Icorisu walked in the dead of night knowing That he had to be alone with Fujiko-sama if he would be able to inform her of how his mission fared in all secrecy he walked into the grand hall surprised to see here still awake "Milady I was able to convince the head of security to start a investigation and I was wondering maybe we could speak to Chikage-sama and receive the aid of some ninjas to spy on him for I can be the diplomat and the whisper of what to do but I have no skill at subterfuge so perhaps he would aid us?" |

"I'm quite sure that Chikage is already aware of the Kensei's strange behaviour and will look into it via her own sources," Fujiko answered. "She's very observant and at this point I don't think we can tell her anything, she doesn't already know. Also she has already offered to look into the Tatami Master's disappearance." "There's something else, though. I just remembered an incident from a few years ago. A former member of the Uesugi family was apprehended, when trying to talk to the daimyo. The Kensei was tasked to interrogate him, but instead let him rot in a cell for over a year. He basically refused a direct order from the daimyo himself and now the man's dead. Now it could be coincidence, but don't you find that suspicious, given the Sword Master's own ties to the Uesugi? Maybe you want to mention that to the daimyo's head of security. It might be a long shot, but it's a lead worth checking out." "Now, Icorisu. Please do not come back to me until you have something substantial on the case. You don't have to keep me posted on every little detail. I trust you and Chief Henzai to get to the bottom of this case." |

Kaiso was very apprehensive when he walked into the temple complex. He was dressed in his ashigaru armour, although he did not wear his helmet and lacked his bow. Instead, his helmet was hanging from his back, covering a memento of Susuki. Kaiso had not asked his friend to come along, lest there be something amiss, but he took one of Susuki's arrows and tied it to one of his own. It was partially symbolic, as Kaiso had trouble snapping two arrows at once, but he also figured two pointy objects would be handy on the road, lest anyone waylay him. He didn't really know what to think these days. It was getting to a point in time where he had gotten used to living in Kaga. Being so far from his family was strangely liberating. He was less concerned about their safety, Noto being somewhat remote by Tokugawa standards, and he almost stopped caring about his mother's inevitable fear. Part of that was his new position... or potential position, as he wasn't sure of its current status. Regardless, if all was well, it meant he was no longer on the front lines, unlikely to suffer his older brother's fate. It also had the added bonus of rubbing it in Okumi's face. Lowly ashigaru, now Master of the Arts. That will teach you to be unfaithful and dropping me like a hot rock. Kaiso, however, had informed nobody of his current status. Not yet, anyhow. The only person he had contacted was the garrison leader in Kaga, lest his absence be miscontrued as desertion. As far as he knew, Susuki thought he was on a "leave of absence" at Mikawa. Best to keep things under wraps until the situation became more clear. Having no idea who to speak to, Kaiso approached the first figure in the temple he saw. "Excuse me," he said, giving a quick bow of respect, "My name is Aomori Kaiso. I had applied for the Tatami Master's position of 'Master of the Arts' and was given this note by a wounded samurai. Given his recent absence, I felt it best to come here for any further instruction or clarification." |

Fujiko wasn't very happy to be interrupted in her meditation ... again. The whole city was going to hell in a handbasket. Paranoia rampant and real trust far and in between. Still she had hoped for at least one clan proposition when she followed Hayate's voice outside. Instead she found her ronin holding a terrified man at sword point and handing her a piece of paper. "Found this creep wandering around here," Hayate informed her, "might have something to do with the Tatami Master vanishing." "No, I..." the man started to protest, but Hayate's blade pressed against his throat and silenced him. Fujiko glanced over the letter. She recognized Motohisa's handwriting and his signature. After all she knew it well from the Scroll of Fate. The samurai who had handed him the note might have been a phony, but the document itself was legitimate. The Head Priestess laid a calm hand on Hayate's sword arm. Taking the cue, the ronin lowered his blade and Kaiso seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry, my good man," she said as she handed back the letter, "we're all a little on edge right now. Sadly I must inform you that your master is missing. A search for him is underway, though I fear the worst." "What am I supposed to do then?" Kaiso asked. Fujiko leaned in closer to Hayate, so Kaiso wouldn't be able to overhear them. "Can we send him to the Tatami Council?" "The place is locked up and as for the guards, we haven't ruled them out as suspects in the Tatami Master's abduction yet," the ronin grumbled. "All assuming his master hasn't staged the thing himself. But right now that man before us is the Tatami Council." "Well," Fujiko said, so that Kaiso could hear her again. "Right now now the daimyo has taken over the Tatami Master's responsibilities. I'm not sure how that impacts your station, but the way I see it, you're a personal advisor to Motohisa-san and he's not here. If you would like, you can stay right here at the temple, while we wait for word from the search parties. I'll have one of the guest rooms prepared for you." |

