Hello guys! I came accross an interview in French magazine Gala, here's a translation:Q: What do you think the French think of you? Between France and me, it's a love story. I have an extremely tight bond with the French. I'm going to Cannes this year with great pleasure to present The Beaver. The first time I went, I was 12 and we won the Palme d'Or for Taxi Driver. Q: Hoping you won't be forced to cancel, like the time they had asked you to preside the jury! Yes, two weeks after saying yes, I was offered to replace Nicole Kidman in Panic Room. So I went to Cannes to give the best movie award if I remember correctly. I was at the Martinez. This year, I won't stay long either, just the time to defend my movie. Q: Have you ever disguised yourself in order to escape the paparazzis? When I started off, that kind of armies of photographers didn't exist. Today, the growing trend of paparazzi websites on the internet bothers me. There is no more distinction between news and entertainment. Q: If you were 17, what would you do? I don't think I'd become an actor. The young actors must face so much mediatic craziness! Honestly I wouldn't have been able to have a career in these conditions. I think a lot of my peers of my generation share this sentiment. Q: What are you favorite actresses of the new generation? Natalie Portman or Kristen Stewart are true role models for young women. I spent 110 days in a room as small as a table with Kristen Stewart (for Panic Room). She's a wonderful young woman, mature and extremely interesting. Q: What star would you like to be stuck in an elevator with? Mel Gibson. He's an incredible and loyal friend. He's endearing, funny and down to earth. Contrary to what people may think, he's very communicative and very attentionate to people around him. In private, he's way more sensitive and attentionate than what he shows in public. Even if that doesn't mean that I understand all his behaviors. Q: In life, what was the best proof of friendship you ever received? It's Mel Gibson who gave it to me. One day he called me and it had been quite a while we hadn't talked to each other. At the same time, I came out to grab the mail and I violently hit my head against a tree. I was bleeding a lot and in less than five minutes he came at my house with arnica, ice, bandaids... That's Mel. I know I can call him at 3 am if I need him. Q: Your remedy against stage fright? I spend time with my dog and my fish (laughs) Q: Gérard Depardieu once said that in order to be a good actor, one has to be completely crazy. What do you think about this sentiment? (laughs) I don't know but I don't think one can learn to be a comedian. You can get better at it, but to act is something innate. Maybe one needs to be crazy, but from birth (smiles) Q: Do you forgive easily? It depends. Sometimes I do, sometimes not. It's easy to say you're somebody who can forgive easily when it doesn't have an impact on your life. Q: What is the first thing you think of when you see your kids in the morning? In general, when I see my kids, I see myself. Its probably because I never had a father and my mother raised me alone. Q: What makes you afraid? Of growing old alone. This is something that comes from my mother. She would tell me: "I'm an only child, so I prefer to stay alone." When I analize her life, that's what scares me. She didn't really have any friend, and would spent her time watching CNN or movies. She watched thousands of DVDs. Q: What is the best advice you were given? That the first impression is always the right one. |

Thank you Frenchy!
This is an interesting answer, that she's afraid of being alone. Maybe that's why she seems to have a hard time separating from Cyd? It mirrors what she'd said in Psychologies Magazine when she said something like one of the worst thing that can happen to you is breaking up and ending up alone. I hope she realizes that she's Jodie Foster lol When you're her, there's a very small risk of ending up alone if you don't want to. |

Thank you very much Frenchy, always a pleasure to read the French interviews I think she will always find someone to love her (there's me !) She still identifies strongly to her mom doesn't she. But I noticed she talks about her in the past sense... Like she's already gone.
