Greetings! I have finished my first installment of my "Alternate Chimerus Series." This is not the "Official Chimerus" timeline, but it seems that I am doing the alternate first! This story is a direct sequal to "Wishes of a Godzilla Fan," and starts 2 and a half hours after the plane takes off, leaving the Georges behind. Here, we get to see Nightmare Godzilla face off with Chimerus the Regisaurus. I had a lot of fun writing this story, and I hope you have as much fun reading it. After all, that's the point of this stuff, right? |

Godzilla vs. Chimerus I Won Park sat in his seat in the Osprey-jet over the Pacific ocean. He was reviewing the events of the last few weeks- again. Specifically, he kept going over the attempt he had just made- successfully- to get Godzilla's blood. They had landed in Japan, met with the Emperor, and evacuated most of Japan. As expected, Godzilla had shown up to kill as many of the evacuees as possible. George McCool and his double from another dimension, a dimension where Godzilla only existed as a movie!, led the attempt to get Godzilla's blood. The attempt was successful, but it came with a price. Both George McCools were missing and assumed dead. Their airplane had to leave without them to avoid getting destroyed by Godzilla. Park contemplated this. Godzilla could have easily vaporized the plane with his breath, but he didn't. That meant that he didn't want to. Godzilla did anything, and everything, he wanted to. But why? Park wasn't thinking clearly. He knew he wasn't, but he couldn't help it. He had admired George very much. George had been the brains behind the basic idea of Project Regisaur, and had been the spirit behind the whole thing. Throughout the whole thing, from the first stages when the Project was just getting organized, through the big Debate that Brandon Cain had eventually won, through the coup in the aftermath of the Black Hole bomb, all the way to just, what, two and a half hours ago, when the plane took off, leaving both McCools behind. Leaving them behind with Godzilla. Godzilla would have definitely killed them by now. Godzilla destroyed everything. That was what Godzilla was- a Destroyer, with a capital "D." Godzilla showed no mercy. But Park had Godzilla's blood. That was what George had wanted. He said that it would make their regisaurs stronger. They would have a better chance of killing Godzilla. That was what George had lived for since Godzilla's March to the Mississippi. Godzilla's almost worldwide rampage had ended with Godzilla setting fire to the Amazon rain forest, decreasing global temperatures and resulting in a worldwide famine. That was one thing that had struck Park about George's double. He was a bit pudgy around his gut. Nobody Park had ever seen was fat at all. Food was rationed strictly in every country Park could think of. Things were less bad in America, but still, nobody had any excess fat. But now he was dead. Both George's were. They had to be. But they just couldn't be! But at least George would be happy that Park had the Godzilla blood. George would have been furious if Park had decided to have the plane stay around to try to pick him up. He had impressed this upon Park during the flight to Japan, after Godzilla disappeared. Grief eventually takes its toll on a person's mind, and after a while, Park fell asleep. *** Park's plane was one of hundreds that made it from Japan. All flights to LAX had to be rerouted so that the air armada could land. As Park loaded the lead box containing Godzilla's blood (the syringe missile would have melted hours ago) into the waiting truck, he saw the Japanese everywhere. A few were crying over loved ones who had died along the way of various cancers, but most of the emaciated, scarred people were extremely happy. They were happy to be away from "Him." They kissed the ground, kissed each other, talked about their plans to move to the East Coast to get further away from Godzilla, danced, sang, and generally celebrated their good fortune. George would have liked it, Park decided. That got his mind working again, and once again, he remembered what had just happened. He got in the back seat of the vehicle, slammed the door, and told his driver to drive. **** It was a long and uncomfortable ride, but three days and several states later, Park's vehicle made it to the University that now housed Project Regisaur. He hadn't said much to the driver other than to agree that they could stop at a motel. He didn't even know who his driver was. This now struck him as a rather risky arangement, but it was too late now. Park took the lead box up to the Project lab and left it with Juan, the Project geneticist. "Hey Park. You got Godzilla's blood then? I'm impressed!" Juan said with amazement. "Yes." Park said simply. "What's wrong?" Juan asked. Then his eyes widened. "Where's George?" "Dead. The plane had to leave him. Godzilla was coming." Juan immediately looked downcast. "That-that's bad." "Yes." Juan let out a huge sigh. "Well, there is a meeting tomorrow, since you're back. You know Brandon will try to take over again. There will have to be another vote since George is dead, and it will be close. Brandon will try to use the fact that Godzilla killed George as evidence that his idea was not good." "It had nothing to do with that!" Park insisted. "We just had some bad luck! After all, this is Godzilla we're talking about!" "I know that," Juan responded. "I'm just saying that he will say that. Some people will listen. After all, Brandon did survive his attempt. That leaves him with some clout." "Yes. He survived in an airplane a mile away. The one that actually dropped the bomb was vaporized." "I hear what you're saying, Park, but he did survive. I'll tell you what. You look horrible. I'll start talking to people. You go to bed. It's