Damnit what have i got myself into thought Tanimoto was he pulled out the Red Dragon katana just to block the strikes of the Black Samurai. A few seconds pass then the enemy started backing off as they notice that 5 of their men lay dead in front of Tanimoto who was now covered in blood. "Hurry, finish off these rebel scum we need to find that Yusei" yelled Tanimoto as he charged the remaining forces near him. It took short work to kill some and let the rest flee. Some Tokugawa forces were giving charge when Tanimoto said "Come back we need to head back to the Temple". Just as he turned to run back a bolt of pain went through his body on his side where Raion's sword cut him. It was not deep but still very painful. He took a peice of cloth from one of the body's near him that didn't have blood on it and tied it over the wound. "Retreat to the Temple, Retreat and regroup" yelled Tanimoto raced to the temple. Kenchi was still giving treatment to the troops as he heard fighting becoming louder outside. He ran to the nearest window to see that the fighting is just outside the Temple. He looked to the outskirts of the city to see two forces coming, Kenchi hoping that they are Tokugawa reinforcements. He then notice Tanimoto and 5 other men coming from the Markets wounded but not in mortal danger. They clashed into the back ranks of the rebels making a path to the temple. Then he notice movement to the right but didn't get a good glance to see what it was outside. He quickly went back to treating his patients hoping that they can help out. Tanimoto and the last of his troops manage to get in front of the temple doors. The fighting was all around them but their was not that much arrow fire, most of the fighting is close combat now. Tanimoto entered the temple with his group of wounded men to be quickly patched up by Kenchi then go assist the men outside. Kenchi came over and began to patch them up and when he came to Tanimoto he said "glad you are still alive friend, I wish I could say the same of Muchi." "Why what happend to him," said Tanimoto. "He came across a dual-wielding samurai and manage to take out 5 of his men and leaving Muchi badly wounded. When he got here with his men carrying him he looked like a ghosts. I got him patched up and he is on the third floor of the temple on a cot resting but I can't tell if he will make it or not." With that both of them went silent for a few seconds then Tanimoto said "He did his best and I'm very proud of him. Let's not let his sacrifice be in vain." Just as he said this he saw something that never in his life he would of thought he would see. Through the doors of the temple he noticed a solider approaching the temple fully clad in the best armour you could find, with his trusted Katana at his side with the Tokugawa mon on the hilt. "The Daimyo is coming he called out." Edited by damo2986, 04/11/2011 - 11:22 pm.

Hotoshi ran into the Daimyo's quarters, a look of horror on his face. Hirotada put his quill down and looked around. "What is it Hitoshi? My wife has she had the baby?" He asked. "The rebels...at the temple...Nemene!" He screamed between pants. Hirotada forcibly stood up out of his chair sending it reeling towards the floor. "Get my armour." He ordered calmly. Hitoshi ran into a small room at the back of the Daimyo's quarters. Moments later Hirotada was stood at the threshold of his quarters adorned in his Samurai battle armour with his ornate Tokugawa emblazed Katana at his side. He had not worn this for several years, luckily it still fit. Hitoshi looked panicked. "I will prepare your guard my Lord," he blustered. "Calm yourself. There is no time. Just inform the officers of what I am doing. They will know what to do if the worst happens." Hirotada took hold of Hitoshi's shoulders, looked him in the eyes and smiled. "It will be fine. Now go." Hitoshi managed to force a weak smile before bowing and running off down the corridor towards the main hall. Hirotada turned on his heels and began marching towards the castle exit. As he reached the steps of Mikawa castle he looked out into the city and saw plumes of smoke rising into the air. It pained him to see his city wounded so. He had hoped that his Security Council would have prevented such a thing from happening, but there was no time for pondering. He marched towards the castle gates a look of sheer determination etched on his face. The guards did not notice who was approaching them until he was a mere few feet away. "My Lord!?" One of them exclaimed in shock, as he realised the Daimyo was in full battle dress. "Where..." He was cut off. "No time for questions, open these gates." Hirotada ordered. The guards opened the gates and as they did so, Hirotada made his way through them, heading towards the temple. Bodies lined the streets as the Daimyo of the Tokugawa made his way towards the holy grounds. The temple gates were open and Hirotada made his way through them and then stopped dead at the sight before him. A couple of hundred soldiers from both sides were fighting in the grounds of the temple, Yusei in the distance could be seen making his way up the temple steps. "YUSSSEEEEIIIIIII!" Hirotada bellowed so loud it was if the gods themselves were speaking. Yusei spun around looking for the source of the sound. A mad grin became apparent on his face. His target had come to him. His plan had worked. He held up his arm and shouted for his men to reform in front of him. The guards in the temple courtyard began to cease their fighting when they realised what was happening and after a couple of mintues were formed up. The rebels were in front of the temple steps facing Hirotada whilst the defenders had formed up in front of their Daimyo. There were still well over a hundred men left on both sides. Hirotada made his way through the lines of the defenders and eventually appeared in front of them before the enemy, exposed and extremely vulnerable. A deathly silence overcame the temple grounds, several faces appeared at the windows of the temple as Hirotada began to address the rebels. "Look at you. Have you no shame, defiling