Raasgiel, the Chronospear Height (from bottom of lowest spine to top of top spine): 120 meters Length (from tip of spear to farthest point): 140 meters Width: 150 meters Weight: 100,000 metric tons Kaiju Type: Neutral Unknown Alien Life form Powers and Abilities: Liquid Organic Cannon Drive (L.O.C.D.): Raasgiel’s forward facing spike is actually an organic cannon, but unlike most kinetic projectile weapons, it shoots liquid. The four sacs around the spike pump the liquid, which is an organic liquid metal alloy not found on Earth, into the back chamber of the spike. There an internal electric charge is generated at the bottom edge of the spike all along its length, and all around the tip of the spike. This energy is used to draw the liquid down the spike at high speed. But the main source of energy for the liquid is pressure. The chamber that the liquid is pressured to immense levels while the spike is charged, raising the liquid metal to incredible levels of kinetic energy. The whole process takes roughly 1.8 seconds to complete to firing. The liquid then acts like a pressurized liquid cannon would in a metal cutting shop; it has powerful kinetic impact, and a surprising piercing/cutting potential, even against tough armor. The liquid can be fired in short pulses or long streams, but Raasgiel has a limited supply of ammunition. Carrion Bursts: Raasgiel’s anti-mana, nicknamed “carrion” energy, can be funneled through its eight radial spikes. These spikes open up into six pieces, almost flower-like, and expel nearly invisible bursts of deadly energy (the closest approximation to how they look is how air is distorted by heat, only slightly gray as well). Their effect is like being hit by one of Heisei Gamera’s fireballs, sans the kinetic impact. However, if the target on the receiving end has mana-based properties, then the effect is three fold and has some kinetic impact. The carrion bursts have some seeking capabilities as long as Raasgiel is not attacked during while they track their target. Shield: Rasgiel is surrounded by a spherical shield made up of solid sound. It is invisible, and one-way; Raasgiel’s attacks can leave the shield, but incoming attacks are hindered by it. Since it is made of sound, it produces a constant hum. It also produce sound of a different pitch every time it’s hit. The pitch starts low while the shield is strong and grows higher as it weakens. The shield absorbs damage very effectively, but does not repair itself or regenerate over time. Carrion Wave: Once Raasgiel’s shield shatters, two new attacks open up. One is the Carrion wave. Raasgiel splits in half along the line along the center of its body, and the silvery sphere floats separately behind the body. The wave is like the carrion bursts, but roughly three times as powerful. The wave fires for several hundred meters in front of Raasgiel, and roughly one hundred meters behind it. One thing to note about the wave: it is nearly two-dimensional it is so thin, so although is moves very quickly along its trajectory, it can be sidestepped by a sufficiently fast kaiju. Chronolance: Raasgiel’s most powerful weapon, and the second weapon it gains after losing its shield. The chronolance is a large beam capable of leaving the atmosphere, and is roughly three times as strong as Godzilla’s beam. The beam has electromagnetic properties in addition to anti-mana properties, which distort any and all electronics in the area, unless sufficiently shielded. Raasgiel once again splits in half, and the beam is generated at the sphere and travels between the two halves of the frontal spike. Total charge time is about twelve seconds, and Raasgiel can aim while charging, although is limited by his slow movement. The interesting quality of this beam, and the reason for its name, is that once it charges, it doesn’t travel along a path; it exists along its entire plane at once, more like a solid than an energy beam. Once the beam has been generated, if a kaju is in its path, it cannot be dodged for this reason: the beam does not travel, it merely exists. Once fired it sustains itself for roughly fifteen seconds, and then fades over about three more seconds. However, it does have a significant cool down after each use, taking at least seven minutes before the next beam can be used. Another thing that must be noted: getting in between Raasgiel’s two halves will instantly obliterate any kaiju. It’s a storm of energy that can tear even the most resilient of beings apart. Inversion: Raasgiel is not immune to telekinetic attacks, instead they work in opposite on it. If a telekinetic attack is meant to push Raasgiel away from the