Hello everyone! I'm not new to roleplays in general, but I am to this sort, so go easy on me. Name: Hattori Mokudo Age: 45 Occupation: Kisho Ninja (retired). Applying to be adviser to the Shinobi Elder Home Province: Owari History: Hello, I am Hattori Mokudo; I was born to a semi-noble family within Hattori lands. The name of my family is inconsequential, as they have dissolved long ago, its members scattered or dead, either by the sword or by the knife of hara-kiri. My father, the cousin of the head of my family, had crushing gambling debts, and was unable to pay the money back; he was forced to sell me into indentured servitude. I was brought to Owari to work in the iron mines there. From a very young age, I worked myself into the ground, grinding my hands to the bone, but every night, I would sneak away from the mineshaft or the camp to just be alone. Little did I know, however, I was being watched as I left and returned each time, but not by the foreman, or any of the other miners. No, I was being watched by Hattori Hanzo Himself. He was appraising my uncanny ability to come and go undetected, and one day, he approached the foreman with an offer to buy my contract. The foreman was more than happy to oblige, as I was a scrawny and weak boy, hardly able to lift a small pile of rocks on my own. And so, I was inducted into the Hattori School of Ninjutsu. At the age of 16, I graduated, a full fledged, but very inexperienced, Ninja. My first Mark came a few months after my graduation; I was tasked with the elimination of the Hojo Minister of Finance. Apparently, the estate that my mark was staying at was guarded by a token force of fat lazy samurai, who had become slow in their old age. Hanzo believed this to be an easy task for a fresh-faced ninja graduate. He was, however, sadly mistaken. When I arrived at the estate, I found it guarded not by a few lazy guardsmen, but a full force of sixty battle hardened samurai warriors and over 200 Ashigaru spearmen. Somehow, I managed to slip by the heavy security undetected, but as I went to end the life of my target, I was spotted by his personal Metsuke. I only achieved a glancing blow on the Hojo noble, and barely escaped with my life. When I returned with news of my failure, Hanzo threatened to force me to commit hara-kiri, to regain the honor that I had lost in my failure. Only when scouts returned with confirmation that security had in fact been heightened, did he abate. My next mark came a year after this; I was tasked with silencing the leader of an insurrection forming within Hattori lands. The guards around the camp were inexperience peasants with no military training. It was easy to slip past them and into the leaders tent. A quick slash across the throat finished the job, and I slipped out just as undetected. The years following this mark we filled with many successes and failures, but I gained Hanzo's respect, and I was given the great honor of being included in a squad of Kisho Ninja. We fought many battles, defeating forces many times our size through clever tactics, ambush and subterfuge. Sadly, however, I was wounded in one particularly bloody skirmish with Oda forces, and received a bullet to my thigh, which shattered the bones in my leg. I recovered from the wound, and moved into Tokugawa lands. Though I am no longer able to fight, my mind is sharp and I retain the knowledge and wisdom of years fighting as a Kisho Ninja in the Hattori Military. I believe that this would make me an excellent candidate, if you deem me worthy My Lord, to be the Adviser to the Shinobi Elder. |

Name - Tokugawa MoriKenshua Age - 29 Occupation - Master Architect Home Province - Totami Personality - People have often discribed my personality as a calm, kind person but who can assert myself in times of adversity. History - My history is one of mystery and intrigue. Many people know not where i come from only that i am there. The most accepted story of my birth and childhood is that i am the basterd son of non other than our beloved Daimo Hirotada. When the people of the great Tokugawa clan had heard that i was born they were pleased but little did they know that i would cause great uproar and controversy in the Daimos' family. When word got out that i was a basterd son the Daimo did not care, i was his son and that was what matterd to him. It did not matter that my mother was a geisha and not tha noble woman that he had married. But the people didn't see it that way and neither did the other clans. This caused a great rift between the people and my fathe, but more so between the the Clans of Japan and my father. This caused relations between the clans to break down. They said that it was because my father was amassing and army to overthrow the Imagawa but he knew