up to you now, and I'll do everything I can to make sure you get chosen. Project Regisaur must go forward. The Black Hole bomb already showed it wouldn't work. This is probably our greatest hope-" Juan stopped talking abruptly as somebody walked into the lab. He hurriedly shoved the lead box under some papers. He didn't want anybody outside their anti-Godzilla group to hear anything about it. After all, it was illegal to mention Godzilla. "You go, and make sure you're at your best tomorrow. See you then." Park left Jaun's lab. Juan was right. He did need rest. He just wasn't sure he would get it. *** Park walked into the windowless room where they held their meetings. He always liked to show up early to meetings, just to be safe. He took his seat and waited for the others to show up. One by one they came in, taking their seats. Some made small talk until the door was closed, some just sat, and some reviewed some notes. Some look a bit subdued. Park assumed they were the ones that Juan had told about George. Juan would have told everybody that he thought he could swing to vote for Park. Was it about half of the people? Park tried to do a mental count, but he was stll a bit tired. George had usually come in last. The people who didn't know about him thought nothing of the last empty chair until Park got up and shut the door. George usually shut the door, so everybody knew that something was up. "Where's George?" Park heard someone ask. "George is almost certainly dead," Park said. He noticed Brandon's eyes brighten a little bit. "Our plane had to leave without him because Godzilla was coming." The room erupted in chatter. Most of it seemed a bit sad, but some of it seemed excited. Park wondered at the depravety that caused some to see a man's death as an opportunity. Park continued, "According to the rules and laws of this organization, the death of a Project Head results in a vote to elect a new Head, and the project that comes with him. Please bring out the voting box." One of the older members, a survivor of Godzilla's March to the Mississippi, brought out a cardboard box with a slit on the top. "Thank you. Now we will nominate Potential Heads. Does anyone have any nominations?" Juan immediately stood up. "I nominate Won Park to be Project Head, and continue Project Regisaurus." The German, Heinz Zeigler stood up. "I nominate Brandon Cain to be Project Head, and begin Operation Devastator." "I nominate Miles Fitzgerald to be Project Head, and begin Operation Snakebite." Everyone winced. It was very rude, though not against the rules to nominate yourself, but Miles Fitzgerald had done it. After that, no further nominations came in, so the debate started with the description of the different project ideas. Park quickly rehashed Project Regisaurus for the group. "Project Regisaurus is currently underway. The first phase is over. We obtained a blood sample from Godzilla, and we hope to use it to create five chimerial dinosaurs to fight him. With the backing of the Paleontology, Genetics, and Biology departments, we believe that we can have the chimerial dinosaurs ready to combat Godzilla in five years. You all have a copy of the specifics." Brandon stood up and spelled out his current plans. "Operation Devastator seeks to create the ultimate weapon. We will build an orbital bombardment laser and use it on Godzilla. When the beam hits the ground, it should be a circle about twenty meters in diameter. To prevent international problems, the UN will controll it. Accordingly, this group will come under the auspices of the UN." Finally, Miles Fitzgerald explained his plan. He spent about five seconds. "Operation Snakebite is at once simple and complicated. The aim is to create a chemical agent to kill Godzilla. Very simple idea. Very complex action." The three of them stood at the front of the room and the others debated each other. Every once in a while, someone would ask a question of one of them. Park caught some of the debate, but not much. He was still preoccupied. "I'm telling you, lasers make horrible weapons, especially in space!" Tony their physicist was telling Heinz. "It will cauterize any wound it makes, thereby giving Godzilla a better chance to survive a hit. He will then heal whatever wound is caused. Also, lasers create a lot of heat. Where is that going to go? There is no way to cool it down!" "And giving it to the UN! Horrible idea!" Someone else joined in. Park agreed. The UN had certainly done nothing when South Korea was overrun by the Communists. The UN had done nothing when Godzilla flattened Seoul. Of course, the Soviets had seen their opportunity. The Americans had tried to organize some sort of action, but the Soviets had blocked it. Of course, even if the Soviets hadn't, Godzilla was in the area, and having Godzilla active in the area of operations would tend to prevent effective military action. Park's family had fled once the takeover was complete. The Communists were just too brutal. A "vacation" to China, Russia, and France eventually led them to seek asylum in America. After Godzilla's attack in China, the Soviets had rushed in with "aid." Godzilla prevented the Americans from doing anything about it. The long and short of it was, the Soviet Union ruled about two-thirds of the world from Moscow. They knew exactly how to play the diplomacy game, and so the UN was basically a covering for Soviet domination of the world. "Giving it to the UN is completely non-negotiable," Heinz declared. "The European Community is completely against the idea of the United States having sole controll of a weapon of this magnitude." It seemed that most of the debate was over Brandon's idea. This was not good. Finally, someone asked Miles a question. "Why are you working on another poison? That's been tried before." "Well, Project