user, it will instead push it with equal force towards it. All other attacks follow suit. Kaiju would not realize this until after their first mistake, and even then it makes battle more complicated. Floats: Raasgiel floats, and is thus not affected by gravity, or any earth-moving attacks such as earthquakes. Strengths: Telepathic Immunity: Although seemingly capable of thought on some level, Raasgiel does not have a mind as we know it, and as such is immune to any and all telepathic interference. Armor: In addition to its shield, Raasgiel has a hard body that is resistant to most attacks. It is slightly stronger than Gamera’s shell. Range: Raasgiel is a ranged fighter and is adept at keeping foes at bay. Sense: Raasgiel uses an advanced electrochemical sense that allows it to detect foes almost regardless of state. This means that cloaking devices and even high speed are near useless to avoid detection. Weaknesses: Sensory Organ: Raasgiel’s entire body is a sensory organ. Although it is resistant to most attacks, every time it is hit, it’s also like getting poked in the eye. While not fatal, it can be a useful distraction. Big and Slow: Raasgiel is little more than a big target for most kaiju, and is not terribly fast, especially at turning around. Mana: As its energies react violently with mana, if it is struck with mana, the attack will do more damage because it will react. Appearance: Raasgiel looks more like an alien starship than a living creature, nonetheless it is alive. Its basic body is a slightly concave disc with eight spikes, four on each side, pointing outward and slightly backward. On the front of the body (the convex portion) is a ninth spike that is longer than the rest which points forward. This spike is hollow in the center like a giant needle. Running vertically down the center of the body, including the forward facing spike, is a clearly visible line that divides the body in half. There are also four purple sacs around the center spike in an x-shaped pattern that is embedded in the armored body. In the very back, in the “bowl”, directly behind the forward facing spike, is silvery sphere that is half-embedded in the armored body. Raasgiel’s hard body is ivory white with the four sacs being the only splash of color. Raasgiel has no identifiable head, eyes, mouth or other features. Personality: Totally alien. Raasgiel is unlike anything yet encountered by mankind or kaiju alike, and it shows. Raasgiel is both violent and cautious, and in some ways acts more like a machine than a living organism. Dealing with it is like dealing with a gun with AI: emotionless, unpredictable, and based solely on its weapons. Fighting style: Raasgiel is unfamiliar with Earth’s environment, so it does not tend to have a great deal of movement in battle, instead relying on its shield and its weapons to overpower its foes. History: Everything in the universe has an equal and opposite, it’s just that we humans don’t always know what it is. Take for example Earth’s mana. We humans, in some form or another, have known about it for thousands of years. And for at least a decade, since Gamera battled the Legion, humans have seen it harnessed has a weapon. But no one has seen its opposite, its balance point. Sure, we’ve seen alien energies, energies which conflicted, even violently, with Earth’s own, but to call any of them the opposite of mana would be a lie. Then Raasgiel appeared. Raasgiel was a creature so alien that until it demonstrated that it was in fact alive, no one believed it was; it looked more an artifact, a remnant of an alien race rather than an actual alien. But it was alive, and it did demonstrate it-violently. It seemed to lash out at anything and everything, more indiscriminately than anything mankind had ever seen. It seemed it was trying to strike out at the earth itself. And in fact, it was. It was overwhelmed by Earth’s mana, an energy that was all but toxic to it. It was also the reason why Raasgiel was able to do so much damage: its own attacks were based on energy with the opposite frequency, an anti-mana, and like the collision of matter and anti-matter, the reaction between mana and anti-mana was violent indeed. Then Gamera appeared to fight the monster, and a battle ensued. Raasgiel was able to do terrible damage to the guardian monster, but then inexplicably, it left before either could finish the fight. But it didn’t go far. It went behind the moon, invisible to most radar. It seems to be waiting, but for what no one can say. Sample Battle Scene: Raasgiel faced Gamera, the low droning hum of its shield creating a constant, maddening sound. The guardian kaiju