A slow pace of life seemed so peaceful when one took the time to enjoy it, and Chikage was given plenty of that; she had been bedridden for months, the harsh fall she had taken down the slopes of Mikawa’s castle-town had done more damage to her than she had thought; several of her true ribs had been shattered, and bits of bone had lodged themselves in her innards. She could barely remember how she dragged herself back to Mole’s house, drifting in and out of consciousness, her mind in shock from the pain, but the events prior to that still seemed so clear... she remembered the priestess and the words that she had offered her, words that she had been reflecting on them for what felt like an age, unmoving.

In that time she had gained a newfound respect for Mole, she would have doubtless died without his intervention; the man was as sly and obtuse as ever, but when she turned up on his doorstep he asked no questions, instead immediately arranging medical help for her, no easy task considering the amount of money he had to part with in order to ensure discretion was maintained.

He didn’t take it well, however, when Chikage told him that she had no intention of going back to working for the family who had deprived her of a childhood, but eventually he relented, and agreed to inform them that she had died in the assassination attempt. Whether it was a sense of pity for the broken doll of a figure lying immobile in his guest room, or the pangs of what could be camaraderie between the two after the time they had spent working together, she would never know.

When she was finally able to move again it took considerable convincing for her to take it easy, and several times she had reopened her wounds by pushing herself too far. At first it had infuriated her; her joints had become stiff from inaction, and she had wanted to bring herself back to peak condition to pursue her own agenda, but the recovery process had taken longer than she had hoped.

She had not simply squandered the opportunity she had been given, however, and her time was often spent in quiet contemplation, not for the purposes of meditation, but to plan and to consider her future.

“Don't let the little girl that was Chikage die before she lived.”

Those words never lingered far from her thoughts. She wished to release herself from her past life, to cut all ties and start anew... but it would never be that easy. Despite her resolution she felt incomplete, as if something was missing; she could not let go of the past that had been forced upon her, those memories would haunt her until her dying day unless she took control of her own destiny, she would never be free until the monsters responsible for her upbringing her dead and she could not simply wait for that to happen. At the same time she realised that her old masters would likely be undeterred by her ‘death’, and would doubtless send more assassins to complete the work that she had cast aside; she would not risk that, she owed the high priestess that much and in truth wished to speak to her further, she had given the impression of being a kindred spirit when last they met, even if their circumstances had forced them down different paths.

She was going to help push things to their conclusion, and aid the Tokugawa in ridding themselves of the Hattori, for her own agenda. Mole knew little of what she had planned, he would doubtless be against it had she told him the truth, but he still proved useful to her as a friend. With his help she had create a false identity for herself, one ‘Hirase Chikage’, daughter and heir to a family of Tokugawa loyalists and trainer of ninjas. The guise was near perfect, her supposed father had been a real man in the position she had described, and it took only minimal work to have the perfect alibi. Things were beginning to come together.

“Chikage! A message has arrived with a summons for you.”

She smiled, knowingly; everything was going better than she had planned. How quickly the tables would soon turn on the Hattori; soon she would be working for the very man they had once so mistakenly sent her to kill.

Icorisu walked into the sake den with an air of happiness but that was washed away when he remembered that theses were the people who couldn't bother to help the clan

"EVERY ONE LISTEN" he yelled "YOU ARE ALL NEEDED TO HELP THE CLAN YOU SHOULD ALL GO TO THE TEMPLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU GET THIS MESSAGE AND GIVE THE HIGH PRIESTESS YOUR AID BY REQUESTING THE PATH THE CLAN SHOULD FOLLOW IN ORDER TO STEAR THIS CLAN IN THE DIRECTION OF THE PEOPLE " with that he left satisfied thinking that he finnaly got the point that the people need to help the clan across

Toshiyamata did as instructed and ordered me an escort. While he did that I recalled some agents from the field, mabey 3 or 4 of my best men and woman. I spent the days folloowing my departure ploting how I would kill him. Would it be grusome, poison but I thought why not let the Diamyo decide his fate. Witch also reminded me that I should build a small dungon.

