    THE GODZILLA
    Novice
Well I have finished chapter 1 of my story. It will either play out in two ways, one which just has Cyber-Zilla and Godzilla (Zilla), or another which may have those two and much more monsters. Not sure yet, but I would prefer to add more monsters. Anyway, here is chapter 1...

    ----

    Chapter 1

The year is 1998. A report had come in that a fishing boat had gone missing in the high seas. Soon, the remains were discovered in the ocean, and a research submersible was sent down to investigate. The sub revealed that the ship had extremely large tears in its hull. At first, it was believed to be an attack by an enemy submarine. However, the ship was brought up from the depths of the ocean to investigate it more, and it revealed that this was in fact, not an attack from a submersible. The tears looked like long claw marks, much like what a predator would leave in its prey. Soon, another ship went missing, and soon, yet another. When examining the areas where the ships were sunken, General Luke Adam Dellis, a commander of the U.S. military at the time, noticed a pattern. They all seemed to form a line, a line that was heading for the city of New York! Within the next week, ships had said to have seen “large forward protruding shark fins” on the surface in the Hudson Bay. And pretty soon, it rose from the bay...

The creature rose up from the ocean depths and made its way into the city. Buildings collapsed, cars went flying, and people were trampled as the creature rampaged through the city. The creature was met with a helicopter strike, and managed to take out a few before burrowing into the earth and disappearing. The whole city was on guard, waiting for the beast, now dubbed, Zilla, to appear. And that would not be long. Zilla rose from the earth in Madison Square Garden and began to make its way towards the Hudson Bay. The military gave chase, but the creature leapt into the water. However, submarines in the bay met with the beast. Zilla managed to sink one, but when it was barraged with torpedoes, there was no sign of the beast. It was presumed dead.

That was until a team of researchers, consisting of a man named Joe Taylor and 4 others, went looking for any remains. They discovered that it had managed to escape by digging into the earth. The team used a sub to locate the spot and used it to get them inside of it. Once the water level was gone, they got out, and began walking along the path. They finally came to the end of the tunnel, which emerged within a large building in Madison Square Garden. But what they discovered absolutely stunned them. Inside, were large piles of fish, as high as 7 feet! But that was nothing compared to what they would see next.

The next room contained large eggs, bundled together in pods of 2 or 3. It seemed that Zilla could reproduce A-sexually. As the research team gazed in awe, one of the eggs suddenly cracked opened. A reptilian form emerged from the egg, and soon, the other eggs began to hatch. The baby Zillas began to feed on the piles of fish that their parent had brought, and the research team decided that the time was to leave...but the baby Zillas had other plans for them.

The fish were rapidly decreasing, and the babies were hungry. The creatures slowly converged on their prey, and the giant game of cat and mouse had begun. The creatures used their agility and intelligence to hunt their prey, and managed to kill 2 of them. The survivors escaped into the main hall of the building, but when they looked down the staircase, there were baby Zillas flocking the area. They escaped through the hanging chandeliers in the hall. The Zillas tried to chase them, but the humans barricaded the door. Joe Taylor looked around and saw a destroyed jeep and ran to it. He searched for any useful weapons and found exactly what they needed.

Joe returned to the scene with a bomb, and set it to explode in 15 seconds. He then chucked it through a window and the babies chased after it. The crew ran as far as they could from the scene, and soon, the entire building blew up, killing the vile beasts in it. But the ground trembled, and from the concrete rose the adult Zilla. The creature looked down and saw one of its children. The monster nudged it, but it was dead. Zilla was enraged and attacked the humans. They managed to jump into a taxi cab and began to drive as fast as they could from the scene. But Zilla was on their heels, and chased them all the way to the Brooklyn Bridge. The taxi made it all the way over, but Zilla became entangled in the cables. The creature roared out in frustration, when the air was suddenly filled with the scream of jets.

Two F-18 fighters flew into the scene. One swooped in and fired 3 missiles, right into Zilla’s right arm. Zilla howled in pain as his arm was impacted by the missiles. The other one swooped in as well, and fired 3 missiles at the monster’s chest. Zilla struggled to stand up, but was having trouble doing so. The jets swooped back in and fired all of their remaining missiles at Zilla’s head. The missiles impacted in his throat and the back of his head. Zilla collapsed to the ground, finally finished. The 3 researchers came back to the scene, along with many other people, including the news press and the military. They all gazed at the fallen beast, and watched as its eyes closed and its heart beat ceased. The terrible monster was finally dead.

    * * *

News crews attempted to get through the line of police, trying their best to get footage of the dead Zilla. Crowds of spectators were eager to see the dead corpse, for to them, it sealed the threat forever. Among the chaos, Joe Taylor was allowed through the line to see the dead creature. He soon heard a voice from behind him.

“We finally got the beast.” said General Luke Dellis.

Dellis was a tall man. His legs were long and muscular and his hair a dark black. The front was jelled up, as if to give off an intimidation to anyone who dared to gaze at it. He had white skin with a tinge of brown in it. The general’s eyes were a soothing dark brown color. The man’s build would have tricked anyone into thinking that he was in his 20’s. He was in fact in his early 30’s.

“Yes,” answered Joe, “It went down in quite a sad death.”

Joe was a bit different in looks than Dellis. Joe had light blue eyes, almost the color of a clear sky on a sunny spring day. Joe’s light brown hair was slightly curly, and it extended down to his neck. His looks would fool no one though. It was obvious that he was in his middle 20’s.

    “Sad?” questioned Dellis.

