Ah, yes. I have not enlisted in an army rather I have fought for an army, i am much to old to fight currently. Where do i begin... ah yes. I originally was a citizen to the Takeda, when I was very young I was trained in the Katana almost every day. I lived in Kai, you have probably heard of how out Daimyo has conquered it, well i lived their before the Tokugawa were even aware of its existence. There have been many 3 Battles of Kai, I fought in 2 and witnessed all of them. In the Second Battle of Kai I fought to keep my Family alive, we were having a family day out when the battle started and my father quickly pointed out we were being attacked by the Uesgui, by we I mean Takeda. This caught me off guard but my dad told me that if he and I take out family horses we could distracte the Uesugi archers. Knowing my father i accepted and we both saddle and rode towards my new found enemies. The never saw use coming, we rammed them once and i could have sworn we took out 15-20 men. This unit still had around one hundred left and both my father and i knew no matter how skilled we were at swords they would overwhelm us, instead my father tossed me a circular ball and told me to drop it and run, i did do and as I as running of i heard a loud noise off in the background and as i turned around a flying body came my way. I don't remember the rest of the fight besides being dragged off my father and waking up the the horrible smell of smoke. Even with are grand distraction the Uesugi still won the battle. But of cousre after the 3rd battle of Kai that was no more... |

I am a monk from Mino. I went with the Diamyo's army when they marched towards South Shinano. I saw that there were lots of ashigaru, but no warrior monks. Some monks would like to fight for the clan and bring peace back to Japan. With naginatas and bows, and possibly matchlocks from the Europeans, we can help the Diamyo to reunite Japan, once and for all. |

Hirotada had just finished observing both the Kensei and the Head Priestess writing their instructions on the scroll of fate. When they had both finished their entries they left the Daimyo alone. He was still awaiting the Shinobi Elder and Tatami Master to scribe their orders. The fusama slid open and Hitoshi bowed towards the Daimyo before approaching him. "You requested to see me master?" He asked aprehensively. "Yes Hitoshi, you are correct." He responded. "It seems it is time for me to once again lead an army against one of our foes. A life of sitting on a throne is not for me. It is only right to personally fight for my clan if I am asking others to do the same. I want you to send a message to the Head Samurai in Echigo. Inform him I am set to return shortly. When I do so, I expect to see my army fit and ready for the next step in eliminating the Uesugi. I want my soldiers battle sharp and ready for inspection when I arrive. Anyone found to be flagging will be dealt with appropriately." Hirotada reached forward and handed Hitoshi a sealed envelolpe bearing the Tokugawa seal. "This should cover the rest of the details, including the Kensei's recruitment order, now go." Hitoshi bowed again. "As you wish my lord, I will send the message right away." He then scrurried out of the hall leaving Hirotada patiently awaiting the arrival of the other two officers that were due to arrive shortly. Edited by damo2986, 30/08/2011 - 09:55 am.

Sanada Katashi heaved the saddle up onto his horse, Kuroi Ikazuchi (Black Thunder) and began preparations for the march. His mind was in too many places at once. He longed to see his wife, Sanada Yuuko, once more, having been separated from her for so long while fighting the Uesugi with Tokugawa Matyumori. He desired nearly as much to be in Mikawa for the Daimyo's address, and to voice his own concerns with the diplomatic relations with the Hattori. His body was in Kaga though, breaking camp to return to Echizen. Despite Katashi's political savvy and concern, as well as the desire to see his wife, his first priority at the moment is to serve and protect Matyumori. He focused his thoughts on the present, noticing he had not properly adjusted the stirrups. His horse reared onto his back two legs just a bit, and Katashi pulled him back to the ground by the reigns. "Do not be anxious, Ikazuchi," he whispered into the horse's ear while adjusting the stirrups. "We will be fighting at Mochimori's side again soon." Ikazuchi let out a hearty snort. Katashi wished he could feel the same way. His heart deflated when he found out that the Yamana had declared war and sought to destroy the Ikko Ikki, whom they had just brought in as a vassal. He knew he would be redeployed back to Echizen, instead of heading closer to Shinano, and ultimately, closer to home. Sure enough the order came, and Katashi would surely follow. He gathered his belongings, finished his bowl of rice, and mounted Ikazuchi. "One of these days you're gonna get me killed you know," he said jokingly to his horse. Ikazuchi bucked ever so slightly, as if teasing his master. Katashi laughed. "Bring me through this war and home to Yuuko, Ikazuchi, and I'll make sure you have the best plains in Japan to run free in." Sanada Katashi met up with the rest of Motchimori's Bodyguard, fell into ranks and began the march to Echizen. |