So as the dungon was being built I had Toshi (Toshiyamata) order me a prisioner vessel (ship). By the time I got back for aressting my father my ship was ready. I loaded my father on to the ship and put him into his cell, while I went up to the base(stronghold) to put on my favorite robe. The robe was entirely black except for the silver cuffs on the sleeves and the design of silvrer dead treebrancheson the left side to represent the network i had established throughout the lands. Then I put on my straw hat witch had every clans flag that the tokagawa has defeted so far including the takeda, usugi and the date but i put that one on there a bit early. After I had left and got on my ship I told the captain to set sail. I went below decks to start off my journey by haveing a small cup of sake but come to find out toshi had put a few owls on the ship so i could communicate but the owls were not returning since we were moving. He also threw in my my very large collection of throwing needels I had become one of the best needel throwers in the contry. I knew it would be a while before next port so i had to use the owls properly.

Slowly, a slim and scrawny samurai limped into the city of Mikawa. Donned in his samurai armour, with only his bow and a few arrows as his weapons, he purposefully began heading towards the castle, to fulfil his duty to his master.

Approaching the gates, he hailed the guards and croaked “Has the Tatami Master returned yet?”. Shaking his head, one of the guards explained that the Tatami Master had not returned, and it had been months since he was scheduled to return to the city. Suddenly, the lone samurai stood up straighter and his voice had more energy and urgency when this time he hurriedly said “I must see the Tatami Masters four guards, and quickly”. The guards looked at each other questioningly, but did not refuse the samurai entrance to the castle.

Sprinting down the hallways in the castle, his limp vanished, he ran towards the Tatami council room. Six guards outside of the gate quickly pulled out their Katana’s when they saw the Samurai sprinting at the like a devil. Upon seeing this, the lone samurai slowed down, panting heavily, and raised his hands to show he meant no harm. The guards lowered their guard slightly. For a while both sides stared at each other until one of the guards yelled “What do you want?”
“I need to meet with the Tatami Master’s Elite person guards” The samurai answered “I have an urgent message from Tanchi Kagna, friend of the Tatami Master and the Captain of the Tatami Guard”
Unsure, the guards were silent for a second until one of the guards nearer the back responded “We have orders to let anyone past this door other than the Tokugawa themselves, however you seem to have urgent news so I shall ask, don’t you dare move or we will cut you down were you stand” The great door opened, and the guard crept inside, while the rest just stood, their eyes on this strange samurai. After a few seconds, the guard came out and said “you are permitted to enter”. Calmly, the samurai limped into the room, resting heavily on one leg. When he was in the room, the doors slammed behind him.

After a few minutes, the doors once again creaked open. Suddenly, the samurai bolted out of the door dashing towards his next target. Shortly after, a tall samurai walked out from the door as well yelling “Remember to return to us when you have told him!” The tall samurai was one of the personal guards of the Tatami Master with short brown hair, brown eyes and a fairly slender build. At his hip was a katana and on his back was a bow and naginata. “Maybe we should have sent someone else” he mumbled to himself “he might be too weak if he keeps exerting himself like that, we need him alive”
“You worry too much Grato” A small samurai with large muscles said as he to emerged from behind the door “I’m sure he will be fine, he knows his own capabilities”. This new person was also one of the Tatami Masters personal guards. A bow and Katana on his back, his grey eyes sparkled while his short hair was as dark as a black hole.
“I hope you are right Brunkon, it’s not honourable to die from exhaustion” Grato replied before walking back into the room.
Brunkon laughed a booming laugh as replied “You are right there!” Still laughing, he walked back into the room. After he was inside, the doors slammed shut and the laughter was locked inside.

Elsewhere, the weak and injured samurai was sprinting off at high speeds to the new member of the council the Tatami planned to announce months ago when he should have returned. The Tatami Master had already written the message, so all he had to do was carry it and insure it got to the recipient. That recipient was called Aomori Kaiso.

He had arrived at where Kaiso was staying, and found him. He slowly walked up to him and explained that the Tatami Master was currently missing and there was a note from him he planned to give a few months ago. He also explained that he should see the personal guards in the Tatami Council after he had attended the Daimyo’s tea ceremony ,if he wished to attend it. He would be late but there would be a reason so it all should be fine. After handing over the note, the samurai limped off back to the Tatami Council room to recive his next orders.

