This little story I wrote like a few years ago. Some may remember it, some may not. It wasn't one of my popular stories, though, but it did get good reviews. I wrote three Sessions of this. This story is about King Ghidorah, everyone's favorite three headed space dragon. He becomes a good guy in and learns how to shape shift into human form--trying to cover up his horrible past. And to make things funnier, he's a frelling psychic talk show host. Rediculous, but funny. And funny is what this Yiddish swearing, German speaking Space Dragon is all about.

    I guess..on with the wierdness!

    KG’s Prophecy

    Session One

He had the most charming of voice she had ever heard. It was no wonder he was such a hit on TV. Kaiser Goldstein, world renowned psychic, had the power to reunite the living with the dead. He had the power to speak to the dead and to let those who lost their loved ones that death is but another life in another plane. Kaiser was not biased to religion or doctrine. He tried to keep religion out of his studies, saying that the dead is in neither Heaven nor Hell. Though, even with this belief system, he was bound to have religious people after him. But she was not one of them. Victoria Swanson approached KG with a slight smile on her face. She wanted to know about her late aunt, whether or she was all right in the afterlife. If Kaiser could not tell her, then no one will. His powers were odd. He did not channel the dead through his body, like some of the so-called psychics did. He just pointed things out about them, things that the friend of family member would know. Kaiser had soft golden blond hair and his eyes were ruby brown, a unique color for a man from Eastern Europe. And his voice, it was tinged with a German accent. She pulled her red hair back and sighed.

“Excuse me, Mr. Goldstein,” she began.

“Oh, hullo,” he said. “May I help you?”

“I know you don’t give up front readings, but I need to know about my aunt,” Victoria said.

“Yes,” Kaiser began. “What about your aunt?”

“She died only a few weeks ago,” Victoria sighed. “She went peacefully.”

“If she only died a few weeks ago, I’m afraid that I won’t be able to sense her yet,” Kaiser began. “You see, death is like being born again. It’s disorienting at first and she needs time to remember where she is. Then, when she feels like it, she’ll be ready to make contact. I can’t force her to come forward. She will contact me. I’d give it a few months before she is ready.”

Victoria felt a sob reach up and grab her throat. A tear trickled down her cheek.

“Now, don’t cry,” Kaiser said comfortingly. “Just because I can’t sense her now, doesn’t mean I won’t later.”

“Thank you, Mr. Goldstein,” she sniffed. “I’m sorry to bother you.”

She turned away from him and began to walk slowly away.

“Wait, Miss,” Kaiser called. “What is your name?”

“Victoria Swanson,” she said, sighing gravely. “But everyone calls me Vickie.”

“Vickie,” Kaiser smiled. “You will be alright. I assure you. I am most sorry for you loss. Good bye.”

He turned around and went back to rejoin his agent. Kaiser sighed as he looked back to see Victoria walk away. Then, he sensed something from her. He could not really understand what he was sensing. Like a flash, he saw her screaming loudly as a building fell over her. A familiar sound, a monstrous roar and a winged shadow enveloped her. Kaiser shook his head and ran after her.

“Wait, Miss Swanson!” he cried. Vickie turned around.

    “What is it?”

“Wait,” Kaiser hefted as he slowed down to her. “Could I interest you in a cup of coffee?”

“Yes,” she began with some uncertainty. “But why?”

“Oh, perhaps I might sense your aunt while we are together,” Kaiser held out his hand. Victoria smiled and took it.

Kaiser hungrily poured the chocolate syrup into his cup of coffee. Victoria could not help but laugh. She did not know that he had a huge sweet tooth.

“My, that’s the 5th coffee with all that chocolate you had, Kaiser,” she laughed.

“Well, I like my sweets,” Kaiser smiled. “And I’m uh, diabetic.”

    “What type?” she asked.

“Uh, the bad type,” he replied.

“Okay,” Vickie nodded. “So, what made you want to use your gifts to reunite people with the dead?”

“Well, I want people to know that though they have lost their loved ones in this life, but they had not truly lost them,” Kaiser began. “Its hard to say. I mean I try to help people get passed that point in their lives where they question death and perhaps doing this might do that. It gives the living some comfort that there is hope in life after death, that they will be joined with their loved ones when they die.”

“Comforting,” she began. “Yet creepy. I’m sorry it just sounds strange. Why are you so fascinated with life after death?”

KG cleared his throat. She touched something in his heart and a memory of his deeds long passed. He tried to forget his other life as much as he could. Only the dead can comfort him. He sipped at his sugared brew and tried to shut that part of his life out. He was not creature anymore, he was a new man now. He was a man now. Nothing of that old life can disturb him, no ghosts of the past can keep him from his new life. Kaiser looked at Victoria and smiled.

“One time, you would have thought me a monster,” he began. “I did very horrible things in my past. So, now I am trying to live the rest of my life truthfully and when I die, I will know that I went with an empty slate, and a clear conscience.”

“Not many know of your past,” she said. “They only know what they see on the screen.”

“And that is what I want them to see,” Kaiser smiled. He sipped again at his coffee.
Kaiser’s ears perked up in shock when he heard a sound echo outside. The sound was monstrous. A shadow swiftly flew over the café window, catching Kaiser’s attention. He heard people scream loudly as the shadow circled. Heat irrupted from the sky blasting the nearby buildings and engulfing them in inferno. Kaiser and Victoria ran outside to see what it was. Kaiser’s eyes opened wide with shock, fear and recognition. A reptile with wings, few over the towering skyscrapers—a pteranodon. The reptilian bird flew gracefully over the city, igniting the tops of the buildings with its heat ray.

    “Rodan!” cried Kaiser. “That’s Rodan!”

“Rodan?” Victoria asked. “This is New York, not Tokyo. I thought those creatures only attacked Japan.”

Kaiser growled and shook his head. He grabbed her tightly as they began to run down a dark alley. Kaiser’s memories came back, thrusting themselves into his mind. It was the screaming and the explosion. He could not relive those memories again. Rodan fired again sending a wave of debris down into the alley. Glass scraped and cut into Kaiser’s face. He leaned Victoria over, trying to shield her from the dangerous cloud of glass and dust. Rodan circled the alley, squawking loudly. Victoria looked up, her eyes wide as she saw the massive reptile’s shadow fall over her.

“What does that thing want?” she squeaked.

“Quiet!” Kaiser hissed as he covered her mouth. Rodan’s neck arched back and his mouth dropped. Once more, another wave of fire race from his jaws, this time down into the alley itself. Kaiser braced himself for the blast, covering Vickie’s body protectively. The fire hit his back, singing his golden hair. Kaiser burned, crying out in pain from the heat.

    “Ghidorah…”
Kaiser heard Rodan squawk. He could understand the monster’s call. He was the only one there that could. “Ghidorah…come out!”

“Go away, you pesky turkey!” Kaiser roared loudly. “Leave me alone!”

King Ghidorah, come out and play…

Kaiser shook his head and screamed, his eyes glowing wildly. Like a push on his psyche, he sent a wave of thought racing towards Rodan. The pteranodon squawked in pain, quickly falling out of the sky. His wings flailed madly, trying to pull himself out of the deathly plummet. His shadow disappeared from Kaiser’s sight. Kaiser sighed and grimaced for a moment. He leaned back, making sure Victoria was all right.

“You saved my life, Mr. Goldstein,” she breathed as she wiped the tears from her eyes. “But why did that thing come here? This is New York.”

“In 1969, all the monsters of the world attacked every major city,” Kaiser began. “The Kailax controlled the monsters’ movements. New York was one of those cities. Godzilla destroyed it, you know. So, what? You think Japan is the only thing that gets hit by these creatures?”

He gripped his back, feeling the burning sensation ride up to his neck.

“You’re burned!” Victoria called. “And you’re face is all cut up. You need a doctor.”

“I know what I need right now, more than you do,” Kaiser began. “I’ve survived worse. I’m sorry for the disruption.”

“Its okay,” she said. “Maybe next time. But right now you to go to the hospital.”

“I’ll call you,” Kaiser smiled and winked at her. He got up and ran away from her, disappearing around the corner and into the darkness.

“Kaiser!” Victoria cried. The next thing she felt was a gush of wind and a dark shadow fly over her. Her mind began to believe that Rodan had returned. She knelt down, quivering in fear. Then, she heard a sound, a call that rang loudly like a bell. Three voices sang out loudly. They sounded beastly and alien and yet beautiful. A flash of gold streaked across the sky. Victoria shook her head as the gold flash disappeared into the sun. The voices faded away.

“What the hell was that?” she breathed. Victoria got up and dusted herself off.

Kaiser sat down on his bed. He smiled and began to laugh. Rodan came for him.

“After all these years, they are looking for me,” Kaiser laughed. “How did they know that I was alive? How interesting. But I will not let my past ruin my future. I am not that creature anymore. I am a famous man.”

He let his mind drift off into slumber. Kaiser sighed, thinking about the day’s events. He had hoped that his past would not catch up to him. His mind went to Victoria. For the first time, someone actually worried about his health. She was beautiful, more beautiful than anything he had ever witnessed. Her hair was like fire, and she was a fire in his heart. Kaiser smiled for a moment when he thought of her. He began to concentrate on her request, trying to find in the dark recesses of the Void for her late aunt. He had hoped that the next time he saw her he could tell her something. But unfortunately, he sensed no sign or energy from it. Only, the souls of the dead swam in the murky darkness, but none sensed or recognized Vickie’s name. Kaiser felt a strain on his mind and he quickly went to unconscious.

King Ghidorah, I come for you!

Kaiser awoke in a cold sweat. He heard the sound of the telephone ring, on the side of his bed. Kaiser yawned and reached over to answer the phone. His answer was not what he expected to come from his mouth. It sounded alien. He chimed the call like a bell. Kaiser shook his head.

“Kaiser?” called the voice on the other line.

Kaiser cleared his voice: “Tom, is that you? Sorry about that, I had the TV set too loud.”

“Are you watching a Godzilla movie again?”

“Uh, Ja! King Kong deben Godzilla,” Kaiser replied in German. “Wundervoll, ja?”

“Knock off the German, you know I can’t understand you when you speken se Duetch.”

“I meant to say I was watching Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla,” Kaiser corrected himself. “It’s a good movie.”

“Sounded like King Kong vs. Godzilla.

“Nien. We just call it that,” he said. “Why you call? It’s early. You’re usually not up before noon.”

“Because I was awaken by a call from the studio heads, Kaiser,” Tom sighed. “Remember that attack by Rodan?”

“Ja, I do,” Kaiser began, not liking where this was going.

“Well, that damned buzzard wrecked the studio!” Tom screamed into the phone.

“Vhat?!” Kaiser let his accent go in his surprise. “He vhecked the shtudio? Damnit. Vhat are ve to do? I’m supposed to do a show today. Vith out no shtudio, I have nothink!”

“Calm down, Kaiser,” Tom began. “Don’t get too excited. When you do, you’re W’s sound like V’s.”

“Sorry,” he sighed. “Well. What now?”

“I’m working on it,” Tom began. “We may have to rent another studio. For some strange reason, he only wrecked our studio. He left the other ones alone.”

    “That est shtrange…”

“Dude, accent!” called Tom. “We’ve got the money, we can just rent. It’s that simple. At least until we fix the one that Rodan destroyed. I’m just trying to figure out why he’d want to wreck ours an not the other studios.”

“I look into it later,” Kaiser sighed. “I’m worried about the show. What studio did we rent?”

“I haven’t signed the papers, but its Studio D,” Tom replied.

“You got the stadium?” Kaiser smiled excitedly. “I’m impressed. How much did you shell out?”

“They said it would boost their ratings to have the ‘Sooth Sayer’ on their program,” Tom laughed. “We’ll shoot Over the Brink with KG in the studio. But hurry, we’re starting to fill up.”

“I’ll be over soon,” Kaiser nodded. “See you when I get there. Good bye.”

“Yo, Kaiser, don’t take the Tunnel,” began Tom. “And forget the street. After Rodan’s little visit, everything’s blocked from here to Jersey.”

“Ah, sheet,” he sighed. “I’ll figure a way to get there.”

Kaiser hung up the phone and laid back on his bed. He sighed for a moment and closed his eyes.

“Vhat am I goink to do now?” he asked himself aloud. “Dis must be the vork of Deedra. She’s tryink to ruin me. It von’t vork. Money means nothing to me. One time, I had none. Zo, I may be broke again. So vhat! I shtill have my freedom of mind.”

He calmed his mind down. KG grabbed his clothes and quickly put them on. He tried to forget his visions of Deedra and concentrated on getting to work.

Kaiser quickly ran down the street. He glanced over to the side, noticing the pile up of cars on the street. The lanes filled with the blaring noises of furious horns from irate drivers. The attack on New York made by the monster Rodan disrupted not only everyone’s day, but also their patience as well. Kaiser shook his head. He smiled for a moment, realizing how the other end of a monster attack now felt like. Kaiser could not help but laugh at the odd feeling of it. At one time, he was on the monster’s side of an attack, now he was on the human end of an attack.

“This could take some getting use to,” Kaiser murmured under his breath. He continued to run down the side walk, trying to mind the other pedestrians along the way. Kaiser tried to weave quickly through the maze of people who flocked over to a toppled building. He slowed down for a moment, trying to see what was grabbing their attention. Kaiser finally saw what caused the congested pileup on the street. An apartment complex crumbled over the street, casting stones and bricks into the pavement. Firefighters and medical teams were still working in the scene, trying to get people out of the building. The apartment complex had toppled other buildings as well. Kaiser shook his head. Rodan was after him. He could have stopped this by facing the enormous reptilian bird. KG sighed. He had grown soft over the years. He grew a heart. Kaiser shook it off and forced his mind to get back on task. Kaiser began to run for the studio. His mind turned back to Rodan for a moment. Though, with the thought of Rodan, he was not watching where he was going. Suddenly, Kaiser fell over, colliding with something fiery red. His gold hair fell into his eyes as he fell to the sidewalk. Kaiser glanced up to see the face of who he bumped into.

“Mr. Goldstien!” called a familiar voice.

“Vickie?” he asked. “Vickie? I’m sorry. I should have been watching where I was going.”

“I’m alright,” she said. “But you, look at you! Your cuts, they’re all gone.”

“I told you I knew what was really best for me,” Kaiser smiled as he got up.

“You’re a strange man, Kaiser,” smiled Vickie.

“I’m sorry, I don’t have time to talk,” he said. “I’m sorry, I’m late. I have to get to the studio.”

“I was just heading over there,” she said. “I have a client who wants to press some charges on the construction of Floor 8 of the building your studio is located in.”

    “Charges?” he asked.

“Yes, you know for a psychic, you’re not very good at it,” she laughed. “Didn’t you know, I’m a lawyer.”

“Oh, so you’re more of a reptile than Rodan, huh?” Kaiser grinned.

“Hah!” she snorted. “Well, are you coming with me?”

Kaiser smiled and nodded, he took her hand and they began to run for his building.

“What sort of charges are you pressing?” he asked.

“Asbestos charges,” she replied. “There is some asbestos giving problems to the health of some of the cleaning crew. Floor 8 is storage. They cleaned out the asbestos in the main floors like the studio where you work, but not Floor 8. They’re suffering from mesophelioma, the illness caused by asbestos, and they want to sue some of the managers who own that building. The settlement is pretty costly.”

“And I’m sure you’ll get a certain amount of percentage from the settlement,” Kaiser chuckled.

“That’s what I’m hoping for,” Vickie laughed. “I’ve got a 30 percent cut if we win the suet.”

“And you wonder why I called you a reptile?” he asked.

“I saw your building,” she said. “The floor that was completely obliterated, that was your floor, right?”

    “Yes,” Kaiser nodded.

“Why would Rodan just destroy your studio? And why are you still holding a session in the building?”

“We’re not,” he said. “We’re holding it in a building about a block from our studio. It wasn’t hit. That manager owns more buildings than just our studio.”

“I wouldn’t mind sitting in on a show again,” Vickie smiled. “You are so talented. Its hard to believe that you can talk to the dead.”

“It is a gift and a curse, I suppose,” Kaiser sighed.

“Well, is that all you can use your psychic powers for?” she asked.

“One time, I used them to control people,” Kaiser sighed with some sadness in his words. “I—I was—controlled by another to harm people. When I broke free, you might say cruel fate stepped in and made it to where I only see the victims of my atrocities. Then, I refined it. I wanted to be able to give people closure for their losses. That’s what this is all about, its what matters to me now.”

    “That’s sad,” Vickie said.

“I cannot have forgiveness, but I will have peace of mind,” he smiled weakly. “That monster who terrorized people died that day, only to be reborn as the man you see now.”

“And what was this monster’s name?” she grinned playfully.

“King Ghi…” Kaiser broke off. He caught himself. Another sound broke his thoughts. It was familiar, too familiar for his comfort. KG glanced behind his shoulders, his eyes were wide. “No, it can’t be!”

“What the hell was that?” Vickie cried.

A gargantuan roach with a spire on its head and spinning drills for claws toppled the low buildings behind Kaiser. He grabbed Victoria and shielded her from the dust and debris.

    “What is that giant bug?”

“You don’t recognize Megalon when you see him?” Kaiser asked.

“I don’t keep up with the world’s monsters, Kaiser,” she said. “That’s Megalon?”

    “Yes!” Kaiser cried. “Come on!”

He began to lead her down the side walk. Kaiser reached for his cell phone and speed dialed for his manager Tom Murdock.

    “Hello, Tom?” he began.

“Kaiser, where the hell are you?” Tom demanded. “The show’s gonna start in a few minutes.”

“Look out the east window, you’ll see why I’m late,” Kaiser said. He knew the answer.

“Holy Christ!” Tom screamed. “Is that what I think that is?”

“Yah!” he said. “It is. Listen, get everybody out of the studio immediately. Forget the show, just evacuate.”

“Man, this is nuts,” Tom said. “What are these monsters doing here? This ain’t Tokyo!”

“Damnit, don’t you know your history?” Kaiser roared into the phone. “Remember the Kailax?”

“What? Those metal women?” he asked. “The ones who sicked King Ghidorah on every monster in Ogasawara Island? If you ask me that was the major idiotic stunt of the decade. Doesn’t matter how strong that three-headed excuse for a space monster is. He could not take them all down.”

Kaiser snorted. He almost felt offended by Tom’s remark on King Ghidorah.

“Well before they did that, they controlled all the monsters on Monster Island,” Kaiser called. “And they used them to attack major cities around the world. Godzilla actually came here and tore the place apart.”

“You sound like you remember the detailing,” said Victoria. “Like you were there.”

    “I was,” he said.

“Yeah right,” Tom said. “You were born in ’66. I doubt you would remember a thing from all that. Besides, Germany was not one of the countries on the hit list.”

“It seems like every time I see you,” began Vickie. “Some monster attacks.”

    “You only saw me once.”

“Yeah, and Rodan attacked,” she said.

Megalon turned towards the fleeing humans. His eyes spied his target.

“King Ghidorah, I come for you!”
Kaiser heard the monster say. The words were for him and no one else. Kaiser screamed for a moment and slowed down his running. He glanced back at Megalon. Megalon’s beam weapon irrupted from his star tipped horn, racing passed Kaiser’s head and exploding behind him. Kaiser grunted and glanced at Megalon fiercely. Victoria pulled her red hair from her eyes.

“Kaiser, get out of there!” cried Tom over the phone. “I heard that explosion.”

    “Kaiser!” cried Victoria. “Let’s go!”

“You go,” he said. “I’ll be alright.”

    “Are you insane?” she cried.

“Yes, that’s exactly what I am!” he laughed.

Another voice joined Megalon’s destruction. Kaiser turned towards the voice as a beaked monster with sharp scythes on the tip of its forearms stepped forward. It was gold and green, with a strange buzz saw set in the center of its chest. It looked like a Cyclops, the eye glowed red with power.

“King Ghidorah, I come for you!”
    the monster careened.

    “Gigan!” Kaiser cried.

“Two monsters?” Victoria cried. “Kaiser, I don’t want to stay here. I want to go, now!”

She tugged on his arm with all her strength. Kaiser’s eyes were fixed on the two monsters.

“Closure,” Kaiser sighed. “So this is what you want, Gigan. Closure?”

“Closure?” Vickie asked. “We’re about to get stomped. Those things are heading our way.”

    “Closure…”
    Kaiser heard the wind whisper.

“What a reunion!” he laughed. “But I’ve got another life. You’re disturbing it.”

    “Then forgive my intrusion,”
Gigan replied. “But this needs to be settled. You and I have a score.”

“Ve have nothink!” Kaiser cried, his accent becoming dominant again. “Vhat ever ve had, eez vater under bridge! You know, I know, the cockroaches know especially. And you let Angilus sling at me back first, you pathetic cyborg!”

    “Closure…”

“You vill get none,” Kaiser called. “Dis I make promise. Now leave me alone! I have life to live, new life. Go back to space vhere you belong. Don’t come to my planet again.”

    “You’re not of this world…”

    “Leave me!”

“Who are you talking to?” Vickie asked.

“Eh, Tom?” Kaiser smiled, pointing to the cell phone.

“No you’re not,” Tom roared. “You’re starting to scare me, Kaiser.”

Kaiser glanced back at Gigan and Megalon, they stopped before him. Kaiser stepped back. Victoria grabbed his shoulders and braced herself against his back.

“I’ll give you 100 dollars, Vickie,” he began. “For cab fare. To get as far away from here as you can.”

“But what about you?” she asked.

“Don’t vorry about me,” Kaiser said. “I find a way and I’ll find you. Now, please, go!”

He slipped her the money and she bolted down the sidewalk, joining the other fleeing people as they ran from the two monsters. She did not look back and she feared for Kaiser’s safety. Tears streamed down her eyes, blurring her vision as she ran. She kept running, commanding her legs to swiftly carry her to safety. Her muscles began to ache, but she pressed them onwards. She had to look back. She heard Kaiser’s voice, his German accent was dominant over the crowd. In fact, it was dominant over everything. His voice boomed loudly as he mocked the other two monsters. She had to look back and she did. Her eyes were wide when she glanced behind her. A golden haired man did not stand in the spot she left, but an enormous dragon stood in his place. Three heads topped the lengthy sinuous necks of the dragon. Its wings were folded to its sides and twin tails trailed behind it. Each head bore three horns, two long crooked horns and a central crescent moon shaped horn. The center head’s outer horns were branched majestically like the antlers of an elk, baring 4 points on each horn. Each head was covered in long golden, shaggy manes, the same color as Kaiser’s hair. The dragon was covered in a pelt of triangular shaped glistening, clean golden scales. The scales radiated the sun light that danced across them, adding a majestic holy gleam to the dragon’s stately look. The dragon was nearly 5 times larger than the other two monsters. Something did not seem right. Victoria knelt down, breathing erratically. She fell to her knees, tears streaming down her eyes.

“KG?” she asked. “Kaiser Goldstein? No, King Ghidorah.”