stood for a moment before bellowing a challenge at the alien colossus. Raasgiel was silent, except for the hum of its shield, but responded with a blast of liquid metal from its L.O.C.D.. The jet of liquid ripped through Gamera’s shoulder, through shell and muscle and bone. Gamera screamed out in pain before responding in kind, unleashing two plasma fireballs in rapid succession at the living starship before him. But they never reached Raasgiel, instead being absorbed by his shield with the only effect being a louder high-pitched sound. Raasgiel returned fire with another blast of organic metal, this time blowing a large chunk out of Gamera’s left thigh. Gamera howled in pain once more before firing his jets and taking to the sky. He flew around Raasgiel, and before the slower alien could turn he launched several more fireballs. Three hit their mark, and from the higher sound of the shield, it was beginning to truly weaken. But Raasgiel wasn’t finished yet. His outer spikes spiraled open, and expelled eight small plumes of nearly invisible flame. They sought Gamera as though guided by an unseen hand, and five of them hit their mark. As Gamera is a creature of Earth’s mana, their power was tremendous, and brought Gamera crashing down to earth, and gave Raasgiel enough time to turn around and fire another blast of the L.O.C.D., puncturing Gamera’s shell in his lower back. By now the guardian kaiju was severely injured, but he wasn’t out yet. He stood back up; his rage giving him renewed fighting spirit. He launched two more fireballs at Raasgiel, finally managing to break through the aliens shield. But with an alien howl, Raasgiel made it clear that Gamera had gone too far. A flash of light ran down the middle of Raasgiel’s body, and the alien split in half as it faced the guardian kaiju. Without warning, a wave a carrion energy split the air and took Gamera off of his feet, and broke his frontal shell in half. Badly hurt, and weakened from being exposed to anti-mana, Gamera lost consciousness. But instead of finishing him off, Raasgiel left the atmosphere as quickly and enigmatically as he had arrived. |

Synchro Height: 70 meters Weight: 40,000 metric tons Maximum Cable Length: 140 meters Kaiju Type: Neutral Inorganic Kaiju Mutation Powers and Abilities: Cables: Synchro has dozens of steel cables running through his body, mostly wrapped around his bones. He can extend several from his forearms to use as weapons; he lashes them around and can extend them quickly to be use almost as puncturing weapons. Another major set of cables is embedded in his chest, and he can rapidly extend them for close range damage. Kinetic Zero-Point: Synchro, despite his small size and mediocre physical prowess, is nearly immune to kinetic force. Kinetic impact is instantly reduced down to a fraction of its original amount, but is proportional to the force of the attack. This means that no attack* has enough force to knock him around, but strong enough attacks can rip chunks off. All attacks will still cause damage as they would otherwise. * Exceptions are physical throws and telekinetic attacks. Physical throws, as in monster to monster grapples, work as normal. Telekinetic attacks still work, but are somewhat hindered, basically working as though Synchro were much heavier than he actually is. Strengths: Pain Free: Synchro feels no pain. He is aware of the damage he takes, but is not hindered by it. This means he won’t stop when attacked, and he’ll even damage himself to attack his enemies. Agile: Being relatively small and light makes Synchro pretty agile for a kaiju. Weaknesses: Weak: Synchro is not physically strong; being only about two-thirds Heisei Godzilla’s in terms of physical strength. Body Compound: Synchro’s body is made of a semi-flexible stone like substance that, while strong, breaks. Strong attacks will rip chunks off of him. Lack of Regeneration: Synchro does not have any form of regeneration as far as anyone can tell. Appearance: Synchro has a basic humanoid build, only with a slouching stance and too-short legs. His skin looks like light gray asphalt that’s a little smoother than regular asphalt. His head looks more or less like a squished iguana’s, with a short, thick cable for a tongue, and cable “dreadlocks”. He has proportional (to a human’s frame) arms, that are well built, being neither frail nor massive, that end in hands with two fingers and an opposable thumb. He has short legs with only two toes on each foot, and no tail. His body has several fine cracks in it; these generally reveal where cables are, and where they will emerge. Personality: Kind of like a street punk. Since