Popular series ULTRAMAN MEBIUS and ULTRA GALAXY come together in the new movie MEGA MONSTER BATTLE: ULTRA GALAXY LEGENDS - THE MOVIE, which opens to screens in Japan this December.

The movie sees three popular Ultra heroes facing off against over 100 kaiju and a new evil Ultraman.

Never been a huge fan of the Ultra-verse... but this sounds interesting. Plus it features kaiju of some sort which is always a plus.

The image of the villain (Ultraman Belial) is way cool! He is in a perfect villain pose.

How long would it take for a film like this to come American-side?

Well, thanks to Kaiju Samurai / Matt frank for the following tip: Tsuburaya Productions has just posted a new trailer for Legends...and man is it insane!

The monster army is as I thought it be under the direction of Power Ranger veteran Koichi Sakamoto, with every available monster suit in recent memory filled with an actor (even Jashrine the stone-totem monster is there). The effects and actions sequences feel like a mix between Final Wars, a recent Hong Kong action epic, and the Star Wars prequels!

And I love the little bit at the end where Asuka, the human guise of Ultraman Dyna, confronts Zetton Alien (the being in charge of Zetton the monster himself), and go mono-e-mono.

But I think Matt himself says it best:

    Quote:

It cannot be denied that most of my fellow Godzilla fans consider Ultraman FAR beneath their notice. The undisputed monarch of Japanese super heroes (and Japanese science fiction in general) is barely a blip on their radar, and the Ultra-series doesn't even register with mainstream Americans.

To quell all of these preconceptions about whatever you think of the Ultra-series, I hereby present the trailer to ULTRA GALAXY LEGENDS, which promises one of the most eye-sparkling, visually sumptuous superhero flicks ever put to film.

    Just revel in that ****

That was absolutely awesome! Ultra capes, Evil Ultras, Ultra kaiju revenge army! I am super excited for this film now and they even included Baltan! ( even if he is a one two punch monster he's still in there which is really cool) I will most certainly be getting my hands on this especially if it comes stateside.

Actually, despite their active role in movie making and distribution (including this new Ultraman one), Warner Brothers Japan is pretty much Japanese theaters only, minus some of the films released onto American DVD.

Yes, I'm sad about this too.

Went through the trailer and various images related to the movie, and made this (hopefully) handy list of appearing characters:

1-Gomora (regular and Reionic Burst forms)
    2-Ultraman
    3-Ultra Seven
    4-Reimon
    5-Ultraman Mebius
    6-Ultraman Belial
    7-Ultraman Ace
    8-Ultraman Taro
9-Zoffy (briefly served as the armor-clad hero Andro Melos)
    10-Ultraman Hikari (AKA Ultraman Light)
    11-Ultraman King
    12-Father of Ultra
    13-Mother of Ultra
    14-Ultraman Leo
    15-Astra (Leo's younger brother)
    16-Ultraman 80
    17-Yullian ('Princess of the Ultrans')
    18-Ultraman Neos
    19-Ultra Seven 21
    20-Ultraman Boy
    21-Ultraman Jack
    22-Ultraman Great
    23-Ultraman Dyna
24-Ultraman Zero / Armor Clad Warrior
    25-Windam the Capsule Monster
    26-Mikulas the Capsule Monster
    27-Agira the Capsule Monster
    28-Zarab
    29-Shapuray
    30-Black King
    31-Bemular
    32-Zaragas
    33-Dorako
    34-Bemstar
    35-Salamandora
    36-Ultrawoman Beth
    37-Space Dragon Narse
    38-Earthron
    39-Sadora
    40-Doragoris
    41-Baltan
    42-Gesura (AKA King Gesura)
    43-Goldras (AKA King Goldras)
    44-Silvergon (AKA King Silvergon)
    45-Twin Tail
    46-Antlar
    47-Gomess
    48-Zetton
    49-Arigera
    50-Gudon
    51-Guts Alien
    52-Metron
    53-Zetton Alien
    54-Gan-Q
    55-Banpira
    56-Valkey
    57-Gromite
    58-Arigera
    59-Lunaticks
    60-Birdon
    61-Jashrine
    62-Roberger
    63-Kelbeam
    64-Angross
    65-Mukadender
    66-Verokron

67-Ultraman Xenon (I'm sorry, but it does feel a little bit like Mebius from a strange angle in that screen-capture)

I'm holding off on adding the 'Ultra Rookies', only because Tsuburaya Productions is very good at naming all their fictional characters, no matter how minor they may be (Ticks of the False Space anyone?). And with that said, there's no doubt that these seven characters may each get official monikers.

And the following list are the unconfirmed characters, who have been mentioned on various forums, questionable photos, and adverts, but have yet to appear in a true sense, or related to the movie itself. Some of you may question against this logic, but I'm just being accurate for the sake of accuracy. The fact that I'm even mentioning them in this secondary list is pretty fair enough:

Litra (one of Rei's lead monsters, but is strangely no where to be seen...yet)
EX Zetton (despite the advert with Ultraman Belial and Zero, we can't be sure)
    Gabora
    Vakishim
    Brocken
EX Gomora (no where to be seen also...yet)
Red King (can't find him in the trailer, sorry)
Dinozaur (can't find him in the trailer, sorry)
King Joe (I swore I saw the robot in the trailer as well, but on repeat viewings, he's vanished!)

Walkie Alien (of everyone mentioned in the list, I have no idea who this guy is...the walking bush from U7? If so, can't find him in the trailer either, sorry)

Ultraman Max (it looks like him, but with the 'rookies' and Ultraseven 21 there, it's hard to be sure)

'Gestalt Monster Army' (toy adverts show a demonic silhouette that may be another CGI-created super-monster, as with U-Killersaurus from Ultraman Mebius and the Ultra Brothers, and Giga Chimera from The Great Decisive Battle of the 8 Ultra Brothers...but I want to hold off on adding this guy for the main list until more information becomes available)

I hope this was helpful, and I'll update it when more characters are confirmed and/or presented. Or the likes of Keith Akian, Jim Ballard and August Ragon jumps in

I stopped at the Warner place on the way home a few nights ago. Snapped a pic of the display in the lobby and picked up the new chirashi. I scanned it front and back at a high res:

I took over 1000 photos at the premiere. I figured I would try to use some different ones on my blog to keep things fresh! I really doubt I'm getting my lens back. I think one of the other camera guys picked it up by mistake.

I haven't met Kurobe before. I would like to one day. Just depends on being at the right place at the right time. The only person from the original ULTRAMAN I've met is Hiroko Sakurai (who is a wonderful person!)

EDIT: Director Yagi did get my Kurobe's authograph last year though (along with the other actors from SUPER 8 ULTRA BROTHERS.) That was really cool!