The note was written in beautiful handwriting by the Tatami Master himself. His brushstrokes were elegant. The note read: “Congratulations Aomori Kaiso, you have been selected to be the Master of the Arts. You should know what this duty requires, but you should now stay at Mikawa permanently with your new position so I can keep you close if I need you for anything. You may take occasional breaks and leave the city to see your family and friends, or you could take them with you. Large accommodation has been provided in a house slightly outside the city with a great view of the sea due to the fact it is on top of a small hill. You will now have a place in the council when a meeting is called, and when one is called you shall be informed by a messenger (which is after every set of updates for the RP). Consider you plan carefully and get ready to direct some of the greatest minds in the whole of Japan to further master ourselves. If you have anything you want, you can tell me when we meet and I shall do my best to arrange it for you.”

WEEK 1: It was late at night when i awoke from a horrifying nightmare. Even now i cant escape it the last mission befor i went off the grid. That last mission diddent go anywhere near as we had planned. The intel and the estimated troop forces were completely wrong. That was my only failed mission. There was at least a 500 strong militant group protecting the target and every possiable way of killing our target was thwarted by this group. So the only way to him was through them. I was leading a team of 4 we were the best of the best of the best but it wasent long before we had to start the brawl.

HOUR 1- 100/500 K.I.A - 1/4 K.I.A

HOUR 2- 150/500 K.I.A - 1/4 K.I.A

Both sides were adapting and it was starting to rain, blood was spewing every where lightning had struck the tree setting the sourrnding forest on fire.

HOUR 3- 250/500 K.I.A - 2/4 K.I.A

HOUR 4- 411/500 K.I.A - 3/4 K.I.A

only i was left and somehow i had ended up being thrown into the still burning woods. An enemy militant had set a gash across my left eye. The rain had lightend up a bit but it was still the most rain i had seen. one of the burning trees collapsed i had been backed into it and fell on to the tree. the tree had set me on fire but the rain an effect in puting me out. After the rain finaly put me out i felt my right arm, leg and the right side of my face burning i knew it was bad.

HOUR 5- 499/500 K.I.A - 3/4 K.I.A

As i struck the finishing blow to my last opponet, lightning struck both i and my opponet collapsed i never did get to kill him but ill be back for him.

HOUR 5.1- 500/500 K.I.A - 3/4 K.I.A

Weeks later i wake up in a hospital of mikawa. I soon find out that i have a scar going across my left eye and significant burns on my rigfht side includeing the right side of my face, my right arm and my right leg. Then i awoke in my cabin on the ship i quickly jolted my head to my right hand and saw that it still resembls the burns as does my leg and face also the scar on my left eye had gotten better since then but you could still plainly see it.

I went above decks and gazed out overthe water. the water looked black as tar but the glimmer of moon light gave it a midnight blue tint.we would be makeing port in about 2 more days. I sent 2 owls out that morning 1 to toshi to inform him of the dream i had. the other to the Daimyo to request a meeting letter subject urgent and to ask him to have his answer awaiting at the port of Sagami.

He was cloaked, a dark black robe. The room was in pitch black, not single light lit the room. The master turned to Raion, he was growing impatient.

"My son, it is time."

"What do you mean Seryo?"

"The Tatami Master has gone missing, if all goes well we can proceed with our plan."

"What do you wish?"

"Bring me the Tatami Master alive. But if all else fails bring him to me dead, kill him." There was a long silence, nothing moved, no one spoke.

"Why do you wish such a fate, master?"

"In time my apprentice, in time."

And so Raion left. He rode his horse to Kaga, to investigate.

The guards of Mikawa squinted their eyes and pointed towards the lone figure in the distance. A shadow getting larger with every step towards the walls. The guards shouted to eachother and suddenly every one could see yet another fugitive of war was approaching the gates. As the man grew closer to the castle walls he appeared to have 2 men with him, as if they were bodyguards. The man had a Katana strapped to his belt and light armor fastened on his body. The man had a slight grin that meant only evil acts.

A guard walked out, his yari pointing upwards. "HALT! Nobody is permitted into the town! There's a war going on!"

Matoki walked forward, his grin enlarged. "Step aside gentlemen, if you know what's good for you." The guard pointed his yari at Matoki's head, almost drawing blood. Matoki stood there smiling.

