Inside Man. A lot of people liked her in that role, I know I did.