“The beast was only trying to survive sir. That’s natural instincts.” responded Joe.

“Umm, I’m not much of a science man. Could you explain how that thing possibly have instincts?” asked Dellis.

“Well, it’s rather simple. Zilla appears to be a creature mutated from a nuclear bomb or other means of radiation infusion.”

    “Ok...”

“So Zilla was originally a regular creature trying to live and survive.”

“Then why did it come here?”

“That is an excellent question, but it can be answered through one word. And that word is reproducing.”

    “So that thing laid eggs?”

“Yes it did. Zilla, like any other animal, must breed in order to spread its species and improve its chance for survival. So the creature chose New York as its nest. And the creature appeared in Madison Square Garden of all places? Because that’s where it laid its eggs!”

“But why did it retreat to the harbor?”

“Retreat? No, it had nothing to do with retreat. Zilla headed to the Hudson Bay after emerging from Madison Square Garden. The creature was actually going to gather food for when its young hatched. As we went into that tunnel found in the bay, we witnessed the creature burrowing through the earth. Luckily it didn’t notice us.”

“So what of the young? Did they hatch?”

“When he came to the end of the tunnel, it emerged into a large building in Madison Square Garden. And inside we found the eggs, along with piles upon piles of fish. These were to feed the babies. When the young hatched, they all went for the fish, completely ignoring all of us. That is, until the fish ran out...”

“So those are your predictions? Anyway, back to what we were discussing...”

“Yes, those are only predictions. Some of it may be completely right, or it could be completely wrong.

“So only 3 of you made it out... What happened to the others?”

“They suffered a gruesome fate. One was savagely mauled as we retreated, and the terrible shouts of his screams and bones being crushed were shattering to our hearts. We managed to find an elevator, but it was being blocked by a baby. The other member who did not make it heroically jumped at the Zilla and distracted it long enough for us to get into the elevator. He managed to push the reptilian off of him and he ran for the elevator. However, the baby was not far behind, and grabbed him by the leg. The elevator door closed as we saw the creature tear off his leg...”

    “I’m sorry for your losses.”

    “They were both good people...”

“So how did you get out?”

“Well, the elevator took us to the main floor, but it seemed to be much worse up on this floor than below from where we were. There were babies flocked in the entire area. We knew we had no chance to get out of there...until we saw the chandeliers hanging from the top. We managed to swing our way out of the building. However, we knew we had to destroy the young.”

“But how could you destroy them?”

“That is where you guys came in. We found a destroyed jeep with bombs in it. I managed to set the bomb and throw it in the building as my comrades kept the door closed. We then ran like hell! And we were lucky too. The bomb went off and did not manage to hurt us other than some slight injury from debris.”

“And then the adult came up and chased you all the way to the bridge? Right where we got him too.”

“Well, I wouldn’t consider the beast as a him. More of an it, mainly because of its ability to reproduce A-sexually, the ability to become impregnated without need of sex from another in the species.”

“So...do you think any of those babies survived?”

“I’m not sure. The explosion might not have reached down into the bottom where the eggs were.”

“Well then, I guess we should go looking for some then.”

Dellis pulled his walkie-talkie from his pocket and gave the message to search for any babies who could have survived. Dellis then put his radio away as a military jeep rolled up next to him and Joe.

“You and I are going to look as well.”

Dellis jumped into the jeep, and though a little hesitant, Joe followed. The jeep’s engine roared as it took off, heading towards Madison Square Garden.

    * * *

The jeep soon came to a halt. Joe gazed out the window to see the area buzzing with activity. And there in front of his view was the charred building that contained the baby Zillas. Dellis jumped out of the jeep and ran up to a nearby solider. Joe soon followed up...

“Sir, we are ready to go into the building.” said the soldier.

“Good. Me and Mr. Taylor will head down to the deepest part of the building to check if any of those buggers managed to live. Now get going!”

“SIR YES SIR!” responded the soldier as he took off.

“Well, time to head in.” Dellis told Joe as he grabbed a rifle from a nearby soldier and handed it to Joe.

The two men went in first and went down deep into the reaches of the buildings. Soon, they came upon the area that originally contained the eggs. The two gazed around as they saw egg shells littered all about the area.

“Well, let’s see if there’s any eggs left over.” said Dellis.

The two men moved off and searched the area. Their flashlights lit the area as they checked all over for any eggs. They came upon plenty of egg shells, but didn’t seem to find any intact ones.

Suddenly, Joe saw something move in the corner of his eye. He spun around and aimed his rifle, but there was nothing there.

    “You see something?” asked Dellis.

“Could’ve sworn I saw something move-”

Joe was cut off with a loud shriek as a shadow was seen behind them. The two men turned around to see a baby Zilla, charging right at them. The two men fired off shots, but it was too late, and the creature leapt up into the air and came down onto Dellis. The man grabbed the young reptile’s jaws as they tried to clamp down on him. He could not the creature back forever though!

Suddenly, a gun shot was heard as the baby Zilla slammed down onto its side. The creature quickly got up to its feet, as a shriek of blood was seen above his eye. The baby Zilla screamed out and suddenly turned around and retreated. But the men would not just let it run off like that! The chase was on!

But as soon as it started, it was over. The two men came to a halt as they gazed out in front of them. It was the same tunnel that Joe has been in earlier. The water level was still the same and the young creature used this to escape!

    “God damnit!” yelled Dellis.

“I managed to get it right above the eye.” replied Joe.

“Yes, but sadly it didn’t kill it.”

The two men radioed in that one had escaped and began to head up the tunnel and to the surface...