"You need the proper paperwork to get past these walls. I don't care who you are or what armor you're wearing." Matoki signaled for his guard to step up and flattened out a scroll. The town guard's face remained nuteral, though Matoki could see the expressions in his eyes changing. "This way, my lord."

The town of Mikawa was once a sight to behold, but now it's just another wartorn dump. Sure the castle was being constructed...but that's the least they will do. Matoki was going to change that. "Show me to somewhere I can sleep for the night by a fire and have a proper meal. I want my bodyguards to have the same treatment as well. And put in a request for a meeting on the morrow."

"Of course, my lord. And whom would you be meeting with?"

Matoki looked the town guard in the eye. "Just tell the castle guards that I mean to visit them and speak to a certain individual in charge. Now leave me be, I have big plans coming up."

Isamu's Black Riders emerged from the darkened night and through the gates into town, all geared up with their armor and weaponry.

"We Find The Tatami Master Tonight! - Dead Or Alive." Isamu yelled.

Yusei rose up and left the hall, returning to his small, quiet home, on the edge of town.

Icorisu, you are more of a fool than I thought, you are blinded by your self-righteousness and idealisms. Fujiko and Icorisu probably started some sort of watching over me. I cannot trust anyone around me. Think, who would they run to for assistance in spying on me. Those fools misinterpret my grand plan for the unification of Japan as an assassination.

You know, Fujiko, since I came into my office position, I have always looked up to you. A pity for my plan to succeed they must all be kept in the dark, and all must despise me as a person. There can be no other way. Kenshin, you taught me this, I shall not fail my task to unite the land, I CANNOT!

He arrived home, as he stepped in Yusei checked if anyone had been in his house. He sat down and took out his shogi set. He sat there turning every piece into people, clans, officers, and others. When he finished his thoughts. He sat up.

Icorisu, you are as open as book, free to read as one would like. If anything you would run to the head of security, smartest thing if I was really an assassin. Now I must go and clear my name from any investigation. Next, Chikage, you can be quite the asset to this dilemma, getting you to give me advice will be my next move.

Nagao Yusei left his house, returning to the hall, and waiting for an encounter with the head of security.

Icorisu realizing he would need help investigating the kensei walks up to a group of ninja he knew were friends of Chikage-sama and spoke " hello fine sirs I would like you to deliver a message to your mistress"

"what would you wish her to know and how much is it worth to you" the leader of the group asked

Tell her I need an audience and if she grants it to meat me at the temple tomorrow I will be waiting" with that he dropped 400 koku on the ground and walked away as if a feather had fallen from a bird

It was a clear night, the moon and stars were visible in the sky and there was a slight breeze in the air. Hirotada was sat by his fully open bedroom window looking out upon Mikawa. He was holding a cup of Sake in his hand, the cup was half empty. He took another sip and his face contorted. He never had like the taste, but it was the effect of the drink he was more interested in this evening. It had been a long day. Barely a soul could be seen on the streets far below the elevated castle, it was peaceful. Hirotada was deep in thought.

"Chaos. Utter chaos at such an important time. I must remain calm and focussed. I expected this day would come when plots and schemes to take my life or even overthrow me from power would emerge."

The Daimyo sipped some more Sake.

"I have plans of my own. My death will not matter when what I have planned comes to fruition. When it all is in place, I will welcome the first moron to come and take my life, little do they know they will seal the fate of Japan in doing so."

A bird could be heard rustling in a nearby tree. Hirotada peered to try and locate the source of the noise.

"For now patience is all that is required. I will not allow our campaign to fall into ruin."

Hirotada strained his eyes as he continued to peer out of the window. Out there somewhere his son and loyal generals and soldiers were no doubt preparing for batttle, anticipating a long hard fight with a skilled enemy and missing their families. Agents were being trained and were willing to put their lives at stake for the Tokugawa clan to advance. The clan no doubt contained thousands upon thousands of people that were loyal and would do their best to see the Tokugawa thrive and overthrow the Shogun to unify Japan. Hirotada smiled, a sense of pride welling up inside him. He had been instrumental in starting this campaign and admittedly with much help, was so close to achieving what he had set out to do. He just needed to ensure that he remained in full control of matters and as vigilant as ever. He downed the last of the Sake, placed the cup on the windowsill and then closed the window before retiring to bed, a new day fast approaching.