that it was because of me, a little 9 month year old baby. A year later the people os Owari petitioned the Daimo to cast me out into the wilderness to fend for myself to restore honour to our clan , but he could not. As the people became more and more discontent my father knew what he had to do.So he said to the people that it was done, that i was dead and buried. However little did they know that he had smuggled me out in a cart heading to Totami, a newly conquered province in the Tokugawa empire. When i arrived in Totami a family called the Morikenshuas' where waiting for me and they accepted me with open arms. All was well for a few months...untill word came that the Hojo and Takeda were sending reiforcements to aid the Imagawa in "resolving" our open rebellion against them. We never thought that it would be so bad. At first all was calm, then the sound of the Hojo war machines broke the silence with a thud and the Takedian horsemen pounding up the hill the castle town of Totami. What followed next was a blind panic. We were one of the lucky ones we managed to escape to the fort on the hill but so many didn't, i remember there faces covered in blood, anger and panic as the Yari Ashigaru closed the gate to the fort. We huddled in the keep in the center of the fort untill the battle was over. A few years later when i was old enough to understand what had happened, my Sensei tought me how they rebuilt the fort and town below, From then on i was hooked. My Sensei told my "mother and father " that i was exceeding in his lessons and that one day i would make a great Architect Now i am 29 years of age, i have designed so many great things in my short time on this Earth but the thing that i am most pround of is the Daimos Hall of Warriors. Once it was complete our beloved Daimo Tokugawa Hirotada came up to me and said "Great job......son" I looked at him bemused but comfused as the true meaning behind his words. Today those words still plague my memory but i have moved on now i must travel to Owari to oversee the building of a Castle in that region and i hear the Daimo is in that region. All was well with my 4 person family of me, my brother, my father, and my mother. One day when the Takada came for Totomi they passed by the post demanding all the stock. I was teaching my brother how to fish, when it happened so we lived. Not the same for my parents though. So please let me join. Traits and Habits: - I don't trust myself for who I chose as a friend or enemy so Its probably best I can't chose who to fight war against or not. - I point obvious, but important stuff out - I usually know what people WANT for trade, alliance, and stuff - I like to add on to a story rather then make a new one so random events may be a habit to ask, but are not begged for. Name: Takesun Motohisa Age: 22 (Born, 6th March 1540) Occupation: Merchant Home province: Mikawa History: Takesun Motohisa was born on the 6th March 1540 7:34am. His family was a wealthy merchant family who specialised in food and selling it on for great profit, sometimes at the expense of the farmers. His father was 34 years old and his mother 31 when he was born, resulting in them currently being 56 and 53 years old respectively. Marriage in Merchant families was often used for gain for the parents and in this case, the reason Takesun Motohisa’s parents married in the first place was due to the expanding power of his mother’s family, however, as there were no sons to inherit clever use of marriages allowed the Takesun family managed to grow even bigger by inheriting her families wealth. This gave Takesun Motohisa a financially secure future as the Takesun family was one of the largest Merchant families in the whole of the Tokugawa’s land when it came to the art of selling food. At a young age Takesun Motohisa had everything he wanted. In addition to this luxurious lifestyle he was mentored by his parents in how to successfully trade for great profit, so as the Takesen legacy would carry on. At this time, he enjoyed his studies, particularly discovering new things. The main things his parents taught him was about farming techniques as well as merchant skills in addition to management so as they could control their trade better as well as those working for them. Also, he was encouraged by his father to discover new farming techniques so as they could be shown to the farmers afflicted with the family, improving their productivity as well as the families wealth. Furthermore, he was though about Buddhism by his mother. His mother was a very devout women who had great faith in the gods and wanted to make sure his son also did so he would hopefully find eternal happiness in his life. These discoveries did not involve Takesun Motohisa actually having to farm, just