The Mothic Administrator Posts: 20,524 Group: Administrator Member #1 Joined: November 16, 2004 Favorite kaiju: Mothra, Death Ghidorah Gender Male Blog Mothra's Roost	Okay, so yesterday I decided to be extremely OCD and calculate all of Kaiju Galaxy's posting stats over the past 4-5 years, and here are the results: 2004 - 1 post 2005 - 8,983 posts 2006 - 28,422 posts 2007 - 20,859 posts 2008 - 13,415 posts June 2009 - 1,633 posts And so far since we are half way through 2009, KG has accumulated around: 8,563 posts this year. DISCUSS!

Posts: 1,578 Group: Kaiju Galaxy Site Contributor Member #252 Joined: January 14, 2007 Favorite kaiju: Godzilla Gender male Blog It's A Mad World	Based on KG's accumulated post total for June, and the half way mark for the year, this board is on pace to generate about 17,000 posts(or slightly more), an improvement over 2008 but still far short of KG's post totals in 2006 and 2007. If I were you, Donny I would be satisfied with any substantial improvement in post totals over your 2008 number of just over 13,000. If this site generates 17,000-18,000 posts for this year that's a marked improvement over 2008. I would set a goal to see this board crank out 2000 posts per month right now. I'd also, if you haven't already, take a hard look at the month by month posting activity: is there any kind of trend(or pattern) where there are any months in particular when posting activity is markedly less...or more? If there's a pattern where there is less, then that should be your months to advertise this site more elsewhere on the internet. If there is more then those months of heavier post activity should be when you should plan to afford yourself as much time out of your schedule to be logged in around here helping to perpetuate posting activity with your member community.

I did calculate most of the months over the past few years, and Late October-Early December seem to be very dead On Kaiju Galaxy. Meaning that i need to think of some sort of plan to implement during that time of year so the activity is maintained. It is really fun looking into forum stats!

Topic threads that are Halloween related may also be helpful, or even adding(temporarily) some Halloween emoticons. Play up "Halloween" around here and I think you'll get an increase in post activity. A huge increase? Maybe or may be not but I'm certain another hundred posts a week is realistic for the month of October. November I can understand, considering the Thanksgiving holiday towards the end of the month. I don't do much at MF regarding Thanksgiving: only a "I'm Thankful" topic thread. This month is a slower month for a lot of boards, Donny. December should be all about Christmas and related themes: a Christmas board skin, related topics and things like that. Again, it will probably bring you another hundred posts per week, or thereabouts. Write down ideas and share them with Sahra or your staff(by PM) or a "protected" staff topic thread for how to increase posting activity in slow months, then work your ideas.

I simply believe it's a necessity, monitoring post stats and subjecting them to analysis. It's another means by which to make board adjustments...and improvements. Nothing more and nothing less.