She heard Kaiser’s Eastern European accented voice emanating from the majestic beast: “You vant closure? Zhen, here it be…”

The dragon—King Ghidorah (Kaiser?) spread his enormous wings and launched himself into the air. Gigan began to follow his moves, fanning his fins out, until a barbed tail wrapped around his neck. King Ghidorah chuckled, sneering at the flailing monster. Gigan tried to hook one of his sickles around the dragon’s attacking tail. King Ghidorah’s ruby red eyes narrowed, as his central head’s forked tongue licked its lips. He pulled tighter around Gigan’s neck, cutting off his air. Megalon jumped up to tackle the dragon, thrusting one of his drill arms towards Ghidorah. King Ghidorah swung heads over heels, throwing Gigan at Megalon with one of his tails. The two collided with each other, then collided with a near by building. He quickly recaptured his flight, back winging to gain more altitude. It was an easy toss, Gigan seemed a lot smaller than the last time King Ghidorah saw him. The dragon could not help but to take some notice as to how much he had grown in the last few decades. Both monsters seemed rather smaller than he remembered. King Ghidorah glanced towards the two monsters, his eyes widened for a moment.

“I had to send them crashing into my favorite drug store,” he sighed.

King Ghidorah landed and approached the two monsters carefully, watching where he stepped. It was the first time he did so.

“Look, you two drekkops,” King Ghidorah began. “Play time over. You vecked Downtown last time. I vant nothink for you and from you. Now get out!”

    “Score…”

“Nein!” he called. “Nein!” The next sentence was a little in audible. King Ghidorah was cursing them in a mixture of Germen and Yiddish. “Dershtikt zolstu veren! Drai mir nit kain kop. Und take that to your master as vell! I quit!”

    “We will return…”
breathed Gigan. Megalon and Gigan disappeared.

“Kaiser!” cried a voice from the streets. King Ghidorah glance down and his tail picked up a bashed up cell phone. He held the phone up to his central head’s ear.

    “Guten Tog?” he asked.

“Kaiser, those monsters disappeared but I think you’d want to get out of there,” began Tom.

“Ja? Vhy?” King Ghidorah asked innocently.

“King Ghidorah is there!” Tom cried.

King Ghidorah let loose a sigh, watching the two monsters leave. He snapped the two dexterous digits of his wings, reverting back to his human form.

“Good idea,” said Kaiser, holding the phone up with his hand. “But you might want to look again, I think King Ghidorah left. I just hope I can get a new phone. Vait, ve have lunch and some coffee.”

“How can you think of coffee at a time like this, KG?”

“I need sugar,” Kaiser chucked. “I’m diabetic, remember?”

“Damnit, Kaiser, don’t you take insulin?” Tom roared.

“It’s not that type of diabetes,” he said.

“I’d have your doctor take another look at you,” Tom began. “That’s all you eat is sugar, chocolate, candy bars, and lots of caffeine. That’s not healthy.”

“I’m not worried about that, Tom,” KG sighed. “I just hope that Victoria took the cab out of this place.”

He felt someone take the phone out of his hand. KG turned around and his eyes widened. Victoria stood before him with tear stained cheeks and reddened eyes. Her lip trembled and quivered.

“You needn’t worry,” she said. “I never left and I saw the whole thing. A monster huh? You were once a monster? I’d say you’re still a monster.”

“Vickie, I can explain,” Kaiser sighed.

“What’s going on?” asked Tom over the phone. “Okay, I’m heading down there! I’ll see you in a bit, Kaiser.”

The phone clicked off. Vickie dropped it back on to the street.

“Well, I was going to get a new one anyway,” Kaiser shrugged. Vickie shoved the hundred dollars to his chest.

“Here, I didn’t spend it,” her voice quivered. “Thanks anyway, King Ghidorah.”

“You saw?” he asked. “You saw me change?”

“No, but I saw the product,” she sighed. “One moment I saw a man who looked he was about to be stepped on by two giant monsters, the next I saw was a three-headed golden dragon towering…literally towering over them.” She gestured with her hands the size of the beast. “And all I had to do was put two and two together. So, that’s why you have ESP. You’re King Ghidorah. And that’s why those monsters were after you.”

KG gripped her arm for a moment, leading her away from the middle of the street. He lead her into a back alley. Kaiser sighed for a moment, lowering himself to the pavement. He placed his hands together, draping them over his knees. He looked up at her for a moment, trying to find the words to say.

“Vickie, listen,” he began. “I’m trying to put my life back together. Too many years I lived and well did very bad things. So, I’m just trying to set things right.”

“Okay, I can understand that,” she nodded. “So, hiding out in a human form helps you do that? Is that why you want to ‘reunite’ the living with the dead? So that you can feel better about yourself? So you can find some peace of mind amongst all this? How ridiculous can you get?”

“Look, I asked for this life now,” Kaiser cried. “This is my choice!”

“I remember in 1998, you came back to Earth and attacked Japan,” began Vickie. “You kidnapped children, controlling them with your psychokinetic powers and fed from their essence when you got a hold of them. You fed off of the children, because their essence was the sweetest thing of all, because of their innocence. You are a disgusting creature.”

“And don’t think I’m not being punished for that,” Kaiser began. “Remember my diabetes? Well, I don’t really have that, I just say that because for evermore I have a bad sweet tooth and crave sugar constantly to compensate for the taste the essence of youth gave me.”

    “*******!” she cried.

“Look, I don’t ask for forgiveness,” he began. “I just want to be left in peace.”
“Good-bye, Kaiser,” she said as she turned away from him.

“Wait, Vickie, that’s not what I meant!”

Vickie shook her head as she ran from him, tears streaming down her face. He rushed after her watching her with an aching heart as she disappeared into the crowd. KG slowed down and glanced into his reflection the window of a building. He stared at it with resentment, watching the face shift and twist, becoming three golden dragon heads.

“King Ghidorah, you’ve ruined my life,” Kaiser growled at the reflection. “Now, you’ve ruined it for me again. How the hell am I suppose to get a date now? What mistake you’ve made, you will fix.”

He turned away from the reflection as it once more melted into a more human form. Kaiser pulled his jacket over his head and disappeared. A shadow flowed over the chaotic streets, spreading its wings wide. Everyone turned their heads to a sound, a bell call ring out and echoing off the tall skyscrapers. The shadow swooped over them, three heads searching. The gigantic form flapped its wings gracefully and slowed down, landing on top of the Chrysler Building. King Ghidorah, sat perched on top of the great spire, his heads roving slowly over the city skyline. His claws dug into the concrete and his wings fanned out slightly to give him balance. His twin tails wrapped tightly around the towering skyscraper. Each head pointed out into different directions scanning the roar of the crowd below. He searched with his ears, his eyes and, also his mind.

In my human form, my mental powers are dampened, only good for seeing ghosts. I can’t sense anything else, but in my full dragon form, I can hear the thoughts of everyone in the city and beyond,
King Ghidorah began mentally. I know what they know, and I can hear her thoughts. Victoria Swanson, I am sorry you had to find out about me. Please, I want to talk to you.

The dragon turned his heads slightly, roving over the skyline once more, watching for her movements. He did not know what possessed him to seek her out like this. He was thinking of her. King Ghidorah chuckled to himself. He began to realize how long he had been in human form. A decade had passed on this planet and he was amazed that he even remembered how to fly. Ten years, he had grown a human heart. The dragon sighed with some sadness. Humans were more powerful than he thought. He was amazed how they were able to handle at least most of the emotions they felt with some ease. Now this new emotion came to him when he thought about Vickie. He only had known her a couple of days, but he found himself growing fond of her. It was that human male instinct, that feeling of knowing that he had met the ‘right one’ for him—his exact perfect mate. King Ghidorah shook his central head, keeping the other two heads on the guard. What was he thinking? She was not a perfect match to him. She is human, and he is a space dragon. The ruby eyes on the central head crossed, trying to contemplate these thoughts and conflicting emotions.

    “Ick,” he snorted. “Too confusing.”

Though, he continued his search for her. A familiar voice interrupted his thoughts and his search.

“Kaiser!” cried the voice. “I found your cell phone. It looks all hacked to pieces!”

    Tom?
King Ghidorah thought. Damn-it, I forgot he was heading over here.

“Kaiser!” Tom cried. “Come on, man! We need to get out of here, I heard on the reports that King Ghidorah is still in the vicinity.”

“Oh, you think?” King Ghidorah replied with some sarcasm. “Where? I don’t see him.”

“Kaiser, where the hell are you?” Tom cried. “I don’t want to be here when that three headed monster comes back. Kaiser?”

“Here we go…” King Ghidorah sighed. He leaned all three heads down. “If you yell any louder, human, that three headed monster just might hear you!”

Tom glanced up, recognizing the voice. He glanced over to the Chrysler Building, expecting to find the dragon perched atop it. The building was empty. A hand tapped his shoulders. Tom quickly turned around, his eyes meeting the rusty red brown eyes of Kaiser. KG crossed his arms.

“I was waiting for you,” he said. “But you no show, so, I went into café.”

“Where the hell did King Ghidorah go?” Tom asked. “For a strange moment I thought I heard your voice coming from him. And he was on the Chrysler Building!”

“Where?” Kaiser asked, looking up at the building. “I don’t see him.”

“He was there a minute ago,” Tom began. “Oh well, he might have flown off. I heard he could fly really fast.” He lifted the cell phone up to Kaiser. “I found this.”

“I know, I need a new one,” Kaiser sighed.

“Where’s you lady friend?” he asked.

“Ran off,” Kaiser shook his head in dismay.

“Sorry, man,” Tom began as he placed a hand on Kaiser’s shoulder. “You know, I was almost hoping that you’ve found someone. I mean, ever since we’ve met, I’ve noticed that you have not gone out with any girl that came you way. And I really wondered about you, Kaiser, about your choices.”

“Vhat?” Kaiser cried shaking his hand away. “You think I’m sort of ferie?”

    “No, Kaiser,” Tom laughed.

“You did!” KG roared. “I can’t believe it! Every American thinks that most of us German men are feries. Just because of Sigfried and Roy! Well, I assure you, I am not gay. If she hadn’t ran off, I would have gone out with her.”

    “I’m sorry,” Tom began.

“I was waiting for the right one,” Kaiser sighed. “I thought I found it in Victoria.”

    “Why did she run off?”

“Because I shared with her a little secret of mine,” Kaiser shrugged. “She didn’t except it.”

“Don’t worry, man, its not the size that counts, its how you use it,” Tom smiled.

Kaiser’s eyes widened and he glanced back at Tom.

“You’re an idiot!” Kaiser cried. “That’s not the secret! I am very confident in my equipment!”

“What were you talking about?” he asked.

“Why should I tell you?” Kaiser asked. “You’re twisting everything I say.”

“I’m just trying to help,” Tom said.

“First you thought I was queer, now you think that I’ve got a small…” Kaiser shook his head for a second. “Trust me, this is not for you to know.”

    “What, it doesn’t work right?”

“Just stick to managing my show and leave my personal descriptions alone!”

“I’m just making a suggestion. You want your love life to be exciting, right?” Tom asked, smiling.

“Look, keep out of my personal life,” Kaiser growled as he poked Tom with an angry finger. “I was trying to find her.”

“I didn’t see her,” he shrugged. “Come on, Kaiser. Gigan and Megalon wrecked a lot more than just the street you were standing on. I’m just trying to figure out why Ghidorah didn’t do as much damage.”

“Looked like he was trying to save the city, rather than destroy it,” Kaiser smiled.

“Yah? That’s totally out of character for him,” Tom chuckled. “Isn’t he the one who does the damage and Godzilla comes and kicks his ass of our planet? So, why was Ghidorah trying to save the city?”

Kaiser shook his head: “Look, I’ll see you later at the Center Park Café. I need to go and think.”

“If you find your girlfriend, we can do a double date tonight,” Tom said with a grin. Kaiser ran from his sight, disappearing behind a corner and into the dark alley. Once more, an enormous shadow swooped over the city street. Tom glance up, his eyes wide. He backed away as he saw King Ghidorah perch himself once more on the Chrysler Building. The dragon’s heads rove around, searching again.

“Tell me, Kaiser, you don’t see that,” Tom breathed. “Because I do!”

One of the dragon’s heads stopped for a moment, peering down to look at him. Tom felt a knot of fear in his throat as he stared into the ruby gems of the golden dragon. Though, staring into the eyes, he felt some familiarity of the beast. The head turned away, continuing to search just like the other heads. Tom sighed and turned away, running down the street. King Ghidorah was just sitting on that building, and nothing more.

“Wonder what he was looking for,” Tom sighed as he head down the street.

Kaiser tugged on his noose tie and brushed off his blazer with a quick swipe from his hand. He gripped the bouquet of roses tightly in his other hand and tightened his arm around the heart shaped red box of chocolates. Sitting on the Chrysler Building earlier had indeed helped him in finding Victoria. He cleared his throat, practicing his apology to her for his actions earlier. Then, he said a little prayer, hoping if a god was listening, he or she would not allow anymore interruptions for the rest of the evening. He smoothed out his golden hair. He had to make himself presentable to her. KG grinned. He stepped up to her apartment door and rapped rhythmically on it.

“Coming,” came a voice from the other side. The door opened. A spark of red flashed into Kaiser’s eyes. His smile broadened. She poked her head out, her eyes wide.

“Victoria,” Kaiser began. He held out the roses to her. “These are for you.”

    “King Ghidorah?” Vickie asked.

“I wish you would not call me that,” he said. “At least in my human form. Its just Kaiser, or KG.”

“What do you want?” she asked with some disgust in her tone.

“I want to apologize for my actions today,” KG began. “I do not know how to express myself when it comes to human women. What I meant to say is that I want the monsters to leave me alone. But I want to see you.”

“Look, you’re a space dragon,” she said. “We’re not exactly compatible.”

“Not for long,” Kaiser began. “Soon, I will be completely human and undetectable by monsters.”

    “What?”

“May I come in? Please?” Kaiser asked. Vickie stood aside, gesturing for him to enter. Kaiser handed her the box of chocolates. Vickie took them and opened them up.

“What do you mean you’ll be completely human?” she asked.

“Well, maybe not completely,” sighed Kaiser. “But undetectable to those monsters. You see, I’ve been working on something called transmutation.”

    “What is that?”

“I’m reformatting my body,” Kaiser smiled. “What you saw is my full dragon form. But in about 80 years, that form will no longer exist. What will be in its place will be a form hybrid, about—oh—2 meters tall, with mostly human features, and a few reptilian features. Take another decade and that form will be completely human. King Ghidorah will not exist.”

“Why are you doing that to yourself then, Ghidorah?” she asked. “Why are you torturing your body like that?”

“I’m not, Vickie,” Kaiser began. “You see…perhaps I should start at the beginning.”

“May be you should,” she snorted.

“May I sit down?” he asked.

    “Sure, sit,” Vickie shrugged.

Kaiser sat down on her wide couch. He sighed for a moment and leaned his head back.

“Millions of years ago, I was the ruler of a planet filled with monsters,” Kaiser began. “Mostly draconic monsters…dragon like. I was their ruler. That’s why I am called King Ghidorah. I am a real king. Well, power became my one desire and my heart darkened. I became evil and I usurped the powers of my council. I absorbed them into my being and I grew more powerful. Soon, I had gained the power to destroy the planet itself. My foolishness destroyed my home world. So, I searched for other planets to conquer and destroy. My search for more power drove me into mental insanity. I was so power hungry that I would sell my services to anyone who would promise me great power in return. I became a whore, almost, thriving on the will of others to pay my way. This, I am not proud of. Soon, my mind broke down and I was nothing more than a tool for any conquering alien species that need a perfect weapon to dispatch on a planet. In 1963, I came to Earth, sent here by an alien race. That same alien race used me to destroy all life on Mars. My coming was forth told by a prophetess, in the guise of a princess.”

“I heard about that,” Victoria nodded. “She was a Middle Eastern princess, wasn’t she?”

“Yes,” Kaiser said. “She was. Well, after being defeated by Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra, I was captured by the Controller of Planet X. And again, I returned to your planet to destroy it, being controlled by the Controller. This time it was just Godzilla and Rodan who defeated me. I did not return until 1969, when the Kailax took control of me and well, again used me as a weapon to aid their planetary conquest on Earth. This time they had the other monsters under their control as well. They got free, but I was still within their grip. I was brutally defeated by every Monster Island resident. I disappeared underground for a while, to heal. During that time, I began to heal my mind from the years of control that had weakened it. In 1972, I broke free, but was quickly snatched up by the Nebulans who needed a liaison for their plans of ‘Perfect Peace.’ This time I was joined by Gigan. We attacked Japan and Godzilla, but the control was cut short and I mentally broke free of my captors. I stayed and fought Godzilla before flying away to lick my wounds. It was in space that I manage to heal the rest of my mind from the years of captivity and control. So, I wandered space, until I came across another alien race who needed an ace in their deck. I was captured. But this time, my captor gave me an interesting proposition. Her name was Queen Deedra. She took me into her care. She heard about my history and was intrigued by it. She gave me a proposition, marry her and I will receive the universe.”

    “Did you?” she asked.

“I did not,” he shook his head. “I had to prove myself first. She empowered me, infusing me with the magic of Life Force. My form grew, becoming the size it is now. My features changed of course, you saw the center head and its branch like horns, yes?”

    “I did,” Vickie said.

“That was only part of the transformation,” he continued. “With that, I gained nearly godlike power. And she gave me something else, my psychokinetic powers. Telepathy, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, sooth saying, teleportation, planar shifting, and even polymorphing, they were my gifts from her. Deedra sent me to Earth as well. She said that the powers needed feeding and that I must feast upon the life essence of all living creatures. She said that I would find the essence of children more alluring, because of their sweet taste and power boost. She said that she and I would be working side by side, capturing life force of all that lived on this planet. Earth was going to be the first, then the other plants of the universe would follow. She fed my dark heart. No one had ever done that. No captor had fed my dark heart like she did. She treated me as her equal. And, for the love of God, she loved me!”

Kaiser grimaced in horror of the thought of Deedra. He bent over, holding his head in his hands, weeping into them.

He struggled to continue his story: “I went back to Earth. The year was 1998. I came in all my glory and captured half the population of Japan. I set my sights on other countries as well, feasting on their essence in some sort of orgasmic frenzy. I never felt so hungry before.”

“Now I know about the sweets,” Vickie said. “Its your pacifier so that you won’t feed on our life force energies.”

“That and for some strange reason, they are a perfect substitute for life force essence,” Kaiser laughed. “It’s strange, I know, but they are a substitute. It’s the sugar inside. Even starch does wonders. I think it’s my chemical make up. Mine is so different than yours. My metabolism works differently. It turns the sugar into the essence energy I need to sustain my great power.” He sighed. “Well, Godzilla and Mothra came to the rescue this time. But they were met with a more powerful and much larger King Ghidorah. I literally ripped them apart, both mentally and physically. And they did not defeat me this time. Deedra wanted to reward me for my duties, but I saw another side of her. Using my telekinetic powers, I saw through her plans and betrayed her. She tried to control me, but I fought through her powers and her magic, and completely freed myself from her grasp. Though, her power nearly equaled mine and so I was left slightly weakened from the fight. I fell out of the sky and ended up in Eastern Germany. I hid myself from Deedra as best as I could. The first human language I learned was German. That’s why a space monster has a German accent. But something else was left with me. You see, when I learned how to make myself human, I found that I had more freedom on this planet as a human. I could wonder around undetected through your streets. That’s when I began to realize that the only way to become free is to become fully human. I don’t want these powers. But it left me with a mark. You see, in my dragon form, I have all my powers. But in human form, I have only one thing, the ability to see the dead. It’s a punishment. For all the killings I have done in the past, I must now be visited by the ghosts who were my victims. I refined that power, using the ability to help others find closure for loosing their loved ones to death. I drew strength from that. But I found that my human form was a little weaker than my dragon form. In my human form, I am as any human would be. A mere bullet can kill me, where as a million missiles tried to. I can get sick. I have in the past gotten sick of various diseases. I suffered a double dose of the chicken pox. I was once bitten by a viper in Florida and nearly died. Luckily Tom rushed me to the hospital for the anti venom. Though, I found that any wound I sustain in my human form is easily healed in my dragon form. When I was burned by Rodan, trying to protect you, I ran off to transform into my dragon form to heal myself. That’s why when you saw me earlier today, my wounds were completely healed.”

“But without your dragon form,” began Vickie. “When you completely become human, you won’t have that ability to heal yourself from lethal wounds like that.”

“If I am to die, I will die human,” Kaiser said. “That is my wish.”

“I still say you are torturing yourself,” she shook her head. “You should except things as they are.”

“Would you?” he asked. “King Ghidorah has caused so much pain for this poor planet. I merely wish to live in it and help those who I cause so much agony to feel closure. I don’t want this world to suffer anymore because of King Ghidorah.”
Vickie sat down beside him and held his hand: “When I saw you in your dragon form for the first time, I was afraid, but I heard your voice. Yah, it shocked me, but what I saw was not some horrible monster. With the sun gleaming of your scales, I saw the most beautiful creature stand before me, trying to save this town from those two monsters. I’m sure your actions have shocked everyone here. King Ghidorah had a change of attitudes.”

“You think I’m beautiful?” Kaiser asked, a little shocked.

“Yes, I did,” she said. “You’re very handsome for a three headed dragon.”
Kaiser reached over and took hold of the box of chocolates. He handed it to her with a smile.

    “Chocolate?” he asked.

“You and your sweet tooth, King Ghidorah,” Vickie laughed. “I’m sorry, I mean Kaiser.”

“No, that’s all right, you can call me King Ghidorah if you want,” he said. “I’ve now come to accept that name coming from you.”

“Ghidorah,” she giggled. “The planet’s first German space dragon.”

“German space dragon,” Kaiser laughed. “Ja, that too.”

She took a piece of chocolate and placed it slowly into her mouth. Kaiser watched, swallowing a lump that had just formed in his throat. He was trying hard to fight the urge not to kiss her. He swallowed again, feeling awkward as he watched her chew the piece of candy. Kaiser was loosing himself in her beauty. Victoria turned to him and smiled, winking at him. She took hold of his tie and drew him close to her. Kaiser felt her warm breath on his lips. His eyes grew wide as he felt his body move closer, taking hold of her slender figure into his arms.

“Kaiser…” Vickie breathed as he pressed his lips against hers. She closed her eyes, welcoming him into a passionate embrace.

Kaiser leaned her back against the cushion of the couch, welcoming her embrace. He lost himself to the kiss. Kaiser could not believe he was saving up for this moment when he had found himself someone to share his feelings with. He saw his future in the face of this human. His body glowed brightly, shifting. He was loosing himself, even control over his own magic. Victoria pulled away, feeling his weight increase on her body. She heard the sound of fabric ripping.

“Uh-oh,” she heard him rumble. Victoria opened her eyes, staring into the soft ruby glow of the central and dominant head of a human sized three-headed, golden dragon. She found her body wrapped up in his wings.

“You’re squishing me, Kaiser,” she grunted.

King Ghidorah pushed off of the couch with his wings and leaned back against the armrest. He closed his eyes, shaking his heads in regret. His shirt had become nothing more than tattered pieces hanging from his golden scales. He folded his broad wings around his body, trying to cover himself up as best as he could.

“Oh, God, I’m so sorry, Vickie,” he began. “At times of emotional stress, I loose my consentration…and well, this happens. You might say its like lycanthropy, I’m like a werewolf. I regret you realizing you were just kissing the lips of a dragon.”

“Actually I kind of liked it,” Vickie giggled. “Especially when right before you pulled away, you flickered you forked tongue on my lips.”

King Ghidorah looked away, feeling slightly embarrassed. He got off the couch, still trying to cover himself with his wings. The dragon backed away from her.

“I’ve got to go,” King Ghidorah said. “I’m sorry. I did not mean for this to happen. I wasn’t expecting myself to transform.”

“No, stay,” she insisted. “Please, I’m not one bit horrified, or uncomfortable.”