Regisaurus was gracious enough to obtain a blood sample from Godzilla. With Godzilla's genetic material, we should be able to design a toxin specifically for Godzilla." That took Park completely by suprise. He was now sure that Brandon had put Miles up to it to try to split the votes that would go against him. The debate went on for a long time, then the three of them were asked to leave the building. Park feared he knew the outcome. Brandon had brilliantly split the anti-Brandon vote, and he would win, Park had no doubt. It was the same thing that happened in American Politics. A third party would only cause the side they agreed with more to lose. People were unwilling to accept half of what they wanted, so they got nothing they did want, and everything they didn't. The voting didn't last long. They were led back in to the room to hear the announcement of the winner. Sure enough, when the final votes were tallied, Brandon won by one vote. Miles had split the other vote, taking three votes that Park had been sure would have gone to him. Brandon had a gloating look on his face as he once again became Project Head. Park took his seat next to Jaun with a disgusted look. "What do we do now?" he whispered to Juan. "We keep working on it in secret, just like we did before." "You know what his first order is going to be, right?" Juan merely motioned towards Brandon, who was now speaking. "And so, as a backup plan, I think that Miles Fitzgerald should be given the Godzilla blood to carry out his toxin work. Next week, the UN delegation will arrive. Anyone who does not wish to work for the UN is authorized to leave immediately." Everyone who worked on Project Regisaur got up to leave. Brandon waited until they were at the door before he made his last remark. "Oh, and you may wish to remember that if you leave this group and continue work on creating a monster, you will be charged with an Extreme Felony by the World Court, by Global Defense Initiative order number fifty three." Park started wondering just what Brandon was up to now. The World Court was an invention of the Soviets and the EU. It had no authority in the US. But Brandon would not have said anything like that if he didn't know something. What was it? *** Park and Juan went to the lab. They needed to take action immediately. If they waited, Brandon would have some goons make off with the Godzilla blood. "We can't keep all of it," Juan said. "They know we have it, but they don't know how much we have." "We got one rocket back, that's about 300 milliliters, or 10 ounces." "We'll give them 200 mL." Juan said. He got another lead box and handed it to Park. "We'll take make the transfer immediately." They hooked the boxes up to a machine and shut the lead door. Five minutes later two things happened. First, Brandon Cain and Miles Fitzgerald walked in the door, flanked by four Blue Helmets carrying AK-47's. The second thing that happened, once everybody was in the room, was that the machine they were using to pump the blood beeped, alerting Juan that it was done. "We're here for the Godzilla blood. Give it to us." Brandon said. "We just got done filtering out the remains of the Syringe Missile from it." Juan answered. "Really?" Brandon asked, his voice positively dripping with disbelief. "Why don't we have a look." "I would advise against that, as it will still be radioactive." "Are you sure its not really Godzilla blood that you might be stashing away?" "It's not. Godzilla's blood melted the rocket, and I had to hook it up to this machine to filter the garbage out." He opened the door to the machine, grabbed the original box and shook it. Park clearly heard metal banging around inside. "Alright," Brandon sneered. "Give me the Godzilla blood, and we'll be on our way." Juan handed Brandon the box containing the blood to Brandon, and they left. "Whew. That was close." Juan said after they were gone. "Did you really give them all of the blood?" Park asked anxiously. "Of course not. What they don't know, and what you don't know, is that this machine has a secret compartment with a third lead box. If I put in a certain code, It will pump a specified ammount to that third box. Now, quickly! We don't have much time! While you were gone, the Paleontology department gave us some fossils. I have extracted what DNA I could from them, now we have to put them together. I need to know exactly what you want." *** They worked well into the night. Without the very good supercomputers they had bought during the first conspiracy phase of Project Regisaurus, what they were doing would have taken years to accomplish, but by three in the morning, they had assembled the DNA strand for their dinosaur chimera. Juan saw at once that they would not be able to build the creature around Godzilla's DNA, that would have to be added to it. Deinonychus, Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus, some additions from Ankylosaurus, some from Saltasaurus, some DNA from snakes, a little from this, and a little from that, and a little that was developed by Juan. At last, they had the DNA molecule done. Juan removed the DNA from an ostrich egg, and inserted the chimera's DNA in its place. Unfortunately, the whole thing had used all the Godzilla blood they had. Juan couldn't figgure out why. He thought that maybe the machine had malfunctioned and given Brandon too much, but he was too tired to think too much about it. "Okay, now we have a problem." "What is it?" Park asked. The original idea was to have the Biology department raise and care for the little booger, but now we're illegal by the Global Defense Initiative order whatever. We have to find a place to keep the egg safe, and then to keep the baby safe once it hatches. Where are we going to do that? I have cats, so I can't take it." "I will take it to my