watching and instructing people that do farm. However, this lifestyle was not to last. In summer 1549, the Imagawa raided the farmlands that the Takesun relied on. This plunged the family into large amounts of debt and they had to slowly begin to sell away their items and lands, just to survive. Eventually, their once might trade empire began to crumble, being reduced to just a few meagre bits of farmland and a small stockpile of supplies. At the young age of 9, Takesun Motohisa had experienced disaster and learnt how fragile things like trade could be. The family began to develop a hatred for the Tokugawa as there was no support, and they failed in their duty of protecting the land of the people. However, aid eventually did arrive, the farms were repaired in summer next year, and minor compensation was given to the Takesun family. Despite this, the family wealth was just a mere husk of what it used to be. Nether the less, the family was no longer in poverty, and they were once again making a profit. This display of compassion from the Tokugawa to all those effected made the Takesun family eternally grateful to them, but they never decided to act upon this gratitude. Four years later, when Takesun Motohisa was 14, he began to take command of some of the family’s wealth. Wisely, he invested large amounts of money into the safest property as a gift to the farmers. This won him great favour with the farmers and allowed him to get even better prices from the farmers in great quantity due to the farmers using the money he invested in them. This allowed him to rapidly restore his wealth as he could out-compete competitors with cheaper prices and amass a large amount of wealth. As the parents noticed how successful this tactic was, they slowly allowed Takesun Motohisa more and more freedom and resources, until eventually giving him complete control at the age of 16. The Takesun family had once again become a major player in the Markets of the Tokugawa. He carried on expanding his suppliers and began to get more and more people involved in his trade. Despite all of this wealth, Takesun Motohisa did not feel complete. Being a supplier of food was excellent for money, but it did not quench his thirst for glory. Not enough people knew his name, and his desire for knowledge had no time to be fulfilled at his time, plus he still needed a wife so he could produce an heir and carry on the Takesun name. However, he carried on expanding his trade waiting and searching for an opportunity. Eventually, that opportunity came, there was a position needed for an economic expert to try and resolve the clan’s dire economic situation. Takesun Motohisa, never one to turn down a challenge, especially if there was glory at the end of it, decided this would be the perfect way to find his highly desired glory. Even better, he could pay back the Tokugawa for their aid all those years ago when he was just 10 years old. As a result, he halted the expansion of his trade, while still allowing it to function for a large steady stream of income and prepared to try and go for an office in the Tokugawa. This would even assist with his problem of not finding enough time to carry on his search for knowledge, as part of his hopefully future role included working with some of the greatest minds of the Tokugawa in their search for wisdom, both spiritual and physical. This was the things dreams were made out of. He appointed more assistants to help him manage his trade, so he could fully focus on this new opportunity, and enjoy the life ahead of him. Character Traits (just to sum everything up): Innovative Seeks Glory Loyal Lonely Adaptable Understands hardships Easily Befriends people Uses people like tools Cunning Knowledge Seeking |

Up till the age of 7 he didn't know how to read or write, which his father saw as a problem as he hoped for his son to be a Sword for Hire, which he would need to know how to read and write to accept jobs. So his father hired him a tutor, who was only supoposed to teach him basic adding, subtracting and multiplying. But everyday the tutor would teach little Abunuj about Japanese history, language, and more math than his father asked for. His sisters began to even notice he was getting over educated. When his father got word of the news he was furious, but that didn't stop the tutor. Even when he was told not to teach Abunuj anymore he and Abunuj would met in specific places to teach Abunuj everything about everything. Winning that fight was nothing to him though as the same army soon came back knocking on his door. He doesn't remember much of that fight as he was unconscious only 5 minutes into it (arrow fire). His older sister died in the raids before that fight. His mother died of an interesting illness called the Flu. He only had his sister and father to care about now. He decided he wasn't going to die so he could care for them and soon got into politics. Years passed and his father got the same sickness his mother died from, and he was soon dead. He married a fine young lady at the age of 25 and settled down in Kai which was still in Uesugi control. He decided to become a Tax Collector at the age of 35 and has been one since. He new that the Tokugawa were coming for Kai so he got his family days before the battle and they lived in the mountains for 1 week. He sided with the Tokugawa clan and became yet again a Tax Collector. |