he feels no pain and isn’t easily knocked around, he’s cocky about his limited abilities. He generally acts like a teenage thug with attitude problems. However, he is still somewhat intelligent, capable of at least basic strategy and problem solving. Fighting Style: Synchro’s fighting style is a not so delicate cross between untrained boxing and random flailing about with heavy and dangerous metal cables attached to his arms. It lacks any type of finesse, is violent and messy, but it gets the job done. He isn’t afraid to do significant damage to himself if it means hurting or killing his opponent. History: Not much is known about Synchro’s origins. He just appeared one day, heading out of a decimated metal working facility. It can be inferred, from his personality among other things, that he may in fact be a human mutation, though we may never know for sure. He appears to be landlocked to the United States and its connected landmasses, however, as he has avoided any ocean travel of yet. While Synchro has proved to be a dangerous foe for the military, he has yet to prove himself against any real kaiju opponents. Sample Battle Scene: Synchro peered out from behind the skyscraper at Kiryu. He knew the mecha-kaiju knew he was there, but he was also fairly certain that it wouldn’t bring the skyscraper down trying to get to him. Godzilla maybe, but not him. So he waited and listened for the footsteps of the mech to get closer. When he determined that Kiryu had gotten close enough, he turned around and put his fist into the skyscraper, and sent an armful of cables in Kiryu’s general direction, hoping to hit something. He did, and though he managed to put a few holes in Kiryu’s armor, the mech still had several advantages. Kiryu grabbed the cables and began to pull, trying to drag Synchro out into the open, a battlefield where it would have the advantage. Synchro whipped the cables out of his other arm, and into the structure of the skyscraper, but after wrapping them around the support beams, he let Kiryu drag him out, and simply let his cable extend further out of his arms. Once out in the open, Synchro stood up straight, and pulled the cables still attached to Kiryu in closer. Though Kiryu was physically stronger, the mech obliged and actually helped close the distance, figuring it could defeat the smaller kaiju in melee combat. Kiryu struck the first blow, punching Synchro with both of its fists. But Synchro didn’t budge, and the only sign of damage was his skin cracking a little where the blows landed. Synchro returned with a punch of his own, and though weaker, the effect was much more obvious. Kiryu stumbled back, and Synchro used this opening to lash against him with his cables once more, carving gouges in Kiryu’s armor. Kiryu recovered quickly and retaliated with a barrage of missiles. Once more, Synchro did not budge with any of the impacts, though small chunks of his stone-like body were blown off by the detonations. When the smoke cleared, Synchro smirked with a distinctly human expression before clenching the fist on his other arm and picking up the slack on the cables hanging limply from it. Just as Kiryu realized what Synchro was doing, the sound of twisting and bending metal and shattering glass filled the air, as Synchro brought the skyscraper down on them both. As the building fell, Synchro stood where he was and his form punched right through the broken building as it fell on top of him, though it sheared some of the flesh off of his arms and back. As he climbed out of the rubble, he looked back to see a little movement and light at the raised lump where Kiryu was, and hoped it took a long time to dig the machine out. EDIT: Although I kind of meant it from the start, and it probably came across, I added that Synchro does not have regenerative abilities to be clear about it. |

Firstly, Raasgiel I'm not exactly sure how the sound shield works. "Solid sound" is a phrase that particularly confuses me, since sound is just the vibration of molecules and atoms. I'm also unsure what kinds of attacks it would block, as I've never known sound to have any blocking power. The weapon itself is balanced, so I really have no beef with it, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. The Chronolance seems extremely overpowered. Godzilla's ray, in my opinion, was weakest in the Showa era, and even then it was able to melt tanks to slag in a period of minutes. At its strongest (I'd say Heisei era, and I'm not talking about the red Spiral Beam, either) it was able to decapitate Ghidorah with one shot. A ray seven times Godzilla's power would be a one hit kill to practically