“I know,” he smiled slightly. “But I am. It’s strange, ja? That it would be the man not wanting to push the envelope…going to second base. But in this case, I can’t. I’m just not comfortable in this form around you. I’m not comfortable of you seeing me like this.”

“You still hate yourself in that form,” Vickie sighed. “Okay. I understand. You’re right, it is strange. It’s usually the girl who pulls away in this situation. But given the circumstances, perhaps you should go. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to see you again. Kaiser or King Ghidorah, I want to see you.”

King Ghidorah gripped the handle of the door with one of his tails and turned it, pushing it open with his back.

“Come to the studio tomorrow,” he said softly. “I’ll see you there.”

Vickie came close to him and pulled on King Ghidorah’s center head. Once more he felt her lips press against his. His tongue flickered slightly, grazing opening of her mouth gently. He pulled his head away, licking his lips like a cat, trying to gather as much of the taste of her lipstick as he could. He swallowed again and slowly backed away from the door.

“I’ll just say that I came from a costume party if anyone sees me like this,” he chuckled. “Good-bye, Victoria Swanson.”

    “Good-bye, King Ghidorah,” Vickie grinned.

King Ghidorah turned and walked away, slowly trotting down the hallway, his wings folded tightly to his side. He wrapped the two outer heads around the trunk of his central head’s neck, hooking them to the back of his shoulders so that they would not get in the way. The two wrapped heads closed their eyes and King Ghidorah began to focus his sight with his central head. His thoughts turned to Victoria again and he could not help but to smile. His form faded into the darkness of the street.

King Ghidorah sat perched on the Empire State Building, his twin tails coiled tightly around it. His wings fanned out, their golden membranes glistening in the street lighted city. He sat, perched majestically, looking over New York with his three pairs of ruby eyes. He knew that the recent monster attacks were caused by Deedra. He could sense that she was searching for him, or that she was trying to force him to reveal himself and come to her. He had finally revealed himself, but he was not going to come to her. He was not going to be someone’s lackey for world domination again. This time, the Earth held people he cared about. King Ghidorah did not want to see them hurt in any way. He thought about Vickie for a moment and made a vow. King Ghidorah swore to himself to become something that was not in his character to do, become a protector. He had a reason to protect this city. He knew there was no innocence in this crowded town, but they did not deserve to die by the attacks of monsters. If they were to die, then let them die through their own means and not Deedra’s. He sat there, silently watching over the city and waiting for the next monster to come for him. He had a reason to protect it, and he reminded himself of that reason.

200 Miles in Space on the Shuttle Destiny

He felt the jolt of the shuttle as it entered the Earth’s atmosphere. He fought against the controls to try and keep the nose level. He could feel the hull break apart, and he feared that they would not make it to the landing. He prayed that they would make it to the landing so that he could see his wife and child again.

“Captain,” began his lieutenant began. “The tiles on the plane, they’re coming off!”

“Keep it together, folks,” he ordered. He looked back at the lieutenant. She shook her head. “It’s alright to be afraid. Fear is what keeps us on task. We need a little fear to know a little courage.”

    “Destiny,”
called the Houston controller. “We’ve got the landing lights on.”

“Our plane is badly damaged,” called the captain. “I’m afraid that we’ll break up upon entry of the atmosphere. And our fuel tanks are becoming overheated. We’ll explode. Just tell my wife and son that I love them.”

The shuttle jolted again, this time to a complete stop. Golden lights danced playfully across the windshield of the shuttle. The captain glanced out, hearing a melodic sound come from outside the shuttle. They were no longer on fire, the red hot flames did not burn them.

“Captain!” cried the lieutenant. “Something’s got us!”

    “What?!” he cried.

“We’re not moving,” she glanced at the instruments. “We’ve stopped completely. Something grabbed us.”

Relax, began a deep voice in their minds. Relax and sit back. Today is not your day to die.

The captain leaned back and began to breath deeply.

    Turn off your engines,
Captain, the voice commanded sincerely. To avoid explosion.

The captain leaned over and shut the engines down, upon command of the voice. He did not know why he was following a disembodied voice’s orders. The voice was controlling his movements.

“Captain,” she began. “Why did you shut the engines down?”

“Because the voice ordered me to,” he breathed. “So I did.”

A shadow passed over them as they felt their craft began to move again. They were slowly descending down through the atmosphere. The lieutenant glanced up through the windows, her eyes were wide. She saw three draconic, golden heads atop of three lengthy necks. Broad bat-like wings slowly flapped as the creature descended towards the planet.

“Sir!” she cried. “There’s a monster that’s got us! I know that monster.”

    “What monster?” he asked.

“Out there,” she pointed. “It’s King Ghidorah!”

“King Ghidorah!?” he cried. “The space dragon? He’s saving us? Or is he saving us to eat us?”

Saving you so that you may see your wife and son, Captain Norman, the voice replied deeply. So that you may live to see another day.

Norman looked up at the dragon and then towards the ground. He could not see the city of Houston slowly come closer to him. He glanced around the plane. It was suspended in a shimmering golden bubble of electric energy, protecting it from the heated friction of the Earth’s atmosphere. The protective casing was projected straight from the three-headed dragon’s wings. He reached over to the radio, trying to make contact with ground control. The radio only gave static.

    I am deeply sorry, Captain,
the strange accented voice began. But I’m afraid that the protective shield around your shuttle is blocking all radio contact between you and Houston. The shield is for your protection and nothing else.

“So, it’s the effect of the shielding,” he sighed. “That’s why we can’t contact Houston.”

You are nearing the landing site,
the voice informed. Put your landing gear down, Captain.

Again, the captain followed the orders of the ethereal voice. He slowly began to realize that the voice was coming from King Ghidorah himself. He had heard that the great King of Terror could speak with telepathy. The voice of the golden dragon was accented slightly, with the accent of a man from Eastern Europe. The runway came into view. Norman lowered the landing gear as he felt the shuttle’s tires fold out from underneath the fuselage. Within minutes he felt the tires touch pavement. The shuttle rocked softly as it landed, applying its full weight onto the tires.

    Come out,
King Ghidorah commanded. They have put the fire shoot up to your door. They are worried.

Norman led his crew out of the shuttle door, finding the fire soot ready for them to slide down on. There was a shadow above him, and he glanced up. His eyes spied the great form of King Ghidorah, floating motionlessly above the shuttle. The central head lowered down, cocking sideways to watch as several medical personnel and guards rushed out to catch them. Fire trucks and foam sprayers gathered around the shuttle. Strange, they were more concerned about the crew of the Destiny than the enormous monster that hung suspended above them. It did not seem right that they were more concerned with the safety of the astronauts and not the dragon. He began to realize that perhaps it was because of King Ghidorah’s mental abilities. They were under his control. The great dragon did not want any disturbances, his concerns were for the astronauts. Why would the universe’s most evil monster be concerned with astronauts and their safety?

    Hop down, Norman,
the King of Terror ordered. It is not wise to worry them so.

Without any questions to the dragon, Captain Norman slid down the shoot along with his lieutenant and the other astronauts. King Ghidorah remained suspended above them.

“Welcome back, Captain Norman!” cried one of the guards. “Someone up there must like you.”

“Do you not see the huge dragon in the sky?” he asked, pointing up at King Ghidorah. “I don’t know why or how, but that thing saved me.”

The guard glanced up and then stared back at Norman.

“Strange isn’t it?” he asked. “We got this mental signal from him. He said that he was going to save you. We can’t argue with a monster we can’t stop, can we?”

Norman glanced up at King Ghidorah.

    “Why?” he asked.

    Ich kann nicht diesem glauben,
the dragon spat with his mental voice. Norman was shocked, King Ghidorah had spoken in German. You would question your savior? I believe you Americans have a saying: “Don’t look at the gift horse in the mouth.”

The great golden dragon rolled over in mid air, his back facing the humans below him. His central head snaked down towards Norman. The astronaut stepped back, as the golden muzzle came close to his face. King Ghidorah’s forked tongue flickered out and grazed his top lip.

But if you want to know why,
Ghidorah began, his mental voice tickled the inside of Norman’s mind. I want your kind to trust me.

The dragon flipped himself back over again and began to ascend to the sky.

I’ll be watching for my face in the news,
he rumbled. See you in the papers.

Norman watched as King Ghidorah slowly disappeared into the clouds.

Kaiser Goldstien grabbed the coffee off of the hot eye. He took in the aroma for a moment, feeling the sleep wash away from his eyes. Kaiser had taken a nap earlier that day, tired from saving the shuttle. He grabbed a canister of sugar and started to pour it in. He stopped momentarily just to stir and taste the brew, but then once more poured the rest in. He wanted it sweet, vary sweet. Kaiser sighed as he sipped at the coffee and grabbed the remote for the small TV set sitting on the kitchen counter. He had a much larger one in the living room of his exquisite apartment complex, but he did not feel like getting up to turn it on. Kaiser flipped through the channels until he saw the news come on. Kaiser sipped again at the coffee mug, his lazy eyes watched the TV.

“Today was a vary momentous day,”
began the anchorman. “We have actual footage of King Ghidorah, the infamous King of Terror from outer space, saved the shuttle Destiny.”

Kaiser spat his coffee out in shock. He wiped his mouth off and turned up the volume.

“When asked about the incident, Captain Felix Norman had this to say…”

The scene changed to Captain Norman, surrounded by reporters.

“He just said: ‘I want your kind to trust me.’”
Began Norman "Then, he flew away. But the entire time, he was telling me to relax, that he was bringing me safely back to my family.”

“It’s good to relax,” Kaiser nodded. “Especially when I’m trying to save you.”

“This is the first time that an American has ever heard King Ghidorah’s voice,”
began one of the reporters on the scene. “Can you tell us what did he sound like?”

    “He’s German,”
Norman shrugged. “He spoke in a German accent, and even spoke the actual German language itself.”

    “German?”
the reporter asked. “Do you know German, Captain?”

“Never spoke a word of it in my life,”
he replied. “But I’ve heard it enough to recognize it. And that was German.”

The scene returned to the anchorman back at the media studio.

    “And there you have it,”
he said with a smile. “King Ghidorah wants us to trust him. We still don’t know why this space monster who—since the 1960s has attacked our planet and destroyed our cities, would want to save a shuttle. And for that matter, where did he learn how to speak German?”

“He lived in Germany for a few years?” Kaiser snickered.

    “What do you think, Martha?”
he asked, turning to his partner.

“Strange story, but frankly, I don’t trust a monster that has three heads and mind control powers,”
    she replied, shrugging.

“Dershtikt zolstu veren!” Kaiser spat. (You should choke on it!) “Hypocrites.”

He flipped the channel over to another news show, feeling a little hurt from what that news anchor said about him.

    “King Ghidorah saves Destiny!”
cried an obnoxious anchor. “I am amazed, and just because he saves a shuttle doesn’t mean we’ll give him anything!”

“Eck,” he changed the channel again. This time he landed on Jay Leno’s program.

    “An interesting topic today,”
Leno began. “King Ghidorah saves a shuttle from certain death. The shuttle Destiny was loosing its paneling, and its engines were about to explode when he arrives to save them. The dragon incases the shuttle in a protective shield, which consequently also disables any contact between the shuttle and ground control, and lands it safely to Houston. He controls the pilot, telling him to shut off the engines and put the landing gear down. Then he takes control over ground control and forces them to only worry about the shuttle and not his appearance in the sky. I’m confused. Isn’t this the same guy who barbecued North America in 1966?”

Laughter could be heard from the background. Kaiser did not like the sound of it.

    “He was, wasn’t he?”
Leno continued. “So, we’ve got a bad space dragon who now wants to become a good Samaritan? Where does it get off with that? And what about that German accent? If I’m correct, he visited Japan more than any other part of the world, and he has never visited Germany, so why doesn’t he have a Japanese accent and speak Japanese? Why a German accent? Does he think that he could be the next Hitler?”

“Was?” Kaiser cried. “Vhat he talking about? I’m insulted!”

Kaiser’s head turned as the phone rang. He reached over to his cell phone and placed it to his ear.

    “Hallo?” he answered the phone.

“Kaiser, I’m sorry,” began a feminine voice. “I’m sorry that this is happening. Are you okay?”

“Vickie!” Kaiser cried. “My pride’s hurt, that’s all. I try to do something good in my natural form and I get rotten tomatoes in my face.”

“Don’t worry to much on it, Ghidorah,” she began. “Give them time to accept this new leaf of yours. It’s not like it’s gonna happen over night. Besides, as long as they don’t know that you are Kaiser and King Ghidorah, they will still respect you for the man you are and not the monster you use to be.”

“I am trying to accept myself in the process,” Kaiser sighed. “To have humans accept me in both forms will help me accept myself.”

“Don’t do it that way,” Vickie said. “That’s the wrong way in dealing with this. You have to believe in yourself. I do.”

    “Thank you, Vickie,” Kaiser smiled.

“Look, it’s too late now, but how about tomorrow we get a cup of coffee together,” she began. “My treat.”

“No, I’ll pay,” he insisted. “Consider it another date with the most handsome eligible bachelor in the world.”

    He heard Vickie giggle.

“Alright,” she said. “One ‘o Clock, be at our favorite café spot.”

“I’ll see you then,” Kaiser grinned.

“I love you,” Vickie sighed. “King Ghidorah, or Kaiser Goldstien, I will always love you.”

Kaiser got up from his table and sat down on his couch, staring at the picture of Victoria Swanson.

“I love you, Victoria,” he breathed. “Take care, sweet dreams.”

“I’m gonna dream about you,” she giggled. “So, dream about me.”

“I will,” Kaiser said. “Goodnight, love.”

He heard the phone click off and he set it down on the table. Kaiser sighed and got up, not wanting to go back to bed yet. Though, he felt tired, warn from the day. There was a bit of anxiousness inside of him as he stared at the door to his bedroom. Kaiser took in a deep breath and walked into the room. He sat down on the bed and laid his head down on the pillow, trying to get his mind at ease. After all those media shots of him saving the shuttle, he did not want to look at his dragon form for a long time. Kaiser sighed again closed his eyes. He felt his consciousness began to drift again…

    * * * *

“After all this time, I had found him!” Deedra cried, glancing down at the glistening golden scaled form before her. “King Ghidorah, the great Space Dragon of planet Ghidrain!”

“His planet was destroyed many millions of years ago, Highness,” began Thufor. “He destroyed it himself.”

Deedra patted the canine-like creature on his head: “I am well aware of that. And many times he has fought against foes and was never beaten, until those monsters of Earth nearly killed him.”

She leaned closer to the central head of the enormous three-headed dragon, placing a taloned hand on his snout. She heard a rumble echo from within his throat as the lip twitched.

“I will make you greater than ever, Your Majesty,” she purred softly. “Better, faster, stronger, and larger. You will be mine and I shall be yours.”

The ruby eyes of the dragon slowly opened up, glossy from the long nap. Shards of his meteor were scattered about his body. Deedra had ordered several servants to sweep and clean the shards up, casting them out to space. The three heads of the dragon rose lazily into the air and glanced around. She heard his rumble from within, startled by his new surroundings.

    Where am I?
The dragon asked mentally. Deedra knew he had a limited form of telepathy, used mostly in communication. The dragon continued, glancing down at her: Who are you?

“I am Queen Deedra of the Dark Star,” she replied. “You are on my ship. I found your meteor floating about this sorrowful asteroid belt. You were healing yourself, were you not?”

I had a rather cumbersome battle between that radioactive lizard Godzilla
, King Ghidorah snarled. He is the only creature who has bested the King of Terror.

“I can help you have your revenge, Your Majesty,” she smiled evilly.

“Your Majesty?” It has been a long time since I was ever called that, the dragon mused. And what do you want with me?

“I want you to help me take over that small blue planet the humans call Earth,” she began slyly. “The third planet from its star.”

    I know of it,
he snapped. And I am no one’s lackey anymore. I will no longer be someone’s tool for conquest. I want nothing of that planet.

“Except revenge?” she asked. King Ghidorah’s eyes widened. Deedra brushed his triangular scales with her hand. “I don’t want you as a slave. I know of your current reputation. I want you as my equal, my partner. I am a powerful sorceress. I can make you more powerful than you ever dreamed. I can give you powers that only gods possess. You will have no equals, save me. Join me, we can take that planet. It possesses a great power, greater than anything in the universe. That was why so many others tried to conquer it. They never told you that, did they?”

    No,
King Ghidorah sighed. They never bothered to tell me their plans. I was nothing more than a weapon to them, never an intellectual equal.

“You are my equal, King Ghidorah,” Deedra crooned. “I am telling you why I want that planet. It is your choice. I will not force such a magnificent creature such as you to help me. If you wish to go, you are free to.”

This was the first time, he had heard anyone give him a choice in the matter. King Ghidorah was always under someone’s influence, and never did he have a choice. He could leave now and she would not press the subject again.

“I only offer once, though,” she began. “Once you leave my station, I will not offer it to you again.”

King Ghidorah rose to his feet, folding his wings inward towards his chest. The membranes of his wings glistened softly in the low light of the bay area. Deedra’s eyes sparkled, dazzled by his gorgeous scales. The dragon shook his manes atop each of his heads. Their tongues flickered out of the mouths, licking the sides of their lips simultaneously. He had to ponder greatly on her offer.

What sort of powers will you give me and is there a catch?
He asked her, eyes stared down at her in scrutiny.

“Your telepathy,” she began. “I can increase it a hundred. With the new boost to your telepathy, you will have the abilities to control vast areas of beings, from the most intelligent to the least intelligent. You can alter their minds and turn them to your control, make them slaves for you. These new mental powers will give you the ability to teleport yourself and others to anywhere you will desires. Your gravity electrical beams will also increase in manifold, and with enough power you could destroy one planet with a single shot. And this is only the tip of the iceberg of what you can do once I increase your power.”

    Sounds tempting,
he purred. But what about the catch?

“The only thing you would have to worry about is the fact this power requires vast amounts of energy to sustain,” she sighed. “You will have to consume life force energies from living beings to sustain your power, preferably the life essence of living creatures, such as the humans. The most pleasing of human essence is the essence of youth. It is sweet as nectar and it will give you more power than the essence of the aged. As humans grow old, their essence diminishes, until they die. The children have vast quantities of essence within them, and their qualities are pure innocence. You get the idea.”

    And that be the catch?
    King Ghidorah asked, sniffing.

“That is the catch,” Deedra replied. “What do you think?”

The great golden dragon raised his heads up and sniffed the air again. He turned to Deedra, his eyes narrowing into tiny slits.

I will agree to your plan,
he hefted mentally. If it means revenge on Godzilla and Mothra.

“You will be more powerful than they ever could reach,” Deedra grinned. “They will not be able to touch you. Come with me.”

King Ghidorah found himself strapped to a slab of metal with various tubing sticking out of his mouths. Wires and electrical devices that monitored his life functions attached themselves to the sides of his body and chest. He breathed slowly as he glanced back at the strange, raven haired woman who called herself Queen Deedra.

    What is all this?
He asked, a little shocked to be strapped down. Why am I strapped?

“Unfortunately the path to great power is paved with pain,” she sighed, her voice becoming somber. “I regret causing agony, but it is a side effect of inducing you with such godly energy. But when you arise, you will never be the same weak creature many remember. The straps are to keep you in place while I empower your body.”

She leaned over the railing, smiling at him with a smile of lust. King Ghidorah turned away, knowing the meaning of that smile. He wanted nothing to do with that smile. Deedra continued to smile at him as she signaled for Thufor to pull the lever on the machine. The dragon watched with wide eyes as golden energy filled the tubes. He felt the energy fill his body, and his muscles began to twitch. It was like a wave, crashing against his body, King Ghidorah did not see it coming. The pain wracked his form, shooting streams of agony through his vary soul. He screamed, his trio of voices shook the station with their agony. Tears seeped out from his eyes. His toes curled up and his tails lashed about. Electricity sparked up around his body. Ghidorah’s central head turned up, its eyes were wide. His body began to grow, the muscles rippled and bulged out, making the straps tighter. His wings began to reform and grow longer and wider, armed with enormous talons at the end of each digits. He roared out again, his voice becoming deeper and more melodic. King Ghidorah snapped the straps, and rose from the slate. The pain was overcoming him, ripping his body in two. He knelt back down, thrashing about in agony.

    Stop it!
He cried. Enough! I can’t take it anymore!

“I’m not finished yet!” Deedra cried. “But it will be done soon.”

His height increased nearly four times its normal size. The center head’s horns grew out and branched off, becoming more like the majestic antlers of an elk. Deedra was satisfied, he had completely transformed.

“Grand King Ghidorah,” she breathed. “Isn’t he a handsome sight to behold, Thufor?”

“Yes, my Queen,” Thufor nodded. “He is. Such a beautiful creature of power, stealth, and intelligence. You should be proud.”

King Ghidorah felt the pain subside, breathing heavily. He was curled up, his wings folded into his body and his tails coiled around his legs. His body still shook from the absence of pain. He never felt pain like that before. He prayed to who ever heard him that he will never feel it again. His central head looked up at Deedra.

“Arise, Grand King Ghidorah,” she called. “Arise and meet your new destiny…”

    * * * *

Kaiser awoke in a sweat, swallowing heavily. The phone was ringing loudly as he awoke from his dream. He was dreaming about the past, of what once was. Kaiser wiped his forehead and reached over to answer the phone.

    “Yes?” he asked.

“Kaiser!” a voice cried. “Where the hell are you?”

“Tom?” Kaiser asked, wiping his eyes.

“Who the hell do you think it is?” Tom asked. “Get your ass over to the studio! You’re late!”

“Scheiße,” he snorted. “It’s not that late in the day.”

“It’s almost 11am!” Tom cried. “Now get over here!”

Kaiser backed away from the phone: “Alright, fine. I’ll be there.”

Once he got to the studio, Kaiser met the burning eyes of Tom. This was the first time in months since he had been late and not have an excuse. Kaiser shuffled his shoes on the ground and smiled.

    “I slept late?” he shrugged.

“We have ten minutes before we go onto the air, Kaiser!” Tom cried. “Now, get to the make-up and wardrobe and be ready to do your hocus-pocus!”

“Tom,” began Kaiser. “Why do we do a live show? Let’s tape the show instead. How about that?”

“Because people don’t believe you can see the dead,” he rumbled. “So, we need this live show to prove it. Now, get out there and show them what you can do!”

The make-artist and the wardrobe technician gathered around him, adjusting his tie and began to apply the make-up to his face. He closed his eyes and just let them pamper him right before the show.

Arise Grand King Ghidorah and meet your destiny…

“Who would have thought my destiny is on a TV show telling people about their loved ones in the after life,” Kaiser sighed, recalling what Deedra had said.

The make-up artist and the wardrobe pulled away from him as he began to walk towards the stage. He saw several people began to take their seats. They were his live studio audience, the people who he will call out to when the dead call to him. He could not help but to notice a few Asian people sitting down near the central row of the audience seats. His keen ears listened to them as they talked amongst themselves. They were speaking Japanese.

“Great, Japanese,” he sighed. “I just hope none of them have family members that were killed by one of my raids through Japan. That would not be good.”

“Okay, people, we are on in 2 minutes!” cried Tom. “Kaiser, get out on the stage!”