Tokugawa Mochimori laid on his back laughing. Hageshii Raion, now actually Commander Raion, watched in awe as 16 Yamana troops screamed as they ran just at the sight of Mochimori. His laughter halted for a moment, turned too Raion and gave him the signal to advance his troops against the enemy archers. Raion thrust his katana forward and signaled the advance on the Yari Ashigaru and some archers. The Commanders Katana Samurai took no time to wast and charged thirty yard into the hands of the off balanced enemy. Like the force of a wave. the Samurai smashed against the Archers. The archers tried to flee but Raion approached their commander and swung. The enemy commander blocked it, but he was caught off balance and did not call his soldiers to retreat. Raion then swung again at the commander, this time catching his hand, which slid off the arm. It was followed by a fatal slash at the head. When Raion looked up. a enemy soldier in the back of the line let a arrow loose. It whizzed quickly and struck Raion in the shoulder. But it barely even touched his skin through the armor. He pulled the arrow at and stuck it through the chin of a unsuspecting Yari Ashigaru unit. Commander Raion took another chance with his katana, slicing unit after unit with minimal resistance. Finnally a sole samurai stepped forward from the pile of dead troops. Raion was alone with this samurai, his division were perusing the now terrified units of Ashigaru. The warrior wildly swung at the commander, who carefully blocked it the katana. He countered the swing with a mighty blow but the warrior dodged and kicked Raion in the side, sending him hurtling back. Raion crumbled to the ground as the warrior stood above him. The enemy soldier raised his sword above his head and swung it down on Raion. The commander rolled to the right and quickly jabbed his sword through the head of the enemy katana. It was not long until the enemy army was destroyed. Each and every opposing unit had been killed, including the enemy general who had been struck by a stray arrow. They drank that night, Commander Raion and Machimori. It had been another great victory for the Commander. However for Raion life was soon to change. |

Takahashi turned his horse round so he could stare at the charging Hattori soldiers in their faces. Suddenly Ieyasu looking slightly worried turned to him and said "wheel the troops round and charge them to counteract the enemy's momentum and cover the bow units so they don't rout." so Takahashi told the horn man to sound the order and when those two notes blared out of the horn the melee troops covered the bow units and braced for the coming impact. The fighting ensued and blood flew everywhere and the men battled hard trying to overwhelm the enemy troops but then Ieyasu saw a battle winning chance as the Hattori Daimyo charged forward to battle our troops. "CHARGE!!!" Ieyasu screamed and his royal guard moved with each other in perfect motion flying forward like hawks and struck the enemy Daimyo's troops in a tornado of spinning Katanas lopping of heads like machines. Suddenly the enemy Daimyo wheeled round and regrouped however a yari ashigaru soldier managed to kill the enemy Daimyo with a huge sweep of his yari hitting him in the neck. This loss of morale meant that only the samurai of the Hattori battled on with any units like the yari ashigaru fleeing and Ieyasu took this advantage crushing the samurai with overwhelming forces and then chasing down the other fleeing units. After the battle Ieyasu took Takahashi's hand in his and said " you have been good to me Takahashi, good to my father even in the dark moments when I remember myself in the loving company of our then allies. I hope you will forever protect me even when Japan is Tokugawan I want you to be somewhere near so at least you can help me" smiled Ieyasu "I promise" swore Takahashi. Takahashi new this was a serious promise as if he broke it he would lose serious face but he did not care as the Daimyo and Ieyasu were his only masters and would rather die in the most horrible way than betray them. |
