The Gold Godesses As their name implies, these beauties are the Queens of the weyr. Their hides are always some shade of gold, be it white gold, orange gold, yellow gold, or rose gold. These dragons always seem to have an air of superiority around them, likely because they have the 'queens mind' that lets them impress their will upon the lower ranks. They can be extremely aggressive when they have eggs. Due to the toxins released during mining, Golds have become less fertile and, along with Bronzes, now make up roughly 45% of the dragon population.
- Roughly 47'-52'
- Always Female
- Bonds Females, regardless of Sexuality
- 60% Clutch Rate; 45% Dud Rate
- 2 - 7 Eggs
The Bronze Conquerors These king dragons are just slightly smaller than their gold counterparts. Their hide colors can range from deep green, to near brown, to almost gold, sometimes making them hard to identify upon first glance. Closer looks, however, show that they always have the slightly metallic sheen that comes with their rank. Because of the increased number of golds, the two colors now take up about 45% of the dragon population.
- Roughly 44'-49'
- Always Male
- Bonds Males, regardless of Sexuality
- Chases Golds, Reds, Rarely Large Greens
The Brown Peacekeepers Ranging from light tan to deep brown, these dragons have the first noticeable size jump. They rarely reach a bronze's shoulder, and lack their larger brother's metallic finish. What they lack in stature, they make up for with personality. Browns are a much more cerebral group, most preferring to use their brains rather than their muscles to think things through. They have the best memory of all dragons, and can often be found telling stories to anyone who might listen. They account for about 15% of the dragon population.
- Roughly 35'-41'
- Always Male
- Slightly more likely to bond Male
- Chases small Golds, Reds, Greens
The Red Divas Though no one knows with absolute certainty, reds are thought to be a brown mutation brought on by the mining toxins. They are about the same size as their brown brothers, maybe a foot or two smaller, and are purely feminine creatures. Their hides can be any color from light pink to deep, bloody red, and they like to make sure their human takes good care of it. Reds are known to have nasty tempers, and it seems that the darker red they are, the more likely they are to throw temper tantrums. While rare at first, this color is showing up more often in clutches lately, and now make up about 10% of the dragon population.
- Roughly 32'-40'
- Always Female
- Slightly more likely to bond Female
- Infertile
The Blue Lovers Blues are the single most common dragon in all the weyr. While one of the smallest, they are certainly the most lively, and no two blues are the same. Their personalities vary as widely as their hides, which can be anything from near white, sky, ocean, midnight, and anything in between. These dragons are the best at pin-point betweening, a rare few even having the ability to Between to a place they have not visited before, and make for excellent search dragons. They make up roughly 25% of the dragon population.
- Roughly 24'-30'
- Always Male
- No Bond Preference
- Chases Reds, Greens, Large Blacks
The Green Outcasts Greens are a near extinct color in the current age. Though they were once the most common of colors, they also proved to be the most susceptible to the toxins let off by mining, and most quickly died before reaching adulthood. Those that survived were mutated by the toxins, giving them alone of the original dragons the ability to go unbonded. Greens are highly prized by Feral dragons because even if they do not bond, they retain the ability to speak directly to humans without the need of a rider. It is not unusual for a gold to cull a green hatchling if it cannot be pressed into picking a rider. Greens make up roughly 5% of the dragon population.
- Roughly 22'-28'
- Always Female
- No Bond Preference
- Infertile
The Black Legends A mutation of the now extinct white dragon, blacks are seen as both a blessing and a curse. While the birth of a black signifies a very fertile, healthy female, their hatching almost always seems to be the herald for some misery that is soon to come. Riders of black dragons often fall victim to such misery, if not by sheer unluckiness then by those around them who are suspicious of the black's ill omen. They make up less than 1% of the dragon population.
- Roughly 8'-12'
- 50% Male, 50% Female
- Tends to prefer opposite gender bonds
- Chase only other Blacks
- Infertile, Rarely Rise or Chase