house. I can watch it until it hatches, and we can use that time to think about where to take it after that." Park took the egg very carefully and tried to find a safe way to carry it while leaving it hidden. He couldn't find a way. "Here, I'll go ahead of you. If anyone shows up, disappear, and I'll try to distract them." They walked to Park's car, only meeting a stray cat along the way. "Okay. From here on, its up to you. If it hatches, give me a call." "If it hatches?" "Well, there is always some chance things won't work out. Good bye." *** Park went about his life sort of aimlessly for the next week or so. He really didn't have any reason for what he did. He realized that this was a way that he was like George. He had lived to kill Godzilla. He had a different reason for doing so, but that was his reason for life. George had greatly disliked Godzilla (his double had actually liked Godzilla), but he hadn't really hated him. George had wanted to kill Godzilla because of what Godzilla had done to Japan and the world. Park hated Godzilla, and he hated him because of what Godzilla had done to Park's family. His family had suffered greatly at the hands of the Communists, and Park was certain that it was Godzilla's fault. The Soviet Union was plundering the world, and he was certain that was Godzilla's fault too. Then it hit him. It came out of nowhere, and Park had no idea where it came from. Nobody had told George's family that he was dead! That was supposed to be his job! He had no idea where George's family was. He did know that George had gone to a small church in what had been a city of about 40,000 people before Godzilla had stomped through it. Now it was about half that size. Park thought he might as well start there. The next day was Sunday, and Park drove the fifteen miles to the town. He knew where the church was, because George had invited him quite a few times. He went into the church towards the end of the sermon. It was interesting. The Pastor sounded a lot like George did, when he wasn't planning ways to kill Godzilla. He talked about how everyone has done wrong. "Everybody has broken God's law," He said. "If you've ever lied, you've broken God's law. If you've ever stolen anything, you've broken God's law. If you've broken the law, you have to pay the consequences. But the wages of sin is death. Physical deat entered the world through Adam's sin. When we sin, when we break God's law, we die spiritually. That is a fine we cannot afford to pay. Luckily, Jesus is offering to pay your fine for you. Will you let him?" At the end, the Pastor gave people an invitation to come forward and pray to confess their sin to Jesus, and ask for forgiveness. Park waited until everything was over, then went up to the Pastor. "Hello. I am Won Park, and I am trying to find the family of George McCool. I hear he went to church here." "Yes, he did. I assume he died in Japan?" Park was suprised he knew about that. "Did he tell you about that?" "No. God did. God had me tell him that if he did go to Japan, he would die. He went, so now I assume he is dead. You were looking to alert his family?" "I was." "They don't live here. George was up here for college, and for the chance to fight Godzilla. I can't give his family's address to you, but I will tell them for you. In the meantime, I think you need to get back to your egg. It will be hatching soon." Park wasn't sure how he knew about the egg, but when he got back to his house, it was just starting to hatch. He called Juan very quickly, and had to "cough" to hide his excitement. "Juan? I need you to come over and help me, um, clean my house. It is very dirty, and I expect family to come visit me." Juan got there just as the dinosaur had gotten himself fully out of the egg. The baby plopped himself over and started licking the egg yolk off of himself. Then, unexpectedly, he launched himself through the air and landed on Park's shoulder. Park, who was kneeling down by the thing when it happened, was very suprised and when he flinched, he fell over. Before he hit the ground, the dinosaur had hopped off of him onto the floor. Amazingly, his lips pulled back into a smile, and he gave a short series of shrieks that sounded suspiciously like laughs. He jumped back onto Park's shoulder, and started nuzzling his face. That was when Juan got his first good look at it. It had scales all over its body, a short, rather stubby tail with little nubs on the sides at the end. He had two longish arms which ended in three-fingered hands. His head looked exactly like a baby T.rex's head, his body and legs were the perfectly balanced body of a Deinonychus, and likewise, his feet were the two-toed feet of the Dromaeosaurids. His overall coloration was desert tan, but he had some pearlescent scales here and there that added some more color. "That is one ugly chimera," Juan said. "Really? I think he is cute." Park said as he watched the dinosaur romp around. "Hmm," Juan replied. "What should we call him?" "I think George kept a notebook of his plans. The one I described and you built was the one labled 'Regisaurus.' It means 'Regal Lizard.'" "That would do nicely for a species name, but what about a personal name?" "You call these things 'chimeras,' so how about 'Chimerus?" "That sounds good," Juan said. "Chimerus the Regisaurus. But what are we going to do with Chimerus? He can't stay at your house. I mean, this thing is going to grow big enough to fight Godzilla!" "Well, we can not just turn him loose. I can not think of anywhere right off the top of my head to keep him, though. Brandon would get very suspicious if we built a huge shed." "Hey! What about the basketball arena? No one has used it for years, and we could keep him there until he gets too big. By then, he'll be able to take care of himself." *** They had to