    YOUR WISH HAS BEEN GRANTED
    As a fan who's only seen about half of the Godzilla movies, along with a few others, I have some questions on how to pronounce the individual kaijus' names.

    So far I've gotten these settled:

    Battra (BAT-truh)
    Biollante (Several pronuniactions)

    And I have questions about these guys:
    Gigan (Is it Guy-GAN or GUY-gan?)
    Ebirah (Eb-I-ruh, EBI-ruh, or ebi-RAH)
    Dagahra (Dag-GAR-uh or DAG-uh-ruh)
    Gamera (GA-mer-uh or Ga-MER-uh)
    Gaira (GUY-ruh? Gah-EE-ruh?)

    I'll probably think of others, as well.

    On the English dubs they often change how a monster is pronounced.

    Ghidorah has had GHID-o-ra and Ghi-DOR-ra and Gyaos as been GAY-oss and Gow-ss.

    It also depends on your accent.

    Although I've always said 'BIO-lunt-a' and 'BIO-lant-a' interchangeably.

    That's confusing. I remember in Destory All Monsters where the news guy was like, "Geeedorah the space monster! He's going to attack them, from the sky!"

    I just always thought he was saying it weird. Like Godziller. There's no "r" sound at the end.

    I think I say Godziller. But like I mentioned above, that's just because of my accent.

    That might be. It still bugs me when they do it in the US dubs, though.

    I have an absolutely HILARIOUS British dub of Gamera: Guardian of the Universe. Not only have they inserted awful British dance music in to every scene (even the ones when people are just walking about) but all the actors speak with stupid cockney accents. It's great!

    That might be. It still bugs me when they do it in the US dubs, though.

    The "Godziller" dubs weren't done in the US. Toho often creates English dubbed versions of their movies (called "international dubs") to make it easier to sell them outside Japan. The dubbing is often done in Hong Kong and uses a mix of English speakers from American, England, Australia, New Zealand, etc... that mishmash of accents and dialects leads to things like "Godziller".

    In English it's bye-o-lan-tay. In Japanese it's be-o-ran-tay.

    Thanks. I've just not seen so many Toho films. And of course, I originally thought it was bye-o-lan-te, but the Godzilla Unleashed guy said it weird, I guess.

    I like the different pronunciations though. :) I mean I think people should say it how they should say it in their accents...

    Like I mentioned above, most British people just say Godziller because we have a kind of flat way of saying the a sound sometimes. It sounds better in a sentence for us. However if I do an American accent, I can really hear that Godzilla sounds better.

    Doesn't change how I spell it though! :D

    OMG IT'S GAWDZILLER!!! :D

    I just say Biollante as "BYE-oh-LAWN-teh."

    As I'm German, naturally I pronounce some things differently.

    Gigan -> GUI-GUHN

    Battra -> BUTT-RUH

    Biollante -> BEE-OH-LUN-TAE (or something like that)

    Ebirah -> EH-BEE-RUH (or something similar)

    Gamera -> GUH-MER-UH

    Well, I hope you get the idea, from these examples.
    Sometimes I think it might be more close to the Japanese pronounciation.

    I barely use the English pronounciations, as I don't really need them here.
    But this is how I'd say the names then:

    Gigan -> GUY-GAN

    Battra -> BAT-RUH

    Biollante -> BY-OH-LAN-TEE

    Ebirah -> about the same as in German

    Gamera -> GA-MER-UH
    "Hold on a minute! That's an U.F.O. out there!", "Destroy all Monsters" (dubbing)