Kaiser rushed out onto the stage, smiling at the audience who came to view him. Some of them smiled back, the others just stared blankly at him. Kaiser adjusted his tie and glanced back at the Japanese audience members in the center row. They were still talking and he knew exactly what they were talking about. Only a few years ago, he had started to learn Japanese, but he did hear his vary name—King Ghidorah come up several times in their conversation. They were talking about the shuttle incident from yesterday. He wondered if he should have just let it burn in the Earth’s atmosphere.

    No!
He cried. What am I thinking? Despite what has happened to me, no one deserves to die like that. I was honored to save them from death.

“Okay, we are ready!” cried the director. “Cue the intro!”

Kaiser waited for his signal to start talking, watching the teleprompt with anticipation. He tried to keep his mind off of the Japanese audience members and on to his show. Tom signaled Kaiser.

“Greetings, everyone,” he began. “Welcome to the show. As you know, I am Kaiser Goldstien. For those of you who are new to the show, what I do is listen to those who have passed on to the next life and who want to get in contact with their loved ones in this life…to give them a message, or tell them that everything is fine. I advise you to take this show as you will, as your discretion. If you do not believe in this, that is your choice. What ever afterlife your religion, if you believe in one, describes, you may work this into your opinions of this show. I do not discriminate for each religion, for everyone has their own opinions of what is in store for them in the afterlife. I am only here to bring loved ones from the other side close to their relations so that they might see some sort of closure and then move on—whether they have yet to say good bye or have an important message to give to that person still among us in the world of the living. Take this show in your own opinions, I am not here to force my beliefs onto you. Now, shall we begin?”

He glanced around the room, feeling the lure of the souls on the other side call to him. Though, what disturbed him the most were the calls from the Japanese’s loved ones. And one of them was a child—a child he killed in ’98.

“Dear God,” Kaiser sighed. “No, not this. Don’t haunt me now.”

He stepped slightly forward, staring at the Japanese audience members.

“The spirit is Japanese,” he announced. “And is a child of 12. She was killed by King Ghidorah in 1998, when he absorbed her essence.”

One of the Japanese, a woman rose to her feet, shaking fearfully.

    “Am I correct?” Kaiser asked.

“Yes, you are,” she nodded. “She was killed by King Ghidorah.”

“Her voice is the loudest in this room, madam,” he began. “The loudest I have ever heard. I don’t sense shadows like I normally do, she is here with me now.”

“What does she have to say?” the woman asked, tears coming from her eyes.

“She said that her death was painful,” Kaiser began, feeling a welt in his throat. “But she is at peace now. She loves you. She said that she is waiting for you. You will wait for her?”

“Yes!” she cried. “I will! Thank you, Mr. Goldstein!”

    “No, thank you,” he sighed.

“Lies!” cried a voice backstage. “All lies!”

Kaiser turned to the voice, seeing a man push the crewmen aside.

“Hey!” cried Tom. “You’re not supposed to be back here! Who the hell let this joker in? Security!”

The disgruntled looking man reached into his pocket and pulled a pistol out. He aimed it at Kaiser, with shaking hands. Kaiser stepped forwards.

“Please, put that away,” Kaiser called.

The man shook his head as he felt his mind being plucked at for a moment. Kaiser stared at him.

“No!” he cried. “Defiler of God! Devil! You’re lies will end here!” The man fired the gun. “Die, beast! I will cast thee into the fiery inferno!”

Kaiser felt the bullet penetrate his chest. He let out a yelp feeling the blood leap up into his throat. His concentration was broken when he felt the bullet piece his skin.

    “Kaiser!” cried Tom. “God, no!”

Tom leapt at the assailant, tackling him to the ground. The gun fired again, and another bullet found itself into Kaiser’s chest, this time piecing his heart. Blood, rich and red splattered out from the wound. Kaiser felt his chest cave in as he slowly toppled towards the ground. Kaiser glanced back at Tom and the attacker, his vision becoming blurry.

“Monster!” the man cried. “I know who you are! King Ghidorah!”

Tom reached out and grappled with the man, fighting for control over the gun. Another shot sounded and Kaiser finally fell over, as the bullet shot through his shoulder. Tom held the man down, yanking the gun from his hand finally and held it at the man’s head.

“Don’t move!” he hissed. “Kaiser, you alright?”

Kaiser rose to his feet, blood still sputtering from his mouth and his heart. He raised his hand to his eyes and watched it. He could feel it coming. His body began to glow brilliantly golden as his hand began to web out. His fingers elongated into lengthy webbed digits. Golden scales sparked on his arms.

    “Kaiser!” Tom cried. “The hell…”

Kaiser lifted his head up, staring at Tom and then to the audience that watched him.

“Get out!” he cried. “Get out! Before I crush you!”

Kaiser’s form was glowing as bright as the sun. Tom tried to see the pained face of his friend through the glow, but it was no use. All that he could hear was his voice.

“Tom, please!” Kaiser cried. “Help them get out. My form will—destroy this building. I can’t control the transformation!”

“Kaiser, what’s happening to you?” he cried. “What’s going on. What do you mean by ‘transformation’?”

“No time!” Kaiser coughed. “Now, go. Get them to evacuate!”

“I can’t just leave you there,” Tom called. “You need help, you need medical attention!”

He heard a horrid sound come from the glowing form of what was Kaiser Goldstein. A golden slivering bolt of lightning shot forth from the form zapping only inches away form Tom’s feet.

“King Ghidorah!” cried the assailant as he was being dragged away along with the others. “He’s the King of Terror, you fool! He has lied to us all!”

“Kaiser Goldstein,” Tom breathed as he turned from the form, running out. “Fine, you’re on your own.”

    I’m sorry, Tom,
he heard Kaiser’s mental voice call into his mind. It sounded so sorrowful and solemn.

He heard the building began to crash all around him as the glow grew and enveloped his sight. He felt his body become warm and he felt comforted in the warmth. Then, as the golden light faded away, Tom found himself outside the building, on the parking lot. His eyes gazed skyward as he heard the most beautiful melodic call echo from the building. The building was in ruins. His eyes grew wide, seeing an immense form standing in the center of the rubble. The form was draconic, standing on two thick, muscular legs. Two broad golden wings spread wide, catching the wind. The dragon was cast in brilliant triangular scaled armor. The monster had three heads, each one crowned with three majestically curved horns on each head. The center head’s outer pair of horns were branched like a crown of elk antlers.

    “King Ghidorah!” Tom cried. “Kaiser?”

King Ghidorah’s eyes were closed as he stepped away from the building. He turned around, facing the ruined building, his body began to glow again. Glowing particles of energy flowed from his slowly beating wings, covering the ruins of the building. Tom’s eyes watched with awe as the building began to rebuild itself piece by piece until it looked like nothing happened to it. Ghidorah’s center head turned back to the people he just saved and his eyes fell on Tom.

“Kaiser, is that you?” he asked, breathing heavily from the shock.

A long time ago, I was the soul ruler of a planet called Ghidrain,
Tom heard the voice of Kaiser inside his head. But my soul became corrupted. So, I destroyed it and all the life on Ghidrain. I destroyed many worlds, and even galaxies to sate my hunger for power. Now, I seek my own redemption. Find the humanity in a dragon’s soul.

“All this time, Kaiser!” Tom called. “All this time—you were King Ghidorah?! We’ve known each other for 10 years, but now it seems that I don’t even know you anymore. You’ve lied to me, about your past, where you were from.”

King Ghidorah’s heads sank down and sighed: I’m sorry for doing so. I have made a mistake. My plans are ruined. I must leave, now. Don’t take it too hard, Tom. Please, this was not supposed to happen.

With that, the draconic sorcerer launched into the air and disappeared in a blinding flash of electric golden light. Tom sighed, still dumbfounded by what he just witnessed. Then, he realized that he was not the only one, many had witnessed Kaiser’s transformation. With the building restored, that meant the recording and the live shots of the transformation were in the studio. The world knew now.

“Our career is ruined, Kaiser,” he sighed. “Thanks for ten wasted years of my life.”

    * * * *

Tom had not heard from Kaiser—or King Ghidorah for a few days. He was wondering if the dragon was packing his things now. Tom saw every news station around the block airing Kaiser’s transformation. It looked bad from there. He sighed as he passed the café he and Kaiser would visit on breaks and days off. He decided to walk in just for old time’s sake. Tom sighed as he walked in, glancing around the room. He saw a golden haired man pouring several bags of sugar into his coffee mug. Only one man did that, King Ghidorah.

“Kaiser,” he grunted as he walked over to the man. “Look at me, Kaiser!”

The man turned, his ruby-brown eyes stared into Tom’s eyes.

    “Tom?” he asked.

Tom grabbed Kaiser by the collar and threw him to the ground.

“Lying ass-hole!” he grunted. “How dare you lie bold face to me like that for 10 years!”

“I had no choice,” Kaiser sighed. “Would you have taken me in if you would have known that I was King Ghidorah?”

“No, why would I do such a thing?” he asked. “You killed people, and kidnapped innocent children! Why would I host someone like that? You would ruin my reputation in a minute. Like you did now!”

“I’m sorry, Tom,” Kaiser began. “I wanted to put my life together again. Please, forgive me…”

“Forget it!” Tom cried. “You get nothing!”

Tom leaned back and punched Kaiser in the face, sending the German crashing into the tables. People got up from their seats, staring at the café brawl that was happening.

“Tom,” Kaiser cried. “Let’s talk about this!”

Tom grunted and leaned back again, sending his fist back towards Kaiser. His fist came down and hit air instead. He stared for a moment, finding that he was gazing face-to-face with the three-headed form of King Ghidorah.

“Everyone knows,” the dragon sighed. “So what does it matter?”

“We have nothing to talk about, lying sleazebag,” Tom pulled way from Ghidorah.

    “I deserved that,” Ghidorah sighed.

“You deserve more,” Tom sneered. “A lot more. I hope you do burn in Hell for what you’ve done.”

He glanced back at the dragon. The shirt was torn around the beast’s chest and his trousers were tattered now around the legs. King Ghidorah rose and walked back to his coffee, gripping the mug with his two outer heads and sipping it with his center head. Tom walked over and sat down, staring at him with disdain.

“You,” he sighed. “Told me your mother and fathered died in a plane crash. I believed you. Now, I see what this is all about. You used your mind tricks on me to make me your foolish stooge. You controlled me all this time.”

“No, I didn’t,” Ghidorah breathed. “If I did, then you would not be my best friend now. I was through with mind games like that when I decided to walk the world as one of you.” He turned to Tom. “And you are my friend, Tom.”

“If I was, then why didn’t you tell me this before?” he asked.

“Could I?” the dragon asked. “Given my reputation as King Ghidorah? Kaiser Goldstein was my way of erasing my past forever. I was willing to live the lie, to say that I was human and believe it. That’s the whole point now. King Ghidorah is a monster, but Kaiser Goldstein isn’t. I want to be Kaiser, not Ghidorah. So, I had to lie, to make Kaiser what I wanted him to become.”

Ghidorah brought Tom close to him.

“I have been given a gift now,” he began, his eyes bright. “I want to use it to help people, not destroy them. How can I do that as King Ghidorah?”

“You just did,” Tom sighed. “You saved that shuttle, and this city many times. That is your gift, Kaiser.”

King Ghidorah sank back: “I won’t be here for long. I’ve made arrangements, to leave the country.” He sighed. “And perhaps the planet itself. I am a space dragon, and I belong up there. Perhaps I can use my gift to heal the universe…to give back what I’ve taken so many times before.”

“What about Vickie?” Tom asked. “Does she know?”

    “She does,” he sighed.

“Well, then why the hell leave her as well?” Tom pressed on.

“I don’t want the world to hunt her down just because it knows that Kaiser and Ghidorah are one and the same,” Ghidorah mumbled. “I want to spare her that. I don’t want the world to know about us. It’s for the best for all of us. Besides, I’m better off as a loner anyways.”

    Tom shook his head.

“Tom, I think the world of her,” the dragon continued. “I love her. For God’s sake I love her! But I want to spare her what this world’s media can do to a person. I know what is in store for me now, I’ve seen the shows, the talk shows, and the news. They’re all cursing my name. I can’t blame them. I just don’t want them to pry into her life. I want to spare her that. She does not deserve it. If I would have known this would have happened, I would have never asked her to go out with me…or to have a relationship with me. This is my mistake, my problem—not hers. She knows that I’m leaving.”

“Where will you go?” Tom asked.

    “I don’t know,” he sighed. “I wish I did.”

King Ghidorah took one last sip of his mug, lifting the mug up to his lips with only the power of his mind. Then, he gave the tender his tab and his form faded away.

“Kaiser!” cried Vickie. She ran over to him, taking him into her arms. Kaiser held her close to him, tears falling down his cheeks.

“I’m sorry, Vickie,” he sighed. “I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t go!” she whispered. He leaned over and kissed her gently, caressing her face with his hand. Her eyes were filled with love for him. It was all for him.

“Vickie, I will always love you,” Kaiser began. “But I have to do this. And you know why. I’m saving you from them. Farewell, Vickie. I love you so much. You are the warmth I will carry when I return to the coldness that is space.”

His form glowed and grew. He slowly revered back into his draconic form, his majestic body towering over her. King Ghidorah’s face smiled slightly as he lifted off into the air.

Good-bye, Vickie, he began. It was wonderful while it lasted. Never forget me.

His form disappeared into the sun, sparkling light covered his body and incased it inside the protective shell of his meteor.

“GHIDORAH!” Vickie cried out, reaching out for the shimmering, glistening rock as it soared higher into the air. “Come back!”

    Infant Island

They heard it coming for miles, screaming across the land and over the sea. The massive fiery rock crashed onto their beach, disturbing their peaceful island home. They rose and walked down to the beach to see what it was.

“It’s a meteor,” Moll began. “And I’m sensing an energy from it.”

“That’s King Ghidorah,” Lora said. “He’s found our island.”

The meteor hatched and a brilliant light formed from inside, forming into the three-headed dragon King Ghidorah. Then, the light dimmed and formed into a new form, a smaller form. He was their size, and human. Kaiser smiled at the Alias.

“Goten Tog, ladies,” Kaiser began. “You know me as King Ghidorah. We were never formally introduced though.”

“What do you want here?” Lora asked. “Why have you come to our island?”

    “To hide,” Kaiser sighed.

“You nearly killed Mothra!” Moll cried. “And Godzilla. So, why would we grant you sanctuary?”

“Then I will find another place,” he breathed. “I don’t suppose that you’ve heard what I’ve been doing lately.”

“We know,” Lora replied. “You’ve changed.”

“I’m sorry,” Kaiser began. “For all that I’ve done, to you and Mothra. Deedra has come back, but for now she is sated. Your world is in danger, but I have not the strength to fight her now. And now, after I was shot, the humans know that I’m King Ghidorah. I can’t return to the life I was trying to build for myself.”

He knelt to the sand, weeping.

“Believe me, I am suffering,” he wept. “I’ve loved. She loves me…”

“Let us look into your eyes,” Moll began. “To see if you are telling the truth.”

Kaiser lifted his head to them, tears streaming down his face. They saw images in his mind, all of Vickie and Tom. They saw his happiness, and how he helped people—how that has now filled his heart with joy. They could sense the pain that he feels for all the souls that he absorbed years ago. They were taking their toll on his own soul, tormenting it with their dreams and with their thoughts. They’ve been sated by only King Ghidorah’s actions of kindness and good for the past 10 years. They tore their minds from his. Kaiser—King Ghidorah—the once King of Terror, was on his knees.

“I beg of you,” he began. “Let me stay here for a little while. If only I could find a way to make them forget they ever saw me transform. I could return to those who care about me the most. My power, as great as they are now—can’t do something like that.”

“You are more powerful than Mothra,” Moll began. “What power does she have that you don’t? What power can she use that you can’t use better? Deedra has made you more powerful than even you can handle now, King Ghidorah.”

“Help me, just this once,” he breathed. “I will not ask again.”

“What do you think, Lora?” she asked her sister.

“Let him stay for a while,” Lora sighed. “That is if he can behave himself.”

“I can,” Kaiser smiled. “You know that I can now. I have no evil heart anymore.”

“You may stay, King Ghidorah,” Moll smiled.

He took their hands in gratitude: “Thank you.”

King Ghidorah stood on the beach in his grand draconic form. His wings hung to his sides and his shoulders were slumped down. He stared into the east, tears streaming down his face. He sensed her love for him even from this distance. He felt a lump build in all three of his throats and felt a sob softly escape his lips. He knelt to his knees and fell onto his wings.

“If you love her,” began Lora. “Then, nothing should separate you from her.”

    You don’t understand,
he rumbled. I’d give anything, even my life, to be with her. But I would be doing more harm than good. She does not deserve persecution for loving a creature like me. That is what they will give her. I am doing this to save her from that.

“When you attacked us,” began Moll. “You nearly killed both Godzilla and Mothra, but then you backed way. You spared them death, why?”

King Ghidorah turned towards them, his central head leaning down to them. His mind slowly returned to that time when he let the two other monsters go…

“King Ghidorah!” cried Deedra through his thoughts. “Kill them! Kill them and we will be victorious!”

    Do not interrupt me, woman!
King Ghidorah snapped back at her. Their deaths shall come swiftly.

Both Mothra and Godzilla were bleading over each other. Their bodies were piled on top of each other as if they were ready to be cremated. Godzilla struggled to look up, pushing Mothra’s tattered wing from his eyes. His body was in pain and he felt the influence of King Ghidorah’s heightened mental power keeping him that way. He felt the pain of little pricks inside his mind, ripping it apart piece by piece and memory by memory. He could not even find the strength to raise his head all the way up to look at the King of Terror in the eye. Never in all his attacks on Earth did he ever seem so strong. He was not a joke anymore, he meant business. Godzilla coughed up a spurt of blood from his lips and slumped back down. He heard the sound of King Ghidorah’s voice laughing mockingly at him.

How does it feel now, Godzilla?
King Ghidorah hissed, pleased with the pain he caused. Where is your pride now? Tell me, are you still calling yourself the ‘King of Monsters’? Is that title fitting for you?

Godzilla rumbled painfully, his eye slowly closing.

I was once a real king; you are nothing more than an animal!
The dragon continued, scoffing and laughing. Nothing more, nothing less. How could a real king fall at the hands of a mutated dinosaur! It’s degenerating! Mothra is more of an equal to me than you are.

Mothra raised her head up and squeaked at King Ghidorah. The dragon just chuckled.

Oh, I’m not equal to you, Mothra?
He asked. You’re right. I’m better!

He sent another wave of pain through their bodies, hearing their screams of agony and torment.

“That’s it, love!” cried Deedra. “Kill them! Then, Earth will be ours to rule, my beautiful King Ghidorah—my future husband.”

King Ghidorah stopped his onslaught of their minds and retreated, his mind turning towards Deedra and what she said.

    Husband?
He asked. Why would I marry you?

“For what I have given you, my love!” she cried. “You owe me this. We will rule together. Or I will rule over you alone!”

King Ghidorah roared in defiance. He looked up at the sky, his thunderous roar echoed off the mountains.

I did not agree to this!
He called up to her. This was not apart of our agreement! We are partners, nothing more.

“We are more than that, love,” she hissed. “You and I are connected.”

    Never!
King Ghidorah snarled. I am not some toy you can play with or some pet you can order around!

“You are mine and I am yours,” Deedra said. “We will rule together. Now kill them!”

King Ghidorah glanced down at the battered bodies of Mothra and Godzilla. They stared up at him, their eyes were shaking and their bodies trembling. There was something that plucked at his heart. He turned away from them, his need to destroy them was no longer there. He heard Mothra squeak at him. Ghidorah turned back to Mothra, his central head’s eyes closed in on her. He just wanted to stare at the moth, his eyes never leaving her. King Ghidorah felt something change within him. He was not sure as to what it was, yet.

“Kill them!” Deedra cried. “Kill them now, Grand King Ghidorah!”

The dragon sorcerer snapped all three of his heads back to the sky.

    No!
King Ghidorah cried. I will no longer take orders from anyone. Not you, not anyone else. These powers are mine.

He turned back down to the other monsters.

I will be back to finish you off right after I deal with Deedra,
    King Ghidorah hissed.

“But you did not return,” Lora began. “Though, both were badly injured, they survived. Mothra slowly returned to her sanctuary and Godzilla crawled back to the sea.”

King Ghidorah sighed, laying his body to the ground in sorrow.

I tried to forget the past,
he wept. Humanity is my salvation. Why does it haunt me so?

“You’ve decided not to remember,” Lora began. “So, your past haunts you.”

He leaned up: But I know that I’ve sinned! I am sorry that I nearly killed Mothra and Godzilla. I deserve every bit of hatred they are willing to give me.

“You don’t accept who you are,” she continued. “So, you try to hide.”

    I am a shamed,
the dragon shook his head. I am ashamed of what I’ve become. The years that have harden this heart, turned me into that monster. I was a good king once, a king who ruled a world under a wing of truth and justice. I cared nothing but the safety of my subjects. I—I don’t know what happened! But I do know what I’ve become. I don’t want that now.

King Ghidorah turned away, feeling a sudden gush of wind pick the mane on his heads up. His right outer head turned, its eyes focusing on the gigantic, colorful insect that began to fly circles around him. He heard Mothra’s call to him. She stopped, suspending herself with only the beat of her wings. She lowered herself to his eye level. King Ghidorah felt a flinch come on, he did not want to look at her in the eye. He heard her call again as he turned all three of his heads away.

No, I don’t want to look at you,
he whispered softly into her mind. I can’t look at you. Not for what I did.

    “King Ghidorah,”
Mothra’s calls translated to him. “Look at me.”

For what it’s worth, I’m sorry,
King Ghidorah’s central head turned back, tears forming in his ruby eyes. He felt the soft sway of Mothra’s wings as they slowly flapped around him. He stared into her glistening, many faceted sapphire eyes. Sparkling fragments of starlight flowed off her wings and fluttered softly around his body. The sparkling dust felt soothing to Ghidorah as he watched it flow around him. The wind picked up the sparkles and carried their soft energy through the forests.

“I know you are sorry, Ghidorah,”
Mothra continued. “I know. I can sense it from you. You are sincere about your change. You mean it this time.”

King Ghidorah’s mane picked up in the wind and he allowed his body to spark up softly, his glow adding to the fairy dust around him.

“If you love her, then go to her,”
    Mothra began. “Fly to her.”

    And risk her being persecuted?
King Ghidorah asked. No, I can’t ask that of Vickie. I would never ask that of her. My love is not worth her freedom to walk the streets without the need to hide from the mass media.

    “Love her,”
Mothra began softly. “I shall not stand to see someone who has given back so much be in sorrow and pain.”

King Ghidorah’s central head leaned down, tears flowing like tiny rivers down his cheeks. Mothra moved in, resting her furry head on his snout, her wings folding in around his neck. He found himself burying his face into her thorax, her front legs softly grazing over the sides of his snout. It was an odd embrace for both of them. King Ghidorah has never allowed someone like Mothra comfort him. She seemed willing to do it.

“Don’t be ashamed of who you are,”
Mothra began. “You can be that great king again if you just allow it to happen. Take strength in you past, and embrace you future.”

    Mothra,
King Ghidorah began, pulling back from her comforting embrace. The humans will not accept me. I’m surprised that you have. They will not be as forgiving as you. Especially my friend Tom.

“That is the demon you must face,”
she said. “It is your choice. You are welcome to stay here as long as you live. But you must also face your demons. Don’t hide from them. If you are a great king, then you can face your fears and return to New York.”

King Ghidorah got up off the beach and stared back at the ocean, folding his wings to his sides.