Name: Sanada Katashi Age: 31 Occupation: Horsemaster and member of Tokugawa Motchimori’s personal bodyguard. Home Province: The Plains of Kai Personality: Brash, naïve, and idealistic, Sanada Katashi has been dealt a difficult hand, but his courage and honor have helped him to turn these traits into advantages. He is insightful and has a mind for military tactics, while still being well-spoken and personable. He has the makings of a leader, but is held back by grief at his family’s death, as well as the dashed dreams of a man he once considered to be like an uncle, Takeda Shingen. He has a tendency to drink too much due to this grief, and doesn’t let others get too close to him, leaving him with very few true friends. His better half, Sanada Yuuko, helps him overcome this flaw. History: Sanada Katasi was born to Sanada Yukimura and Saika Eiko, the former of which was a loyal retainer of Takeda Shingen to the very end of his life. Katashi was raised a warrior through and through by his father, and was taught to ride a horse with a yari in-hand from a very young age. As he grew, he continue to learn the ways of combat from his father and the ways of knowledge from his mother, something he held in high regard as his father had once told him that “the strength of a man lies not in the might of his hand, but in the integrity of his heart and mind.” When he came of age, Katashi received permission from his father to ride alongside him in battle as Bishamonten, the god of war, had stoked the flames of conquest, and all of Japan had its eyes on the Shogunate. The Takeda showed real promise, and Katashi believed that, behind the leadership of the great Takeda Shingen, the clan could truly be great. The swift and strong cavalry of the Takeda blazed a trail southward after expanding local interests, and Katashi, along with his father and the daimyo himself, set their sights on the upstart Tokugawa. The alliance between the Takeda and the Imagawa bound them by honor to assist in crushing this clan that had turned its back on its masters and left a trail of destruction in its wake. The Takeda seemed unstoppable, and Katashi grew ever more skilled in combat, and rose ever higher in the ranks of the clan. When the Takeda took Totomi from the Tokugawa however, Katashi took an arrow to the shoulder, limiting his riding ability, as well as leaving him without the strength to fully lift a yari while saddled. Yukimura ordered his son to stay and help govern the province as well as look after the stables, and Katashi hesitantly obeyed. The battle for Mikawa should have been a walk in the park, especially considering the agreement to fight alongside the Saito clan, but the Tokugawa would not be defeated so easily. They beat back both armies in an incredible display of skill from their archers and ashigaru. Takeda Shingen was forced to sound the retreat. There was nothing but grave news for Katashi for the next couple of years, the worst of which came upon the return of Shingen after the battle for Mikawa. His father, Sanada Yukimura, was killed at the walls. Katashi was told that Yukimura killed five men before he was overwhelmed, but that did nothing to lessen his pain. He was then informed that the Uesugi had stormed through the Takeda’s northern lands and taken over. The clan was on the edge of a knife, and it was losing balance. Katashi felt more alone than ever as he realized that his mother would also have been killed in the Uesugi attacks. When Takeda Shingen ordered a second attack on Mikawa as a last-ditch assault to reclaim some semblance of power, Katashi was eager to take part, not for revenge, but because he knew that the crusade was doomed from the start, and he felt no reason to continue living. Katashi survived, however, and when the army was crushed, he retreated back to his stables in the northern parts of Totomi in the mountains. When the Tokugawa reclaimed Totomi, Katashi remained in the province to raise horses and live off the land. One day while in town he met a woman by the name of Yuuko, who was loyal to the Tokugawa and whose father was a high-ranking samurai. Katashi