Yeah, yeah, I know, a zombie game. How original. But trust me when I say, this one is very different. Before sending me the hate mail, allow me to explain. The Walking Dead: The Game is, first and foremost, not a horror game. It's an adventure game. It is also not a zombie shoot 'em up game, but a rather (and this may sound cheesy) deep, emotional, character driven storyline. The title of this game is very misleading for people that do not know about The Walking Dead franchise. Yes, there's zombies in it, but it's less about guts and gore than it is about characters and dialogue choices. Dialogue choices, you ask? Yes, there are dialogue choices in the game. You can control pretty much everything you say, and also make very important choices. These choices impact your game, and like other titles such as Mass Effect or Dragon Age, the choices you make may come back to bite you later on. (Pun intended) The game is told like that of a TV season, with 5 "episodes" in all. Each episode is short enough to play in one session and long enough to make you feel satisfied with your overall experience. I just finished episode 1 and it took me about 2 hours. There are 4 episodes out so far, and the "season finale" episode is to be released by the end of the year. The voice acting, writing, choices, and character development are very impressive, at the sacrifice of good graphics. But the game is nice looking enough to make you feel immersed in the world. I don't recommend zombie games lightly, so when I say this is good I really mean this is good. I would love to see Damo play it. It wouldn't be a very long LP either, with each episode being short enough to be told in 5-10 parts. Trust me, it's really worth it. Plus, your choices in episodes carry over into the later ones, similar to how Mass Effect branches off into separate storylines in Mass Effect 2 and that branches off into even more in Mass Effect 3. And these aren't tiny, stupid choices either. They are tough, in your face, immediate choices. To make it even worse, they are timed. In real life things happen fast, in the game things also happen fast. You might have 5 seconds to choose between saving two NPCs you have become attached to. It's very emotional, and I don't use that word lightly. Feel free to leave feedback. Should Damo play this? I think so, it's definitely a Damo worthy game that I think would fit his playstyle of making meaningful characters out of his LPs. |

They did the best they could with the choices, but don't be fooled, they don't matter very much, since they mostly lead to the same outcome or don't effect anything at all. They don't even let you make some of the big choices. This of course is reasonable, if they allowed that the game would have way to many variables. Still, it's a good game (the puzzles are especially good), even though it uses every zombie movie/tv show cliche out there and likes to manipulate the player by making him hate or feel sympathy for certain characters. |

Thats, not at all true Elkyrian, I have played every episode that has come out and the choices may not always effect that episode but it always, definitely affect a future episode, trust me. Its been a while since I found a game that had such a good story line, I absolutely love the Walking Dead and will be sad to see it end. Hannah from the Yogscast has done an amazing lets play of it and I love how she plays it out. Edited by Lovetotalwar, 03/11/2012 - 06:56 am.

Love Hannah's lets play of this. I also think Damo's (if he chose to do it) would at least be on a par. |

What I like about it is that it can be SO emotionally draining and intense, that it makes a simple 2 hour episode feel like a really good movie. I just played Episode 2 of it and it had me on the edge of my seat more than a lot more than even the best thriller movies. Oh and btw, a Season 2 of The Walking Dead game has been announced, so we will have more than 5 episodes. It will just be sold as a separate game sometime next year probably. |

Once again the suggestion forums strikes. I've done a little research into this and I think LPing the game would provide a nice break from the main 3 LPs as a side LP. Playing Slender, albeit for half an hour was fun and I think a fresh LP was a welcome sight to a lot of people. So I'm fairly certain that in the upcoming couple of weeks or so, I'm going to give this a try. I like the look of it, it seems fairly easy to play and get into, the puzzles arent too hard (I don't like puzzles if you couldn't already tell!) and I like character driven story games, especially when I can influence the decision making. My goal is to play the first episode through in about 2-3 sessions to see how it goes. If it goes well I will play the subsequent episodes in due course. It will be a side/casual LP so I will fit it in as and when I have time. Thanks for bringing this game to my attention. |

Definitely, definitely, definitely, definitely! This is one game that I've thoroughly enjoyed playing, and very few games (especially PC ones) make me feel so excited about playing them. The story of The Walking Dead is deep, intense, and it pits you right into it. The art is amazing and the story writing is great - to see Damo lets play this is going to be awesome. Although I'm starting my own lets play of this game, I'd really like to see this happen and it would even be nice to see what decisions another person makes and how similar and different we are in our decisions. Oh, and did I say definitely yet? :P |

You definitely did! Man I can't wait to see Damo play Episode 2. By far my favorite out of the first 3. But man the choices you make in this game....god they are intense. |