    I am a great king,
he sighed mentally. But I don’t know if I have the strength to return to New York and to the life of Kaiser Goldstein.

    “Then don’t,”
Mothra said. “Don’t return as Kaiser Goldstein, return as King Ghidorah. Even if you take on your human form, be King Ghidorah in name as well as in spirit. That is who you are. You are King Ghidorah, and no one can take that away from you.”

    I should,
King Ghidorah took in a deep breath as he spread his wings wide. They glistened brightly in the sun. Then, he gave them a hearty flap and launched his great bulk into the air. His left head turned back towards Mothra as she flew along side him.

    “I am escorting you,”
she began. “Until you reach the mainland.”

Victoria walked into her apartment and turned on the lights. Her eyes cast down to the sofa as she threw her hand bag to it. She glanced balefully over to a picture resting on the card table. It was a picture of a man with blonde hair and ruby eyes.

    “Kaiser,” she sighed.

    Come into the bed room,
Vickie, a voice whispered sweetly to her.

Her eyes lifted up as she went to her bedroom. Vickie gasped as she entered the room. There he laid, wings spread out over the covers, the twin tails coiled below. King Ghidorah’s central head held a rose in its mouth. He wore long silky looking black trousers and rose petals spread all over the bed and on the floor. Victoria swallowed, seeing the majestic dragon laying on her bed.

    “Kaiser,” she breathed. “You’re…you’re…”

    I’m here for you, Vickie,
King Ghidorah began. I’ve returned. I’m sorry I ever left you.

King Ghidorah leaned off the bed, crawling to her. His central head stretched out to her, ‘handing’ her the rose. Victoria reached out and took the flower from his mouth. She took one smell of it and then leaned over to him. Their lips pressed together giving way to a passionate and longed for kiss. She could feel his tongue again, grazing her lips and rolling through the inside of her mouth. Ghidorah pulled away, his form slowly shifting and transforming. When the shape shifting was done, Victoria found herself staring at Kaiser Goldstein.

“Vickie,” he began. “I want to stay here, with you. Now, they all know about me being King Ghidorah. They know my face. If I could take on a different form, a different face when we are together, then they won’t associate you with me. We can go on dates and such without anyone knowing we are together. You’re privacy will be spared.”

“Ghidorah,” began Vickie, she looked away. “Kaiser, I don’t want you to change just to protect me. I fell in love with the face I see now, and with the dragon under that face. I don’t want a new face. We’ll deal with it.”

Kaiser got up and took her into his arms, holding her close. He kissed her forehead and rubbed her back.

“I love you, Vickie,” he breathed.

“I love you too, King Ghidorah,” she replied to him. “That’s all that matters to me.”

“You know something,” he began. “For as long as we’ve been going out, I have yet to give you an aerial tour of New York.”

    “What?” she asked.

Kaiser smiled and blinked. Suddenly, they both disappeared.

Victoria found herself on the glistening golden neck of the central head of the King of Terror. She felt the wind rush up against her face and toss her brown locks about her neck. She leaned over a bit, glancing down to the city below. King Ghidorah was flying over New York City. The three-headed golden dragon flew slowly over the brightly lit city. His wings slowly pumped as he gracefully gained altitude.

    Comfy?
Victoria heard the voice of Kaiser inside her head. She smiled and leaned into his golden mane.

“I am,” Vickie grinned. “It’s beautiful up here.”

I wanted so much to take you flying, Vickie,
Ghidorah said. Every time I thought about it, I would forget again. Something—Tom—mostly would come up. Then…then the incident at the studio. They know…

“Don’t let that bother you, Kaiser,” she told the dragon, combing his mane through his fingers. “I want you to stay with me.”

She glanced up, seeing one of the side heads rising up. She gazed into the handsome ruby eyes of the draconic head. A smile curled up its lips.

    You mean that?
King Ghidorah asked. No matter what happens, you’ll stay at my side?

“That’s what unconditional love, is, Kaiser,” said Vickie. “Yes, I will stay at your side. But you must do the same for me.”

    You know I will,
he said. The head sank back down as King Ghidorah pumped his wings once more. The great dragon banked off landing on top of the Empire State Building. His wings quickly snapped back at his sides and he coiled his twin tails around the enormous pillar of concrete and glass. Vickie got a foot hold, steadying herself on the center head’s central crescent-moon horn. She looked out beyond the lengthy, wedge-like golden snout of the dragon’s center head. Vickie slowly slid down King Ghidorah’s brow, landing on the bridge of his snout. She straddled his snout, holding on as she felt the center head sway, giving her a different view of the city.

“Wow,” she breathed. “I’ve been up on this building so many times in my life, but I’ve never seen it like this before. It feels so different.”

Is it because you’re on my head—up higher than the lookout on the building, or is it something else?

“It’s having you here with me,” Vickie said. “And possibly the height. But I usually came up here alone.”

    Why?

“This is the place were a friend of mine threw herself off from,” Vickie sighed. “She was a dear friend.”

    It happened in 2000, ja?
King Ghidorah asked. Girl named Martha Tucker?

You reading my mind again?” she asked.

No, I saw that on the news,
he replied. She was an addict. Took too much, at least that’s what the news said. It was more than just that, wasn’t it?

“A lot more, she had problems,” Vickie sighed. She turned away when she saw the two side heads rise up, their gaze falling upon her. King Ghidorah knew she did not want to be pressed anymore on the subject.

I’ll not trouble you any further, then,
he began. I’m sorry you lost your friend. And I’m sorry I brought you here. I picked this place with ignorance of what happened. I swear. Your thoughts are your own, I never pry, not unless you want me to read your mind. Perhaps, I should fly to another spot then. I just chose it because this is the place where loves often go.

“It’s alright, Kaiser,” Vickie said. “I’m okay. It’s beautiful up here.”

The heads slumped down and their eyes seemed downcast. Vickie sighed, realizing what she had done.

“Kaiser!” she cried. “Great, all because of me, you’re going to be depressed just because you chose the spot where my best friend committed suicide. You didn’t know.”

    I could have,
    King Ghidorah said. But…

“You respected my privacy, Kaiser,” she smiled. “I appreciate that. I often wondered—about going out with someone who’s a telepath. I was worried he’d might read my mind too much and know everything about me before I was willing to tell. You’re not like that.” Vickie’s eyes turned back to the glistening, brightly lit city below. “And it’s a beautiful view. I wouldn’t have come up here with any other person—but you, King Ghidorah.”

King Ghidorah smiled softly and all his heads turned towards the glowing city. The two stared out into the night, silent.

“Kaiser, I love you,” Vickie said. “Don’t ever leave me again.”

If I do leave, I’ll take you with me,
King Ghidorah purred. I will never leave your side again, Vickie. This I do swear.

“Grand King Ghidorah has been making himself a life down there on that pretty blue ball,” began Deedra. “Too bad his life has now been put on hold. That religious fanatic really put a damper on his life. He won’t even leave his apartment.” She turned back to her servant Thufor. The slumped over, lizard like man smiled deviously. She returned his expression with a wicked grin on her thin lips. “Good work, Thufor.”

“My pleasure, my Queen,” he bowed. “And it was even easier to escape the Earthling policemen once King Ghidorah revealed his true form and rebuilt the building with his powers. They were so stunned, they just stared in awe and fear of him. I escaped without trouble.”

“My poor love,” Deedra sighed. “So alone, so depressed, so sad. Lying in bed all day, never seeing the light again. Sooner or later, he’ll run out of money and his apartment will be repossessed. The humans already canceled his psychic show. He had it much simpler with me. And I shall remind him of that once more.” She turned to an enormous, foggy glass tube. A dark form stirred inside the glass tube. She smiled at the form and touched it with her hand. Her station was a laboratory, the exact same satellite that granted King Ghidorah his incredible psionic powers. She was hard at work again, creating a monster that will once and for all rid her of King Ghidorah, or at least bring him back to her—where he belonged. Her assistant, Thufor had gotten a hold of samples of Godzilla cells. She wanted to create a monster with the power and durability of Godzilla, and also with the psionic power of King Ghidorah. She infused some of King Ghidorah’s essence inside the monster—to give it the psionic power the space dragon possessed. She wanted her King Ghidorah back and she was willing to do anything to get him back. Deedra glanced out the window of her immense satellite. Her thoughts turned to the new love in Ghidorah’s life. Victoria Swanson was her name. Deedra flushed with envy and jealousy that this weak Earthling could hold the heart of the mighty King Ghidorah. She thought of them, Ghidorah and Vickie lying in bed every day, snuggling, holding each other, and kissing. The human had stolen her love away from her. Deedra sighed as she turned back to the tube.

“You will bring my lover back,” she said. “Or he’ll die by your hand, my baby…my Spacegodzilla.”

Vickie rolled over onto a heavily scaled chest, resting her head against it. She felt the muscular chest rise and fall with every slow breath. She began to stir a bit, slowly slipping in and out of consciousness. She turned her head and opened her eyes slowly, watching as the golden scene came into focus. Lying on the fluffy pillows beneath her was King of Terror himself, Ghidorah. The three-headed dragon’s heads were curled, two of them laid flat on his chest, and the other head’s lengthy neck was wrapped around Vickie’s waist. King Ghidorah breathed slowly, but he did not snore. Vickie could hear a slight soft purr come from all three heads and it even vibrated his chest. She placed a soft kiss on his chest and reached over to pat the head that was around her slender form. She felt the golden dragon stir as she groomed the head’s soft, golden mane. The eyes of the center head opened slightly turning towards Vickie. A smile appeared on his scaly lips. The eyes of the other head also opened and they both lifted up off the pillow. Then, the third head’s eyes awoke and it lifted up off of Vickie’s waist. King Ghidorah wrapped his wings around Vickie as the center head came down and nuzzled her.

    “Morning, sleepy,” Vickie smiled.

    Guten Morgen,
King Ghidorah purred in German. Sleep well, Mein Morgenstern?

“I did,” she sighed as she stretched. Vickie let loose a yawn as she rose from the bed. King Ghidorah leaned up, one of his heads grabbing the covers and pulling them over his legs as she lifted off from him. Ever sense he returned to New York, Vickie had been living with him. Also, King Ghidorah had not left his apartment since his return as well. He had been avoiding the media and the crowds. He knew that they would hunt him down, sticking their microphones in his face (or faces) asking him questions then twisting the truth. He wanted no part of it. His show was canceled the day he revealed himself. He had lost his best friend and manager Tom McArthur. He had no friends, no job, but at least he had Vickie. He was the King of Terror, he use to insight fear in the hearts of humans. Why was he now cowering in his apartment because of them? Kaiser Goldstein had gained an image, one that was respected by those who believed in his abilities. Now, he came off as the Defiler of Children. King Ghidorah had no choice but to hide.

King Ghidorah leaned over, resting his center head on Vickie’s shoulder, and leaning the two outer heads on her arms. He wrapped his wings around her again and purred softly. Vickie turned and leaned close to his snout, placing a kiss on his lips. Ghidorah leaned into the kiss, his forked tongue grazing the opening of her mouth. Vickie loved it when his tongue licked her lips. King Ghidorah leaned away, smiling again.

“What are you going to do today, Kaiser?” she asked him.

    Stay in the apartment,
he replied. I can’t go outside. Even if I’m in human form, I can’t go outside.

“I wish you wouldn’t stay in here,” Vickie said. “You’re becoming lethargic. It’s not healthy. That’s all you do is lay in bed all day with your heads under the cover. I mean, yeah, it’s great to cuddle with you and—other things, but you need to get up off your lazy ass and do something besides lay down and watch TV.”

    Which reminds me,
King Ghidorah began as his right outer head turned towards the TV set. The set turned on, controlled by the dragon’s telekinesis. King Ghidorah began to flip through the channels until he came upon the news. There we are. News. I can see what’s going on in the world without leaving the comfort of my apartment.

Vickie rolled her eyes in frustration. She really wanted him to go out, even if it was just to get the mail off the stoop. King Ghidorah watched intently as a scene played across the TV screen. There was a crowd of news cameras focused around a person trying to make his way in. Ghidorah leaned into the TV, recognizing the person who they were crowding around.

    Mien Gott, das ist Tom!
King Ghidorah cried. What is he doing there?

“He’s being hunted by those cameras!” said Vickie.

“Where is Kaiser now?” asked one of the reports.

“How should I know?” asked Tom. “He disappeared. He said that he’ll never return to this planet again!”

“King Ghidorah was reported flying over San Diego a few weeks ago along with Mothra,” said another reporter. “How do you explain that?”

“I don’t know!” cried Tom, struggling to get away from them. “He rarely tells me anything.”

“Did you know about Kaiser’s secret before the incident at your studio?” asked a reporter shoving a microphone near Tom’s ear.

“No!” cried Tom. “I didn’t! He never told me he was really King Ghidorah! I swear I didn’t know.”

“So, you’ve known him all this time, but you’ve never known he was King Ghidorah until a few weeks ago?” asked the same reporter.

“Yes!” cried Tom. “Go away from me! Go away!”

    Tom,
    sighed King Ghidorah.

“You need to save him,” said Vickie. “You need to rescue him from those reporters. He’s your friend.”

He still has a grudge against me,
    King Ghidorah sighed.

“Even if he does, you have to save him, Kaiser,” Vickie leaned against his chest. “You’re his friend.”

    You’re right, Vickie,
said the dragon. You’re right. Lock the doors. Make sure no one comes in, for any reason. I don’t want you to get hurt.

Vickie leaned over and kissed him again. She wrapped her arms around the dragon’s central head. She could hear King Ghidorah purr once more as he pressed his lips against her, kissing her passionately. Then, he moved away and hopped off the bed. The golden dragon’s wings were folded at his sides, trailing beyond his feet and to the part where his tail split into two. He glanced back at her one more time and smiled.

“At least you’re getting out of the house, Kaiser,” Vickie grinned. “And pick me up a bagel with cream cheese while you’re out too!”

Alright, dear, King Ghidorah chuckled. The King of Terror faded away, disappearing from Vickie.

“Good luck, Ghidorah,” Vickie sighed. She turned back to the screen.

“I told you again!” cried Tom. “I don’t know where he is!”

The chaotic scene was broken by a melodious, triple bell call from the sky. Tom felt the wind pick up around him, blowing the papers and the trash around the sidewalk and the streets. His eyes turned towards the sky as well as the eyes of the media and their cameras. They were silent when they saw him appear. King Ghidorah hovered several 100s of feet above him. The broad wings of the enormous dragon flapped slowly, creating the wind that blew across the streets. All of traffic stopped and the people got out just to glance up at the glistening golden dragon.

“Then again, may be I do know where Kaiser is,” Tom breathed.

    Leave him alone,
King Ghidorah snarled into the minds of every reporter there. King Ghidorah threw back his heads and let loose another melodious roar. His wings began to spark up and flash, flickering with electricity. Then, all three heads shot forth, releasing their bolts of deadly golden lightning. The lightning raced and missed Tom, chasing the fleeing reporters down the streets. As soon as they disappeared, King Ghidorah turned back to Tom.

    No thanks are necessary,
    he somberly rumbled.

The space dragon turned away from his friend and began to fly away.

“Kaiser!” cried Tom. King Ghidorah turned back to him and landed in the street. Tom looked up, focusing on the central head. “Where the hell have you been?!”

Hiding in my apartment for the last two weeks,
    King Ghidorah sighed. Where else?

“I thought you were going—well…leaving,” he said. “Going into outer space or so you said.”

    I couldn’t leave Vickie, Tom,
the dragon sighed as he laid down on the sidewalk. And I couldn’t leave you either.

“****, Kaiser,” Tom sighed. “Just answer me this, what made you change? What turned you into a good guy?”

    It’s a long story,
    King Ghidorah said.

“I’ll buy you a drink,” said Tom. “Sugar filled, like you want it.”

The dragon let loose a chuckle and his form shimmered. Tom watched as the dragon’s form shrank down until he was staring at a blonde haired man with ruby eyes. Kaiser smiled.

“All the chocolate and sugar I could have in my latte?” he asked.

    “Sure,” said Tom.

“And that’s the other reason why I can’t leave,” said Kaiser. “Only Earth has the sweets to stave off the hunger for life force and essence. Sugar doesn’t grow on other planets.”

Tom laughed. Kaiser and Tom walked down the street, finally coming to their favorite café.

Kaiser sat down, pouring the sugar packets into his chocolate filled latte. He stopped for a moment just to stir in the sweetness, and then he began to pour again. Tom still could not figure out why Kaiser did that, even if he was King Ghidorah. Did the space dragon have a sweet tooth?

“Do space dragons get diabetic?” Tom asked.

    Kaiser looked up: “Huh?”

“I mean, you drink a lot of sugar filled drinks, you pour sugar into your food,” said Tom. “You like everything that’s sweet. And you’ve been doing that since I’ve known you. Even some of the doctors can’t understand why. And you say you’re diabetic. I mean, isn’t that enough sugar? Aren’t you over doing it?”

“Well, I am not diabetic,” Kaiser said. “But I do need the sugar. I need lots of it. The sweet tooth is a part of the reason why I’m good.”

“You eat sweet stuff, you become a sweet man,” Tom laughed.

“No it isn’t like that,” said Kaiser. “When I returned to Earth, I became extremely powerful. This power was given to me by a space witch—or rather ***** named Deedra.”

    “Space *****,” Tom chuckled.

Kaiser smiled as he sipped his latte: “She—has some sort of fetish about me. Apparently she’s been hunting me down for eons. She’s obsessed. But, she promised me power, and that’s how I gained these powers that I have now—the psionic abilities that I have. Unfortunately, that power came with a price. Besides the fact I had to feed off of the life force and essences of humans…preferably the youth, I had to marry Deedra. Well, I didn’t want to, so right when I was about to destroy Godzilla and Mothra, I turned on Deedra, and attacked her. We fought, but I came out on top—though I was heavily wounded.”

“Okay, so, she ***** slapped you,” began Tom.

“If ***** slapping means I came crashing into Germany, then yes, she did,” Kaiser chuckled.

“Ouch,” Tom gulped. “So what else happened?”

“Well, I knew that she would be looking for me, so I used my ability to shape shift—another ability given by Deedra—to hide myself from her,” he continued. “I found that if I were to keep up the guise of being human, I would have to learn to live like you and never take on my true form again. I knew that if I were to take on my true form, I would reveal to Deedra my location and she would try to hunt me down. The way she sees it that I have two choices. I can either go with her and become her ‘love slave’ or I can die. Becoming human was the best choice I’ve ever made. I was free from Deedra. Then, as time went by, I became human on the inside too. So, I decided to fully complete my transformation into humanity by way of transmutation. I was going to literally turn my body completely human and be rid of my dragon form forever. I would be free from Deedra then. I was willing to do it. But then, Deedra found me. She found me and that’s why we’ve been seeing monsters attack New York. So, in order to save this city, I have to remain a dragon.”

“So that’s why you never told me,” sighed Tom. “You were in hiding.”

“I knew that if I did, it would put you at risk and she could use you to get to me,” Kaiser sighed. “I never meant to hurt you personally. But the way I saw it was—I was trying to make a new life…a life without Deedra. I wanted to leave King Ghidorah with Deedra and become Kaiser Goldstein. I guess even that’s impossible.”

Tom sighed again, leaning back against the chair.

“Believe me, Tom,” began Kaiser. “Under different circumstances, I would have told you when I felt that I could trust you with my secret. But because of Deedra, I knew that if you were to have known about me, you would be in great danger. I was looking at for you.”

Tom nodded, folding his hands around his cup.

“I’m sorry, you know that,” said Kaiser.

“I know you are,” Tom. “At least you’re telling me now. Even if—it was after 10 years. But—I suppose that if I were in the same situation as you, I would do the same thing. She’s really that bad?”

Kaiser chuckled: “The worst. She’s beautiful though, incredibly beautiful, but it’s only skin deep. Once you look into her eyes, you can see the ugliness inside. I wanted nothing to do with her. Even when she touched me, I cringed.”

“You—you and Deedra…you weren’t really—like—close,” began Tom. “I mean…you said she called you her ‘love slave’?”

Kaiser cringed: “I was her—play toy. I’ll leave it like that.”

“Jesus, Kaiser,” grimaced Tom. “You know, you’re right, you’re better off hiding. Quite frankly, I kinda wish you never told me about that. But, truthfulness is the foundation of friendship.”

“Thanks, Tom,” said Kaiser. “I appreciate it.”

Kaiser took another sip of his latte, pouring more sugar in it.

“Okay, so what’s the deal about the sugar then?” asked Tom.

“Well, I knew that stealing the essence of children would disclose my location to Deedra, so I had to find a suitable substitute,” said Kaiser. “I found, after many experiments on human food, that sugar is the only substitute to the life force, soul, and essence of youth. So, there you go. As long as I intake sugar, I will not crave the essence of youth.”

“Keep eating the sugar then,” Tom smiled. “So, you and Vickie together again?”

“Yes,” Kaiser nodded. “She lives with me. I’m trying to hide her from the media too.” His eyes widened. “In fact, I better go to her. I told her not to leave the apartment until I got back. I was afraid something might happen to her.”

Tom handed Kaiser his cell phone.

“Here, call her,” he said. “And tell her to come to the café down the street. She needs to be let out of that place too, you know.”

Kaiser took the phone from Tom and unfolded it. He held it up to his ear…

“Send Gigan down,” said Deedra. “Send him down to Earth as a warning to King Ghidorah.”

    “Just Gigan?” asked Thufor.

Deedra walked down the hallway and into a large bay area. There, Gigan, the space cyborg—sat—awaiting orders from his mistress. Deedra smiled.

“Gigan!” she cried. “You wanted your revenge for what Ghidorah has done to you?”

The beaked cyborg screeched in agreement, rising to his feet.

“I know that Ghidorah is more powerful than you now,” she said. “Don’t fight him, just deliver a message to him.”

Gigan nodded, hefting a sigh. He wanted to fight King Ghidorah. The space dragon humiliated him that day when he came to New York.

“Go, Gigan!” cried Deedra. “But don’t let me stop you if you do get some kicks in.”

Gigan’s face brightened up and he saluted her with his sickle, handless arm. His fins spread and he launched into the dark void of space, speeding towards Earth.

“This will be interesting, Ghidorah will either listen to Gigan or kill him,” said Deedra.

    “Yes, my lady,” nodded Thufor.

“Okay, come right over,” said Kaiser. “Love you too, Vickie.”

He turned off the phone and handed it back to Tom.

“She’s coming over,” said Kaiser. “She’s happy that you and I are talking to each other—and that I got out of the house for once.”

Tom chuckled as he sipped more of his coffee. Kaiser placed the latte up to his lips and drank, licking his lips when he was done.

“So, what are we going to do about the show, Tom?” he asked.

“I don’t know,” Tom sighed. “You’re now the most unpopular guy in the world—along with Saddam Hussein.”

“Great, I’m equal with a terrorist country leader in a desert,” sighed Kaiser.

“I don’t think so,” said Tom. “I think you’re better than him. You’re a great guy, Ghidorah, you just don’t give yourself credit.”

“Danke,” smiled Kaiser. “Große Götter! What a life, ja? We have problems. And I need to find work. What are we going to do without show?”

“Make another show?” asked Tom. “I know, maybe if I get you on a talk show—you could tell the world what you told me. Maybe, that will help our image.”

    “Or ruin it,” sighed Kaiser.