Once again Chikage found herself stood outside the Temple, visits there seemed to be commonplace for her these days. This time an embellished notification was hanging up, letting all passers-by know of her proposition for the Tokugawa people to study the arts of ninjutsu further, all seemed to be going well. Unfortunately she wasn’t here for a mere casual visitation; she wished that she had the luxury for such things, but with the looming war with the Hattori at the forefront of everyone’s minds her days were filled with laborious planning and information gathering. It was rare that she, of all people, would receive a request for an audience, but with tensions on the rise in the lands of the Tokugawa she felt the need to be privy to whatever goings-on would require her assistance. She gestured to one of the inhabitants of the temple to get his attention. “Please take me to the one called Icorisu, he has sought an audience with me here at this temple.” |

as the Shinobi Elder enters his chambers Icorisu stops his prayer to Bishamonten and turned around offering a deep respectful bow "ah Chikage-sama welcome you honor me" he says graciously "I was wondering if you would aid me in a small task, you see I have some suspension against the Kensei and have commenced an investigation into his doings at Fujiko-samas request but I am not skilled in the art of espionage and was wondering if you would aid me by sending some ninja to spy on his doings this would be a great aid to me and of course if need be I am willing to pay" with that he waited for a responce |

“This is a very serious matter, Icorisu, the Kensei is a powerful man and you risk much by speaking out against him in such a way; frankly I know little of whatever goings on have caused such suspicion to be levied against him...” She paused for a moment “...However, if this investigation of yours is at the Head Priestess’ request as you are suggesting, then I will grant you what you ask, if only to demonstrate that she has my full support.” “I will send two agents to aid you shortly; you need not make any special arrangements, they will come to you. They will be fully at your disposal, I merely ask that you return them to me safely when you are done, do not put them in any situation which may endanger their lives; with war on the horizon I will need them alive.” |

After being brought to the guest room, Kaiso sent his thanks to Fujiko and, once left alone, let out an extended sigh. He had not expected much upon his arrival, but he hadn't anticipated a sword to his throat. I don't think this was the wisest action I have ever taken. Proper, perhaps, but not wise... and how can I expect to serve as Master of the Arts if I'm acting unwise? He shook off his worries, clenching his eyes and teeth. No, don't think like that. Be tactful with others, but confident in yourself. You did the right thing and will serve the Tokugawa well. He relaxed and opened his eyes. Even if he wasn't fully into his position yet, he somehow felt accomplished by proxy. The latest clan proposal had voted for an art that, while not on his original agenda, was something he had considered in hindsight. Prior to visiting his room, he had given his vote for it as well, showing his official support... for whatever that meant right now. As much as I'm pushing for Heaven And Earth, the worst thing I can do right now is attempt to force my views on the council. He stiffened for a second, remembering an even worse concept he'd considered on the road. Shortly before getting the Tatami Master's note, word had reached Kaga that Lord Ieyasu had given birth to a son. There was some rejoicing in the castle, happy for the clan... only to learn the next day that it was a 'false alarm' of some kind and to stop. Kaiso didn't know whether that meant it was a ruse, or his child suffered crib death, or whatever; all he knew was that bringing such a topic up with the daimyo's son was a horrible idea. On the subject of better ideas, Kaiso made his way over to a table and started writing out his plans. Since he had nothing better to do at this time, he figured he might as well spend his time productively and chart out his plans for the coming years. Not sure what comes afterwards... research does take a long time, after all... but I'll at least fulfill my most obvious duties. |

Hamatao runs in in a huff and runs straight into Icorisu's chambers "You were not to come back until Thursday what happened?" asked Icorisu "A man when into Yusei's chambers and was waiting for him yelling about a master plan all I heard was beat me at sogi or die from the man but also from Yusei that to protect the personal safety of Fujiko-sama he would need to keep it a secret" he whispered knowing that he was to report back to Icorisu only "You have done well Hamatao-san please return to Chikage-sama tell her everything except the master plan and fetch Takesuma you have completed your mission return to your home" with that the ninja left Icorisu gather his armor and sword and left he had business with the Kensei |

Yusei had walked along the streets of Mikawa, having not wanted to reveal to Icorisu the location of his true house. Yusei had still pondered the situation at his fake house regarding the stranger that had planned to reveal Yusei's master plan to Fujiko and ruin it. Yusei had spent the whole day trying to analyze any reason for someone of his caliber to want to ruin Yusei. He began tracing back to people he had wronged in anyway, but found no logical suspect. The one conclusion he had reached was that the man had to be either Uesugi or Nagao to know Yusei in such a way. In fact, the man had to be quite the scholar or noble, to have such abilities as to predict future movements based on analyzations. As he reached the market district of Mikawa, he was met by some large guards. The Captain of the Guard faces him and says roughly,"Icorisu-sama, Priest of Bishamonten, wishes to have a meeting with you. I assume at the temple." Yusei's face scrunched, "Now of all possible times!" He turned away from the guards and began heading for the temple. |

Yusei put on a blank face, smirking on the inside. "Icorisu-san, I spare you of any punishment. It is great to be looking out for your mistress in these troubling times. Just know that the good intentions you may have can lead to either severe consequences or even death. I ask that next time you hold such opinions, you find hard, solid evidence before taking such matters of hiring ninjas and spies to keep constant surveillance." "Now Icorisu-san, I ask that you put full belief that my intentions are for the sake of the Tokugawa, and that no matter what you shall not question my doings. All are planned ahead for the coming of my ultimate plan to assure the Tokugawa's unification of the land. Next, I want your spies to continue keeping surveillance of my true house in the market district. It will have name written at the top. There is a man that threatens to undo all that I've worked for and I'm not sure if he is dead or alive. I have a plan if he comes by again so don't worry." "Will you agree to these terms?" |