break into the arena, but they had to do so in a way that would not show, or let sound out. Luckily, a delivery door had been left unlocked. They took Chimerus downstairs and into the bowels of the arena. It wasn't just a basketball court; there were weightrooms, several practice basketball courts, with several raquetball courts. There were many passages and hallways and rooms. Their only concern was keeping him downstairs where there were no windows. However, the energetic Chimerus ran wherever he wanted to. "He's got to be hungry," Park said. "Shouldn't we feed him?" "Oh, he should have some egg yolk left in his stomach for a few days at least. What we need to do is start him training for his fight with Godzilla." "What do you mean?" "A lot of fighting is probably instinct, but experience is very important. We should get some of those fighting roosters. We should also see if we can get him to watch a video of Godzilla. I haven't ever had any luck with getting an animal to watch TV, but some dogs do, from what I hear." "Maybe we should get some rats from a pet store?" Park asked. "Sure, why not? It probably couldn't hurt. But if we get the roosters, we need to try to keep them alive. They are very expensive." Chimerus jumped past them and continued his romp around the arena. However, buildings tend to fall into disrepair when they are not being used, and then other things move in. Juan and Park were about to leave when they saw one of those other things blocking their way. It was a rattlesnake. Park yelled out in suprise. The snake had not been there a little while ago. It started rattling its tail, a sign that it would attack, then they heard a tiny war-cry coming from behind them. Even though he was a mere four inches tall, Chimerus was coming to save them from the two foot snake. The humans backed off as Chimerus's charge grabbed the snake's attention. They were terrified that the snake would win and all of their efforts would be in vain, but they couldn't do anything. Chimerus was already in combat with the rattler. They saw the snake tense up and strike like lightning. They were sure that Chimerus had been bitten, but he had dodged just to the side. The snake's mouth had brushed by his right leg, but he had not been bitten. In the split-second that it took for the snake to retract its head from the strike, Chimerus lunged forward, grabbing the snake's neck with his toothless mouth. The snake thrashed around, for though Chimerus had no teeth, his strong jaws were crushing the snakes neck, and his saliva burned. The snake finally succeded in knocking Chimerus against a wall and dislodging him. He lunged again for Chimerus, but Chimerus was already on his feet, a yard from where he had landed. Chimerus closed his mouth. He wanted a large saliva build up. His nostrils narrowed as he took in a deep breath through his nose. The snake struck again and once more, Chimerus hopped out of the way, but then he opened his mouth. It sounded like a tiny sneeze. That is basically what it was. Chimerus blew all of the air in his lungs out through his mouth all at once. It carried his saliva with it and coated the snake with tiny droplets of Chimerus' spit. The saliva burned through the snake's skin, put out its eyes, and seeped into its bloodstream, killing it. When that was over, Chimerus rubbed up against the legs of the two men, then ran off, continuing his romp as if nothing had happened. "That was amazing," Juan said. "Yes. It seems that our fears were misplaced in respect to Chimerus' fighting abilities." "It does, but I still want him to get some more experience." *** The next day, Park showed up with some rats for Chimerus to chase around. It seemed that he had already found some on his own. But that was not the only suprise waiting for Park. He dug out his cell phone and called Juan. "Juan? Do you remember that stray I saw by the road?" "Yes." "Well, I saw it again today, and it seems to have grown And something else happened too. I think you should come see this." Juan left his class immediately and went to the arena. When he got there, he saw that Chimerus had doubled in size. His "terrible claw" on each foot was now more than a stub and so were the spikes at the end of his tail. Most noticeably, his back was now adorned with the plates of a stegosaurus. They were small, but easily recognisable. He also had teeth now. They saw them as he opened his mouth to hiss at a rat that was scurrying away. "Come down to the hallway," Park said. They went down the stairs, with Chimerus right behind them. They passed the first practice court and went into the equipment room that joined the two halls. "Did Chimerus eat a basketball?" Juan asked, laughing. "No." Park knelt down and pointed to a hole in the wall as Chimerus came up and rubbed against him. You will find that this hole is hot, and the same size as the dark circle on Chimerus' largest plate. Something shot out of it somehow." "How did you find this?" "Chimerus showed it to me. I don't know why, but he did." "Well, well. You're just full of suprises, aren't you Chimerus?" Juan reached down and scratched Chimerus' head. *** Chimerus continued to suprise them with the speed at which he grew. Within a week, he was as large as a man, and within a month, he had to stay on the main basketball court, because he was the size of a T.rex: much too large to fit in the halls. This was a very bad time for Chimerus. He was very energetic, but he was confined. Chimerus hated being confined. Park and Juan were getting anxious too. Chimerus was eating now, and though he didn't seem to need much food, the food needed to be large, and had to be brought into the gym. They were not really sure how much longer they could keep this up. Thankfully, they didn't need to. After two months, Chimerus was large. He