“You know that hiding is making it worse,” said Tom. “If you don’t tell them now, they are going to make up stories, and more stories—and hell—maybe you and I and Vickie should move to outer space. I don’t want anything to do with this either!”

Kaiser sighed and nodded: “Okay, Tom. Who is willing to have me on their show long enough for me to explain everything?”

“I could score something with Jon Steward,” said Tom. “Or Conan O’Brian.”

Kaiser sipped his latte again. His eyes turned as he heard a sound come from the front desk of the café. Someone was screaming. It was the clerk at the front desk.

“Get out of here!” he cried. “Shoo! Get out of here you nasty bug!”

Kaiser’s keen ears picked up a chirp and his head turned towards the sound. He saw a rather unusually large moth flutter around the clerk. The moth was about 3 feet wide—from wing tip to wing tip. The wings of the moth were covered in patterns of pink, white, and some red and green as well. The clerk was trying to swat the moth with his broom. Kaiser rose from his chair, recognizing the moth.

“Stop!” Kaiser cried. “Leave that creature alone, now!”

The moth fluttered towards Kaiser, diving into his chest, trembling. Kaiser rapped his arms around the moth’s body, cradling it.

“You’re King Ghidorah, right?” the clerk asked, recognizing Kaiser’s human face. “That bug a friend of yours?”

“Yes,” said Kaiser. “I’ll pay for the damages she caused. Just don’t hurt her, please?”

Kaiser’s eyes focused on the man’s yes, his breathing becoming steady. In a smooth morph, Kaiser became King Ghidorah. The man was mesmerized by the dragon’s stare. Tom glanced to Ghidorah, then back to the clerk. Then, the man blinked, turning away and returning to his work.

“Just make sure it don’t bother the customers,” said the clerk as he began to sweep the floors behind the desk. Tom looked at King Ghidorah.

“Did you just…” Tom broke off.

It’s called the power of suggestion,
King Ghidorah replied. My will over his. I was just stronger, I guess. Besides, I can’t let him hurt Fairy.

“Fairy?” Tom asked. King Ghidorah opened his wings, revealing the frightened pastel colored moth clutching his chest. Tom leaned over, seeing the unusual moth in King Ghidorah’s wings. “Kaiser, you know some of the strangest characters.”

    This is Fairy Mothra,
said King Ghidorah. The messenger and companion of the Alias. Usually, the Alias are with her.

“The Alias?” asked Tom. “You mean those fairies that ride with Mothra?”

    Yes,
the dragon nodded. King Ghidorah turned back to Fairy. Hallo, Fairy. Wie geht es Ihnen? Has something happen to Mothra?

The moth looked up at the dragon and chirped. The center head of King Ghidorah leaned in, listening to the chirps and whistles of the moth. He made some slight nods as he listened in. Fairy Mothra was disturbed and afraid.

“What did she say?” asked Tom.

She said that Mothra has been sensing Deedra’s movements,
King Ghidorah replied. Something that I haven’t done because I’ve been worried about the press. You say that she’s sending a monster down to find me? What monster?

Fairy chirped. King Ghidorah turned to Tom.

Gigan again, the dragon chuckled. Deedra is sending Gigan all by himself to confront me.

“Why would she want to do that?” asked Tom. “Aren’t you like ten times bigger than Gigan?”

    Ja,
King Ghidorah replied. And I’m 100 times more powerful than him as well. Still, something’s up. I better be on my guard. She may be using Gigan as a distraction for something even bigger.

    Fairy chirped.

Correction, there is something bigger to worry about, King Ghidorah said, picking up Fairy’s comment. Fairy says that Deedra has been busy lately. Mothra’s been sensing Deedra’s activities. She said that the space witch has been using a lot of power lately—for what, Mothra doesn’t know. I can only suspect that Deedra’s been empowering another monster to come down and fight me—either kill me or bring me back to Deedra.

“So, she empowered Gigan?” Tom asked.

    It’s a possibility,
said Ghidorah. But I doubt it. Gigan’s a cyborg, he’s only half living. Psionic powers are for completely living beings. Machines can’t use it. Maybe, she gave him other powers. Anyways, this will be the closure he spoke about.

“Closure?” Tom shook his head in confusion.

Remember when the cockroaches came to Earth? The Nebulans? I was enlisted by them and partnered up with Gigan to make Earth more ‘suitable’ for the roaches.

“In other words, to conquer Earth,” said Tom.

Wundervoll! The dragon complemented. Gigan became a bit attached to me. He considered me his brother. Then, when we flew away to get away from Godzilla, our friendship became rockier. I separated from him and went on my own once more. Gigan wants closure. In a way he’s obsessive like Deedra.

“You know some strange characters,” Tom sighed. “And I do so repeat again!”

King Ghidorah laughed again. He rubbed Fairy on her furry head, comforting the trembling insect with the index digit of his wing.

“So, are you going to go out there and confront him before he reaches New York?” asked Tom.

    Nein,
the dragon shook his heads. I’ll let him come down here unopposed, thinking he’s getting the upper hand by surprising me. But when he gets here, I’ll be ready. King Ghidorah glanced down at Fairy. Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to you, Fairy. It’s okay.

He felt the unusually large moth begin to relax in his wings. He heard her chirp again. Fairy brushed one of her antennae on King Ghidorah’s chest. She glanced up at him, her blue faceted eyes sparkled.

    That’s a good girl,
the King of Terror sighed. I’ll get you back to Mothra Island in a minute right after I deal with Gigan, ja?

The moth nodded. King Ghidorah held her close to him, smiling.

“That is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen,” said Tom.

    What?

“King Ghidorah comforting a pastel colored moth that chirps,” he sighed. “I mean—it just doesn’t fit.”

    Why?
Asked King Ghidorah. I can’t be comforting too? Just because I was once a scourge and a menace to the universe? A demon? I can’t comfort someone who is frightened?

“No, it’s not that,” said Tom. “I mean, it just doesn’t fit. A three headed dragon—and a scary one at that—comforting a pastel moth that looks like she should be a little girl’s cute plush toy. The scene just doesn’t fit. But, okay, you have a soft heart under all those scales.”

    I do,
    he smiled. I do.

King Ghidorah’s keen ears picked up sounds coming from the streets. He could hear people screaming and running. One of his outer heads leaned over, stretching out towards the sounds and looking out the window.

    Uh-oh,
    he whispered. Gigan’s here.

    “He is?” asked Tom. “Where?”

    Follow the screaming.

Tom heard a cry from the street. He saw several people run past the window. Some of them tumbled and were crushed by other more adept runners. The customers inside the café went outside to see what all the screaming was about. Once they saw it, they ran down the street. Even the café clerk went outside and started running. Tom and King Ghidorah walked outside, bracing themselves against the café window. King Ghidorah held Fairy Mothra close to him. Rays of red shot out from the sky, causing massive explosions. Several buildings exploded, sending debris up into the air.

    Ja, Gigan’s here,
King Ghidorah sighed. Deedra must have made his eye laser more powerful. He couldn’t cause that powerful of an explosion with it before. But he’s still the same size.

“Some times little people are trouble too,” called Tom. His head turned towards an explosion and ducked just as several cars on the street went flying. “You better do something!”

    Here, take Fairy!
King Ghidorah cried as he handed the little moth over to Tom. King Ghidorah’s center head came down to her. Now, Fairy, you stay with my friend Tom. He’ll take care of you. I have to go fight Gigan, okay?

The moth chirped. King Ghidorah smiled.

She says she’ll stay with you,
    he told Tom.

“That’s great,” Tom called over the destruction. “But now you go do your job, Hero of New York! You fight on our side now!”

    Damn right I do!
    King Ghidorah laughed.

“Good luck, Kaiser,” he chuckled as he watched the space dragon grow to his true form. King Ghidorah glanced down.

    It’s King Ghidorah,
he corrected. And don’t you for get it!

King Ghidorah glanced back, seeing Gigan land on the ruined scene. Smoke billowed around the monster as he slowly crept up to the dragon. King Ghidorah extended his broad, bat-like wings. The membranes shimmered elegantly in the light. He let loose a low snarl, his lips curled up around his dagger-like teeth. King Ghidorah got on all fours, using his wings like forelegs as he walked over the rubble and flames.

    “Ghidorah,”
snorted Gigan. Once more, he was speaking in a voice that only Ghidorah could understand. “Surprised to see me?”

    “Yes,”
King Ghidorah hissed, speaking in the same language. “In a way. But I knew you were coming, Gigan. You can’t hide your thoughts from me.”

“She sent me down to you,”
the cyborg began. “An ultimatum. You come back, or you die.”

    “I figured as much,”
the dragon smiled fiendishly. “But I laugh at her threats. You’re nothing compared to me.”

King Ghidorah arched his necks up high, hissing deeply. His forked tongues flickered out as he hissed. Although he was on all fours, he was still several times taller than Gigan.

    “You don’t scare me,”
Gigan growled as he stepped back to get a better view of King Ghidorah.

King Ghidorah chuckled. He leaned down towards the small cyborg, his red eyes narrowing.

“If you are done with your message…”
the dragon hissed once more. Ghidorah stared at Gigan intently, his eyes focusing deep into Gigan’s mind. “What is this…monster that will bring me to Deedra, Gigan?”

    “No monster…”
Gigan shook his head, his single eye widened. His ears began to ring.

    “You’re lying!”
King Ghidorah leaned down to Gigan, taking a sniff of him with his center head. The forked tongue of the center head lashed out, licking its lips. Gigan stepped back, feeling an emotion he was not use to—fear. Ghidorah laughed: “I thought you were not afraid of me, Gigan.”

    “I—I’m not…”

“Then, why are you backing away from me?”
King Ghidorah came forward, his wing slamming down near Gigan’s side, preventing him from escape. The space dragon literally towered over him. “You won’t escape…you are far too valuable to let go.”

Gigan shook his head, not understanding what King Ghidorah. The dragon’s eyes flashed and the cyborg felt a squeeze upon his mind. He felt a punch slam against his brain and Gigan fell to the ground, unconscious. King Ghidorah hissed, leaning a way from the cyborg. He glanced down at Tom and Fairy.

“What the hell did you do to him?” Tom asked.

    I hit him, mentally,
King Ghidorah replied with his mental voice. He’s unconscious. He knows something. I did not want to fight him—endangering lives here. Besides, with a mind as simple as Gigan, it’s easy to smack to unconsciousness without having to physically do it.

“Okay,” Tom shrugged. “What are you going to do with him?”

I was thinking about taking him home with me for some interrogation,
he replied with a slight smile.

“You’ve got to be joking, Ghidorah!” cried Tom. “That’s Gigan! He won’t fit in your apartment!”

Ghidorah chuckled. He knelt over and picked up the limp body with the slender, opposable claw on his wing. All three of his heads dipped down and he began to concentrate. His golden glow encompassed Gigan’s form and both monsters slowly began to shrink. Tom stared with wide eyes as the two towering giants soon became human sized. King Ghidorah quickly reverted back to his human form. He placed Gigan’s arm around his neck and dragged him over to Tom.

    “How’s this?” Ghidorah—Kaiser asked.

“Okay,” said Tom. “That solves that problem. But won’t Deedra be looking for him?”

“I want her to look for him,” said Kaiser. “And I want her to send whatever monster after me as well. I’ll prove to her once and for all that I am not afraid. I want to be left alone.”

Tom nodded, then he glanced at the human sized Gigan: “What about him? How long will he stay unconscious?”

“Not long,” said Kaiser. “Let’s tie him up and…blindfold him.”

    “Why?”

    “Eye laser,” he replied.

    “Oh,” nodded Tom. “Eye laser?!”

“Don’t worry,” smiled Kaiser. “He can’t see, he can’t shoot. Tie his arms up too. And we’ll need to sheath his sickles as well—just in case.”

“You’re gonna just magic the stuff we need to keep this guy tied up?” asked Tom. “Because I don’t have any rope or anything else.”

“No,” Kaiser sighed. He glanced over to some scaffolding on the building over. He noticed there was some rope hanging down from the wooden planks. Kaiser’s eyes narrowed and the rope disappeared, only to reappear in his hand. He smiled at Tom: “Here we go. Rope, enough to tie him up and to gag him.”

“How the hell did you do that?” Tom asked.

“Magician never tells his secret,” smiled Kaiser.

Deedra leaned back from the screen, sighing. Thufor glanced back his twisted face grinning a bit.

    “He has Gigan,” Thufor said.

“I know,” Deedra said. “He’s trying to force me out.”

“Might as well just do it,” Thufor began. “Kaiser is a very powerful being now. You’ve made him that way.”

“Kaiser?” Deedra asked, turning around with a shocked expression on her face. “You call him by his human first name?”

“Seems fitting, doesn’t it?” Thufor asked. “That King Ghidorah would call himself Kaiser. It means ‘emperor’ in German, you know—ultimate ruler. Emperor Ghidorah. Fitting for him—for his new powers and abilities. He has evolved beyond even us now—completely free from control. Now he controls—Emperor Ghidorah.”

“Silence!” Deedra cried. “That’s enough of that. Prepare Space Godzilla. We’re attacking before Ghidorah can find out anything else from that dimwitted fool—Gigan!”

From within the bowls of the station, a tube opened up. For the first time, he breathed on his own, taking in the air around him. He opened his eyes to the world. Around him was silence and steel. Space Godzilla stepped out of his crystalline womb and stretched. He had within his mind the knowledge of his father—King Ghidorah. His blue scales gave off a golden cast and his eyes flashed with blood. He glanced down.

“Space Godzilla,” began the voice who had been whispering to him from the moment he was conceived. “Come to me, come to your mother.”

What is it you will of me?
    Space Godzilla asked.

“You know your father?” she asked him. “You know who he is?”

    Ghidorah,
he replied. A great and powerful golden dragon with 3 heads.

“You know what he has become?” Deedra asked.

    A traitor,
    he replied.

“A father should be here taking care of me, not away and—being a cheat and going out with human floozies,” she cried. “Go, bring him back here, if he refuses, kill him and bring his body back to me. I can reanimate him afterwards.”

    Yes, Mother…
the bluish colored monster bowed as he walked out towards the opening of the space dock.

“He has all the powers of Godzilla and the mental powers of his father King Ghidorah,” she smiled. “Let’s see how ‘Kaiser’ fairs against him.”

“I was heading out to meet you guys,” began Vickie. “What’s going on?”

“Get a chair,” Kaiser called. “Quickly.”

Vickie backed away from the door seeing the two men walk in with a strange looking creature hanging from their shoulders. She recognized him as Gigan, but he was human-sized. She brought a chair over and Kaiser sat Gigan down on it, tying his sickle arms to the back. Gigan thrashed about, screeching and squawking. Behind him was a tiny, brightly colored moth.

“Okay, would someone mind tell me why there’s a human-sized Gigan here?” Vickie asked.

    “He’s my prisoner,” Kaiser smiled.

“I heard on the news report that he attacked and you intervened,” she began.

“Media’s quick,” Tom chuckled. “Too quick. Yeah, he attacked, Kaiser got up there and knocked him unconscious and now, he’s our prisoner.”

“Great,” Vickie sighed. “Just make sure he doesn’t blow up everything.”

“It’s my apartment,” Kaiser grinned. “I’ll say what gets blown up around here. Now…”

He reached up and snatched the blindfold from Gigan’s singular, red eye. Gigan squawked and blinked, staring at the human with stunned shock.

“Surprised to see me, aren’t you?” Kaiser grinned. “If you decide to try and burn me with your laser, I’ll make it to where your head ends up on your ass. Verstehen?”

    Gigan nodded.

“Gut!” Kaiser chuckled. “Now, mein kleiner Freund, did Deedra upgrade you in any way?”

    Gigan squawked, shaking his head.

“What did he say?” Tom asked.

“He said ‘no’,” Kaiser replied. “Alright, then, what is this monster?”

Gigan began to squawk and chirp, Kaiser listening in to what he was saying. Then, Kaiser’s eyes widened.

“What?” asked Vickie. “What did he say?”

“Nein,” Kaiser breathed. “Das ist unmöglich!”

“What?” Tom asked. “Stop speaking German and tell me what he said!”

“He said I have a son,” Kaiser said. “I—can’t have a son. I have no mate.”

“Deedra,” Vickie began. “You had Deedra one time.”

“Ja,” he sighed. “But I never did anything with her. Vickie, I never did a thing with her. I was too disgusted by how she clung onto me constantly. She creeped me out! I never had son with her, täuschen! Nie! You lie, Gigan!”

Gigan squawked again, chuckling. Kaiser’s ruddy red-brown eyes narrowed and his lip pulled back into a snarl. He reared back and slammed his fist into Gigan’s cheek, knocking the cyborg monster over in his chair. Kaiser held his hand close to his chest, forgetting that in his human form he also had the strengths and weaknesses of a human. His knuckles ached from the punch, but he had the satisfaction that he at least knocked Gigan over.

    “Kaiser!” Tom cried. “Jesus Christ!”

“Ghidorah,” Vickie called as she rushed to his side. She noticed that his hand now had sore places on it and it began to bleed a little around those areas. “You’re bleeding. I’ll get some ointment.”

“Don’t bother,” Kaiser sighed. His form shifted and he once more took on his dragon form. His hand became the wrist of his wing, and it no longer bled. With the tiny, dexterous claws on his wings, he reached down and grabbed Gigan, pulling him back up.

“Now, tell me, you poor excuse for a living being,”
King Ghidorah hissed. “What has Deedra created? If it is my son, how did it get to be my son?”

“Why don’t you just pry into my mind and find out, Ghidorah?” Gigan hissed back.

    “I think I will,”
the space dragon grinned. He closed his eyes and focused on Gigan’s mind and memories. He began to project these thoughts into Tom and Vickie’s minds. She—had a sample of my cells and a sample of Godzilla’s cells. She cloned a monster from these. Space Godzilla…

“Space Godzilla?” asked Vickie. “So, it’s Godzilla’s son as well?”

“That don’t sound right,” Tom sighed. “But cloning…”

To create a monster that is the embodiment of my favorite foe,
began Ghidorah as he turned back to the humans. But have all the powers that I possess. Another monster created from some part of me…

“What?” Vickie asked. “What do you mean by that, Kaiser?”

Ghidorah’s form shifted again and he returned to his human form. Kaiser walked over to the couch and plopped down upon it, sighing.

“There was another,” he began. “A dark creature created from the dark energy I gave off. A piece of me was cut off long ago, and it created a monster from it. I’ve heard legends call it Desughidorah—or Desthdrah, or something like that. Called it my son as well.”

“How does just a section of you grow into something else?” asked Tom. “That’s insane. Is that how people on your planet procreate?”

“Don’t be ridiculous!” Kaiser laughed. “We did it the same way you all do. But I have so much power inside me that anything that gets section off grows into something else. It’s like I’m some kind of damned ameba! It’s nothing I can control. And since I was evil at that time, the thing that buds off of me turns out to be nasty!”

“Kaiser,” began Tom. “Don’t ever cut your hair. I don’t want some hairy dragon-monster destroying the city or something.”

“It only happens when I’m in my dragon form, Tom,” Kaiser said. “I’ve gotten my hair cut many times in my human form and nothing grew from that.”

“How do you know?” Tom asked. “There could be some creepy, hairy monster in the sewers lurking around, just waiting to strike. All thanks to you, Kaiser.”

Kaiser shook his head, rolling his eyes.

“That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard,” Kaiser snorted. “Look. It only happens when I am in my dragon form. You just have to trust that.”

“But why does it happen?” Vickie asked.

“So I could build an army that is under my control,” Kaiser grinned a bit fiendishly. “A technique I learned long ago. They are a part of me, and they are mine to control.”

“So, if this Space Godzilla was created from a piece of you, then you could control it too,” began Tom.

    “I don’t know,” he sighed.

    “Why?”

“Because Deedra took a piece of me and a piece of Godzilla and created that creature,” he replied. “Her will over him might be stronger than mine.”

“That’s right,” Vickie began. “Deedra is more powerful than you.”

“Remember, Tom,” began Kaiser. “I barely survived when I fought her, and the only reason why I’m alive was because I retreated.”

He turned for a moment, hearing the sound of Gigan grumble.

“Ruhe!” he called. “I’ll hear nothing from you.”

“What did he say that time?” Vickie asked.

“You don’t want to know, Vickie,” Kaiser sighed. “Tom, that thing’s coming down here. I’m going to have to fight it.”

“I know,” Tom said. “Why are you saying this?”

“Our reputation?” Kaiser began. “How much money would our old station pay to get the first footage of King Ghidorah saving New York from a horrible monster as Space Godzilla?”

“How much money would our old station make from such footage?” Tom asked. “I get your point. We could use this.”

“My slate will be on its way to getting clean,” Kaiser grinned.

“I can just see the headlines,” Tom chuckled. “‘King Ghidorah, Savior of New York’.”

“Friend to children and puppies all around the world!” Kaiser cried. The two began to laugh in the scheming.

“You guys are despicable,” Vickie snorted. “Here the city is in danger and you two are thinking about your fame, reputation, and what the headlines will say in the next morning.”

“What do you expect?” Tom asked. “I have to think about my client and his fame. Turning infamous into famous, right KG?”

    “Ja,” Kaiser nodded.

    “You won’t win,”
    Gigan snarled.

“We’ll see about that,” Kaiser smiled.

“With this new development, and you winning this battle,” began Tom. “We could have our old show back. They would want us on every talk show, knowing that King Ghidorah is on their side and they wanna know how they got there. This could be the exact thing we need to solve our problem.”

    “No more hiding,” Kaiser sighed.

“Good things from here on out,” Tom grinned. “King Ghidorah, I never thought that name of yours would be making me money.”

    Vickie still rolled her eyes.

Godzilla rose out of the North Atlantic Ocean, glancing around. Something called him to this side of the world. The Atlantic Ocean was not familiar ground to him. It was also deeper than he was used to. He sensed the presence of another, something that called him. He knew though that King Ghidorah was near here. He heard from Rodan and others that King Ghidorah was in a human settlement known as New York City. So far, the mighty King of Terror had not been causing trouble there. Though, it would be great to challenge him again since the last time they fought King Ghidorah completely humiliated him—leaving him to die feeble and weakened. The space dragon did not even have the courtesy to kill him, saving him from such pain. Die by combat was the honorable way to go, even if it meant defeat. But also dying by combat would mean Godzilla won. King Ghidorah would be left alive, to live on, haunted by Godzilla’s death. But King Ghidorah left him there to die, and so King Ghidorah won that battle. Godzilla had to live on with his humiliation, wanting to die, but did not. He spoke to Mothra recently, hearing that King Ghidorah went back up to fight the strange being who brought him back to Earth. He heard he also lost that fight, crashing into a landmass known as Europe. King Ghidorah disappeared after that. Godzilla heard that he has resurfaced, now living in New York. So, how was King Ghidorah living in New York and not causing any problems?

Godzilla continued to swim on until he saw the lights of Manhattan glowing over the horizon. For the moment, he wanted to make sure his presence was not known to the humans yet. As Godzilla swam on, he caught a human advertisement billboard floating on a raft. The billboard was massive. Usually, these human things would not matter much to Godzilla, but for some strange reason, he had to look at it. His eyes caught why the billboard was so important. It had the picture of King Ghidorah on it.