any monster. Hell, it could probably destroy the damn planet. Making it un-dodgeable only adds to its overpowered nature. I would severely lessen its strength to, perhaps, one times Godzilla's own ray. I would let it be stronger if you removed the un-dodgeable aspect, but the way it is now it's essentially a one hit kill weapon with no possibility of survival whose only limitation is a five minute reload time. I also think he needs more weaknesses beyond being slow, large, and allergic to "mana." The "mana" weakness is particularly poor as it only applies to kaiju from stories where "mana" as you define it is a part of their universe. I also don't think he needs an armored body when he has a lot of strong long range techniques and the confusing sound shield, as the armor makes both long and close range combat difficult. Synchro I think he's a solid entry. Has some great strengths that are coupled with a lot of good weaknesses. He's got my approval. |

Well, the barrier basically works like a force field that is constantly producing a pitched sound based on it's current level of fortitude. I decided it would be solid sound because it was science fiction-y and fit with its impossible to understand alien nature. As for his armor, well, his body is an armored bony carapace. That's what it is. Changing that would fundamentally change his construction as a a whole. And it's not that strong, not really. it's pretty tough, sure, but have you seen the Heisei Gamera movies? Legion and Irys go through Gamera's shell like it wasn't there. Once his barrier is gone, Raasgiel's armored body is really only an afterthought. if you can get through the barrier, the armor is much less intimidating. The chronolance, well, I was a little worried about that one. Although I did significantly reduce it from its original level of power, if you can believe that. However, only being as strong as Godzilla's ray seems a bit much to me. Two or three times as strong would be fair, if I gave it a bit more substantial charge up time I think. But the fact is, it can only use the weapon after its lost its shield, so by this point the tide of battle has already been turned against it theoretically. And it is it's most powerful weapon, and considering it's really little more than a living gun, one would expect that to be substantial. I'll tone it down, but I think 1/7th it's current power is a little much. (Now, if you actually meant one again over Godzilla's ray, as in double its strength, I could work with that, but I wouldn't lengthen the charge up as much. As it is, I will weaken the beam and lengthen the buildup no matter what, but it depends on how much right now.) Now, I don't see why I should add more weaknesses. It's big, making it an easy target for every type of attack out there. It's slow, making it easy to hit, harder for it to aim against moving targets, and it's weakest point is turning around. Melee hits stun him, to compensate for the armor. And, because it is unfamiliar with earth's environment, it doesn't deviate much from it's current spot in the battlefield, meaning most kaiju can dance circles around it. The mana weakness is a weakness of the type that seems so popular here: situational. If a kaiju uses mana energy, it will react. Period. And that's not mana from my stories. That's mana across the board. I stole the idea of mana from the Gamera movies. Anyone can do the same. And if someone used a description that was close enough, such as "earth spirit energy" or "earth lifeforce" I'd qualify it, since that's what mana is. I'm not unreasonable. |

I'll settle for twice Godzilla's ray power, or three times with a significant increase in loading time. Hmm, now that you've explained the armor a bit more I'm okay with it. Gamera's shell wasn't particularly durable in any of his series, now that I think about it. Tone down the chronospear and I'll be fine with him. |

Ok, the chronolance has been reduced to three times Godzilla's ray in power, the charge time has gone from one second to twelve seconds, the cooldown has gone from five to seven minutes, and I cleared up the un-dodgeable bit, which I think caused confusion. I didn't really mean the beam itself was in and of itself totally unavoidable. What I meant was because the beam instantly exists on its entire axis at once once it is generated, if a kaiju is already in its path it can't get out of the way. The beam does not travel forward like other beams, it simply exists on its plane once fired, stays there for about 15 seconds (speaking of which, I'd better detail it's period in the description) fades, and enters the cooldown time. Better? |