filled the main court completely, and spilled over into the stands. He was very unhappy, and very uncomfortable. After two and a half months, Chimerus broke out of the arena, destroying it completely. The town went into a panic, and the airforce base about ten miles out of town launched fighters to meet him. Park and Juan just stood there, stareing at Chimerus as he walked through town. They knew that he wouldn't purposefully destroy stuff, but he was curious and energetic. Indeed, Chimerus was smiling for the first time in weeks. While Chimerus was stomping around town, Brandon walked up to Park and Juan with a nasty look on his face. "Well, I see you've been having fun. You do realize, don't you, that we've been spying on you? I see that you've made some remarkable progress. Thing is, so have we." He nodded to the two UN soldiers standing by him. They knocked Park and Juan down and placed the barrels of their AK-47's at their heads. "We will see how Chimerus the Regisaurus stands up to GDI's Ion Cannon. Then we will see how well you stand up to an AK-47. Then we will use the Ion Cannon on Godzilla, then we will use it on the White House. Europe is tired of America's busybody attitude. The Soviet Empire is tired of America's attempted impedence to the advance of Communism. It might have been bad for them if Godzilla hadn't shown up, but he's served his purpose now, and if they remove him, the rest of the world will be easier to handle. But now, behold! The Ion Cannon!" One of the stars in the sky suddenly got brighter. Chimerus noticed it too. It glowed with a blue light, then it streaked down to earth, as fast as lightning. Chimerus had about two seconds to react. He dropped to the ground, rolled onto his side, and caught the blue beam square on one of his plates. It started glowing, and soon the rest of his plates started glowing. The glow spread out to his other plates and then it all went to the largest plate on the side facing up, and shot back out, up into the sky, until it hit the very satilite that shot it. The resulting explosion lit up the night sky, and by that light, Chimerus saw Brandon and the Blue-Helmets holding Park and Juan prisoner. Chimerus let loose a shriek that shattered windows on cars and charged to the scene. The Blue-Helmets shot at Chimerus, but to no effect. With a precision born of his Dromaeosaurid base, Chimerus ate Brandon and the soldiers without even touching the ones he wanted to protect. Chimerus lowered his head down to the two men, who reached up to pat his nose. "Thank's Chimerus!" Juan shouted. "We've got trouble!" Park yelled as the sound of fighter jets filled the air. *** "This is Lone Ranger, closing in on one ugly dinosaur by the old sports arena. Do you have laser lock Tonto?" "Me have bad guy, Kemosabe." "Fire your Mavericks." The two F-16 Falcons unleashed two Maverick air to ground missles each at Chimerus. Chimerus saw them coming, and knew that if he moved they would definitely hit Park and Juan. He didn't move. The two men did, though. They started running for cover. They were half-way across the street when the missiles hit Chimerus and knocked them over. They turned over and looked at Chimerus, afraid that he had been hurt, but to their extreme relief, he didn't even seem to have been scratched. He roared a long, deep roar at the planes. A roar of pure rage. He jumped into the air as the planes made their second pass. "Lone Ranger is down! Lone Ranger is down!" Tonto shouted as he fired up his afterburner, heading out of the area as fast as he could. Chimerus gave a shriek of victory into the air, but then something caught his attention. Something smelled like something. He started heading west, and a little south. *** Godzilla stood up out of the water and gave a roar. His back started glowing, and he swept his beam across the bases of the buildings by the docks in Los Angeles. The bottoms vaporized, and the buildings came crashing down. Godzilla walked up onto the concrete shore. He was walking erect at the moment, but he could change that whenever he wanted to. For right now, he wanted to terrify these puny people with his shere size. He walked into the city, waving his tail around on the ground behind him, in case he had missed anything or anybody. Soon, the military showed up. The first were the Apache helicoptors. They buzzed around him firing their puny weapons. They had no weapons that could even peirce his skin. He changed his posture to that of an ordinary dinosaur. This brought his tail up, almost to the same level he held his head at. The pilots didn't see this, and a casual flick of his tail sent several of them to the ground in flames. The tanks arived next, but they were far beneath Godzilla's notice. He stepped on a few, but ignored their feeble efforts to curb him. Then he saw a woman holding a baby. She was running away. It would be fun to kill her, he decided. He saw her run down a side street, desperately trying to get away. He walked through a building in her path and looked right at her. She started running the other way. He saw where she would go, and rushed over to come out in front of her again. His lips drew back into a grin as he saw her running into an alley. He walked into it after her, shattering the buildings as he went. He caught up to her in in a few seconds, and was pleased to hear her scream right before he smashed her with his foot. Then, he caught the scent in the air. The scent that had brought him from Japan. He had forgotten about it momentarily, but his nose told him that somewhere east of here was another. But this other was an abomination. It smelled of not just too many different smells, but different kinds of smells. It was obviously one creature, but it smelled like three. It would have to be crushed. Godzilla turned from his