    “King Ghidorah?”
Godzilla rumbled out. He could not understand the strange writings that humans used. Though, he did understand the crowd of humans standing around King Ghidorah with their noise gathering sticks—humans called them microphones—shoving them up towards King Ghidorah, demanding explanations. It seems that the people of this New York City worshipped King Ghidorah, or were just not afraid of him. Godzilla move towards the billboard, seeing the expression of King Ghidorah in the picture. The space dragon obviously did not want them to crowd around him. He could tell King Ghidorah seemed to fear them around him. So, perhaps they were not worshipping him after all. King Ghidorah feared them, but they did not fear him. Something did not seem right. Humans were always afraid of monsters, so why was this different? Godzilla dove back into the water, passing the billboard. He saw a flash of light from the water and his poked his head out. Something crashed into the city. It was the thing that called him. Godzilla finally rose up from the water, setting foot on Manhattan Island. Water dripped from his spiny scales and his massive, angular, crooked dorsal spines. He slowly began to walk towards the crash site.

“What was that?” Tom asked, feeling the apartment shake underneath him.

“Kaiser?!” Vicky called, flinging herself onto Kaiser, throwing her arms around him. She buried her face into his chest. The apartment continued to quake underneath them.

    “He’s here…” Gigan chirped.

Kaiser turned, hearing Fair Mothra chirp to him. The moth fluttered onto his head and held on as well, shaking. The apartment continued to shake, and Kaiser lost his composure, shifting back into King Ghidorah.

    Jeder, erhalten weg von mir!
Ghidorah cried. (Everyone, get off of me!)

“We can’t stay here,” Tom called.

Ghidorah turned when he heard something crash and break from one of his shelves. It was one of his oriental eggs he collected.

    Ach!
King Ghidorah roared out. Mein Führer, ich verspreche, daß ich sie für dieses töte! (My Lord! I swear I will kill her for this!) My priceless painted eggs from Siam! Zur Hölle mit Deedra!

    Gigan chuckled.

    “Kush mër in toches, Gigan!”
Ghidorah roared out, not realizing he mixed the language of monsters with German.

“Kaiser, what the hell do we do?” Tom asked.

    Don’t ask me!
The dragon called out. I’m just as freaked out as you!

“You’re King Ghidorah, Kaiser!” Tom roared, grabbing one of Ghidorah’s heads and bring it close to him. “Do something!”

How about I cash in my deposit for my apartment!
    The dragon called back.

“How about going out there and see what that is!” Tom roared at him.

And leave you and Vicky stuck with Gigan, you think I’m that crazy?!
    Ghidorah snapped at him.

“This apartment complex feels like it’s about to come down, Kaiser,” began Vickie. “What ever caused that wants to destroy it.”

    It’s Space Godzilla!
King Ghidorah called. Tom, get Gigan and Fairy. Everyone come into my wings. I’ll teleport us out of here!

Tom grabbed Gigan and drug him over towards King Ghidorah and took Fairy into his arms. King Ghidorah concentrated and they disappeared. When they came outside, Ghidorah looked up, seeing a blue scaled, Godzilla-like creature standing over the rubble that was once the apartment complex.

    My home!
King Ghidorah swallowed. My entertainment system…Verdammen Sie es zu gesprengter Hölle!

“You’re worried about your TV set?!” Vickie cried at the top of her lungs. “Kaiser!”

I spent hours trying to program that damned thing!
King Ghidorah cried. All my Barbara Walters tapes are gone!

Vickie stared at him, dumbfounded. Tom laughed.

“He has a small fetish about Barbara Walters,” Tom chuckled.

What can I say? Ghidorah smiled. Her witty commentary gets me all frisky at times.

Vickie let loose a grunt and kicked the space dragon in a spot where she should not have. King Ghidorah’s six eyes crossed and he fell over. Vickie grunted again, crossing her arms and sighing.

    I’m sorry Vickie…
Ghidorah pleaded, his mental voice becoming a high-pitched squeak. Really, I am.

“Shut up,” she sighed. “The city is in danger from your son and you’re worried about your Barbara Walters tapes! Disgusting!”

King Ghidorah crawled up onto his knees, wrapping his wings around Vickie’s waist. His outer necks wrapped around her shoulders and his center head drew close.

    Vickie…everyone has faults…
he purred into her head. Vickie seemed to melt in his handsome gaze.

“I hate it when you do that…” she breathed, leaning up and planting a soft kiss on the dragon’s lips.

“Okay, you two turtle doves!” cried Tom. “That thing’s gotta go! Kasier!”

Ghidorah held Vickie close when he heard another explosion. Space Godzilla roared out in pain as a blue beam raked across his crystalline back. For some reason, he did not even notice King Ghidorah and the others below him. Ghidorah glanced up, his eyes wide when he saw the blue beam.

    Godzilla!
He called. That was Godzilla’s heat ray!

“Godzilla?” asked Tom. “What the hell is he doing here in New York.

    “Space Godzilla called him,”
Gigan informed. King Ghidorah glanced back, with wide eyes.

“What did he say?” asked Vickie.

    Space Godzilla brought Godzilla here,
King Ghidorah replied. Vickie, Tom, take Gigan and Fairy away from here. He turned to Gigan. “If you harm them, not even death will save you from the agony I shall inflict upon your fragile, frail, mind. Understand?”

Gigan nodded as Tom began to untie him.

“Take them and protect them, Gigan!”
King Ghidorah called as he disappeared.

Gigan squawked for the humans and the moth to follow him. They dashed off, escaping from the two battling, giant monsters. For Gigan, this was an odd feeling. He never ran from other monsters before, unless he was defeated in battle. He, especially, never ran along with humans away from the battle. This had never happened before. Being human-sized was a different perspective to him. He wondered how King Ghidorah got used to it. He knew if he did what the space dragon said, King Ghidorah might reward him by returning him back to his normal size. So, for now, he decided to protect these humans as best as he could, even if it was against his better judgment. He led them into an alley, seeing a crowd of humans stampede down the street. They were running from Space Godzilla’s battle with Godzilla.

    “Great!” Vickie called. “Traffic!”

“They’re leaving the city,” said Tom. “We should too.”

Gigan could understand human speech and he nodded in agreement.

“I’m not leaving Kaiser!” Vickie called.

“He can handle himself,” Tom said. “He’s the most powerful monster out there now.”

Gigan turned to the sounds of the crowd. He heard policemen sound their whistles and sirens, trying desperately to direct the people to a safe place out of the city.

“Brooklyn Bridge is probably jammed,” said Tom. “The Tunnel…no way. Where can we go?”

“Follow them,” began a very scratchy voice. Tom and Vickie turned to Gigan, realizing that he just replied in a language they could understand. Gigan pointed with his sickle arm. “You follow them. Safer.”

“Follow them?” Tom asked. “We’ll get trampled.”

“No,” Gigan shook his head. “Safer. We follow humans. Human in uniform know where safe.”

“Yeah, but you could get captured,” Vickie said.

Gigan’s red optic lit up in surprised. This was the first time a human actually was worried about him. He slowly began to understand why Ghidorah cared so much about them now.

“Won’t get captured,” Gigan said. “You go…I go. Promised King Ghidorah. Humans be safe with Gigan. Come. Follow human in uniform. Him not know difference. Him stupid.”

“Wouldn’t go calling him that if I were you,” Vickie shook her head.

“Human female funny,” Gigan chuckled. “Make up story. Human female smart.”

“Yes,” Tom nodded. “Human female very smart. Human female is a lawyer and passed very hard bar exam.”

    “Oh, shut up,” Vickie snorted.

“Human female really lizard in disguise?” Gigan asked, confused.

“See, even Gigan knows what a lawyer is,” Tom chuckled.

“Oh, give me a break!” Vickie grunted.

“Then, female make perfect mate for Ghidorah,” Gigan grinned.

“Jesus Christ,” she sighed. “And where the hell did you learn how to speak English anyways, you metal chicken?”

“Human talk,” Gigan began. “Gigan listens. Gigan is also smart. Gigan is cyborg. Machine learn much.”

“He’s a learning machine,” Tom said. “Like an AI system.”

“Never thought of him like that,” Vickie said. “Kaiser never said much about it.” She turned Gigan towards her. “Look, we have names, you know. I’m Vickie, he’s Tom. And Ghidorah is Kaiser. If you haven’t noticed…”

“I call you name, you no call me chicken, okay?” Gigan asked. “You call me Gigan.”

    “Okay,” Vickie said.

“Me Tarzan, you Jane,” Tom chuckled.

“What Tarzan?” Gigan asked. “Vickie female said you Tom.”

    “Never mind,” Tom sighed.

“Stop confusing him,” Vickie snorted, slapping Tom in the stomach.

    “Yes, ma’am,” Tom chuckled.

“Human in uniform leaving!” Gigan called, seeing the policemen walk away as soon as the streets were emptied. “Tom and Vickie follow Gigan!”

The three darted towards the police officers as they started to get into their cars. The one of the officers saw them running up to them.

“Hey!” called Tom. “We need out of the city too!”

The officer lifted his communicator up and began to speak into it.

“I found more people to evacuate,” he informed some of the others. “A man, a woman, and some strange looking thing…”

    “Me Gigan,” Gigan corrected.

“Uh, he’s pretending to be Gigan,” began Vickie. “He’s in a costume. We just got back from a costume party.”

“I’m Tom McArthur,” began Tom. “Producer of To the Other Side with Kaiser Goldstein and his agent as well.”

“So, where’s you three-headed dragon star?” the officer asked. “He needs to be evacuated too.”

“King Ghidorah is monster,” said Gigan. “He fight. He no leave like humans. He no flee. He no coward.”

“Kaiser is going to fight those two monsters?” the officer asked. “This some sort of media joke you two cooking up?”

“I swear, Kaiser didn’t call Godzilla over for a fight,” Tom chuckled. “This isn’t his fault.”

“Station,” began the officer into his communicator. “I’ve got Tom McArthur here with me. You know who he is right?”

“Yeah,” they heard the voice through the speaker. “He’s King Ghidorah’s producer for his psychic show.”

“He says that Kaiser is going to fight the two monsters, save our town, and reap the rewards afterwards,” the officer continued. “Can you believe that?”

“If that three-headed dragon’s got an afternoon psychic talk show, I’ll believe anything,” the voice laughed. “What does he want?”

“Mr. McArthur and company wish for an escort out of town from the monster fight,” he began in a cocky tone.

“What?” the man cried over the speaker. “Can’t their space dragon celebrity protect them?”

“He says King Ghidorah is fighting Godzilla and this other monster,” he replied. “So, they want us to escort them out while he fights.”

“Tell Mr. McArthur and company that we don’t give rides to anyone who’s friends with that dragon!”

“What?!” cried Tom. “Kaiser and I pay taxes! Now, get us outta here!”

“Sorry, train’s full,” the officer smiled. “Maybe the next district can help you.”

The officer hopped into his car and started to drive off.

“Hey!” cried Vickie. “What ever the hell happened to protect the innocent?”

“If you see any innocent,” began the officer with a chuckle. “Call the station, we’ll be over to protect them. Bye. Have fun with your monster friends.”

They watched as the car sped away, disappearing into the steam rising out of the vents.

“See, policeman stupid,” Gigan said. “Him no help. What kind of person he be? He leave you behind.”

“I thought you said that he wouldn’t know the difference,” Vickie began.

“Big-mouth human Tom said he friends with Kaiser/King Ghidorah,” Gigan shrugged. “He know difference then.”

“Big-mouth?!” cried Tom. “Look, he would’ve found out anyways, my face is all over the place—news, radios, talk shows. So’s Kaiser!”

“He find out when too late to do anything about it,” Gigan began. “You no say anything then, he no find out until later.”

Tom snorted again. His head turned towards a loud ringing bell call and the sky was ignited with a bright, blinding, golden flash. He glanced up to the sky, seeing King Ghidorah’s mighty form gather up the energy around him, sending it hurtling down towards Space Godzilla.

“King Ghidorah now in fight,” Gigan informed. “We must flee.”

“Tom, don’t you have a car?” Vickie asked.

“Sold it,” Tom sighed. The ground began to quake underneath them. He glanced up again, seeing King Ghidorah leap up into the air, landing and sliding towards them. Pavement and ground slung out from underneath his claws as he landed. The enormous, winged, golden space dragon glanced down at his friends below.

What the hell are you still doing here?
    He roared out.

“We can’t get a ride out of the city,” Vickie called.

    Where’s the cops?
    King Ghidorah asked.

“They said they don’t help those who are friends with you, Kaiser,” said Tom. “Damned fancy, says I.”

    Dumme Idioten,
he sighed. And I pay taxes! Damn…

“King Ghidorah, if you would return me to my natural size, I could fly them out of here,”
    began Gigan.

    “Was?”
King Ghidorah snorted. “Nein, forget it!”

    “Why?”
    Gigan asked.

    “I don’t trust you,”
King Ghidorah shook his heads. I will not make you large again.

“Kaiser,” began Vickie. “If you could, he could fly us out. I trust him.”

    He’s a scoundrel, Vickie!
    The space dragon cried.

“So were you, remember?” she asked. “And you asked me to trust you after you lied—to me—to the world. So, trust him.”

    I’m different,
    he protested.

“So different from him?” she asked. “If you learned to be good, so can he. And something tells me he can.”

    “Give me a chance, Ghidorah!”
called Gigan. “For old times’ sake! We were friends once. Come on!”

King Ghidorah turned around, hearing Godzilla’s roar.

    “Godzilla!”
King Ghidorah roared out. Godzilla came crawling on his hands and knees. The great ‘King of the Monsters’ glanced up at the much larger space dragon accusingly.

    “You brought that monster!”
he roared. “He has your powers.”

    “If you haven’t noticed, shlamozel,”
began King Ghidorah. “He looks a lot like you as well. We’re both to blame. Now, stop fighting me and join me.”

    “I’ll never join you!”
the mutated dinosaur cried. “You killed, murdered my kind! My mate! How dare you say I should join you! You humiliated me twice!”

    Deedra wants you, father,
King Ghidorah heard Space Godzilla spit into his mind. Dead or alive.

    “Better off dead, I say!”
    Godzilla snorted.

King Ghidorah’s eyes widened when he saw Space Godzilla’s crystal on his head light up. He leaned up and crouched over Godzilla’s battered form, folding his brilliantly shining, golden wings over the dinosaur’s body. He felt the power of Space Godzilla’s corona beam splinter across his golden scales. With ever damage he took in, King Ghidorah began to draw the energy into himself. Godzilla’s eyes were wide, seeing how his age old rival was protecting him with his very body.

“I weep for every death I have caused, Godzilla,”
King Ghidorah whispered. “You have to believe me.”

    “Ghidorah!”
called Gigan. “What about us? Vickie and Tom!”

King Ghidorah turned one of his heads towards the cyborg, his eyes were wide. Gigan called them by their first names.

    All right!
King Ghidorah cried. “Lauya úvëa úra le a man î néa lîn!” (Grow large and become who you were!)

Gigan felt strange at first as his body stretched itself out, reaching its true size. One moment he was looking at the humans, the next, they were at his toes.

“Now do as you promised and get them out of here!”
    the dragon roared.

Gigan knelt down and scooped the smaller beings into his claws. He hoisted them up to his neck and fanned his fins on his back.

“Kick him in the nuts, Kaiser!”
cried Vickie as Gigan began to fly away.
    [/i]
Oh, like you kicked me there? [/i]King Ghidorah asked.

“I’m sorry I did, Kaiser,” she called. “I’m sorry I got mad at your crush on Barbara Walters.”

I’m sorry I got mad at your crush on Mathew Perry!
King Ghidorah cried after her. If I live through this, I’ll buy you the Friends DVD box set!

“If you live through this, you and I are not coming out of that room for the rest of the night, if you know what I mean!” Vickie laughed as Gigan faded off into the distance.

    “Ich habe Sex heute abend!”
King Ghidorah roared, though luckily he roared it in German.

“Do you mind getting off of me?”
Godzilla asked. “You’re scales are prickly.”

“Oh, don’t be such a baby, mein kleiner Eidechsefreund,”
    King Ghidorah chuckled.

    “I just realized something,”
    he sighed. “German suits you.”

    “Danke sehr,”
    King Ghidorah grinned.

When you two are through with your lovemaking, I wish to continue this fight,
    Space Godzilla began.

“Listen to him with his Tandaitneh Tararam drek!”
King Ghidorah snorted. “Is that any way to talk to your father(s)?!”

“You think that I will help you in this?”
    Godzilla asked.

“Do you have a choice, Godzilla?”
King Ghidorah asked. “Das Weibchen used both our cells to create that thing!”

Space Godzilla grinned, listening to them talk. His eyes closed and he concentrated on King Ghidorah’s body. Though it was heavy, he was strong enough to lift it with his mind. The crystals on his shoulders flashed with blue light, strange electric energy fluctuated about his shoulders. King Ghidorah glanced back, his eyes were wide when he felt his form rise up from the ground.

“Was ist dieses? Gelassen gehen von mir!”
he roared out. (What is this? Let go of me!)

King Ghidorah’s eyes flashed and Space Godzilla flinched as pain fiercely attacked his head. The strange cloned monster roared out in agony, holding his head. His tail flailed wildly as he staggered back, clawing the air.

“Und that is what you get for picking me up, you dumm putz!”
    King Ghidorah cried.

King Ghidorah landed down beside Godzilla, seeing how wounded he was. His regenerative abilities were not working fast enough to compensate for the wounds Space Godzilla inflicted upon him.

    “I can heal you,”
King Ghidorah informed. “If you’ll let me.”

    “I don’t need your charity,”
    Godzilla snorted.

    “What charity?”
Ghidorah asked. “I’m offering my help and you’d a shmegegi for passing it up!”

Godzilla grunted, sighing and blinking, trying to keep himself conscious.

“Look, put our difference behind you,”
the dragon began. “I have. I’m different now. I’m not that horrible creature you met so long ago. This town, its my town. I don’t want it destroyed. I have no home to go to. You are Godzilla, King of the Monsters! You protect the people of this planet—their homes from shmoks like that! Now, I’m one of them. So, protect my home! I’m begging you! Let me help you so you can help me.”

“You called me the King of the Monsters,”
Godzilla began, his eyes wide. “You—you said that title wasn’t even appropriate for me. I was nothing more than an animal to you.”

    “I make mistake!”
King Ghidorah. “Ja, true. I was a king once. Now, I have no kingdom. I have nothing! All I have is a stupid TV show where I try to console the people who lost their loved ones. That’s it! You do more! Now, please, do something for me. Please. I am willing to give you a fighting chance.”

Godzilla sighed a bit and thought. Then, he glanced up, seeing Space Godzilla overcome King Ghidorah’s psychic attack.

“Only if you say ‘please’ in German,”
Godzilla glanced back, grinning a toothy smile.

    “What?”
King Ghidorah asked. “Okay, fine. Helfen mir bitte, Godzilla? Bitte?”

“How do you say ‘I will’ in German?”
    he asked.

“Why do you want to know German?”
    King Ghidorah asked.

    “Just do it,”
    Godzilla grinned again.

    “Okay, fine!”
the dragon grunted. “This is how you say it…Ich werde.”

    “Ich werde,”
    Godzilla replied.

    “Ach,”
King Ghidorah sighed. “Don’t know why you want to know German. Oh well… Lassen Sie uns gehen Stoß seine toches!” (Let’s go kick his ass!)

“What ever you said, you said it, King Ghidorah,”
    Godzilla chuckled.

Space Godzilla lifted up, his head clearing. He grunted and leapt towards the two other monsters, firing his corona beam at both of them. The twin electrical beams splintered and forked off, striking both. King Ghidorah leaned over again, covering Godzilla with his wings. He began to whisper, concentrating on his mental powers and extending out his healing abilities to Godzilla. He began to help Godzilla’s regeneration process. Godzilla’s pain slowly went away and he was able to stand again. King Ghidorah reared back, letting loose one of his own bolts towards the cloned monster. Space Godzilla grinned as a shield came up around his body, blocking the energy bolts racing towards him. King Ghidorah reared back, bellowing his frustration. Godzilla finally rose to his feet, shaking his head. His back lit up with blue-white and he felt the force of his breath reach up through his throat. The giant, mutant dinosaur arched his neck and sent his heat ray forth, hoping to break the shield around Space Godzilla’s body.

    “Psionic shield,”
said King Ghidorah. “We can’t break it. He’s got Pillar of Iron Will up as well. But my will is stronger.”

King Ghidorah made no movement when he struck. One moment Space Godzilla was up, full of confidence, with a shield, the next he fell down. Something hit him in the head and his mind locked up. King Ghidorah took in a breath and exhaled delicately. Streamers of ghostly golden energy flowed out from his mouths down towards the still body of Space Godzilla.

“When I say, fire on him,”
    he informed Godzilla.

    “Right,”
    Godzilla nodded.

King Ghidorah lifted the body up, keeping a firm ‘Ego Whip’ on the clone’s mind. His telekinesis lifted the blue ‘Godzilla’ up high into the air. Then, Godzilla began to hear the sound of bones crushing. King Ghidorah was crushing Space Godzilla with his mind.

    “Fire!”
    he called.

Godzilla lifted his head up and belched forth his blue ray. Space Godzilla’s form was sent flying across the city, impacting on a skyscraper. It fell down, tumbling onto of Space Godzilla’s form. King Ghidorah and Godzilla could hear the sound of the space clone’s shrill call, a mixture of both of their famous roars, sound.

    “Nice shot, Godzilla,”
King Ghidorah smiled. “Give me wing…”

He held out his wing, ready for a high-five. Godzilla just rolled his eyes.

    “Okay, maybe not,”
    the dragon sighed.

    “Focus, Ghidorah!”
Godzilla roared. “It’s not over yet.”

“We make pretty good team though, ja?”
    King Ghidorah asked.

    “Don’t push it,”
Godzilla snorted. “After this is done, you and I will separate, never to see each other again, okay? I don’t wanna see you, you don’t wanna see me, okay?”

“After me trying to help you, heal you, save you—this is what I get?”
    King Ghidorah asked.

“There’s still things I can’t forgive that you’ve done to me, to those who I love,”
he said. “Not even this will help. But since that thing’s made from both you and I, I’ll help you just this once. But only once.”

“How sweet…” began a sinister voice coming from above them. King Ghidorah faced all three of his heads to the sky seeing a frighteningly beautiful, raven-haired, humanoid woman hover above him inside a glossy bubble. “The two bitter rivals join together to defeat the thing that is apart of them.”

    Deedra!
    King Ghidorah cried.

“Hello, my fiancée,” she grinned. “How do you like our son? We had him out of wedlock. I think we should get married now to make sure our son doesn’t become a *******-child.”

    Gai tren zich, Yentzen!
King Ghidorah cried out mentally, at the same time letting loose ferule, guttural, bell call from all three heads. (Go f**k yourself, whore!)

“Honey, not in front of the child,” Deedra giggled. “You’ll upset him.”

At her word, Space Godzilla rose from the rubble, undamaged by King Ghidorah’s mind attack and Godzilla’s atomic ray blast. Both monsters stared at their strange clone with wide, hopeless eyes. Space Godzilla shook the rubble from his deep blue scales, staring back at his two fathers with malice.

“I took the best from both of you,” began Deedra. “Strength and power of Godzilla, the godlike magic, mental powers, and psionics from King Ghidorah. A nice combination between the both of you, is he not? Combining the powers of two rivals, but how ironic it has brought those two rivals together against him.”

Deedra, I will come up there…
    King Ghidorah began.

“And do what?” she asked. “Try to defeat me again? You remember the last time you tried to force your hand—wing—upon me Ghidorah. You were beaten to near death, crashed in Germany. And now…you’re speaking German?”

