  • The FFKT, Realm of Expressive Imagination, and RPG categories have been condensed into one category known as Member Creativity. That should de-clutter the main index a bit to make it easier for people to navigate.

  • Kaiju Section is going through an overhaul again. We'll be splitting it back into franchises, since not all franchises have the Godzilla series' Showa/Heisei/Millennium split.
  • Check out and vote in our poll in the Kaiju Galaxy Forum section regarding whether we should add a section for the Kamen Rider franchise!

Crimson Typhoon; Mark IV Pacific Rim Jaeger

    Ultra Kaiju Master
    Classification: Chinese Fourth-generation Mecha
    Alignment: Good
Height: 250 Feet [Roughly 76 Meters]
    Weight: 1,722 Tons

    Offensive Abilities:
Twin Fist Saw Claws: Crimson Typhoon can reconfigure its hands into circular saws, which can chop through Kaiju flesh very easily, though maybe not as well as Gipsy Danger's Chainsword or Striker Eureka's Sting-blades. Despite the name, the Saw Claws are used on all three arms.

Cryo-cannon: Though never seen in the movie, in the Xbox Live game Crimson Typhoon can shoot a stream of what looks like liquid nitrogen from its left arm, which presumbly freezes a Kaiju's armor enough to easily break through it [Gipsy Danger does something similar by venting coolant from its reactor, which technically isn't an ability, so I didn't include it.] Crimson Typhoon can also super charge the Cryo-cannon, firing a large ball of freezing energy at a distance, but it can't do this often. Behind the scenes information suggests that the left arm weapon is actually supposed to be a plasma cannon, but since it's never used in the movie, I'm using the Cryo-cannon because it stands out from the other Jaeger weapons.
EDIT: Information I've recently discovered describes the weapon in the movie as the IB22 Plasmacaster; quote... "Crimson Typhoon's IB22 plasma caster is multi-layered cell-tip with a carrier rail that enables the cannon with biometric launch functions for targeting Kaiju skeletons." Pacific Rim Wiki. I think this means Crimson shoots a plasma based bolt of energy/ plasma propelled projectile designed to maximize damage to a Kaiju's biology... yah, I don't really get it either!

    Defensive Abilities:
180 degree rotation: Crimson Typhoon's upper torso can rotate a full 180 degrees, effectively allowing it to fight backwards! In the game, this rotational ability is used to increase the momentum of Crimson's swings, and it can also rotate its lower torso to perform roundhouse kicks.

Shoulder armor: Crimson's left arm, technically being bigger than the right, has a large shoulder plate, designed to deflect Kaiju attacks; Crimson Typhoon is described in Man, Machines & Monsters as use a combat stance that constantly keeps this bulkier shoulder facing the enemy, ready to swing with its right arms when an enemy's attack is parried.

    Passive Abilities:
Triple arms: Crimson Typhoon is unique among Jaegers in that it has three pilots, instead of the usual two. Crimson takes advantage of this by having three arms; one left arm [which houses the Cryo-cannon] and a right arm that splits into two individual limbs, each with its own Saw Claw. This may also be why Crimson Typhoon is the only Jaeger that I've seen that can actively kick enemies.

Thrusters: Crimson Typhoon has thrusters on its back, used to propel it forward, rapidly evade enemy attacks, or stabalize Crimson during some its more acrobatic moves.

Strengths: Probably the best melee fighter of all the Jaegers, and is an agile fighter. Capable of truly astounding acrobatic feats!
Weaknesses: Doesn't seem to have an effective long-range weapon, and isn't very durable.

    Appearance:

Personality: The 'Jet Li' of the Jaegers, Crimson Typhoon's fighting style is clearly martial-arts inspired. Crimson fights with astounding grace, and often uses its opponents own size against them. Crimson Typhoon isn't the most durable or well armed Jaegers around, and depends upon its agility to outlast its advesaries.

“Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy. They do not attack people because they want to, but because of their size and strength, mankind has no other choice but to defend himself. After several stories such as this, people end up having a kind of affection for the monsters. They end up caring about them.”
