LOL, maybe. It was a personal favor that Robert Scott did for me, and it would depend on whether next year's guest is someone really, really special like Godzilla... but seeing as it WAS Godzilla this year, I doubt it, lol. |

I've made a kind of reputation with him over the past four years--what can I say?
In anycase, he's such a friendly and approachable guy, that I felt comfortable enough asking him [humbly] to help me out here. Fortunately he obliged. Of course, I don't plan on making this a habbit or anything! hehe....

You know Japanese man.
I know only a few words, which I said to Mr. Nakajima while getting the autographs.
What did you say to Nakajima's daughter- you didn't give a translation. I got Syonara Jupiter and Submerssion of Japan 1973 there. Both are good movies. Robert's cool. I was going to ask him what new films he's working on. I only saw GvKG that had him in it. |

I think GvsKG is his only screen appearence. I think he was writing a book on karaoke or something... As for the translation of our convernsation... it's private! hehe Here's what we said: Me: "Excuse me. Good evening. I'm Evan. A pleasure to meet you. Do you speak English?" Her: "No." Me: "Ah... only speak a little Japanese." Her: "You speak it very well!" Me: "No, I'm not good at all." Of course used similar speech with Nakajima, with lots of "you're welcome" "thank you very much" "good night" "good bye" "nice to meet you," etc, etc, etc, in Japanese. Actually he spoke a little English to me (just a couple of words). He seemed to say "thank you" far more then me, which threw me off! I ended up telling him "you're welcome" more than once--but I expected to be the thankful one, you know! lol I found it very fascinating. There--you happy now?! LOL My first conversation in Japanese with a stranger. I also got the original Sinking of Japan DVD--good movie. Flawed, but good. Would you believe that my favorite scene in the whole thing (which I also found the most touching) was when the Prime Minister talks with the old guy who explains to him the three options a Buddist priest, a scientist and a psychologist gave as to the outcome of the Japanese people? I loved that moment! I almost wanted to shed a tear! |

You mean Karaoke? And it's just too bad that I'll never be able to go. I live in Texas, no where NEAR Chicago. Unless they hold it in other places, as well. |

Interesting Evan.
Yep, Nakajima did say that to me too. I said to him when getting the autograph: O hai o zegai masu Nakajima-san. and later Domo arigato after he signed my sketches. That's as far as my language skills go-save for lines from the films. I remember that bit. You know the lead scientist in the movie played the Prime Minister in Return of Godzilla 1984. Actor Keiju Kobayashi. Syonara Jupiter is another awesome movie. Directed by the director of Return of Godzilla and spfx by Koichi Kiwata ( Heisei Godzilla series) and has Akihiko Hirata in it. To me the movie is a mix of Star Wars, 2001, and Star Trek. The music sounds like a bit of a rip off of Star Wars and a hint of the Superman theme. |

At the Eji Tsuburaya discussion I took notes on some of the stuff being mentioned. In Mothra they had built a big 30 foot model of the larva form that Haruo Nakajima sat in along with a few others to make it movie. (I bet Donny would like to build a big model of Mothra that big for a costume. lol ) And on the original concept Mothra was an irradiated moth, nothing like the films of Mothra seen now. Basically it was like Godzilla, but a mutated moth. Hmm, I wonder then if using that concept how such a movie would look. Not to mention Mothra would be hideious. Eji was very strict on the sets designed and highly detailed to how a tree looked. If it didn't fit his view he took a hammer to it and wanted the set rebuilt as HE wanted it. |

As do most, Mothra is cute and fluffy.
Still after hearing that it does make me wonder on how a fanfic using the original concept would look. Here are the books I got this year. http://onigojirakaiju.deviantart.com/art/G...tbooks-91105734 |

Yeah, that's what I said. On the notes I only wrote a little. What I posted was it. Otherwise I wrote a bit on what I saw while at G-fest. Wandered around, talked to Robert and J a bit. Listened in on Haruo Nakajima's lecture. The only part of which I remember was him saying for Godzilla movies it should always be a guy in a suit. He also talked about his working with akira Kurosawa on Seven Samurai. Nakajima said Kurosawa was a tough director and if you didn't fit the bill for what he wants he fires you. Nakajima even said how Kurosawa would fire a group if he didn't like how they acted on screen. A very demanding director. Haruo Nakajima said in the publicity stuff for the films, he wore the suit. He didn't mind it, but it gave him time to chat with the suit designers and how they became good friends. He also directed how the other suit actors would move in relation to him. He also said on Godzilla films, it all depends on the director. The films go by that. So if a film sucks, blame the director. So if that's the case the new film better have a damn good director. Later I went to the autograph session and got stuck in line for 3 hours. I talked to Nal and Cookson for a bit. The line took forever, and given that JD made an annoucement that given it was going over the two hour time for autoghs those who would be ther the next day will be given a ticket. Thereby you don't have to wait in line. Whatever the number is is where you are in line. After that I went to the Dealers room and bought the books you saw my photo of, a toy and necklace for my two little cousins who asked meto get them something. That was day 1. The next day I went around wandering for a bit before the autograph signing resumption at 11 am and watched Daikaiju Guilala for a little while. Then at 11 went and waited in line for a bit given the number order for autographs and photos. After that I went to the Dealers room and got Syonara Jupiter and 1973 Submerssion of Japan. I then went to a G-fan/G-fest breifing by JD Lees for a bit, then went home. That was G-fest for me this year. |

Yeah I know...but still it is ridiculous. The traffic is insane...not to mention everything is expensive. However they probably get many more commuters that way. |

JD Lees mentioned that, and it was because this was the only opening for G-fest this year. I don't know much else given I had to leave while that discussion was going on. |