Actually that time, I spoke Yiddish,
    King Ghidorah corrected.

“Don’t tell me—you’ve found religion and it just so happens to be Judaism,” Deedra began, looking at him strangely.

    What do you think, shikseh?
    He asked her.

“I just can’t see you in a black beanie,” Deedra sighed.

    It’s not a beanie!
The dragon roared. It’s called a Kippot!

“I thought it was called a yarmulke,”
    Godzilla began, scratching his head.

“Ja, it’s called that too,” he sighed. “And I’m surprised you know what one is!"

“German-Jewish dragon,” Deedra said. “How far have you fallen from the tree, Ghidorah? Tell me, what’s your Jewish name?”

    Gavril,
    the dragon replied.

    “Gavril?”
Godzilla asked. “That’s it? Doesn’t sound so imposing.”

“It’s Yiddish for the name of the Arch Angel Gabriel!”
Ghidorah cried. “The messenger of God. Idiots!”

“So, we went from being a god to being a messenger of God,” began Deedra. “How interesting.”

    Farmach dos moyl!”
King Ghidorah cried again. (Shut up!)

Vickie watched the fight from atop a skyscraper. She managed to convince Gigan to allow her to remain in the city. He stayed with her though, after flying Tom to safety. He made a promise to King Ghidorah that he would not let anything happen to her. She realized what Deedra was doing to King Ghidorah, playing on his human emotions, making him loose himself. He could not think, he could not act, he could not even use his great powers that Deedra had given him.

“Kaiser!” she cried. “Get a hold of yourself! Come on! Please!”

Space Godzilla grabbed a hold of King Ghidorah and flung him away as if he was a heavy blanket. Godzilla’s lips pulled back and his jaws dropped. His heat ray exploded from his mouth, only to impact upon Space Godzilla’s shields. Space Godzilla grabbed hold of Godzilla’s neck, throwing him to the ground. His corona beam split out from his mouth, shocking both monsters.

“Grab Ghidorah,” Deedra ordered. Space Godzilla nodded, lifting Ghidorah up by his center neck. His other two heads drooped lowly. King Ghidorah’s center head’s face bunched up into a snarl, growling at the clone. Deedra came down from the sky, placing a cold hand on his scaly chest.

“Well now, Gavril,” she began. “I’ve blocked your powers. I gave them to you and I can take them away, understand? You’re my little pet, and there is nothing you can do about it.”

I am no one’s pet, Deedra,
    King Ghidorah hissed.

“Hold his heads down accept the center one,” she ordered Space Godzilla. “Having him lying on his back.”

Space Godzilla nodded, holding him down with both claws. King Ghidorah struggled to get up, but he felt his strength leaving him. Deedra straddled his chest and caressed his central head’s cheek.

“Kiss me and I can make this all go away instantly,” she hissed to him.

You are a sick woman, do you know that?
He asked her. You need help. You need medical treatment, something. Und you need to leave me alone.

She leaned towards him, planting a forceful kiss on his lips. King Ghidorah jerked away spitting in disgust.

What do I need to get?!
He roared. A restraining order tating you’re not allowed to be within 150 feet of me?

“Ghidorah let Deedra toy with him,” Gigan began. “That not right.”

Vickie turned back at the great, beaked cyborg: “Can you help him?”

“Gigan made promise to protect Vickie human,” he said. “No break promise to Ghidorah. Besides, Space Godzilla more powerful. He destroy me.” He turned back to Vickie. “Thank you for convincing King Ghidorah to make me big again.”

“Believe me, he had not right in saying that he was any different,” Vickie smiled back. “I mean, you could be nice to us—if we’re nice to you.”

“Never had reason to help humans,” Gigan shrugged. “Vickie different from everyone else. Now Gigan knows why King Ghidorah changed. Vickie special.”

“Thanks, but I’m not why he changed,” Vickie giggled.

“Maybe not, but you reason why he stays that way,” Gigan shrugged. “A lot nicer than Deedra. Can Gigan stay with you too? Deedra no nice to me.”

Loosing human friends, thought Vickie. But I’m gaining monster friends. How odd.

“You’ll have to ask Kaiser,” Vickie said. “Don’t know what he’ll say.”

“Gigan behave,” Gigan chirped, grinning as best as he could with his metallic beak. “Gigan sweep floors and make beds if have to. World domination life have bad dental plan.”

“Now you know why Kaiser changed,” Vickie laughed. She glanced back to the fight, hearing King Ghidorah cry out again. Space Godzilla was now busy electrocuting Godzilla. She shook her head. “I know King Ghidorah. He has more power than this. Why is he holding back?”

“Because Godzilla is there,” Gigan replied. “He no want to kill Godzilla.”

“We have got to get Godzilla out of there, then,” Vickie said.

“I know how,” Gigan said. He reared his head back, his single optic glowing brightly. Then, with a single force, he blasted his laser out, striking Space Godzilla’s hide and throwing him back. Vickie knew what to do next, climbing onto Gigan’s back and holding onto his shoulder scales. His fins lifted up and he leapt into the air, landing beside the unconscious Godzilla.

    “Grab him, Gigan!” Vickie called.

“He no like this, running away,” Gigan protested. “Godzilla great warrior, not coward.”

“He doesn’t have a choice,” Vickie said.

    “Right,” the monster agreed.

King Ghidorah lifted one of his heads up, seeing Gigan pick up Godzilla with his sickle arms.

    Gigan, what are you doing?
He asked, directing his attention to Gigan only. He peered in Gigan’s mind, seeing his plan. He realized what that was. Oh…continue.

“What are you looking at, my love?” Deedra asked. She glanced back, seeing Gigan fly off with Godzilla and Space Godzilla just rising up from the ground. “No! Space Godzilla, go after them!”

    I shall…
Space Godzilla nodded. He leapt into the air, speeding swiftly after the two fleeing monsters.

    Nein you don’t!
King Ghidorah roared after him. He finally fought through Deedra’s control over him and clicked his central head’s tongue inside its mouth. Space Godzilla came falling from the sky, his body suddenly growing limp.

“No!” Deedra cried. “What? No, why—how did you…”

No body here but you and I and our son, Deedra,
the space dragon chuckled as he rose up from the rubble. He rose up into the sky and extended his wings, his body started to glow brightly.

“Oh, I see, you want Godzilla gone so you can use your full potential,” Deedra chuckled. “Wouldn’t matter, you’re still not as powerful as I am.”

We’ll see about that, my precious dead fiancé,
King Ghidorah reared his heads back and let loose a powerful roar. The ground trembled beneath Deedra and Space Godzilla. The blue-scaled clone rose up, his head swimming and dazed from the fall. Electricity ignited the air and struck the ground around him. Ghidorah’s mind closed upon the energy, fashioning and molding it into a solid form.

“After that!” Deedra commanded the clone. Space Godzilla leapt up, concentrating his energy upon the electrical construct. He fired his beam at it, the energy gathered into the construct’s hands. Before Space Godzilla could react, the beam was fired back at him with an even greater force, sending him flying off into the distance again. Deedra let loose a shrill shriek and dove toward King Ghidorah. One of his heads turned towards her and she became frozen in mid air, unable to move.

“Where did you learn that, Ghidorah?” she asked. “Where? Huh? I don’t remember you having the ability to conjure up elemental constructs.”

    Shows what you know…
King Ghidorah growled as he directed the construct towards Deedra. The electrical creature grabbed her by the arms and started to squeeze her. She cried out in agony, feeling the burning energy tear through her skin and singe her hair. Her eyes caught the expression of King Ghidorah. The King of Terror’s face was unmoving, unemotional. He cared little what he was doing to her. He neither took pleasure, nor plain from her agony. Then, the energy snapped back and she was flung from the arms of the construct, colliding with the weakened body of Space Godzilla. Deedra could barely move, her own blood burnt onto her skin.

    “Space Godzilla…attack him!” Deedra coughed.

    Yes, mother,
he nodded. Space Godzilla bounded for King Ghidorah. He was caught up in King Ghidorah’s cold glance and he froze.

    You’re mindless, you realize that?
He asked. You just take orders from her, no matter what condition you are in. I was like that. Now, I know better!

He grumbled for a moment, crossing his wings in mid-air, hovering over the wobbling Space Godzilla. Then, King Ghidorah reared his head back and let loose another powerful roar. Space Godzilla let out an agonizing shriek of pain, gripping his head. Something was in his mind, clawing and gnawing at it. He felt wetness seep out from his ears and he looked down at his claws, seeing his own blood drip from them. Space Godzilla fainted, lying flat onto the ground. King Ghidorah glanced down at the fallen body, breathing hard as he came near it.

It is not as sweet as a human child’s essence,
he began, looking up at Deedra. But, it will do.

“No!” Deedra cried. “No, please! Don’t! No!”
You want me to devour the essence of the youth,King Ghidorah said as he ran a talon from his wing over the body of Space Godzilla. This is just as good as any youth.

“No!” she cried. “He’s our son.”

    Nein!
He roared back, making her mind shriek in agony. He’s your abomination! Und I shall send him back to Hölle where he belongs. You will watch, just as all the other mothers had to when I took their children to feast upon their souls. You will watch!

King Ghidorah banished his construct and concentrated. What looked to be tentacles of energy descended down from all three of his mouths and attached themselves upon the still form of Space Godzilla. Deedra was powerless to intervene, King Ghidorah had weakened her. She could do nothing but watch. Ghidorah began to inhale, energy warped and fluctuated up through the glowing vines from his mouths. Deedra watched, her eyes wide just as she saw the blue clone’s form began to wither away into dust. Ghidorah sucked the body dry of its energy, its essence, leaving nothing more than a pile of dried dust on the ground. The great, golden dragon reared back again, letting loose another bellowing roar, feeling the power flow through him. He licked at his lips, looking devilishly at Deedra. His gleaming ruby eyes narrowed at her.

    Go away,
he said. Leave me alone now und forever. I don’t want to see you again.

“You killed him!” she cried, lifting up, trying to find the strength to strike at the dragon. “You murdered…”

    Nien, Weibchen!
He roared back. Never say that after what you made me do! I released him from your grip! Das ist genug aus Ihnen heraus! Leave me be. Go find someone else, Deedra. I don’t love you, I will never love you. I hate you, now und forever!

Deedra stared at him, her eyes filled with hatred. She wiped her eyes free from her tears and vanished. King Ghidorah breathed heavily, feeling a sob clinch his throat. He scattered the dust that was Space Godzilla’s body in a fit of rage. Half of New York was destroyed because of his battle. What good name could he receive from this? He covered his heads with his wings, sobbing on a crumbled building that was his apartment.

    I—understand now…
he wept. My home is destroyed…I have nothing…

    “No, you don’t,”
began a familiar voice. “You’ve got us.”

King Ghidorah lifted his heads up, wiping the tears from the eyes of his central head with a talon. He saw Gigan stand there with an exhausted Godzilla hanging over his shoulder.

    “Gigan?”
he asked, using the monster tongue he had gotten to know so well. “Was ist dieses? Why you—after all I’ve done…said…why?”

“I’m your friend, your partner, right?”
    Gigan asked. “Aren’t I?”

    “Ja,”
King Ghidorah breathed, leaning back on his haunches. “Of course you are, mein Raumbruder. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

    “I kept my promise,”
Gigan said, motioning to the tiny figure standing on his shoulder.

    “Hey, Kaiser!” Vickie cried. “Hey!”

    Vickie!
Ghidorah breathed. Mein Morgenstern! Come here! Come to your Kaiser.

He got up off of the ground, his wings extended out to embrace her. She leapt off of Gigan’s shoulder and landed in the palm of King Ghidorah’s wing. She swiftly scampered up his shoulder and finally to his central head, seating herself between his majestic horns.

“I love it when you call me your Morning Star,” she said.

    You are,
Ghidorah said. You shine brighter than any other star in the sky. His central head turned to the heavily wounded Godzilla. “Godzilla, I—would like to apologize for—for everything that I’ve done. Really. I’m sorry I’ve caused you so much pain in the past. Killed your family, I am truly sorry. I—I want to make it up…”

    “Why did you come anyways?”
Godzilla asked. “We did nothing to you. Why attack us those millions of years ago?”

    “I thirst for power, Godzilla,”
Ghidorah replied. “It consumed me. I was maddened. I—was stupid. I even destroyed my own home planet. The weight of those deaths are a heavy burden now. If this makes you feel any better, for every death, my heart is pierced. I’m weak now because of it.”

    “You’re not weak,”
Godzilla looked up at him. “Not from what I saw what you did to Space Godzilla and Deedra. What you did to Mothra and I. You’re not weak.”

“The strongest are often the weakest,”
he sighed. “I have great power, but my heart is weakened by it all. Now, I’ve lost everything I own. I am the same as any human here now—I am the same as them.” He broke off from his words, realizing what he just said. His eyes roved to Vickie. Vickie, I’m—I’m human! I’ve done it, I’ve transmutated. Maybe not physically, but I did it!

“That’s good to know,” she laughed. “Now will you stop tormenting yourself in trying to get rid of your dragon form?”

You like me better this way?
    He asked.

“Yes,” she said. “I do. And you know why.”

    Oh, right…that…
King Ghidorah began to blush with embarrassment. I think I feel better. Except for the fact my apartment has been completely demolished. What am I gonna do now?

“Come stay at my house,” Vickie smiled. “It’s my old summer home, far away from the fight. I told Gigan to drop Tom off there.”

    “She has a nice homestead,”
    Gigan commented.

“Lots of acres,” Vickie said. “Lots of room, and quiet…no reporters.”

Not yet, just wait till someone finds out…
    King Ghidorah began.

“Well, we’ll enjoy it until then,” she smiled as she kissed the top of his forehead.

Godzilla and Gigan just watched as the golden dragon just melted with that kiss. His heads turned back to the others.

“Gigan…what are you going to do now?”
    King Ghidorah asked.

“I was wondering if I could come and stay with you, Ghidorah,”p/i] Gigan began. “But…um…”

    “Gigan can come to Ogasarwara,”
said Godzilla. “My thanks for saving my ass back there, Gigan.”

“I can come live with you?”
    Gigan asked.

    “Where else can you live?”
Godzilla asked. “Not here. Ghidorah’s gonna be up to his necks in human reporters. It’s not safe. You can stay as long as you behave yourself and don’t start any fights.”

    “Sure, I will, honest,”
    Gigan chirped happily.

“Deedra let go of her control over the other monsters?”
    King Ghidorah asked.

“When they returned, they couldn’t remember a thing about what happened,”
said Godzilla. “Rodan awoke with a headache. Megalon could not understand why he had bruised arms.”

“So, the monster attacks have now stopped?”
asked Ghidorah. “They won’t come look for me?”

“Not unless you misbehave yourself again,”
Godzilla smirked. “But something tells me your human girlfriend will make sure that won’t happen.”

King Ghidorah chuckled and glanced back at Vickie. Vickie was just staring at Godzilla, not understanding what he was saying. The words he spoke sounded like nothing more than grunts and growls to her.

“What did he say?” she asked.

He said that Gigan can stay with him on Monster Island,
King Ghidorah translated to her. And the other monsters won’t bother us anymore.

“That’s good,” she smiled. “Thanks, Godzilla.”

“Gigan want to stay with Vickie and learn more human words,” Gigan said. “Vickie come and visit?”

“I’m sure I could,” she said. “And teach you more English. Kaiser?”

    “I don’t see why not,”
King Ghidorah shrugged, speaking in monster. “Why do you want to learn English for? Und die Draikop Eidechse wants to learn German. You both attack Japan, why don’t you two want to learn Japanese?”

    “You know Japanese?”
Godzilla asked. “If you do, I can finally tell those damned soldiers to stop firing at me!”

    “Nein, I don’t,”
    King Ghidorah sighed.

    “Damn!”
    Godzilla sighed.

“Fine, fine, I’ll teach Godzilla German und Vickie you can teach Gigan English,”
he sighed again. “But you two aren’t gonna be able to talk to each other, communicating in two different human languages.”

“That’ll be confusing,” Vickie laughed. King Ghidorah glanced at her, a bit shocked she understood what he said.

How did you know what I said?
    He asked.

“Because you used some German with your words now,” she said. “Doesn’t matter what language you speak in, you still use some German in here and there.”

    Whatever,
    King Ghidorah sighed.

“Well, I better take Godzilla home since he’s still very wounded,” Gigan said. “Good-bye, Vickie. Nice meeting you. Gigan hope to see you again.”

“It was nice to meet you too, Gigan,” said Vickie.

Gigan waved his sickle arm and picked up the wounded Godzilla again, flying off into the distance.

“Come on, handsome,” she said. “Let’s go to my house.”

What am I going to do about my reputation?
King Ghidorah asked. Along with all this mess?

“Well, that’s what construction workers are for,” said Vickie. “No one got killed—no one human got killed. They evacuated the city before all the heavy fighting happened. Now, come on, you look like you need some rest…and a nice foot rub.”

Nein, I give you foot rub,
    he said.

“You need the foot rub!” Vickie laughed. King Ghidorah spread his wings and lifted off into the sky. For now, he had some peace, at least until the media finds him.

Tom glanced outside as he saw the enormous dragon land on the grass. Ghidorah glanced around, seeing just how big Vickie’s plot of land was. Tom walked outside as Ghidorah lowered his central head to the ground for Vickie to climb off.

“So, is everything okay?” asked Tom. “The monsters gone?”

    Ja,
King Ghidorah sighed as his form shrank down to a more human size. He wrapped his wings around Vickie and leaned his heads onto her back. I’m tired…

“He needs to get to bed,” Vickie sighed. “You’re welcome to stay here too, Tom. I can’t expect you to leave without some bed and breakfast.”

“I’ll call a cab,” he said. “I called my brother to see if he was all right. He is. His apartment is still standing. So, I’m going to stay with him.”

King Ghidorah’s head lifted up off of Vickie’s back: I’ll pay for your cab fare, Tom.

“With what, Kaiser?” Tom chuckled. “You don’t even have your wallet let alone your pants. It’s alright. I’ll be fine.”

    Tom, I’m sorry about this…

“Hey, look, you and I are going to go back there and we’re going to get on a talk show,” he said. “How about Jay Leno? What do you say?”

Alright, King Ghidorah nodded his central head. Jay Leno. I hope he’ll be kind.

“I’ll make sure you’ll get it,” Tom smiled. “It’ll be alright. You did what you had to do. It could have been worse if you didn’t face that monster.”

King Ghidorah buried his face into Vickie’s shoulders.

“It’s not your fault, okay?” Tom said. “It’ll work out.”

    I’ll be deported for this,
King Ghidorah sighed. I’m better off going back to Germany.

“No,” Vickie said, turning around. “I don’t want to live in Germany, Kaiser. And I’ll follow you wherever you go. We are going to make it. I know it.”

The golden dragon leaned into her, holding her close. She could hear him sob.

“We’ll burn the bridges as they come, Kaiser,” she whispered. “You’re strong, you know. You can make it.”

Everything was so perfect…I was finally doing what I wanted now,
he wept. King Ghidorah has ruined everything.

“You’re King Ghidorah,” Vickie said. “And that is who I fell in love with. We’ll be alright.”

“Trust me,” said Tom. “You and I, Ghidorah. We can make that name of yours work for the best now. They won’t hate it anymore.”

    We will?
    He asked.

“I know we will,” Tom smiled. “You still have us, no matter what happens.

    Danke, Tom,
    King Ghidorah smiled.

A Small Town 50 Miles Outside of Albany, NY

It was a small jewelry store in a small town. But from what he heard, it had much acclaim for its artwork and craftsmanship. He pushed the glass door open and entered the store, glancing around at the glistening jewelry under the tiny spot lights. An elderly man with a smiling face and shining eyes greeted him.

“What can I do you for, sir?” the jeweler asked.

“Oh?” he asked. “Just admiring your work. Tell me, what do your engagement rings look like?”

“Right over here,” the jeweler said, opening the glass case up and bringing out several glistening, diamond rings. “These are the best, and the most bought of all the engagement rings. This one here is a fire cut, 14-karat diamond. Mighty expensive, but it makes the ladies flutter with joy when they see it in the box. The band is white gold.”

    “How much?” he asked.

“About 3,000 dollars,” the jeweler replied. “We do accept monthly payments though, if you like to do that.”

“I like that ring,” he smiled. “I’d like to buy it. Do you accept credit cards?”

“You want to pay with a full credit card?” jeweler asked.

“Ja,” he replied. He took out his leather wallet and pulled out his VISA card. He handed it to the jeweler, who looked at the name.

“Kaiser Goldstein?” he asked. “Hey, aren’t you that guy on the TV who sees dead people?”

    “That’s me,” Kaiser smiled back.

“You TV stars must have a lot of money,” he sighed. “Wish I had that much. Who’s the lucky lady?”

“Would you believe a lawyer?” Kaiser chuckled. “If she ever makes judge, I wouldn’t have to worry about finding one to marry us off.”

“No, I guess not,” the jeweler laughed. “She must be something to be buying a 3,000 dollar ring for. You must be the luckiest man in the world.”

“Nein,” he sighed. “I’m not. I just feel like I don’t appreciate her enough. Maybe this ring will say that I do.”

“This ring will say that you’re about to reach up and pluck the moon out of the sky for her,” the jeweler laughed.

“You know, I can do that, if she wants me to,” Kaiser laughed. He glanced down, seeing that the card had gone through. The man handed him the receipt and he signed it.

“Thank you, Mr. Goldstein,” he said. “Hope she’s happy with it. It does have a warranty. If she doesn’t like it, you can return it.”

“I hope she likes it,” Kaiser sighed. “I really do. I hope it won’t scare her.”

“Just show it to her,” he said. “She’ll love it.”

    “Danke,” Kaiser said. “Good-bye.”

Kaiser walked outside and placed the ring box into his pocket. He spread his arms wide and his form began to grow and glow, until it was replaced with the enormous form of King Ghidorah. The great space dragon leapt into the air, flapping his wings and sounding his bell call, disappearing into the bright morning sun.

Okay, what do you think? Funny, strange? Be nice! A lot of what went on here actually went into Kiryuu's history. This is where I got the idea that King Ghidorah killed Kiryuu's family except for Godzilla.

A space dragon with a sweet tooth and pretends he has diabietes. Funny.

I love how you can always take kaiju/human romances and make them work!

This story was a lot of fun to read, so funny and yet equally serious when necessary. I liked your take on Ghidorah(the German and sugar thing was hilarious!). You always do great remakes of existing chars!

Well now I'm off to bed, it's 1:12 a.m! :P Damn this story for keeping me up, hehe! It was just that good.

That was the funniest thing I've read in a long time! Absolutely hillarious. But the whole...Barbara Walters.............thing................yeah, that was creepy. And I don't won't any indication as to what Deedra had in mind....or why Vickie liked Ghidorah as a dragon so much for that matter *gag*!

A really great read all in all. Lol, I had a bit of fun reading the dialogue with my horrible, fake German accent. If there's ever a sequel, you should put KG on the Colbert Report and have him fight a really insecure Bagan (as if all that power isn't some sort of compensation, lol). But please don't let him meet Barbara, I have enough horrible images to purge from my mind, lol.

I think female Godzilla fic writers add a different flavor to the stories than guys do.

I mean...I went and wrote a Godzilla *romance* with Shezilla...and then there's your Maria and Kiryuu, and then here there's Vickie and Ghidorah.

Hehe kaiju romances are kinda fun! I say we should both try to write something so mushy it grosses out all the guys here ;D