fell in love with Yuuko, and would eventually marry her with her father’s blessing. They lived a simple life for a couple of years, until Tokugawa Motchimori heard of his horses as well as his history, and had him raise a horse specifically for his use in battle; a horse that he rides to this day. Katashi didn’t know whether to be upset or honored, but thanks to his time with his wife, he had grown to be somewhat of a Tokugawa patriot, after years of reflection helped him to realize that the Uesugi are the clan that forced the Takeda into fighting the Tokugawa, and ultimately, were the more responsible party for his father’s death. Motchimori was impressed by his story, and had Katashi accompany him as a member of his personal bodyguard. Over years of conquest, Katashi has stuck by Hirotada through good and bad, and has become one of the finest horsemen in the Tokugawa army. By helping to defeat the Uesugi, Katashi has quenched his thirst for revenge and found a purpose in life once more: to see the Tokugawa take control of the Shogunate, and to raise a new family to carry on the honorable name of Sanada. Throughout the 1560's and 70's He made great succues in trade and conversion in southern Japan, which eventualy landed hime the title of Barron Of Port Rodrigo. Through the ellegance of his tounge and through the beauty of his paintings of the Japanese coasts and hillsides along with the magnificent ships he brought with him, the Japanese people began to sway. Then churches started to spring up in Khuyshu and southern Japan, and bustling trading ports started to emerge. Name: SUZUKI Yuki Age: 50 Occupation: Ex-Cavalry Captain, now a Rice Trader History: Yuki was born into the Saiga Ikki clan in Kii Province, in Hattori lands. His father was the clan’s leader, and was captured by Hattori forces when Yuki was 15. He was forced to commit seppuku in front of Yuki, and Yuki's face was branded with the sign of the Hattori. It is then said that Yuki ran for seven days and seven nights, into Mikawa, before collapsing at the city gates. The Tokugawa Shogun then took pity on him and gave him a position in his cavalry. Over years of training and hardship, Yuki became a cavalry captain and led his own unit. After retiring, he bought a modest amount of land in Totomi province, where he grew rice and farmed cattle. After hearing of the Shogun’s orders, he has come back to Mikawa to pledge himself to the Tokugawa cause. Personality: He is a battle-hardened man who is loyal to the Tokugawa. He desires to, once again, command Kii under the Tokugawa banner, and, given the chance, would crush any and all Hattori who got in his way. He believes in the way of the Ikki, but doesn’t openly share his views. He wants to hunt down and kill the men who harmed him, and killed his father, and honor his memory. |

Name: Isamu Masao. Age: 37. Occupation: Cavalry General (Serving The Tokugawa). Home Town: Mikawa (Born in Owari). History: Isamu was always an eager man. Even as a child, his life long ambitions were to join the army. Much like his father, Jaijec Masao. At the young age of 14 Isamu enrolled into the early armies of the Tokugawa. He was present the day The Tokugawa freed herself from foreign rule, breaking the chains of being a vassal. The great rebellion. He lead a small unit of experienced cavalry directly into the front lines, critically wounding himself in the process. 'The One Eyed General' is a title he has unintentionally claimed. During the great rebellion, Isamu lost an eye to an arrow. He was saved by his closest friend, who died in the battle. Isamu is many things; Cold. Intimidating. Calculating. Bitter. Harsh & Temperamental. But the thing that matters the most, is his unbreakable loyalty to the Tokugawa and The Daimyo. He is loyal beyond question. His family is greatly respected as nobles and military advisers. Isamu doesn't want fame, however. He just wants to get the job done, no matter the cost. Upon getting promoted to General, Isamu Masao considered the regular cavalry units to be inadequate and inexperienced. He is now in command of his own group of cavalry, consisting of 25 men. Mercenary's they may be, but they have had elite training and have sworn loyalty to the Tokugawa leaders. They call themselves The Black Riders, simply because they wear all-black cloaks with dark metal armor. The Tokugawa's banner is still present however, as to show their loyalty. More of a symbol than a banner. It is carried with them regardless of where they are heading, as per the agreement. Isamu is now stationed in Echigo, currently awaiting orders from his superiors. His Black Riders are also with him, constantly training to become the best soldiers in the world. Their persistence certainly does them credit. |