such holy grounds with bloodshed and for what purpose? Why do you fight? Why do you burn Tokugawa lands? Why are you so hell bent on death and destruction? Have you asked yourself this or merely followed the lead of a madman blindly for all this time." Hirotada paced up and down his line of men. "Don't listen to him!" Yusei called out. Hirotada ignored him. "This man stood on the steps of a holy temple with death on his mind would have me painted as a tyrant, a greedy man desiring personal glory and riches. Ask yourself this. Would a tyrant be stood here before you today putting his own life in danger? Would a tyrant spend his fortune of koku reparing, upgrading and constructing new buildings in liberated settlements to improve it's habitants lives. Ask the men and women of Sado if I am a tyrant. Ask the men and women of Mino if I am a tyrant. Ask the men and women of any settlement conquered by the Tokugawa if their Daimyo, who has enabled them to prosper with better farms, roads and more jobs is a tyrant." Slight murmourings could now be heard from the rebels, they were looking at each other but still stood to their spots. Hirotada continued. "Every land this clan has conquered has been liberated peacefully and honourably. My soldiers have not razed buildings to the ground or killed innocent men and women. That man over there has had you conduct yourselves like animals, preying upon innocents, is that not the actions of a tyrant? He is hell bent on petty revenge because his true colours were shown when he was an officer of this great clan. He sought to cause death and destruction in our very own lands only so that we could 'come to the rescue' of the very problem we would have created ourselves, earning fake plaudits. Is that not a tyrant? I ask you men to consider just who the tyrant is stood before you today." "Pathetic words, let us fight, I have heard enough." Yusei spat as he started to walk down the temple steps. Hirotada held up his hand and Yusei stopped, wondering what was coming next. "As I speak to you here, my son is on the verge of capturing Kyoto allowing the Tokugawa to take the seat as Shogun. From there, I plan to extend my policies of growth and prosperity not just in my own lands but across the whole of Japan. Men, you have two choices. You can fight dishonourably for a tyrant or you can surrender yourselves for what is right and live a peaceful life wherever you desire. It is not too late for you, put down your weapons now and you shall be allowed to leave this temple peacefully to forge a new future. If not you will die here fighting for a man that was about to abandon you for his own personal glory. MAKE YOUR CHOICE NOW." There was silence after Hirotada had finished speaking. Nobody moved but there was a loud humming as soldiers were chattering. "See!" Yusei cackled. "Your words mean nothing old man. Prepare to...." Yusei's words were interrupted by the sound of a katana dropping to the floor. A lone rebel Samurai stepped forwards from the line and walked towards the defenders, not once looking back. He reached Hirotada and bowed before making his way into the line of defenders and finding a space to stand. A second clanging sound could be heard and another rebel soldier stepped forward. Soon, the temple courtyard was filled with the echo of Katana crashing to the floor as the rebels began to abandon Yusei. First it was handful of men but before long scores of them were switching sides leaving their weapons behind as a symbol that they embraced the peace that was offered by Hirotada. Before long only a handful of men remained at the foot of the castle steps. Yusei screamed at the top of his lungs before charging down them, his katana held aloft. Hirotada held his arm up in front of his men and unsheathed his own sword, holding it by his right leg. "YOU WILL DIE HIROTADA!" Yusei shouted running towards his target. As he reached the Daimyo he clumsily swung his katana toward the Daimyo's head, it was parried away effortlessly with a swift flick. Yusei swung again this time at the Daimyo's torso Hirotada dodged by swerving his body and moving backwards. Yusei's face was twisted, he was beyond sense. Blow after blow was aimed at Hirotada but each one of them missed its target. Hirotada remained focussed and calm. "FIGHT ME OLD MAN!! FIGHT MEEEEE!" Yusei was tiring. "He thrust his Katana at Hirotada's face, the Daimyo ducked underneath it and shoulder barged Yusei knocking him off balance before tripping him causing him to crash to the floor. Hirotada kicked the fallen man's katana away and knelt down before him. Yusei was wide eyed and panting heavily. "I may be old Yusei, but one may argue that I am also wise. Violence is not the answer to everything, just ask Fujiko-sama." The mention of the head priestesses name was enough to tip Yusei over the edge. He spat in the face of the Daimyo and reached into his belt pulling out a small dagger. A blood curdling scream echoed out through the courtyard, Yusei's hand had been cut clean off. Hirotada stood up and left him rolling around on the floor in agony. He signalled to his men and they swept forward to deal with the remaining defiant rebels and Yusei was captured. "Death is too quick for you Yusei," Hirotada said as the rebel general was being carted off towards the castle. "You will rot in my cells for the rest of your days." Just then, the heavens opened and the rain poured down from the sky bouncing off the courtyard floor. The buildings of the city would welcome the water. As they last of the rebels were rounded up Hitoshi ran into the Courtyard sodden. He looked around at the horrific sight but then noticed the Daimyo talking to some soliders. He bounded over relieved that Hirotada was still alive. "A son my Lord, it's a boy." He spluttered. "And Ieyasu has laid siege to Kyoto, they don't have a chance." Hirotada bent down on one knee, looked up at he heavens and embraced the water on his face. He then stood up and beckoned everyone inside the temple, he wanted to personally thank each and every man that had fought to defend his city. |