Medieval knight in disguies

Dakeu had failed to kill the daimyo at the tea gathering and was angry at him self for holding back. He paced up and down a small ally way still in his the servents clothing he had used for the tea gathering, then he stopped and thought about a new plan, his last plan.

He sneaked around the corner, where the market place was empty. It was not long after midnight and he could not see a soul. Looking up he saw the Daimyos quaters and his chambers, a light still on. He walked quietly and slowly looking everywhere for metsuike. The night was still and there was no wind. Suddenly talking could be heard and he pressed himself against a wall. A lone Metsuike talking ti himself.

"Im getting to old to be doing this," Said Dakeu and with that he rolled out behind the metsuiki and jumped up, strangerling him. A loud thud was heard as the dead man flopped on the floorl. Dakeu dragged the body away and when he amerged he had changed clothing.

"To the cells we go!" Said Dakeu.

"Bah! If you want something doing, do it yourself! It's always the same. What the hell do I pay you all for?" - Isamu yelled to his followers, The Black Riders. Jajami was next to Isamu on horseback and laughed; "Perhaps you need to find new ways to 'motivate' them?"

"Shut it. Don't mock my intelligence, Jajami. They continue to fail me and ignore my instructions. Typical mercenary's. Crap at their job and demand payment! - I will just have to continue my search. ALONE." - Jajami turned and faced Isamu, "You're serious? What if you get attacked? I've heard this place crawls with assassins by night." - Isamu laughed, almost uncontrollably. "You've much to learn, Captain Jajami. Pity the assassin that attempts anything on me. I'm not some soldier, Jajami. I am The One Eyed General. Notorious for bringing down the entire Maguioma Family and their army. Fear not, Jajami. I shall go and find the Tatami Master and return to our camp in the outer plains."

With that, Isamu rode off and searched the town alone. At night.

Nagao Yusei had spent the whole time today thinking about his current situation. He had played through multiple situations on his Shogi set, reviewing over and over possible outcomes.

When evening came, Yusei rose and went outside. He began walking into town to start observing. Just as he reached the gates into town, a metsuke by the name of Kiyomasa was standing near the gates.

Kiyomasa, are you here to watch me...

"My lord, Yusei-sama, how have you been!" Kiyomasa came running up to Yusei bowing after finishing his greeting.

"Kiyomasa-sama, it has been a while, I've been doing fine." Yusei returned the bow and the greeting back towards Kiyomasa.

"What have you been up to lately, word is, is that you caused quite the uproar at the Temple."

Yusei's face strained, Kiyomasa had heard about what happened at the temple.

So Kiyomasa, you are working to bring me, trying to find out what I am planning. I will break you and bend you to my will.

"Kiyomasa-sama, that was quite the unintentional situation. Icorisu-sama was quite paranoid over me, he has some wild speculations about my loyalty, it is more jealousy over position."

Kiyomasa kept up the dumb act,"Really, do you have any plans regarding Icorisu, the Priest of Bishamonten."

"Kiyomasa-sama, you are acting strange. Are you testing my loyalty?"

Kiyomasa's face turned sour, "My lord, you have changed a lot we worried about you."

Muahahaha, you are a fool Kiyomasa now bend! You will be instrumental in my plans.

"Kiyomasa-sama, you are testing my loyalty, have my friends betrayed me out of paranoia. You are dishonourable, playing your superior for a fool. Do you really believe I am a traitor, you were there when I interrogated that Uesugi, you know how loyal I am. Do not let Icorisu's words break what friendship we have."

Kiyomasa had been broken, Yusei had taken the pawn and replaced his position with his own, the first step.

Kiyomasa dropped his head perplexed by the Yusei's words, he turned to walk away,"Good day my lord."

Just then a rustle from the grass had sounded, a ninja spying on Yusei hurried to relay the conversation to the head of security.

Excellent the fish has taken the bait. You can have this converstation Icorisu and Fujiko, for I have won over Kiyomasa and his fellow Metsuke.

Yusei returned home smirking, a victory had been won.