destruction of this city. The other was coming, and he wanted to meet him in an untouched arena. That would prove interesting. Godzilla went back to the sea. *** Park and Juan wanted to follow Chimerus, but it was kind of hard to follow a dinosaur that could travel at apparently over one-hundred miles an hour if you have no idea where he is going. They were listening to the news, and Chimerus was out running Humm-Vees and Apache helicoptors. The only thing the military had that could keep up with him were the jets. They were using bigger missiles now, Harpoon anti-ship missiles. That scared them some, but Chimerus seemed to be still alive, so that was a good sign. Then they heard the music for a FOX News Alert. Godzilla was in Los Angeles. "You know, I'll bet Chimerus is on his way to LA to face down Godzilla." Juan remarked. "I think you are correct." "Do you think we can go?" "It may be difficult to find a flight in, but if we try hard enough, we can get in." *** Chimerus had stopped in a town for a while. He had torn open a grocery store and devoured the contents of the meat section and then he had returned to his trek west, over the mountains. Finally, he reached a very large city that seemed to go on forever. He could smell that the other creature was here. He could smell the destruction he had caused though he could not yet see it. Chimerus was surrounded by narrow, tall, shiny mountains. He had no idea what they were. He came up to one, and he saw the other one! It looked just like him, and it moved just like him. It smelled very odd. All of this unnverved and irritated Chimerus. He lashed out with his jaws, intending to bite the life out of this bizarre annoyance, but the result confused him. He saw the other one do the same thing, and expected to feel his jaws collide with the other's jaws, but when they should have, they hit something that shattered between his teeth, and the top of the shiny mountain came crashing down on top of him. Chimerus tried to jump out of the way, but he jumped into another building, which promptly crashed down onto him. He stood back up, roaring, and the debris fell off of him like rain. By now, people were running away, screaming. The military had been in the city since Godzilla's attack, and now they were shooting Chimerus. Chimerus' plates turned a deep red, as he got angry and started salivating. The saliva started dripping off his teeth as he inhaled a mighty breath, and then blew it all out at once. The corosive, toxic saliva disentigrated men and helicoptors. The tanks fared no better, as Chimerus pounched on them, squishing them under his feet, and slicing them open with the claws on his hands. Then he turned his attention back to the skyscrapers. He saw that not all of them were shiny like others. Some had people inside, and they looked out at him in terror. Something about seeing a huge eye looking at them scared them. Then, everything changed all at once. A long roar rang out from the direction of the bay. Chimerus sniffed the air. Yes. This was the other one. Perhaps he wanted to play? *** Godzilla sniffed the air. He was here. At last. Godzilla went off to meet this strange creature. They met at a park. Chimerus actually in the park, and Godzilla still among the skyscrapers, with only the front part of him sticking out. He was standing bent over, and he could see that Chimerus came up to about his chest. Godzilla let a short growl loose, and Chimerus responded with a shriek. Godzilla stood up to is full height of one-hundred fifty meters, and roared, challenging the little whippersnapper, and Chimerus hunkered down to get a better position to leap at the mutant that would dare challenge him. Neither moved yet. They were still eyeing each other. A news chopper caught it all on tape, and soon, everyone was watching the two saurians face off. Both looked regal, both looked awesome. Godzilla stared with his cold, white eyes. His fangs protruded from his mouth, and his jagged spines glowed slightly with anticipation. His bark-like charcoal colored skin in contrast with the smooth sides of his silverish spines. His spines did not flop around at all. He just stared at his enemy with well-earned self assurance. His razor sharp claws flexed as he thought of the thrill this fight would bring. Chimerus crouched low to the ground, his Stegosaurus plates a pale yellow as he was unsure of his enemy. He wagged his tail a little, flashing his Stegosaurus spikes. He bared his Tyrannosaur teeth, and his Deinonychus claw was pulled all the way back, to be ready for anything. As he waved his tail, his plates flopped around a little. He lowered his hands to the ground to give him more balance, and to give him a little more power if he needed to jump. Godzilla saw the movement of Chimerus' hands and attacked! He lowered himself down to a dinosaur's posture with a roar and charged at Chimerus, hoping to sink his fangs into the creature's ugly neck! Chimerus saw what was coming, and launched himself forward and to the left, just out of reach of Godzilla's tail and jumped backwards to be in front of Godzilla again. When Godzilla had missed Chimerus, he started charging up his breath. Chimerus saw the blue glow in Godzilla's mouth a split second before he landed, and ducked as fast as he could. Godzilla's blast hit Chimerus' plate, and it started glowing with the endergy it had absorbed. The energy dissapated amongst the rest of the plates, then concentrated at the largest on that side and shot back out at a Godzilla that was very stunned that Chimerus hadn't been obliterated. Chimerus could tell that the skin on his plates had been singed, but he had no time to worry about this now. He lunged at Godzilla, who was still a bit shocked that his own beam had been reflected back on him, and ripped into him. Godzilla howled in pain and grabbed Chimerus. He held him with his hands, then lunged forwards and sank his teeth as far as he could into Chimerus' throat, but then he got another shock: One of his fangs had snapped, and he couldn't even get his teeth into the neck! Chimerus had bone "chain-mail" in his neck, another gift from Stegosaurus. While Godzilla tried unsuccessfully to get his teeth past the bone under Chimerus' skin, Chimerus seized the opportunity to use his Deinonychus feet to slash at Godzilla's body. Godzilla howled in pain again, and let Chimerus go. His back started glowing, but it didn't gather in his mouth. Nuclear light errupted from all of Godzilla's wounds and his Nuclear Pulse blasted Chimerus back and into the buildings. Unfortunately, that was the time that Juan and Park showed up. Godzilla saw them running up, and he was sure that Chimerus was dead, or knocked out at the least. He was tired of his game, and he wanted to terrorize the small creatures. Park looked at Godzilla, and he saw that Godzilla was looking right at him. A shiver ran down his spine at the sight he saw. Godzilla had defeated Chimerus, and he was coming for him. Both humans ran, screaming at the top of their lungs. Godzilla recognised one of the people. He had been with the one who had a twin, but Godzilla had let him get away that time. Well, not this time. Still bleeding, but not for long, Godzilla gave chase. He toppled another building onto the fallen Chimerus with his tail as he passed. He was about to run down the humans when he was suddenly knocked over, tackled from the right! It was Chimerus again! Godzilla started charging for another Nuclear Pulse, but Chimerus hopped off of him just in time. Chimerus turned broadside to Godzilla, his plates turning deep red with anger, and waved his Stegosaurus tail threateningly. His hands were on the ground to stablize him, because he knew that his tail was so strong, that if he had to use it, it would knock him over if he stood up. Godzilla saw the gesture, and charged up his breath. He wouldn't fall for letting Chimerus reflect it again. He would shoot Chimerus' feet off and then finish him. Right before he got shot, Chimerus jumped up onto the buildings. Jumping from building front to building front, and using his claws to hold on, Chimerus accomplished two things. He found himself at Godzilla's side, and he had created so much dust and smoke and noise, that Godzilla didn't know it! He clamped down on Godzilla's neck with his powerful jaws and T.rex teeth, hoping to poison Godzilla if he didn't slice his juggular or crush his neck. He saw Godzilla's back glowing again and let go just in time to avoid getting hit by Godzilla's Nuclear Pulse, which, coming from the wounds in his neck, levelled the skyscrapers around them, causing an avalanche of concrete and metal. Godzilla and Chimerus both stood up out of the rubble and looked at each other. Both had been wounded and had healed their wounds. Both were tired, but both still had a lot more to give. Chimerus jumped at Godzilla with his killer feet forward, his arms and tail held up, and his mouth open, just like a Dromaeosaurid. Godzilla reacted in a split second, waiting until Chimerus was in the air, then he ducked and spun, so that his tail pushed Chimerus forward faster. Chimerus rammed into a building, which collapsed onto him, and Godzilla rushed up to rip his guts out with his claws, but with his first clawing of Chimerus' abdomen, Godzilla received a Raptor Claw in the chest. It plunged deep into Godzilla's chest, shattering his chest bones and nearly killing him. Godzilla staggered back, trying to heal his wound and saw Chimerus coming at him. Godzilla roared with fury at the creature who would fight him, and charged up a Nuclear Pulse he knew would kill him. Chimerus bit into Godzilla's arm before he saw that Godzilla was charging up. He tried to pull back, but Godzilla held on to him, digging his claws into Chimerus' arms. Chimerus panicked. He knew what Godzilla was about to do, and with the hole that it could come out, it would surely kill him. There was no way that Chimerus could turn to absorb it on his plates. Chimerus sneezed repeatedly on Godzilla's arm that held him. He clawed at it with his free hand, but he couldn't get free. Finally, he bit Godzilla's arm and mauled it, severing a nerve. Chimerus leaped out of the way of the hole in Godzilla's chest and only received a small dose of the pulse that came out of a wound on Godzilla's arm. He sank down to the ground, exhausted. Park and Juan came up to him and he smiled. His plates changed to a green, pleased hue and he went to sleep. *** America celebrated the victory of Chimerus over Godzilla. The President ordered the military to not attack Chimerus, but that was about the extent of the good news. The Soviet and European Unions wern't too happy, and they went to the United Nations to protest "America's Secret Biological Weapon." Each started crash programs to create their own chimeras. The Soviets and Europeans met openly about plans to punish America. They decided, also openly, to take out America's allies first. They issued Israel an ultimatum to abandon the United States and join the Soviet Bloc within the year, or face anhialation. However, while the world seemed to fall to pieces, a young boy from Los Angeles, whose parents had been killed by Chimerus went to the battle site and saw Godzilla's corpse melting. He knew nothing about radiation, and so approached the aftermath without a care. He was lucky. If he had come a minute earlier, he would have instantly died. What he found, turned out to be truly horrible for the world. Godzilla, like a pheonix, will be reborn from the corpse of its "parent." The child took the young Godzilla and cared for him. Godzilla will never die! |
